I stayed at this facility for a conference. The location was great, right in the heart of the city's entertainment district. We were able to walk to the stadium district, which was nice. The down side is the facility itself, which is pretty dated. Don't expect much out of your room. Standard king with no refrigerator, no auxiliary access to the TV. Speaking of which if you plan to spend any time in your room, working with the TV will be a frustrating experience, the remote is channel up/down onl... Read more

The Wyndham Grand is a lovely hotel. The rooms are a bit small, but very nice. that said, let me tell you about the best and the worst of my experience there. THE GOOD: Our group (62nd Nationales Sangerfest) had a banquet dinner on Saturday night. During the dinner, our table enjoyed a tasty meal and AWESOME SERVICE! Specifically, two servers, DaeJuan and Vonda were excellent. They met all of our needs with a pleasant demeanor and a smile. THANKS AGAIN FOR MAKING OUR DINNER EXPERIENCE AN EXCELL... Read more

My wife got this hotel through expedia's "mystery deal" for a one night get away on our wedding anniversary. At check-in the clerk asked the reason for our visit. Upon learning of our anniversary she proactively upgraded our "expedia mystery deal" to a "city view junior suite". Very clean room, awesome view, and walking distance to a lot of great theaters, restaurants and bars. Great place to experience downtown Pittsburgh.

Several very disappointing experiences were experienced by me and my wife during our 4 night stay: One day the room was not cleaned or visited by Housekeeping at all. I don't recall this happening in many years staying at many hotels The wi-fi signal in the room was very weak. They must be aware of this problem becauce when I complained at the desk, they immediately handed me a booster to plug in in my room. Did not resolve the problem. I stayed here on a business trip The Good: you can't beat the location because you're a short walk over the bridge from The Major League Baseball stadium, PNC Park. Also, the staff is incredibly nice. Also, when I arrived a very nice cheese & fruit plate was in my room. The Bad: Three things. First, although the wifi is free, it took a long time for my devices to connect to the landing page. Second, my colleague had no cell service with AT&T, and had to use a my-fi to get connected. This hotel is in a great location, and the facilities are adequate. Rooms are fine, and service was typical, nothing to complain about, but nothing really exemplary either. I had made a reservation for a king bed, and upon checkin, they didn't have one, so put me in a "junior suite" with 2 double beds. Sent laundry out, had to call to get it returned the following day. Housekeeping said they didn't deliver it because they thought I had checked out.

First, the Wyndham Grand bills itself as a convention hotel, which in my mind means that handling the influx of guests associated with a convention should be commonplace for them. With that said, below is an account of my recent experience my business associate and I had while staying at this hotel. Booked the rooms months in advance, at convention rates. Nice stay at this boutique hotel. We were able to walk across the bridge to the Pirate ball game. Hotel is older but public areas and my room were well maintained. If you think you are going to get a large room guess again. It is big enough for the bed and area to walk around but not much more room. This is not common for a hotel of its age. They have valet but watch for events and games because they let people park there for that so it was full when we arrived and the people don't really care it's full you are on your own. Also, not all rooms offer a refrigerator and microwave as our junior suite did. Valet parking at this hotel is $30 per day, with in-and-out privileges. ... Read more

Good location, service left much to be desired. When we arrived there was no remote in the room which does not sound like a big deal but my wife is confirmed to a wheelchair . When trying to use the roll in shower, the handheld devices fell apart in my hand, this was reported immediately but never repaired! The maid service was awful, clean towels were placed in room but nothing else ever done! For a rate in the mid 200's,plus 30 for parking totally unsatisfactory.

Attended a conference here for four days. Location to PNC Park (Pirates), Market Square, and general downtown area was very good. Meeting rooms, lobby, valet service were good. Actual rooms were very small and in need of some tender loving care. When I checked into my room, the smoke detector was still covered with a shower cap - I assume from a previous visitor. I have stayed in several Wyndham hotels through the years and always been pleased. However, the Wyndam Grand Pittsburgh Downtown falls immensely short of even my minimal expectations of a Motel 6. Frankly, we paid too much ($149+$30 parking per day) for a room that had no microwave or refrigerator, and did not provide an included breakfast. The bathroom drains, both lavatory and tub, were very slow, a light bulb was out in the bathroom, and a tile between the door and the tub was missing. A few issues: The mirror above the sink in the bathroom of my room (#701) was so low that I literally had to bring in a chair to sit to shave in the morning. I am 6' tall, and standing in front of the mirror I couldn't see my neck much less my face. Also, the TV channels and their number listed in the guest book in the room bear no relation to the actual channels on the TV. Lastly, during the serving of the dessert at our convention, there was one line onto the long table with the desserts. ... Read more

Loved the location of the hotel, the park across the street, close to restaurants, and things to do. Had a great view from the 7th floor of the park, river, Heinz field and bridges. I thought the hotel was a great place, I enjoyed a three day conference there with great food and service. But the room was in dire need of TLC, the room got cleaned but just the basics, so much dust was piled up on top of picture frames and other places above the normal reach. We are always treated so well when we go for our annual Steelers weekend. The front desk was able to put us in a room with a great view of Heinz field. I am especially delighted to find out that there is a Starbucks counter in the lobby!! It's open from 11pm to 11am and has snacks too!

We came to Pittsburgh for a Steelers game. This hotel was within walking distance of Market Square, the Cultural District and Heinz field. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and were able to check into our room. The view was amazing. We could see the park below where the 3 rivers meet and Heinz field. The room was small but clean. There was some small areas of mold in the shower and a large stain on the bed skirt. Other than that everything else was good. Sheets had a good thread count an... Read more

The hotel room itself was small and had a partial window which made it difficult to see the incredible view of Heinz Field! The location was within walking distance to both stadiums, great restaurants and shopping - you can't beat this location. I would definitely go back to the area but might consider looking into a hotel with more comfortable/larger rooms.

This is the old Hilton from my youth where the visiting baseball teams used to stay I'm sure he has for me a certain mystique. But a very clean and comfortable room with an Amazing! view of the three rivers and the point did not disappoint. Stayed here for a conference. Nice location near major downtown Pittsburgh focal point (fountain). But hotel itself has several drawbacks. 1. No immediately close (same couple of blocks) coffee or other shops, and only a coffee kiosk inside operates for a few hours in the morning, with no convenience shop in the hotel for snacks or small items. 2. None of the cardio machines in the fitness center had properly functioning audio. 3) Towel in rooms were old, scratchy, stiff. 4) television remote ... Read more

I don't recall a prior experience with this brand but with the word Grand in its name, I was expecting way more than I got - brown water coming out of faucet, smoke-smelling room, black soot-like debris coming out of air vents. My nostrils were literally burning. I had to request a room change and while the staff was very understanding, the second room was not a whole lot better. Dingy appearing overall. I felt like I was in a time warp. The best part was the views from my 11th floor room!

I went to the Wyndham for a conference and found the meeting space worked very well for our size group (about 900). There was a lot of space to hold large and small meetings, as well as hallway conversations. The location was excellent -- across the street from a park and next to 2 rivers. It was about a 5 block walk to good restaurants.

The Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown is one of those hotels reincarnated in another chain, but lacking the upgrades it sorely needs. The lobby and public spaces are inviting, but the rooms are small and in need of updating. I attended a conference held at the hotel which may have stressed services. The Three Rivers Lounge and adjacent restaurant were fluctuating in service and quality depending on the meal and personnel.

Old hotel, small rooms, nasty check-in experience. If you need to be in downtown, book one of the other hotels. Even 2.5 star hotels are better than this one, like Hampton Inn. This is not a luxury property, especially since they do nothing to make you feel like it is. If you get a nasty room, tough luck because they will give you a hard time before they assist you. If the room smells or something is not working right, it is your fault. You get the picture.
