Booked this the day before on Priceline.com. The advertised rate was $189 but I did my own price and they accepted $115! The hotel is one the water directly across bridge from PNC Park. I'd imagine its location makes it very popular during the baseball season. I was here one night to see the Pens playoff game against Capitals. After the game I was able to walk the .5 miles from arena to hotel. Felt safe walking in town at 11:30pm. There is a pizza place next door so convenient before heading up ... Read more

A very elegant hotel ideally situated for a short walk to PNC Park, Heinz Field, the Point, Andy Warhol museum and plenty of restaurants. Surprisingly affordable. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would highly recommend.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and modern with large windows. There is a lot across the street which offers parking for $13 a day. There is a city bike share location within a couple blocks of the hotel for easy transportation and a great way to explore the city. Take the dedicated bike lane down Penn Ave for a safe ride. I wish the hotel would consider complimentary coffee in the morning in the lobby. The coffee pod machine in the room was a little musty smelling. Not... Read more

We had a fantastic time at the Renaissance! We were a group of 5 women celebrating a 30th birthday. The service and attention to detail were perfect. We were upgraded to the 14th floor and there was a bottle of champagne waiting for us upon arrival. This is our go to hotel for weekend retreats to the city. Maurice at the front desk was wonderful! Every staff member we have ever come in contact with has gone the next step to ensure we feel at home during our stays. As always we look forward to ou... Read more

Stayed for a couples weekend in this old, but renovated hotel. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and staff went out of their way to make our experience worthwhile. Room - large, well decorated and clean Bed - pretty good Other items - leaky faucet and entertainment movie system not operating, yet tv says you can rent. Advised the staff in the future it would nice to know about this at check in. Breakfast - excellent brunch!

Stayed here several times when awarded via Priceline. Accommodations were always very satisfactory. Valet will not park pick-up trucks. Only a handful of garages in Pittsburgh are high enough for vehicles over 6'7". Would stay at this hotel again.

We had a bad room at the other Marriott in town, so we switched to the Renaissance. What a cool hotel it was! 12 foot rooms, updated and very clean and contemporary with 12 foot ceilings. This is definitely the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. We had a corner room with sweeping river views. The room got pretty warm during the day because it was so sunny outside so I recommend closing the drapes during the hot time because it took a while to cool off but the room was so nice and comfor... We stayed at the Renaissance for a wedding that was held there. Although in the Marriott family, the hotel is a classic hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. Because of it's location and classic hotel look, it appeals to brides and wedding parties. On Friday, the hotel hosted a prom. It is very busy. We had no trouble getting into our rooms and the hotel accommodated our request to have rooms side by side with our son. Unfortunately for several others in the wedding party, including the bride, they ... Read more

So thankful I picked this hotel while visiting Pittsburgh last weekend. You feel like you're somewhere special as soon as you walk inside the grand entry and see the cathedral ceiling and staircase. The rooms are very spacious and clean, and somewhere you want to spend time. Service is also terrific, everyone is very friendly. And the view of the river is priceless! The location is also where you want to be when spending time in the city. All major sites are within close walking distance.

We were upgraded to the executive floor which was a huge advantage in the mornings as the restaurant service for breakfast was frustratingly slow. Help yourself in the executive club is much quicker and just as tasty. Our room and bathroom were large with all the usual things provided, the bed was comfortable and there was coffee making equipment in the room. We were with a tour group and the lecture room provided one day was fine. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first evening and the foo... Read more

This hotel is located in downtown. It has views of the river and pnc park. On the other side is the heart of Pittsburgh. So great location. The hotel is very clean rooms kinda big for a city hotel. Service is superb. We had breakfast at Braddock and it was reasonable priced and very good quality and order size. There is also a nice bar and a small coffee shop serving Starbuck by two beautiful girls.

Amenities throughout this property are spectacular. In the Pittsburgh cultural district and within walking distant of many attractions and restaurants. We have stayed here several times. When we checked in to our room, the front desk staff was a little distracted, and wearing jeans - coming from a hotelier background, I was a little put off at first. When we got to our room, it wasn't what we'd expected, having stayed here once before. Before we had a huge room with a gorgeous river view. This time, we were told "city view," but our room clearly faced a bunch of other guest rooms just opposite us (hard to explain - there's an archway). We had a snippet view of the river, but tha... The Renaissance Hotel in Pittsburgh is a very cool historic hotel. You can tell it had an earlier life other than a hotel. The grand staircase at the entrance is incredible. My room was in the "cove" of the hotel, and I had a view of PNC Park. High ceilings, and simple decor was nice.

The hotel was really lovely from the outside and the lobby was stunning. The room was alright, but always seemed really humid, even with the a/c running practically all the time. It's in a great location for Pirate's games and to walk and explore the city. I was unimpressed with housekeeping as they knocked on our door more than once with the privacy card on the door handle.

We arrived at 4:30 pm and waited in line to check in. It only took about 5-10 minutes before we headed up to our room. The man who checked us in was welcoming and personable, asking about our trip into town and telling us we'd be able to watch the Pirates game from our window that night. The room itself exceeded my expectations. We stayed in a king room on the corner facing the river. To the left was the top of a parking garage and a small hint of the city, but the main view was PNC Park, the ... Read more

Stayed recently for 2 nights, had a previous stay about 2 years ago. Hotel is great. Valet service can be difficult when traffic is busy because there are only a few spots in front of the hotel for check-in. That said, there is a large parking deck across the street for about $13 a night (no in-out privileges there though). The lobby is impressive and the rooms are a good size. Hands down the best property in downtown Pittsburgh. The views from hotel rooms are fantastic and room service prompt. I got upgraded recently to an executive suite and that was the best customer service ever received. Absolutely breathtaking! One perk that is missing is a swimming pool/Jacuzzi. Within walking distance to everything in the city proper. As a historical building the public areas were lovely, well maintained and very clean. Front desk and bell service were excellent. The concierge lounge was adequate, mostly the food was the minimum I've seen, and the breakfast very minimal, I know it's difficult to keep eggs fresh in a chafing rack but these were so old they were dried, powdery rubber. I had to stay at this hotel because I was in a wedding. They are remodeling. The room they gave us was 1 Queen, not 1 King. I knew some friends who complained and either moved rooms or $50 was taken off their bill. That would've been nice because even in a wedding block these rooms were very expensive for downtown Pittsburgh. You can tell this building has been there for a long time but the insides sure do not reflect its age. It is very modern rooms with LED tvs and comfy beds. The Renaissance is a dazzler. Marriott has converted a onetime theater-office combo and retained the grandeur of the theater in its entryway while providing rooms with all the comforts we've come to expect from this level of the company's lineup. Many rooms have views of the river and of PNC Park (home of the Pirates), an easy walk across the Roberto Clemente Bridge. Also an easy walk: the city's theater district; walkable but less handy -- Fort Pitt, the convention hall and the Strip District (... Read more
