Reasonable rates...clean room...close to the airport....Shuttle service...friendly staff....business center (to print boarding passes)...breakfast is included...what weary traveler flying out of Philadelphia could ask for more?

If your traveling and need a place to stay for one nights you could do worse. The neighborhood was sketchy so I wouldn't wander anywhere on foot especially at night. I hate to write this as the area looked to be once a vibrant neighborhood but.....

I stay at a lot of Holiday Inn (IHG) properties, and I usually welcome an Express, however this has to be the worst of the ones I have experienced. Very unfriendly, dirty lobby, noisy, BAD area. I needed a Philadelphia airport hotel, and my other options were not available due to company guidelines ($$.) I see why this one was available. It's a last resort hotel. I didn't have the usual sense of security, and I worried about my car. (Even though it was a rental.) Right in the flight path of one ... Read more

Very old, smelly, horrible parking (far from the hotel - especially when it's raining). The rooms are large but very old fashioned / this is definitely a 1980's hotel. The staff though are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was typical and nothing to write home about. Don't stay if you don't have to.

Arrival can be a little disconcerting. You may be pick up at airport in a scratched up van, with a broken sliding door on the passenger side, and the Holiday Inn Express sign taped to the side of the van with scotch tape. The entrance to the hotel is via a badly paved parking area that has a lot of trucks and boats in it. Julie at check in was great as is Rebecca, who seemed to know most of the guests by name, which I thought was a great achievement. We had a king sized bedroom at the bac... Read more

Reading some of the reviews, we didn't expect much, but it was a nice hotel. Room was nice. Clean. Slept well. Shower was great. Bathroom was a little worn, but we've seen worse. Had an early flight to catch so didn't have the hot breakfast but they had the continental breakfast ready at 5 and we were grateful for that. Front dest staff very nice.

I generally stay at IHG hotels as I am a member. Since I was in town for a quick business meeting I thought I would stay at this property because it was close to the airport. Like other reviewers if it wasn't for the staff my rating would have been lower. There is nothing to do around the property if you do not have a car besides looking at the water. That also proved difficult because after going to my room I walked down to the water but no door would allow me to get back in. After walking ba... Read more

Visited this Holiday Inn for a quick overnight stay before an early flight. As expected the beds are comfy, also nice that they had single serve Kuerig. overall room was clean with the exception of the floor which was kind of sticky-yuck! The public areas were also pretty dirty especially the floors, the elevator, and any area you might touch. Staff was nice and helpful, acknowledged our ihg membership. Would stay again.

Another fairly consistent HI Express experience including the trademark free hot breakfast. Room was on the older side but still well-maintained, clean, had plenty of outlets, and featured complimentary wifi. Just beware that you should CALL THE FRONT DESK to request a shuttle pickup from PHL in case they aren't circulating at the time that you arrive. Staff were absolutely phenomenal, gregarious and upbeat, going out of their way to accommodate special requests including preparing a portion o... Read more

Stayed just for one night. The room and service was good. BUT I didn't know that you need to call for the shuttle from the airport. I thought like other hotels the shuttle comes every so often. I ended waiting for more than hour before finally calling and then the shuttle arrived.

4 friends who grew up a few miles away needed rooms for the night prior to an early morning flight out of Philadelphia. Here we could also park our cars during our trip and get picked up when we got back from our vacation after midnight. I was surprised to see this hotel along the waterfront and was pleasantly surprised that the accomodations were perfect for us. The room was clean and quiet. After checking in we all drove over to Prospect Park to have a nostalgic Italian dinner at our old h... Read more

This hotel is very near the Philadelphia airport. Shuttle service even during rush hour was good. There is a large parking area and a park adjacent with views of the Delaware river. The staff is friendly and most helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The decor is simple. A coffee maker, frig and microwave were provided in the room. WiFi is free as is the standard hot breakfast. Breakfast begins at 5:30 AM...great if you have an early flight. Several restaurants are within walk... Read more

HI Express in Essington was very convenient. Shuttle ran on time and the driver was very courteous and attentive, even at 4:00 a.m. The hotel is a bit dated, but has been updated. Our room was very clean and the desk people were also very respectful. The only issue we had was finding a good place to eat, which we did just a mile or so from the hotel. The sleeping room and the the bathroom was very clean. We would stay there again.

First the positives: the bed was very comfortable, the in-room conveniences of microwave, frig and coffee maker were appreciated, and the staff is very friendly. The airport noise was drowned out by the air conditioner fan. Now for the negative: the parking lot could be scary for a woman driving alone, parking in the dark, and walking to the entrance. The hotel is at the end of a long parking lot whose pavement is cracked and where boats and old trucks are parked. From where you park your car to... Read more

Front desk, housekeeping, and breakfast crew were stars. I cannot say enough good about the entire bunch but the room is another story. We stayed in room 101 and the musty smell was horrible. We stayed four nights and never got over it. The room was dreary and the gray carpet awful. The AC unit sounded like a jet taking off and would startle us out of our sleep every time it clicked on. Ruby Tuesday is the only place near the hotel. Get a rental car or you are stuck. If you are just in and... Read more

Husband stayed home! I drove in from Williamsport, PA, my girlfriend flew in from Arizona. The shuttle took me to meet her at the airport. Our room was very comfortable. The driver was the best helping these 2 middle age women in and out of the van with patience. I went to get breakfast to take back to our room. The attendant at breakfast saw me juggling and she brought me a cardboard box to put the plates and coffee in it so I wouldn't drop anything. We stayed four nights. I've stayed here 3 s... Read more

We stayed overnight, so we could fly out early the next morning from PHL. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable although it felt a little damp. While waiting for the shuttle at 5:30 a.m., the kids enjoyed the free continental breakfast. Shuttle service was quick and professional to the airport. No problems with our car parked in their parking lot for five days. There was a daily fee to keep the car parked there which I wasn't aware of ahead of time, but i... Read more

We stayed overnight because we had an early international flight the next day. The shuttle bus picked us up in a timely manner. Upon arrival, we checked in with no problem. The room was typical for HI Express. The breakfast was the normal but good to have before heading to the airport. Everyone was amazing.

Located on the Delaware River, just south of the Airport. Has a shuttle that runs 24 hours to and from the airport. Very nice hotel, friendly helpful staff, very clean rooms, full breakfast served until 10am, It's nice to stay where you feel welcome, and not just a tourist, I loved my stay there!

I'm about to check out of the hotel after 3 weeks. I am in the area working long days, 6 days a week. This place was good enough for the first week to come back again after a one week stay in another one about an hour away. I need to come back in a week for another one week stay in the future. I will do that elsewhere. That says a lot. First of all, it's not the staff. In fact, the desk and other staff were pretty darn good. It's the TV and the internet that's the problem. The lineup of... Don't be daunted if you arrive after dark and you seem like your in the middle of nowhere...there's a lot of pubs and good restaurants close by and with the good guys of Uber there to support, you can get there in no time at all. The hotel is basic (no bar, just a vending machine for snacks) but comfortable. Word of warning if you're a light sleeper, the ice machine relentlessly clicks away in the corridor all night (thanks America for your obsession with ice cubes), the runway is behind the h...
