This is a 2 star hotel in a 4 star location - knowing that can help you evaluate whether it is a good fit for you. The location is smack in the center of Gettysburg and the opportunity to walk around to many sights, shops and restaurants was a plus for me. That said, the hotel disappointed in many ways, particularly relative to the price: -we were in a "suite" in the back of the hotel. It was dark and the sitting area was small and uncomfortable Many rooms face the back of the hotel: an al... Read more

Had a meaningful time visiting the Gettysburg Battlefield. Educational, interesting and emotional as you view where so many gave their lives. Rangers were amazingly informed about all the nuances. Management at the Gettysburg could take a lesson from the Rangers. The hotel was wonderful, but it ran out of hot water to take a shower at 6 pm when trying to wash off a day of hiking. Compared to what we were there to see, seems not worth writing about but the management's view of this was....... Read more

A centrally located and, evidently historic, hotel it dominates the central square of this truly charming little town. We checked in without any prior booking on a Wednesday afternoon and could only be offered the most expensive room in the house. Indeed, it was very good; top floor looking out across the centre of town, spacious and well appointed. It was only subsequently, however,as we walked the town, that I was able to see just how big the hotel really is and how many rooms it has to of... Read more

Hotel was in a great location with a lot around the hotel to eat and to see. Restaurant could of had more food on the menu for dinner. Internet code was easy to remember and hotel garage parking had plenty of places to park. Just would watch where you park. Because some people do not know how to park in their own space.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The hotel was "fine". The rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is extremely convenient to all restaurants, the college and the historical sights. The cons were: the Internet did not work well the first day and I had to go to Starbucks to get service, the Windows face the street so at times the traffic is loud (but that's also a trade off for being right in town), staff smokes outside the hotel so you have to walk through it (or they sit on the ste... Modern, clean and well furnished. Beds were very comfortable, and the AC kept the room very cold. Parking behind the hotel in the garage was close. This hotel is within walking distance of several different types of food establishments. Hotel bar was small, but nice. The hotel is a short drive to the battlefield. I highly recommend this hotel

Planned a last minute getaway. Found a great room with a mobile discount. Loved staying at a hotel with so much history and hauntings. However we did not encounter any paranormal guests during our stay. The hotel has been remodeled since we last saw it. Large modern rooms with free wifi, coffee, and cozy beds. We were there during the celebration of the Battle Of Gettysburg, and it was completely full, as was every other place in town. You are greeted by a very nice front desk attendant, which is manned 24/7. The rooms were big, well appointed, and very comfortable. Great location in a historic town. Professional service. However, Room value is not there - loud, very loud air conditioning and bathroom vents. Decor and amenities similar to a Hampton Inn. Smoking allowed in front and back of hotel entrances, also not a positive welcome to such a historic and lovely building.

My family and I stayed here for three nights leading up to the July 4th weekend. I can't say enough about the location of this hotel. It is absolutely perfect for walking. It's perched right in the center of small town loveliness. The hotel bar is charming. We loved stopping in for a drink after a long day in the sun. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was great. The rooms are well appointed and the service was spot on. We would definitely say again.

We were accommodated very nicely at a last minutes notice. The location is probably the best we have stayed at in Gettysburg. Close to all historical walking areas. Parking was no problem in the garage next door..Many good restaurants close by in walking distance. Also fine arts stores and historicalmemorablia stores. Recommended.

Lots of traffic in most hotels is not a problem, but at Hotel Gettysburg the windows suck so you hear everything. Also, the AC unit squeaked the entire time. This hotel is in need of upgrading. Historic charm only goes so far.. I've stayed at this hotel 4 years in a row and there won't be a 5th.

I was impressed with the hotel and service that was received. My only concern is that we had to wait over 1 hour to have a room assigned. was told the house keepers do not clean a room until it is sold. Reservations were made plenty early and rooms should have been ready for check in.

The restaurant and bar at the Gettysburg Hotel, One Lincoln, has consistently been a favorite among our group of friends and family. From special occasions (they are WONDERFUL, and make every detail personal) to just a place to convene on a Friday night, this is one of the best local places in town. When my reservation fell through at a place in Chambersburg the say but before our trip I frantically looked online and there was little available. Only 3 rooms were left at hotel Gettysburg. I made the reservation online and called to double check it. The front desk was awesome..calm, cool and made me feel as if they couldn't wait for us to arrive. We did arrive 4 hours before check in time and they let us have our room which was spotless and comfortable. The staff was friendly and knowledg... Read more

We visited the Gettysburg Hotel during Columbus weekend. The hotel was the perfect setting for the weekend. Centrally located in the heart of Gettysburg, we were able to park our car and explore the sites on foot. The rooms were immaculate and beautifully appointed. We had wifi for everyone's surfing needs. My daughter loved the large window in our room.

We stayed at the hotel this past weekend while visiting our daughter at Gettysburg College, and also celebrating our anniversary. Because it was a special weekend, we splurged for a King suite with fireplace and jacuzzi. When we checked in Saturday afternoon, they gave us one on the 4th floor, overlooking the traffic circle in the center of town. The bed was comfortable. The fireplace was pretty weak - gas on a timer - and did not add much to the ambience in the room. The jacuzzi tub was also t... Read more

Our room had a jacuzzi tub in it. It made for a very relaxing stay. The decor in the hotel is very nice and the ballroom is just gorgeous. My husband and I took this as a second honeymoon. Nice, well-maintained historic hotel. We had a great view of the square, since our room was on the 6th floor in the front. Unfortunately, the square seems to be a major truck route, which translates to noise from about 6:30am - 10pm. If you like to sleep in or early-to-bed sleeper, don't pay extra for a room with a view. The hotel is conveniently located to many attractions, so once you check in, park your car in the garage conveniently located behind the hotel, and visit many of the sites ... Read more

We booked and paid for one night at this hotel a month in advance. On arrival at the hotel we were told that they had over booked the rooms but they had found us a room at another hotel. No apology was offered and when I asked why they had not contacted us earlier they claimed that they didn't have any contact details. This was a lie. The hotel and it's management are a disgrace and should be avoided at all costs.

The fireplace room with two queen beds was large, quiet, and reasonably clean for an old hotel. The location is central to the tourist sites and other amenities in Gettysburg. My only complaint is the tub was too large, which made access uncomfortable. The hotel is very active with weddings, political meetings, and organizational dinners, which creates a nice vibe.

Spent the night here one night with our tour group. The hotel is not grand or glamorous, but nice . The lobby and front porch make you think you are entering a historic hotel, but the rest of the place is rather simple and plain. We took a walk around the area after dinner and enjoyed the local sights and sounds.

A really nice place but extremely noisy if you stay in the extended section of the place. We didn't know the semi-trucks would be constantly coming right by our room all night. The round-about makes it worse as they rev the engine around it. The rooms that aren't in that location may be better but it is hard to say. Being right in the middle of town makes everything walkable but the sleep quality was not good.

We have been going to Gettysburg on a regular basis for nearly 10 years and the Gettysburg Hotel is always our first choice. Its' location provides the best access to all of the things we want to do. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, which is a reflection of the staff. The pub and restaurant are pleasant places to eat and drink. Reserve your room as soon as you start to think about going to Gettysburg because the hotel is popular.

The town and Square where this hotel sits is adorable and charming, the hotel despite the founding date of 1797, is quite less so. It's remarkably plain, the sort of place that can hold conferences and weddings. The building dates to the early 20th century. Don't look around the corner at the ballroom which is truly hideous. In all very pleasant room though, especially if you're on the top floor overlooking the square. Clean and pleasant staff, decent if mediocre breakfast too.

Excellent. This is the best and most convenient hotel for visiting Gettysburg College. Hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. Bathroom counter space is very limited so keep your toiletries light. Parking is a little odd, it's a multistory car park that you pay via machine each day. Secure but odd payment since you are on a 24 hour pass so you need to remember what time you first parked the car and keep up your payments. You do not need your car to visit campus or restaurants. It costs us $187.00 for a jetted tub and fireplace. The jets in the tub were filled with mold. Looks like they haven't cleaned it in months. It was the dirtiest tub I had ever seen. The toilet was just as bad. There was a black ring around the top of it. It makes me wonder if they change the sheets or just make up the beds. I would not stay there again. They gave me 10% off my bill. When I complain about it they said that it was a very old hotel. PS I guess it is you even get very old mold with ... Read more

The Gettysburg Hotel is a beautiful historic landmark right in the middle of the Lincoln Square. The rooms are beautiful and well cared for. The only issue we had on our last trip was the parking. We don't mind paying to park although other hotels in Gettysburg offer free parking. The process stinks. You have to go online to get a permit if you are coming and going during a day. Otherwise you must pay in advance at the parking garage.
