Stay on non-freeway side, if possible. Nice updated room (3rd floor); fridge and coffee maker in room is always nice. Very friendly desk staff. No issues with housecleaning or other services. Not close enough to downtown to walk, but access is easy enough in a car (less than 10 min).

This hotel is way overpriced for what you receive. If you ever stayed in Salem OR before you know the city is very lacking of quality hotels. I decided to pay extra this time through with the mindset that a Doubletree at this price must be a nice place. I was very disappointed. The rooms are no better than a standard 2 star hotel and the breakfast which cost extra is not worth the money. On a positive note the staff is very friendly.

Very clean and comfortable room. Staff were friendly and check in/out was a breeze. This place is very conveniently located to many restaurants and shopping. Plenty of amenities. The room service menu is a bit limited but with all the choices in the area that's a non-issue. Highly recommended.

The hotel lobby was inviting. And as a Hhonors member you're greeted with water and warm cookies (which are great if I say so myself) the room was clean on first assessment but there was a ventilation issue in the bathroom causing some mildew in corners. The staff were accommodating during a late night accident (kids and linens don't mix) the TV broke on our 2nd night. Close to a main road and transients are living in the adjacent lots near the hotel and restaurant nearby.

Loved it, clean, comfortable, convenient. We got this with HH points, had our grandkids with us, and got an upgrade to a family suite on check-in which was wonderful especially since we had a 2 day stay. This hotel was easy access to freeway and local sports field for tournament. They need to invest in improving their bed pillows which was flat as a pancake. Unfortunately, its right next door to strip joint which was odd. Homeless people panhandling around hotel approach adults and children guests asking for cash or offering to sell them something for cash. Felt uneasy while unloading kids from car since group of homeless guys started verbal assault in street about 5 feet from car..

The price was steep, but not much was available due to a large soccer tournament in town. The bed was SO comfy! I appreciated the laminate flooring in the entry area, and open feel. But cleaning underneath the sink cabinet would have been nice. And the toilet needed some elbow grease- not anything gross... Hard water and the like. But these were not nearly enough to make the visit negative. Large, QUIET room!

Disappointed to drive up after a long day and realize we'd booked a room in a hotel on the side of the highway. Reserved a king room with a sitting area. Sadly, not worth the money. We checked in on a Monday night and discovered that the rooms were small, dirty, noisy, and really outdated. Everything (breakfast, coffee, etc.) cost extra and the service was average. All-in-all I expect more from a Hilton property and almost $200 a night.

This is a nice clean hotel with ample parking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The lounge in the lobby is a very amenity but the prices are quite high. The rooms are very large and clean. The breakfast buffet was sufficient but at most hotels in Salem it would be free. Here they want $9.95 which is why my score was lower than it would have been otherwise. The Doubletree Hilton in Salem right off the freeway is a relaxing place to rest your weary head. It's clean and comfortable. Easy access from I-5 in both directions. It's located on Market Street so if you're heading into town or visiting the state capitol it's a straight drive down the road into the heart of Salem. Unfortunately, Hilton does not always acquire the best properties to re-name. This DoubleTree is situated right next to Interstate 5 on one side and a noisy access road to a McDonald's on the other side. Consequently, it's not exactly a quiet get-away. The rooms are fine, but strange, with the sink and mirror outside of the bathroom in the sleeping area. Service is excellent and a good cafe/bar area. Not a bad place, but when in the area next time, I'll look a little more outside Salem.

DoubleTree by Hilton is a GREAT chain that I stay at often on business trips (mostly for the cookies they give you when you check in). However, the DoubleTree in Salem is right next to a couple of VERY busy streets and the freeway. Rooms on the first floor south end of the building gets a great deal of traffic noise throughout the night. Disappointed, but only staying one night...not worth the trouble to move to a new room. Just be forewarned, try to get a room on the other side of the building.
