This Marriott is located perfectly - directly across from the river and walking distance to all downtown spots and Pioneer Square. Rooms are beautifully decorated and the sliding glass door opens to a small balcony. There is a small bistro restaurant and we visited the bar each morning for a Starbucks coffee beverage. At night, the restaurant serves small plates and full servings. We ordered the cheese plate, and the cheeses selected were divine! The front desk staff is incredibly helpful... Read more

Very nice location right next to the river. Rooms are spacious with really amazing lighting that give a cool feeling to the rooms. Nice sundries with great aromatics. Good exercise room. Soft pillows and very comfortable beds. Doors that open onto a balcony with great views of the river. A positive: many plugs and USB ports so you can really keep plugged in. However, the iron has not visible settings, so you can't really iron anything meaningfully; the closet has only a single door so it is alwa... Read more

I was so impressed with the check in experience and help the front desk gave me finding other guests in my group. The following day, I waited five minutes to get a checked bag while the ladies at the front chatted with each other. The meeting spaces are clean and comfortable and the room is modern. But the bed in my room (#848) is failing. I would stay here again; it's not horrible by any stretch and the location is amazing. But the customer service is really spotty.

I spent six night in the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront. The hotel is not exactly down town, but has down town access and good restaurant nearby on the Waterfront, but what made my stay exceptional was the "M Club" staff. Jose Costa was an awesome sommelier, gracious, patient and attentive. Pedro was also a nice complement. Both made the stay extra special. Definitely hope to stay at the Marriott Downtown Waterfront again. Easy access to the rail and dragon boats.

The staff here are very welcoming and go out their way to be friendly and helpful. Upon check-in the check in reservationist spent at least five minutes giving me all the restaurants and things to see in the area. The room was nice and well maintained. We had a river view room.

This Marriott looked like it recently got a modernization. Check in was easy. The lobby area was nice and modern. Our room was clean and our bed was comfortable. Our only issue with this hotel was our bathroom was small. I mean get out of the shower and a toilet is in the way small. The entire bathroom space was too little. One person max. We lived the Marriott club. It was modern, had good food, and was a fun place to hang out. The hotel has great access to the walking or biking trails... Read more

Very nice hotel. Good sized room with air conditioning but quite a bit of outside noise overnight from trains then geese? at 4.30am each day because windows are only single glazed. Breakfast choice is very good, Bistro gets very busy in an evening. Well equipped gym. One other downside was parking, the hotel is connected to a nearby car park but overnight costs are quite high.

It is nice to come to visit an aunt and uncle and be able to stay comfortably and an easy light rail ride from airport and on to their apt. Hotel includes lounges, restaurants, and has a new M Club to checkout. This location includes app-checkin. WiFi is not free and the hotel is expensive like all of the downtown hotels.

Rooms were clean, recently upgraded and comfortable. We had a waterfront view, and could walk to the few restaurants on the waterfront (Three Degrees - restaurant/drinks; McCormick and Schmicks). Parking tip -- overnight valet parking is $37/day. We parked 2 short blocks away (after dropping off luggage for check in/out) at the city's self-parking SmartPark garage (1st and Jefferson - 123 SW Jefferson St, open 24 hours) -- we paid $15 or $20 per night (depending on the day of the week). Booked this hotel for my boyfriend's birthday weekend getaway and our stay was perfect from beginning to end. The front desk staff wished him a happy birthday and upgraded our room to a room on the 15th floor with a beautiful view of the waterfront. They were considerate about our request for a quieter part of the area because we are light sleepers. Our room was clean with new modern decor and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. Great weather and a fine hotel made a very enjoyable week. From the Rose Festival Parades, and tours of Navy ships to excellent cuisine, Portland can't be beat! Food was great, people friendly and drivers respectful of pedestrians. And, pedestrians obeyed the walk/no walk signals at all intersections. Lots of homeless, but for the most part they behaved. Portland Marriott on the waterfront is a classy hotel. Great service, good food, great views of the Willamette River which is just across the ... Read more

We stayed at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront hotel over Memorial Day Weekend. We didn't have a great experience checking in, however, the rest of our stay was top-notch. We traveled from the East Coast, and when we checked in with our over-tired, sleeping 7-year-old in arms, the front desk associate was like...interrogating us for proof of our triple AAA rate and wanted to see our card. I told him I would produce it for him. Just no acknowledgement that it was like 3 a.m. For us an... Read more

I loved staying at this hotel. I was here for a business trip for 2 weeks. It was in a great location. You could walk along the water or downtown easily. You could also find public transportation easily. Within 10 blocks there was a grocery store, so if you wanted fresh fruit or anything in your room, that was in walking distance and I had a fridge. Everything was clean and the staff members were very friendly. Plus, there was an excellent gym!

I love this hotel! From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly, helpful staff. It just kept getting better and better. Seven women traveld from Florence, Oregon to Portland to go see Motown! On arrival, roll aways beds had to be moved from room to room and our bellboy did it with such grace and kindness. Later, as we exited the elevator to go to dinner we were greeted by a nice man and woman offering a signature drink made with Pinot Noir and rasberry lemonade along with fried ma... Read more

Spent 3 nights. Wonderful views of the river, it's bridges and Mt Hood. Great walks on the river right out the front door. Reasonable gym, good service at the bar and an excellent Cosmo. Our check-in person was superb, but a second desk attendant not so much. Busy and crowded but really convenient to everything and nice rooms

This hotel is right on the Willamette restaurant with easy access to downtown, mass transit, and the river walkway. The hotel was quiet and the service excellent. The room didn't have a desk (which was the first time I experienced that) but I didn't really need it. The room was small but elegantly appointed.

From the hotel, It's a 5-6 block walk to the trolley and a few more than that to the MAXX train - in my opinion, not convenient with kids or luggage. The a/c in the room was noisy and I had to turn it off to sleep. In the evening I needed ice for a sore knee and found that the ice machine was empty, requiring a trip to another floor while I was in pain. When I asked for an extra 45 minutes for check out, the desk person seemed pleased to tell my that they were fully booked and couldn't accomm... Read more

Was able to get an early check-in using mobile check-in. Valet parking was quick and efficient. Checked in within a couple of minutes. Greg at the front desk was very professional and friendly. He must be management-if not, he should be. I found a thank you card from Greg and an awesome tray outside my door a while later. Fruits and Oregon Rain water...a nice local touch. Don't hesitate to stay here!

We stayed five nights at the Portland Marriott Downtown and overall this is a very nice property. Check-in We were immediately greeted by the front desk staff and we were promptly assigned a room. Upon getting to the room we were given the wrong room type and had to go back down to change our room. This hotel has a bar in the lobby. We arrived late one evening (after dinner) and stayed out all day the following day, arriving late again. The bar noise was loud - very loud. Check-in staff were nice, and resolved a minor hiccup. The M Lounge offered a good breakfast buffet - we did not use it in the evening. The room was relatively small, the A/C equipment could be quieter, and the bathroom was on the small side. The renovated room and bathroom were perfectly clean. Location is good, better w... Great Portland experience. Made me want to come back for a longer stay-cation. Waterfront location has a river view that is hard to clone. Park is right outside the front door for a stroll or a jog. Hotel is within 10 minutes walking distance from the University district, 15 minutes from the Downtown district. Local transportation is excellent. The hotel has always done a great job especially when considering the large number of people staying there for the festival and going to the after hours concerts at the hotel. We arrived at the hotel from the east coast which meant that we were exhausted. A hotel person greeted us very nicely but, in response to my shocked look at a long line to register, said, very flippantly!!, "Yup, that's the line!" - a very discouraging comment upon arrival! My thought was: well then, why don't you go behind the counter and help shorten the line! The rest of the stay was OK - rooms are a bit small but clear, staff was generally very nice, bar food (one evening) was very good.

We were at this hotel for 4 nights and found the room lacking in the following ways: (1) switching the handheld device to the overhead shower was a challenge and not at all obvious. We called "at your service" and the employee had no idea and said he would call us back. He never did and in the meantime we figured it out; (2) there is ambient lighting above the headboard and under the tv but once again impossible to figure out how to turn off. The location of this hotel is good, it's in the downtown area near the waterfront (not ON the water, because there's a busy road and a waterfront park between you and the water). When I made my reservation, I was offered the option of choosing a water view for an extra amount, I think it was $40. I turned that down. I'm still getting used to not having a desk in the room but really like the added various touches (lots of USB ports and lighting). The M Club and expanded fitness center are huge pluses. Enjoyed our too short 3 night stay visiting Portland for the 1st time. Nice hotel, good renovations, clean. We had a room on high floor overlooking the Koin Center. Although up high, I had one night when I heard all the street traffic and even a late night event. The gym was nicely equipped and had complimentary ice water and fruit and disposable ear buds. Internet connection was good. Be careful to make sure whether it is complimentary or a fee.
