the hotel rate was high when booked and increase by $180 by check in. this required a manager to bring it back down to the original quoted price. Parking was not included and a $42 per day charge was an addition. The bar was closed for renovation and apparently the room housekeeping was too. The room looked nothing like the pictures, one wash cloth for four people, no kleenex in the box, empty coffee box, no pretty pillows on the beds, and no amenities. The hotel lowered the "guest fee" bec... Read more

We stayed at the Heathman hotel over mother's day weekend and enjoyed it tremendously. They have valet parking and when you check in they offer you complimentary sparkling wine or water. We stayed in a connecting rooms with a king size bed in each. The beds were super comfortable and I liked having a sitting chair in my room and the chaise lounge chair in my kids room. The amenities in the bathroom were nice as were the robes. The restaurant is getting a facelift so we didn't have a chance... Read more

This is a very nice hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, the staff is very helpful, and it is centrally-located. There isn't too much that's special (except sparkling wine at check-in, which is nice), but it's a very good hotel. The big problem when I was there was that the restaurant was closed for renovation, which meant there was no restaurant or bar on the property. I might stay at the hotel again, but not until the restaurant is up and operating.

So I read about this hotel and how it was historic and old school, etc. Yes, it is a nice hotel and I would say the best part is the lobby/lounge/library which has a lot of books and comfortable seating in a historic setting. However, for the price I paid I was disappointed in the room. While it was nicely appointed, it didn't wow me at all. The AC/heat fan was very loud and it was hard to regulate the temperature in the room. My window view was of the side of the next door building. The restau... Read more

This hotel...words can't escape. Before I checked-in, they give you an option for the kind of bed you want. The linens are supreme. Bathroom amenities - very good. It felt awful to get out of bed & head-out because it's the most comfortable bed ever. Staff is very good. Breakfast which was included with our room thru AMEX's Fine Hotel was fine. But we had dinner at their restaurant & I would say, there are other better restaurants to try. We were so disappointed with that. Made us wish ... Read more

From the time pulled up in the taxi, I stepped in door, greeted by the reception desk, I was treated as a valued customer and guest. It's the little things that go a long way, the complimentary sparkling wine or water at check in and the various unexpected amenities in the room. The bed was amazing, ample towels in the bathroom. The separate sink and shower was very handy not to mention very attractive with the dark wood and glass. I look forward to my next trip to PDX and my next stay at the H... Read more

If it had been posted or stated on your website that the dining room and bar were closed for renovations during this time we would have postponed our anniversary visit. Let me start with the con of this hotel. There is a bottle of water on the desk for sale for $15. Ridiculous! Go to the Walgreen's down the street and get 2 for $3. Now the pros! The location of the hotel is great! Within a few blocks you have great restaurants and transportation. The room was spacious for a hotel in SF. If you want quiet ask for a non street view. We could hear the people and the Cable Car! Loved it! At night just turn the A/C on and fall asleep on the most comfortable bed yo... Read more

Heathman remains a special place in Portland from the moment I booked the Art suite complete with art by artists from the Pacific NW years ago to celebrate a family birthday. I don't have one complaint about the Heathman. It was so beautiful and relaxing. I just left yesterday and I want to go back. The beds were amazing!!! This was honestly the best hotel I've ever stayed in and I've traveled a lot. It's not really for families since there's no pool. The rooms were very clean and that's what I look at first. I will stay there again soon, I hope!!!

I love the Heathman. It's not inexpensive, but it delivers a great experience in a grand, historic hotel. The staff are always, without fail, responsive and helpful without being intrusive or stuffy. The location is unbeatable and allows one to pretty much walk to anything one wants (e.g., restaurants, shows, bars). When we're in Portland, this is where we stay.

We stayed four nights in Portland, two at other hotels but two at this hotel and it was our favorite. The only reason we didn't stay longer is they were sold out and I'm not surprised. The room was beautiful, well cleaned and bigger than the other hotels we stayed. The bathrooms are a little small but not as bad as other reviews make it sound. We almost didn't stay here because of some other reviews but that would have been a mistake! The restaurant was closed but we will be back when it is... Read more

I have traveled extensively in my line of work and found myself in a unique situation with a grand old hotel in Portland, Oregon. Not to their fault, but a situation that made things difficult for me. The hotel manager dedicated much of his time and effort into solving the issues while also being kind and sensitive. The room was beautiful, the staff was professional, the city is fantastic, and the manager is forever a new friend because he cares about his guests.

We love the Heathman for it's location (just far enough off the beaten path to be quiet, but close enough to be convenient), it's staff (super friendly), the lounge for tea or a nightcap, the comfy (if small) rooms and nice amenities. We love the Cacao shop downstairs for real hot cocoa (so much better than a Starbucks). We used to love the brunch, but the restaurant is undergoing renovation this time...should be ready by Oct 2016.

I loved the location of the Heathman Hotel. It was right in the heart of Portland. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. You should ask them for suggestions on what to do around the area. They gave me superb recommendations. I loved the lounge area, it was cozy plus in the 2nd floor, you can actually just chill and read books. I enjoyed my stay in Heathman and service was top notch. My husband and I chose to stay at The Heathman hotel, mainly due to its very convenient location, as we were in Portland to see Steve Martin and Martin Short at the Schnitzer. Good location. Friendly staff. They told me my room was a "spacious king" and an upgrade, but it seemed older, was pretty small, with a somewhat cramped bathroom and a tiny sink. The restaurant was closed. When I asked for a cup of coffee in the morning, they told me they don't have any (other than room service) and suggested I go to a coffee shop.
