First, this embassy suites is in a historic building in downtown Portland. If you are looking for a brand new facility with state of the art rooms, look elsewhere. Compared to other embassy suites I've stayed at they do a great job keeping this place up. The rooms are smaller than normal but remember this is an historic building. They are limited to what the can do to preserve the historic value. Breakfast was always top notch (i satued here several times between October 2015-january 2016) and s... Read more

We traveled to Portland with an infant and they were very accommodating. A crib was provided in our suite when we arrived and at the time of visit, the hotel was fairly quiet. I believe there was another baby in the room next door since we could hear them a little, but they were not disturbing. We did have a issue with our room, but they did resolve it right away.

Sara at the front desk was especially helpful in getting me the right room. Elle was also great in helping with packages. Very clean hotel, very nice staff and convenient to lots of restaurants. The Managers Reception was a bit dis-appointing, the only free beer were the local beers.

Our group is currently staying at the Embassy Suites and I had to write a review for the excellent customer service we received last night. We were in a pinch to print documents for a meeting this morning, and Loreal Baltazar provided great customer service at the front desk. She was kind, professional, helpful, and kept us updated on the status of our printing from start to finish. The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, and close to many landmarks in downtown Portland. The hotel room and foyer was lovely. There were two tvs a fridge/microwave and separate bedroom/living room. The old bathroom with a shower head over a bath is old fashioned, and sadly, they still charge $9-90 per day for internet access.(free to HH Honours) The biggest drawback, is the area (next to Chinatown) where there are hundreds of vagrants/druggies/alcoholics/homeless sleeping on street corners and asking for change.

The entry lobby echoes the celebrities and important visitors from days gone by. Every corner has the history and fine details of the original hotel preserved for current guests to enjoy. A must for visiting the city of Portland. Easily walk to most downtown points of interest or quick mass transit ride.

What a gorgeous old hotel! The lobby and common areas are ornate and old-world, yet the suites are modern and spacious. We booked two connecting 1 bedroom suites for ourselves and son with his wife and baby. It was very clean, and each room had a mini kitchenette, including microwave and mini fridge. The hotel staff were all very friendly too, including the housekeeping and valet service. The location is perfect for staying downtown and being able to walk around. We also caught the street ca... There is nothing particularly wrong about this hotel, but then again there is nothing particularly wrong with a lukewarm bath. It will get the job done, but it won't be particularly memorable. Pros: The staff here are uniformly wonderful and friendly, and they are without doubt the reason what makes the hotel what it is. Now the cons. None are major, but niggling enough to merit mentioning: The room, a corner suite, had the noisiest a/c ever, which made sleeping difficult. The bedding was ... Read more

This is the best hotel in Portland. It is centrally located, the rooms are quite large, and the staff members are some of the nicest people you will meet. We have stayed here several times and have never been disappointed. They provide breakfast every morning and a manager's reception of light snacks and drinks in the evening @ 5:30 pm. You will pay a premium for parking, but that is expected in urban centers.

There are other hotels in downtown Portland, and we have stayed at all of them I think. This Embassy Hotel is great. We like the setting and 'ambiance'. We like the staff. It's in a good location. When problems arise with the equipment in rooms, it is handled immediately. The management is great. Attitudes are splendid. My wife and I have stayed at least half dozen times and will be staying several more times. Great accommodations.

The hotel was great.Service very good accommodations very comfortable. We visited with our children and the worst part was walking the streets surrounding the hotel area because the streets are filled with homeless people and crazy people. That ruined our experience. Hopefully Portland will get a handle on their problem with the homeless. Not recommended for families.

We were in Portland for our daughter's graduation last week and stayed at The Embassy Suites because we had stayed there twice in the past and always loved it. I love the hotel, it is very old but has been updated beautifully without compromising the character of the building. The free breakfast and cocktail hour definitely offset the price. This became our home away from home for 5 nights. The "free" breakfast offers you more than you could want and the happy hour provided each night gave you plenty of snacks and a drink or two to hold you over until dinner. The rooms are huge! This Embassy Suites Hotel is located in an historic building. It is in downtown Portland, but as we found out, it is a little outside the shopping area and away from the busiest part of the city. We returned our rental car and took the Max to the center city to check into this hotel for our last night in Oregon. Based on the reviews we read, we expected groups and camps of homeless people around the hotel. That was not the case. No one ever approached us to ask for anything and we didn't notice any issues. the lobby of this hotel is quite grand and the suite was updated and clean. We ordinarily stay at the Hilton Towers for location but this is our second choice despite the trek from our office. The rooms are Hilton first class standard with the added suite feature, the restaurant downstairs has become first rate (not so much a few years ago), and the breakfast is classic. If you self-park, drive carefully. The garage puts two-way traffic on a one-way thoroughfare, and you need to emulate Aunt Sarah to avoid unhappy encounters.

The location here is great as I was able to get a rental car, Stumptown Coffee and brunch at Bijou Cafe all across the street from this hotel. However having the feeling of something crawling on you while in bed brought the rating way way down. My first night there I was awakened at 3:00am with the feeling of something crawling on my legs, back, chest and face. There was nothing visible on the bed itself which led me to believe it was dust mites. I'm a dead sleeper and I was exhausted so t... Read more

The hotel is better than average for Embassy Suits, however, the location is not great. Many homeless and transients high on drugs or alcohol all around the hotel. At night we felt unsafe just walking couple blocks to restaurants and had to take Uber. Next time would definitely stay at another part of town.

I love this embassy suites, great location, friendly staff, great breakfast, and larglarge clean suites. It is a older hotel, but in A rustic sense, I didn't get a rundown feeling at all. The bar and restaurant is one of the better hotel bars I have ever been too, they had a wonderful piano player and the overall staff was awesome. Just returned from a fantastic stay in Portland. This hotel was perfectly located in the downtown area close to everything. We didn't have a car, so needed someplace walkable to many attractions and public transportation. The Embassy Suites did not disappoint. The Max was a block away and Pioneer Square was about five. The Max takes you just about anywhere you might want to go. If you want overrated but very cool doughnuts, VooDoo Doughnuts is literally across the street. The Saturday ma... Read more

I truly wish I could give this historical gem of a hotel a higher rating, but we were disappointed. We had a 2-room suite on the top floor along the street (not an inside corridor); the rooms were of excellent size with a very comfortable bed and couch, although most of the furnishings were a bit aged. It was convenient to walk from there to public transit and the riverside park. But there was a smell of sewage along the riverside and at manholes on the public streets, and the streets themselves... My family and I spent just one night at this Embassy Suites this past weekend. We were up from Eugene visiting the Portland Zoo with our two young children. In the past, we have stayed at the Monaco but thought to give this hotel a try since it has an indoor pool. We were given a room on the Mezzanine level. At first we were concerned about noise as this level seems to house all the conference and ballrooms and it is also just above street level. There did not appear to be any events happen... Read more

We were lucky to have a beautiful, well appointed, and clean corner suite on the 7th floor (703). Windows on 3 sides allowed for the best views. We enjoyed everything about our stay. The pool was great and the kids loved it. The only unfortunate things were that all but one elevator was broken, which caused us to waste a lot of time waiting, (not going to try using stairs when carrying luggage for a family) and the breakfast area was so crowded with no available seating that we opted not to even... I booked a suite with my wife and 10 month old son and Embassy Suites put us in a room right next to the elevator bank, so every time one of the three elevators was moving, you could hear it loudly in the room. The windows had a wall about 20 ft away so there was no view at all, and also low natural light - that combined with the low powered lighting in the room, the room was always dark. Stop by Voodoo Donuts a few blocks away from an extraordinary donut experience. Not a big deal, but the gift shop apparently is not tied in to the hotel computer system, if you want to charge something to your room, they have to call the front desk for approval - we just used cash.
