I recently booked two rooms at this hotel over Valentine's Day weekend. One of the rooms had a terrible, corpse-like smell. However, the hotel was full due to the holiday weekend. Naturally, I was dissatisfied with my stay. The hotel manager was difficult to contact. I requested a call back, was ignored, and after 48 hours, she called me back. She said, "it was not the fault of the hotel", and that a bird had flown into a vent and passed away. I was given points instead of the monetary refund I ... Read more

For work, leisure and conventions my husband and I have stayed in a number of hotels in Portland over the years, and the Candlewood Suites is by far the best. This was our first time staying here and it's now at the top of our list and will be the 'go-to' place when next in town. We took advantage of the hotels complimentary airport shuttle. Our flight arrived after 10 PM, we gave the hotel a call, and after only a 5 minute wait they were there to pick us up. The check-in clerk was friendly and ... Read more

Due to a promotion I was transferred to the Oregon / Washington area I needed an affordable place that was safe for both myself and my daughter as we look for a rental home for the whole family. Heather was awesome and helped to calm my fears and helped us to get all settled in. Jose was kind enough to escort us to the local target and driving slow enough to allow us to see the landmarks. The room is nicely appointed and does smell freshly cleaned. You can not hear the air traffic or for th... Read more

I stayed at the Candlewood Suites-Portland for a night due to a delayed flight. The hotel itself is about five-drive to Portland airport and free shuttle service is provided to/from airport also Cascade station. The bed was comfortable and clean. The restroom was spacious, but there was no surface area to put your stuff, like clothes, washing bags, etc. It was also disappointed that they don't offer breakfast as an extended-stay style hotel. Overall, this is not a bad place to stay if you have t... Read more

Stayed again for a couple of nights. This is now my go to hotel for PDX. Staff are professional and helpful. Rooms are well layed out and clean. Easy access to the max as the shuttle will drop you at the Cascade train stop.

I only stayed here one night, as I needed some place close to the airport. I was surprised there was a full-sized refrigerator, a cooktop, and a dishwasher. Although I didn't need any of these amenities for my stay, it was a very affordable price for a place with a kitchen. The airport shuttle stopped running at 11:00 pm, and my flight landed after that time. Upon calling the hotel, I was told to take a taxi, and they would cover the cost, which they did. The taxi driver was upset about hav... Read more

Having booked very late towards the long weekend, I feel the cost/day is acceptable. The location is very apt while moving around Portland. While booking I thought there is complementary breakfast, but found that its not available while checking in. However, the suite had more or less complete kitchen. So, it helped as there is no vegetarian restaurant nearby. However, the front office staffs need to be sent for behavioral classes, as I found them rude and showing 'dont-care' type of attitude. ... Nothing bad but nothing spectacular either. Staff needs to interact a bit more. Act like they don't like to talk. Gym is old needs repaired. Laundry was fine. Rooms clean. Not to much more to say. Okay solid just not amazing. I really don't know more to add a lot to eat within 1/2 mile.

I feel like we paid WAY TOO much for this hotel. We were in town for a soccer tournament. I feel $100-$120 would be ok, there is no pool and no breakfast. They do have a dvd library to borrow, and lots of appliances to borrow too. (It seems like a place to stay for longer stays) they do have a mini kitchen, which we didn't know about before we came. The phones were down, and there were loud sounds coming from the sink during the night... again ... NOT worth the $170 they charged us AT ALL.

I think for what it is... a reasonably priced hotel near the airport (i.e. nothing glamorous) it was fine. Before taxes & fees I paid $129/night. The front desk staff was ok. My room was clean and comfortable. I specifically chose this place because it has a little kitchen area (with full size refrigerator and microwave), it has a regular parking lot (no parking charges), they have a washer/dryer you can use on the main floor (so you can pack less clothes!), and it's close to the airport. NIce place to stay for someone staying for a week or so for business. NIce option for that with functional kitchen, large laundry, decent fitness facility, and free DVD library. My only knock was that one computer was down in the business center, and the main A/C cratered the second night we were there. Made for a rough night with the room A/C running way more than one would like.

This is almost a very good hotel. It's in a good location and the rooms are spacious. Unfortunately a couple of things let the place down... I stayed for a week and the wifi was constantly dropping the connection. I did complain but was told that I may be better off doing my work in their business centre. A bit of an inconvenience and should be unnecessary in an almost $200p/night room. There was also some confusion over my and a few other rooms. One person was checking in with his family only ... If you need a room near the airport, this is certainly a property to consider. Surprisingly, there was virtually minimal noise. There are many choices in the area but I think the Customer Service at this property gives it a leg up on the competition. There are not many eateries within walking distance (in the middle of an industrial area) but Cascades Station is just about 2 miles away on the other side of I-205. If you have a car, it's five minutes away. The hotel does offer a free shuttle... Read more

The Good: I have stayed at this Candlewood Suites several times in the past two years. The rooms are clean, and it has a good location and decent rates, plus a shuttle that will drive you within 3 miles of the hotel, and pick you up at the airport. The Horrendous: Some of the front desk staff are pleasant enough, even though they lack severely in the upbeat personality department. The last few times I have stayed, the housekeeping staff has driven me nuts. Holding the elevators endlessly,... Read more

I stayed here one night recently, and found the hotel to be fine, but nothing special. The room was well appointed, and the bed was comfortable, but it was very bare bones. I didn't have a chance to be there through the morning as I had an early flight, so I won't comment on the food, but they don't have a place to eat in the hotel, instead it's more of a self-service store where guests can buy items for their breakfast, etc. It's in a very good location though; only about 1 mile or so from PDX.

Took a trip to Portland, Seattle and Vancouver. Portland was the first night's stop. When I'm unsure of a city's layout, I prefer a hotel near its major airport. This Candlewood Suites is about 5 minutes from the airport. Location: This location is less than 3 miles to the terminal of the airport. The google map reflects that it would be in a landing or takeoff path. However, airplane noise was minimal. The distance to downtown Portland was about 25 minutes. The distance to the Multno... I had an early flight so I checked-in the night before. Hotel staff was very friendly, room was clean, and bed was extremely comfortable. I've stayed in lux hotels before, and the comfort here was comparable! They have a shuttle to the airport, free of charge, with very kind drivers. I definitely recommend staying here if you need something close to an airport. There are not that many food options in the area, yet the hotel gift shop has anything you would possibly need for a night.

The hotel is nice but not really that great for young families. We booked the place in a pinch based on price. It is more for business travelers who are in town for an extended amount of time. That said, the rooms were nice clean. As well, the staff was very friendly.

We stayed for three nights. We found our room so small that it felt like the bed was in the middle of the kitchen. On the other hand, the kitchen was fully furnished, as others have noted. We did not realize until we arrived that there is no room service at all unless you stay a week. You can request that your room be cleaned before then, but you have to call the desk before 8 AM on the day you want the room serviced. I tried to make a request the evening before and was told nope, I had to call ... Read more

Having a mobility disabled room is very important to us which is why I focus my reviews on this aspect. We were in room 211, a designated "handicapped" room. First the bathroom. It was very spacious with a roll-in shower. A nice padded fold down shower seat and long enough water hose to reach the bench. There were adequate number and well placed grab rails. Unfortunately no counter space at the sink area leaving us to put things on the floor. The bathroom door was very wide which made get... Read more

People were nice, young lady with a nose piercing, however the room was just okay. Sheets were very thin and the big problem was the pillows smelled like a lot of people had been there that had not washed their hair in a long time. The pro s were it was very close to the Thrifty and Budget rental car turn-in. Thats about it as far as good points, and the other is it is close to a Panera's for rolls in the morning

Do not stay there, not only the manager is rude, but she is very unwilling to work with you and they have a very high damage fees on things that never happened. I was charged $200 for a broken microwave and once again, for something that never happened. The microwave it's still in place room 506.

Wonderful hotel. Friendly staff. Free laundry. Free parking. Free area transportation to shopping, dining, airport, or train to go downtown. About 2 miles from the airport. Close enough to hear the planes go by. Updated newer property. I stay here when I fly out of PDX for the park, sleep and fly option. It's a little pricey this time of year. About $179+ . You get up to 10 days of free parking for the price. They have a small cantina inside with some snack and frozen food options. There are plenty of restaurants close by but not really in close walking distance. They do have a Jimmy Johns that will deliver here. The rooms are nice, ... Read more

An appealing place to stay, except one can really hear clomping feet from the room above. However, the website does not disclose an outrageous $25/day dog fee (cats not allowed), mentioning only a maximum fee of $75/week. I will challenge this unscrupulous hide-the-ball policy when the Visa bill arrives.

Smallest extended stay room I've stayed in. It was even small for a regular hotel room. There was no option to keep the fan running on the air conditioner and the quiet room with thin walls made every low flying plane and nearby train incredibly loud. This Candlewood Hotel is an extended stay hotel near Portland, OR Airport.
