If you need to stay overtnight at Penn State for a college visit, etc., this is the place to go. Clean, free breakfast, parking, gas station next door. Always could be cheaper but all the hotels in Happy Valley are overpriced.

Hot tub and pool lifts are broke. Our handicap room was so small our son couldn't turn his chair. The tub doesn't have a handheld shower and the wobbly bench seat insert doesn't have a back on it. I was guaranteed a 2 room attached walk through but didn't get that when we checked in. Room were 12 rooms away even though I made reservation a week in advance.

This is a nice hotel and very convenient to the Penn State campus. People at the front desk were very welcoming and the rooms are fairly roomy and well maintained. Minor issues with our room was a stained couch and chipped bathtub. There also was no soap for the shower. With the exception of those minor items the hotel is a good choice in the area. The breakfast (which is included) was also quite nice with varied selections.

This hotel was so easy to get to and close to everything you'd go to Penn State to see or do. I didn't have to get into the State College traffic at all; it was really close to a rte 322 exit. It was my first time at this hotel, and I will definitely return. It was clean and quiet and the staff was friendly and helpful. One room suite was comfortable. Separate sitting room with chair, sofa and large work table made it comfortable to host evening work sessions with colleagues. The included breakfast was so-so. No waffle irons the first four days, just a typical eggs/sausage/baked goods buffet.

We just stayed here 4 nights. Room was ok, albeit, needed some cleaning. Pool was nice, breakfast was just so-so. The reason we can not return is that we had almost no internet access the entire stay and nothing was ever done to correct it. In fact, 3 out of the 4 employees we spoke with could not have cared less. (One offered to "let the IT guy know".) Being on a business trip, this is unacceptable and we will not be able to stay here again.

The hotel looks lovely from the outside and when you walk in there are cookies and refreshments at the door. The staff was very friendly and got us checked in very quickly. The room was clean, smelled fresh, with soft beds and carpets. We were some how lucky enough to be placed in a disabled room which was huge. We went for a swim in the pool and soak in the jacuzzi which was a decent size. Nice breakfast!! Compared to our nightmare stay at the Days Inn in Gettysburg this place is a palace.

We found this hotel when searching for a home away from home while our daughter attends Penn State. During the three times we have stayed to date, we have never had a bad thing to say about this hotel. One suggestion would be to keep the rates the same no matter what the time of year or college event may be taking place. Other than that, we look forward to many more stays over the next four years!

I love this hotel for its location to Penn State University. It is a clean and well run location and the staff is friendly and professional. The hotel has a nice indoor pool and hot tub. The breakfast is just the standard breakfast you find in this price range hotel. They could probably offer a few more options and maybe better quality hot items. The main reason I gave the hotel 4 stars rather than 5 was because I felt they were price gouging because it was a football weekend. The price I was ... Read more

We stayed here 2 nights while on a road trip. The staff was friendly, the rooms large and clean. Breakfast was good, the eggs were hot and not runny!!! One thing I would change is the coffee, didn't like it, but not a show stopper Nice fireplaces for ambiance

Stayed here for 4 days everything was nice and neat. Pool spa and exercise rooms were great to use, close enough to Penn State without having students bumping into you every 10 steps. Will stay here again

Everything I'd expect of a Country Inn & Suites. Large Rooms, good breakfast, warm cookies all day. The hotel is easy to get to and close to a gas station which was nice for my one night pass through stay. Hotel is close to the university. I wish we had more time to explore it.

I have stayed in different Country Inns before and had been satisfied. This one was so loud because of the AC unit it was hard to sleep. I told the front desk during check out that the vent system was very loud and all i was told was that "we will look into it and fix it before your next visit". Later after I left I realized that I should have said something like: "that doesn't motivate me enough to ever, ever come back." So, unless you like sleeping with the equivalent of a slow moving train in... Read more

I love the hotel but am shocked how a hotel can adjust their rates so drastically. We have stayed here three times and the rates are all different. I feel Penn State families are being taken advantage of. Shame on this hotel.

It was a lovely, clean, comfortable stay. I chose a large suite which was perfect for my husband and I and my 17 year old. The bedroom was a separate room where my teen could spread out. It was quiet, offered a really good hot breakfast, had a nice pool and jacuzzi. All in all very well outfitted.

We stay here every time we visit our son at college. It's close to campus, clean, staff iis friendly and there are always treats. The one thing I dislike about this hotel is the price gouging every time there is an event at the college. I know all the hotels in the area also do this but I think it is poor customer relations. We stay here a lot and to pay triple the regular price when we have to be up at the college just shows me they are greedy and put money above customers. Seeing as most of th... Read more

Stayed Sunday through Thursday in mid Sept. Nice establishment. Quiet and clean. I only received a hello/good bye/how are you during check-in. No other time, either coming or going, did any staff recognize me. Hospitality business is just that "hospitality". While not enough for me to seek other accommodations on my next trip, the team should truly absorb the review and notice the area of opportunity.

Hotel was very accommodating with my schedule. I had a sick daughter at PSU and wasn't sure how long I would need to stay (i.e. Needing to cancel or stay longer). Made a stressful time a little easier.

Why stay anywhere else? I stayed at this hotel with my mom and dad. We were in town to see my son and daughter who are Penn State under graduate students. We Are! The hotel staff were friendly and we loved coming "home" to fresh baked cookies. Our room was just right for us and just a few minutes to campus. Be back soon.

This hotel is conveniently located close to PSU and the downtown area, but it is quiet. Our room was spacious and clean and had all of the amenities that make a hotel stay more comfortable (e.g., microwave and refrig). The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. There is also a walking/bike trail and a meadow nearby for a short morning walk. Will always stay here when visiting Penn State.

Nice clean rooms. We weren't there for long. Got in around 1 am. My Husband had to work so he didn't get to sleep til 3 am. Around 9:15 we woke up, threw some clothes on and hurried down to grab breakfast before it shut down at 9:30. When we got there, there were 3 other people in the dining room. My husband picked up a plate and the kitchen lady loudly reprimanded him like he was 5 years old and said he couldn't come into the dining area without shoes and listed off several chain restaurants th... This reasonable hotel is a 10 (out of 10) in every way. I have stayed here two times and each time I was very, very happy with the services and the accommodations. And I have stayed in hotels and B&Bs all over the world. And, I am fussy. I always use a Country Inn & Suites whenever I can. Period.

We received a welcome gift of two PSU glasses upon check-in which was a pleasant surprise! Our room was clean and there was a mini fridge and microwave. The lobby and breakfast room are cozy and inviting. A variety of breakfast foods are available in the morning and coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cookies are available in the lobby all day. Parking is ample and the hotel is conveniently located to town and campus.
