I stayed here 4/15/16-4/18/16. The staff here were friendly & courteous. When I mentioned at check in that I was there celebrating my birthday, the young gentleman who was helping us went & grabbed a bag for me that had water bottles & a little chocolate dessert as an early birthday present. This was so kind & unexpected & it helped to jumpstart a wonderful weekend. The room we stayed in was very clean & was a great size. We travel to Philadelphia every month and the ladies @ this HIE always make us feel like family! Special thanks to Ms. Teri, Ms. Gwen, Ms. Gladys, and Ms. Ashley @ the Front Desk and to Ms. Lisa in Housekeeping. While these rooms are a little on the small side, they are very comfortable and clean. Two thumbs-up for the water pressure in the shower and also the Wi-Fi! Great location in Center City, too! Thank you, HIE!!!

We booked this, because it was in the heart of the Gayborhood. This hotel was closed to several bars, and restaurants. Parking was attached to the parking garage. We got a large room for the 3 of us with a rollaway bed. There was an extra charge for the rollaway bed. The bathroom sink was separate from the toilet tub. The shower was only ok. The first shower I took, I couldn't get hot water. It seems if someone else in another room was showering, it lowered the temperature, and the water ... Read more

Not a good view from my room on the 14th floor, but I was here for business so it didn't matter. The bed was so comfortable--and the pillows so plush! Loved the location. We parked our car for our three day stay and didn't use it until we left. We walked to the historic sites, as well took the hop on hop off bus. The hotel is only couple of blocks to the famous Reading Terminal and just around the block from the hotel our some great restaurants. The room was very comfortable. My only complaint is that the A/C could be very loud at times. The breakfast had a great selection as well very well stocked.

It's in the middle of everything. At walking distance from all the interesting spots in Philadelphia. The room was huge though the bathroom was too small compared to the rest of room. Love the location of this hotel--it's a block from City Hall, a block from the great Macy's/Wannamaker store, close to everything. The lobby's kind of cramped and underwhelming, but the rooms are nice, and it looks like much of the hotel (minus the lobby) is getting an update. I found lots of things not working properly on my visit. They need to be a little more on top of routine maintenance. Overall, not a bad stay, just not a great one.

The location of this hotel is wonderful and staff was welcoming. We are a family of four with a 11 year old and 17 year old. We were welcomed with a little goodie bag and a ton of information on how to get to places we wanted to see. We walked to all the historic sites. It was a short walk to the Phlash which we used to get around a couple of days. (Phlash was only running Fri-Sun). The breakfast was good, my son loved the cinnamon rolls and ate more than two every morning. When we booked... Read more

As part of my bucket list to visit all 50 states my friend and I wanted to visit Philadelphia and I am so glad we choose this Holiday Inn in Midtown. We flew in from Baltimore and drove to Philadelphia and this hotel was so easy to get to. It is located within walking distance of so many historic sites. We walked to Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell, Reading Market, City Tavern and much more. We also used UBER for some trips which were so inexpensive. The room was nice and plenty big. It... Another great time in the City of Brotherly Love! I can not say enough about this place. First I will tell you that Gwen at the front desk is absolutely wonderful! Probably the best customer service I have ever had the pleasure to be around. The rooms are very comfortable but I will say the bathroom is a little cramped. I would also like to acknowledge Deborah from Housekeeping. What a great lady! She greets you every time she sees you and is so pleasant. The only issue we had with this sta... Read more

This Holiday Inn Express was a real find. It is in the middle of all the things you want to see in midtown Philadelphia. It is within walking distance of the historical area, restaurants and other sites that are on tourist bucket lists. The rooms were large and clean, with adequate sized bathrooms. The breakfast was hearty and had generous serving times. Should check it out for a great stay in Midtown Philadelphia!

We chose this hotel for its great central location to many of the tourist sites, which meant more time to play rather than driving, and because it offers the Cell Block 7 pacakge. We came to Philly specifically to check out Eastern State Pen & Terror Behind the Walls. The hotel itself was clean and the staff were always polite and friendly and our room (1201) was clean and inviting. The bed was comfortable but just not for us. There was minimal ambient noise which was a concern since our room w... Read more

I have to be honest. Holiday Inn Express is not usually my first choice for lodging, but this hotel changed any previous perception I'd had of the brand. Of course the location in Midtown was ideal for a quick theatre trip and a history lesson, but what got me most was the service and the accommodations themselves. My check in was ideal. The staff at the front desk was amazing and thorough, especially when learning it was my first time in Philadelphia. It really set the tone for my two day... Read more

We stayed here for three days. At he outset I will say the reception looks tired and belies the fact that the hotel is in a great location. The room was very clean and tidy and our bedding was changed every day. The only down side was that the are a bit stingy with the coffee pods but will give you a couple more if you ask. The rooms are a good size and try to get one as high possible for the views ( we were on the top floor 20). However the star is f the show are their breakfasts. A sumptuous ... Read more

The staff is friendly and helpfull. Rooms are clean and comfortable enough. Everything what we needed was at a short walking distance. The hotel has a subway station around the corner that takes everywhere u want to in Phily. also has a parking lot adjacent , were you can leave your car for a few hours after checking out. What was unpleasant for us : bathroom is extremely small. It was lack of hygenical amenities, basics for travellers. The breakfast area is also pretty small for the number of... Read more

I stay at a lot of HIE's and I would classify this one as "okay." The breakfast offerings are the same as most HIE sites. So it is nice to have something right in the hotel, but it is "okay." The room was a good size, but I barely got any sleep because of all night sewer work with jackhammers. I know this is not under the control of the hotel, but between that and hearing my neighbors, I was exhausted. Me the ceiling above the bed was damaged and therefore made me a little uneasy.

When I first walked into the lobby, I thought it looked a bit outdated and worn down. Luckily, when I got to my room, I was much more satisfied. The rooms are a bit larger than many downtown hotels, which was nice. We had a great view of Philadelphia from our room. Everything seemed to work well in the room, and there was a fridge and microwave, which was really nice. The breakfast in the morning was pretty good. I agree with other reviewers that they could use a bit more variety of healthy food... Read more

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We chose it due to the fact that it was within walking distance of the Philadelphia Amtrak station and the historical sites that we hoped to visit. Our stay didn't start on the right foot though as we arrived prior to the 3:00 check-in time and our room was not ready until approximately 25 minutes after that. The front desk staff repeatedly called someone to find out what was taking so long but it did not seem to rectify the problem. It was frustrat... Read more

Hotel is updated, the room was clean. Comfy beds. This is right downtown Philly. Perfect location for walking to near by shopping, food, and site seeing. The only downfall is the water on the 16th floor takes really long to get hot.

4:30pm on the second day of our stay, we came back from all day activity to relax. Our room wasn't ready, no one ever came in to clean it...I mean 4:30pm? seriously? and every weekend, there's a marching band parade going on outside. It is so loud that our children are having a tough time falling asleep at 11:30PM. Hotel won't call the police or anything, they rather give you a very cold response. WARNING: DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL if you need a good night sleep!

Very nice one night stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Beds were nice. Staff was great. Convenient location and proximity to subway. Two cautionary comments: First everything seemed expensive to me including the $27 parking next door. Second, the complimentary breakfast was fine except they ran out of coffee and took too long to replace.

Very comfortable for two adults and two two teenagers. We would stay here again. Roomy breakfast area, clean hotel, friendly staff. Walking distance to Independence Hall and easy stop for Uber to pick us up and drop us off. It was also walking distance from a SEPTA stop where we took the subway to the Amtrak station.
