This Marriott is located perfectly - directly across from the river and walking distance to all downtown spots and Pioneer Square. Rooms are beautifully decorated and the sliding glass door opens to a small balcony. There is a small bistro restaurant and we visited the bar each morning for a Starbucks coffee beverage. At night, the restaurant serves small plates and full servings. We ordered the cheese plate, and the cheeses selected were divine! The front desk staff is incredibly helpful... Read more

Very nice location right next to the river. Rooms are spacious with really amazing lighting that give a cool feeling to the rooms. Nice sundries with great aromatics. Good exercise room. Soft pillows and very comfortable beds. Doors that open onto a balcony with great views of the river. A positive: many plugs and USB ports so you can really keep plugged in. However, the iron has not visible settings, so you can't really iron anything meaningfully; the closet has only a single door so it is alwa... Read more

I was so impressed with the check in experience and help the front desk gave me finding other guests in my group. The following day, I waited five minutes to get a checked bag while the ladies at the front chatted with each other. The meeting spaces are clean and comfortable and the room is modern. But the bed in my room (#848) is failing. I would stay here again; it's not horrible by any stretch and the location is amazing. But the customer service is really spotty.

I spent six night in the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront. The hotel is not exactly down town, but has down town access and good restaurant nearby on the Waterfront, but what made my stay exceptional was the "M Club" staff. Jose Costa was an awesome sommelier, gracious, patient and attentive. Pedro was also a nice complement. Both made the stay extra special. Definitely hope to stay at the Marriott Downtown Waterfront again. Easy access to the rail and dragon boats.

The staff here are very welcoming and go out their way to be friendly and helpful. Upon check-in the check in reservationist spent at least five minutes giving me all the restaurants and things to see in the area. The room was nice and well maintained. We had a river view room.

This Marriott looked like it recently got a modernization. Check in was easy. The lobby area was nice and modern. Our room was clean and our bed was comfortable. Our only issue with this hotel was our bathroom was small. I mean get out of the shower and a toilet is in the way small. The entire bathroom space was too little. One person max. We lived the Marriott club. It was modern, had good food, and was a fun place to hang out. The hotel has great access to the walking or biking trails... Read more

Very nice hotel. Good sized room with air conditioning but quite a bit of outside noise overnight from trains then geese? at 4.30am each day because windows are only single glazed. Breakfast choice is very good, Bistro gets very busy in an evening. Well equipped gym. One other downside was parking, the hotel is connected to a nearby car park but overnight costs are quite high.

It is nice to come to visit an aunt and uncle and be able to stay comfortably and an easy light rail ride from airport and on to their apt. Hotel includes lounges, restaurants, and has a new M Club to checkout. This location includes app-checkin. WiFi is not free and the hotel is expensive like all of the downtown hotels.

Rooms were clean, recently upgraded and comfortable. We had a waterfront view, and could walk to the few restaurants on the waterfront (Three Degrees - restaurant/drinks; McCormick and Schmicks). Parking tip -- overnight valet parking is $37/day. We parked 2 short blocks away (after dropping off luggage for check in/out) at the city's self-parking SmartPark garage (1st and Jefferson - 123 SW Jefferson St, open 24 hours) -- we paid $15 or $20 per night (depending on the day of the week). Great weather and a fine hotel made a very enjoyable week. From the Rose Festival Parades, and tours of Navy ships to excellent cuisine, Portland can't be beat! Food was great, people friendly and drivers respectful of pedestrians. And, pedestrians obeyed the walk/no walk signals at all intersections. Lots of homeless, but for the most part they behaved. I loved staying at this hotel. I was here for a business trip for 2 weeks. It was in a great location. You could walk along the water or downtown easily. You could also find public transportation easily. Within 10 blocks there was a grocery store, so if you wanted fresh fruit or anything in your room, that was in walking distance and I had a fridge. Everything was clean and the staff members were very friendly. Plus, there was an excellent gym!

From the hotel, It's a 5-6 block walk to the trolley and a few more than that to the MAXX train - in my opinion, not convenient with kids or luggage. The rooms were very nice, the location right off the river made for excellent eople watching the the proximity to great food is a huge plus. I stayed in a king bed room and the space was big enough. The exercise facility is clean and the restaurants are very good.

Very nice, clean, and well maintained hotel on the downtown waterfront. Beautiful views, friendly staff, updated rooms. However, they don't offer any kind of Pool - neither swimming pool nor pool table. Highly recommended. After all, its a Marriott.

We stayed there for 4 nights and the service was superb. I'm a Marriott Platinum member and no Marriott has better service than this hotel (some equal it, though). I believe the woman I dealt with was named Cherize (sp?) and she couldn't have been more helpful. Rooms are small but nice, though we had a very nice upgrade, and facing the water was great (we had a terrace too). And the location was also very good. The hotel was renovated last year, and they could've made it more modern looking--th... Read more

We stayed at the Marriott for 3 nights in September 2016. Check- in was efficient and friendly and the rooms spacious and well appointed. There were loads of power points and USB sockets too. Complementary tea, coffee and bottled water. Could have done with a safe in the room but the reception had deposit boxes available. Wi-fi was free in the lobby but $9.99 a day in the rooms. The highlight had to be breakfast which was extraordinary in its variety and service. We opted for while u wait omelet... Read more

This hotel was a good base to explore from, and the rooms were very comfortable. It was about a 30 minute walk to most things (with some closer, but major food pods at about that distance)- walkable (if you like walking) to the Japanese Gardens or across the river. There aren't a ton of food options that are nearby and open on the weekends. The hotel restaurant does do a good job, but for a short walk, you can find more variety.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here. The front desk reception area is fantastic. From Valet to check in all the way to room arrival, no real issues. Friendly efficient and well organized. The room is a different story. We stayed in a 2 queen room. The rooms are very modern and recently remodeled. The issues I encountered are only 1 chair in room, so you have to sit on bed to watch TV or talk if there is more than 1, which occurs if 2 queens. Secondly, the bathroom door is a sliding door whi... Read more

For people who travel a lot and spend a considerable amount of time in hotels, basic comforts of home are crucial. I checked in just a few hours ago for 6 nights and am already frustrated. For nightly rates in the $300+ range, business travellers would no doubt receive more comfort elsewhere for less. While the room I was given has evidently been recently renovated, it lacks a considerable amount to consider it 1) modern and 2) suitable for business. For example: - There is no desk to work ... I spent two nights at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront and it was fantastic! The rooms are modern and extremely comfortable, the fitness center is great, and so is the location! Look for Pedro in the MClub Lounge for you Rewards members! He was fantastic? The ONE thing I'll say is that the light switches are a bit difficult to figure out at first, but it's all worth it! I love this place!

First things first, we'd like to thank restaurant manager Eric for ensuring our stay was special. He does his job very well! Thanks also to the lady on the front desk (Jesika?) for her first rate customer service skills. The hotel's location, food and level of service was excellent.

This is a very nice hotel. Our room had a great view of the river and also Mt. Hood. The room was very nice but a bit on the small side. There was a tiny clothes closet and a very small vanity outside the toilet and shower. The carpet was a good quality and clean. The bed was very comfortable.

I frequently travel accompanied by my adult son. We booked two rooms, and asked for consideration to be in close proximity, however, not mandatory. I have a sleep disorder and always request a corner or end room, as far away from guests banging doors, hallway noise, elevators, etc. I booked a concierge level room for me with a river view, and a king river view room for my son, requesting high floors, QUIET areas. To be sure my reservation requests were noted, I called the hotel 3 times week... Read more

Absolutely no issues with any of the staff we encountered during our 4-night stay and things were kept nice and neat, BUT significant issues with the room we were given. SO and I were in town for a conference being held at the hotel. Our room had no drawers for clothing storage (save for one above the mini-fridge in the closet), no drawers underneath the miniscule nightstand, no desk and no proper desk chair. There was a chaise lounge-like thing and a small table surface... but certainly not sui... Read more

I stayed at the hotel during a conference and found it to be a very convenient location for exploring downtown Portland and walking/jogging along the waterfront. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. My room on one of the club floors was clean and nicely updated and had a great view of the river. Room service meals were generally good; I only had one meal in which the batter on the fish was not edible. I would stay here again if visiting Portland.

I have to say that this is one of the best run Marriott's I have been at for quite some time. I was recently there on a four day business trip. I found the staff to be most customer friendly on all areas; bell staff, front desk, meeting room staff, M Club staff, and restaurant staff. Someone has done some excellent training. The room was updated and clean. As per a previous review, I agree that the one drawer to store clothes is a bit small if you have more than one person in the room for a... Read more

I stayed at this hotel for two nights on a business trip. The room was quite small, but had pretty much everything that a solo traveler could want. It is modern, and some of the choices they made are interesting. I have seen this trend in Marriott hotels lately - a glass bathroom door. This is fine when I am alone in the room, but if I had to share a room with my spouse or even, heaven forbid, a work colleague, I would not use the bathroom. Not even once. Renovated hotel - room was smallish (single bed/solo traveler) but confortable. Decor fits the area - sort of boho-chic, pulling in local details (bikes/lumber) feels more like a loft apartment than a hotel room. Important to me the room was reasonably quiet for both outside city and hotel noise. Heavy drapes kept the room dark for sleeping. Front desk/lounge staff very friendly. This is a nice hotel, don't get me wrong. But the room was not without flaws. It was way too small for a family with (almost) adult children. Biggest issue was the bathroom. It was tiny and all inclusive. If someone had to go to the bathroom there was a significant lack of privacy with sound and the frosted barn style door.
