It was just ok. Weird smell in the hallways and rooms. Staff is friendly. Beds are comfortable. Shower would go cold and hot not really the best way to start your morning. Location however is fantastic. Great restaurants in walking distance. Strongly recommend stopping at Melt Bar and Grill.

We had an emergency and had to stop and book a hotel. There were a few in the area but we love the DoubleTree so we went here first. They were very accommodating even though they were practically full due to a wedding. We didn't have any toiletries, they had everything on hand. The staff was very friendly, I can't say enough about them. Our room was an average room. The pool and hot tub were nice. And of course who doesn't love their cookies?!

If you want to avoid the parking garages and valet in downtown Cleveland then stay in Independence. It is a short drive into center city, and this hotel is far cleaner and a better value overall. Easy access to major highways.

From the time I checked in and got my warm cookie, until the time I checked out, I was pleased with this hotel. The staff were warm and friendly. The room was spacious and clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable. I usually don't sleep well the first night in a new environment, but I slept extremely well. The hotel was within walking distance of a few places to eat, so it was convenient. I wanted to stay in a nice hotel for this trip and I certainly got that!

The people at this hotel were some of the most helpful and friendly people we have encoutered in our travels. Every person that worked at this hotel said something everytime you saw them....hello....good morning....good afternoon....have a great day, etc. We were very impressed by this. The room was ok. It seemed that we may have been in the timeshare rooms. I did reveiw this property and the manager has already gotten back with me stating that the problems I mentioned were repaired. So aga... The hotel & room itself are great. Very clean, bed was very comfortable & hotel is quiet. Plus it's a mere 5 miles from downtown Cleveland right up 77 North. Perfect location & some great restaurants in the area, including Shula's right in the hotel. My only issue is after looking at my bill hours after I left I noticed lots of little taxes & fees. Not to mention a $27 dollar maid/room cleaning fee. I've never seen this before through a hotel. It was already $140 a night & for 2 nights I expecte... Read more

We looked forward to this week end trip. The room itself was fine, but the restaurant was a bad experience. When I got my glass of wine, I had to point out to the waitress that the glass was filthy. My husbands glass was chipped. When he got his second drink, that glass was chipped also. The food was cold, and the steak was ok. When my husband told the waitress about the cold vegetables, she brought more, and they were cold also. We would never go back to this restaurant.

Dont ever go for breakfast here. All they serve you is coffee in someone else's used cup. The freshly made eggs order doesnt meet your expectations and the oil used is old, stale and smelly. Gym room stinks and has no ventilation. No water as well. Coffee maker in the room still has previously used coofee residue and wasnt cleaned. So when we tried to brew our beverage, all we got was old coffee residue water. Never going there again !!

This is a fairly nice property, but we got stuck in the wrong room. Room 101 is right across from the elevators - a puzzling location if you ask me. Consequently, you get to listen to people chatter while they are waiting for the elevator. Also, this is an adjoining room to 100. The adjoining doors must be paper thin, so you'll get to listen to the people next door talk and whatever TV station they choose to watch, too. Other problems - the bathtub drain barely functioned. We recently spent a week at the DoubleTree in Independence. The rooms are up to the usual HIlton standards: clean, comfortable beds, an assortment of bed pillows, and the ability to easily control the room temperature. Everyone from the front desk personnel to the cleaning personnel were professional and courteous. The only issue I had is that we came in on a red-eye flight and arrived at 9:00 a.m. Regular check-in is at 3:00, and the hotel was sold out the evening before, so we weren't able... Read more

Really nice and clean room, always love the cookies on check in! The staff was friendly but gave us a hard time checking in. I was unable to be there so I sent my husband and they would not let him check in even with my photo ID. Disappointed with our stay, had upgraded to the larger room to accommodate our 2 kids under the age of 2. The bathroom had spiders and ants and the carpet appeared worn and dirty. Parts of the room were updated but others were clearly old. The table and bar were etched/marked/old. It appears this hotel was bought by Hilton from a lower end chain and made half the updates required. Water from the pool was all over the lobby floor. Second time I stayed here, first when it was transferring ownership. This hotel is very clean, no fancy beds or amenities but clean. It's also quiet, not warm and greeting but quiet. It's expensive for the area, the highest costing hotel at the exit, and breakfast is not for everything except a paper cup of reg. coffee and a cookie that's slid to you with your key and no smile. There are others across the street you'd do better to stay at with a family.

We stayed for a night at Doubletree to addend a wedding. I liked many things about the hotel, it is close to highway but nestled in a quiet surroundings with lots of trees and parking. Reception was very friendly and offered water bottle and warm cookie at check-in. Beds are super comfortable with 4 pillows which guaranteed comfort. On the minus side, there is no complimentary breakfast and wireless was slow. But the hotel offers good value. I'll come again.

It was a great room in a convenient location. The bathrooms are a little dark but overall the comfortable beds make up for it. LOWEST, SMALLEST, TOILET !!! I have ever sat on .... since the age of 5 :O 14" from floor to seat !!! Did they get this from a Toys R Us outlet ? As for the rest of the property, nothing terrible, but also nothing different than the standard Doubletree formula. Except, I didn't get offered 'the cookie' and wasn't greeted as a Hilton Diamond member when checking in. This is the result of poor staff training. Our experience here was very positive. We arrived shortly before 3:00pm -- they had an available room so we were allowed to check in (the check in staff was friendly and efficient). Our room was clean -- and comfortable (but, the bathroom is small). One 'inconvenience' we encountered is that they do have limited in-room television channels, so we had to go to the lounge to watch the baseball game (but we survived that). I'd return to this facility, if I was back in the area.

I spent 4 nights in the hotel for business and was pleased with the property. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and contemporary. I ate at Shula's in the lobby for dinner and found the club sandwich to be adequate and the cole slaw delicious. They seem to be understaffed in the bar and while helpful and pleasant you don't see to much of the bar staff during your visit if it gets even a little bit busy. Overall, I rate this a very good property.
