Stayed at the Garfield Suites this month in May 2016 and was very satisfied! Although it is an "older" hotel, it was very clean, spacious and comfortable. 2 good sized bed rooms, a balcony either in the living room or a bed room, kitchen with a nice sized kitchen table, ample bathroom. I thought the bed was as comfortable as any I have stayed in. Very comfortable and would be great for a family. Each room had a television. Great location and good bargain.

I stayed here for 4 nights and I think the only good things about here is the friendly staff. The hotel location is very bad and I couldn't even walk 3 blocks away for dinner! The hotel is old and dated and I heard that they are going to renovate it. The kitchen appliance was good (toaster, coffee maker and fridge) and it room cleanness could be better! One of the AC didn't work! The free WiFi was awful, I stayed here for work and I even couldn't open my email! Personally I don't think that I wi... Read more

Garfield Suites had a lot of construction going on while we stayed here, so the Café was closed, the elevator was torn apart, and we could hear loud banging throughout the day. However, I imagine when the construction is done this will be a nice place to stay. The rooms are large and it was clean. Good location, easy to walk to downtown attractions. The appliances were outdated but that was OK for me.

I try to stay here when I go home to Cincinnati unless they are booked. A 2 bedroom suite with 1.5 baths for a little over for $300 for a weekend is not bad.Located in the heart of downtown, working wifi, comfortable beds. Yes the rooms are dated but they are clean, and Darrin always has excellent customer service. You do have to pay to park in the garage and each time you leave you have to pay to get back in, my only complaint. But sadly for me, they are converting back over to apartments soon, ... Read more

Very outdated hotel across from the main library. You don't want to walk to/from the hotel at night. Parking garage access is the worst ever. Have to follow a trail through doors and stairways to get to the hotel. It isn't directly connected. Books in room have menus and says they have room service but the restaurant is closed. If we had known what the conditions were we would not have stayed here. Will not stay here again.

Arrived at 2am off of the Amtrak from New York and was met with a rude, chippy night receptionist who couldn't find our booking, or that of another couple who were also trying to book in. He advised that they don't normally except such late bookings (despite advertising a 5am limit), and he would just give us a room. Fine I thought, but he started to quote me room rates even though I'd paid in February! As it was 2am and we just wanted to get to bed we agreed to just sort it out in the morning. ... Read more

Sandy sheets, poor temperature control, yellow pillow cases, grimy bathroom, sketchy parking garage, noisy outdoor traffic, terrible mattress, crappy wifi, snippy staff, noisy neighbors... If I wasn't afraid to walk to my car, I'd sleep in it. I am supposed to stay here two nights for work, but I will be leaving in a couple of hours (It's 1am, and I cannot sleep - which NEVER happens) to hide out in a diner and never return!! I do not feel clean, comfortable, or secure here. They don't deserve t... Read more

Stayed here this past weekend. I was a little nervous after seeing some recent reviews. It wasn't bad at all. Yes it's a little outdated and could use some update but it was a place to sleep. We went to a Reds game so it was close to walk to the game, we did get an uber on the way back just because it was late and we didn't feel safe walking back just the two of us. The staff was friendly at all times. One of our tvs didn't work but it wasn't a big deal because we weren't in our room that ... Read more

Was very nervous about staying after reading the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. The location is great...... walking distance to the ballpark, Fountain square, downtown shopping and restaurants. The rooms are dated, but clean. We had a 2 bedroom suite with a balcony and kitchen. Very friendly and helpful staff. Sorry to hear that this will be the last summer they are open as they are going to become an apartment building. Plan to stay one more time before they close. Rooms are a little outdated. Apartment style rooms. Decent size rooms. Great location and walking distance to lot of entertainment in the heart of downtown. I would stay here again. Ask for a room on a higher floor

This hotel needs major renovations and money to staff housekeeping. We were there for 5 days for a convention. Typically, we do not get housekeeping services while traveling as we take care of our own trash and get new towels ourselves. This time, however, our room was filthy when we checked in. The tile was sticky, it smelled weird, there were stains on the furniture and worst of all there was food trash in various corners and some kind of mold in the medicine chest. We stopped by the front des... Read more

Please do not stay here. It looks like a place that prostitutes use to service their clients. Everything is old, it smells, poor customer service, roaches, restaurant stays closed, dirty carper throughout...just horrible!!!! Please trust me...don't do it. No refunds they tell you and they are very entitled about it. Dirty, dirty, dirty! I would give a zero rating but you must give at least a one.

I recently booked and stayed at this hotel for a concert we attended at riverbend, I've never stayed in downtown and was looking forward to the experience. We arrived and we're greeted by a very friendly attendant who said you know our hotel is under construction right? No I wasn't told on the booking .. The room we were given was very large but it was not modern.. More like a 80's nightmare efficiency apartment!! Totally weird.. There were only two trash receptacles in the place had to pay for ... apart from the very dated rooms, and the inability to get a receipt when I checked out, this hotel was in a great location. Walking distance to everything downtown, it was convenient, had attached public parking garage, and within 2 blocks of great dining.

My overall impression of our room was I felt like I had gone back in time. Very outdated, but it was clean. It had plastic bags over the smoke alarms, which scared me. There was one glass, a couple cups, no working stove, no glass tray in microwave. I was told in my reservation confirmation I would have great views overlooking the city, I had a view of the parking garage. It was in walking distance to Paul Brown stadium, but that was basically the only positive. Wouldn't stay here again.

Everything about this hotel is disgusting. Loose, filthy carpet. Peeling wallpaper. Everything is worn and filthy. The lobby was remodeled perhaps in the 90's, but the rooms are from the 80's. I didn't feel safe on the street corner outside the hotel. The whole thing feels like it's been going out of business for 10 years.

I just don't understand how this hotel scored as high as it did. The location is convenient, but that's all it has going for it. The decor is ancient and the carpet is in such poor condition it has bunched up ridges as it is lifting. Not only does that look awful, it is easy to trip on and hard to drag your rolling luggage across. The restaurant was not in service, only one elevator was working and was very slow and there is almost no lobby to speak of. The rooms themselves had wallpaper t... Read more

This hotel is severely outdated. The basic amenities are available and the rooms are large. We stayed in a one bedroom suite. The bathroom is large as well, also outdated. Our AC unit ran constantly, but the room never seemed air conditioned and the digital unit on the wall did not work. Overall a decent stay for the price, but the hotel is in dire need of updates.

Our family stayed here 2 nights over Labor Day. No pool. No breakfast offered. Close to downtown but dicey area. Double shooting occurred directly around the corner after fireworks by the river. Unfortunately, lots of homeless in the area. Close to ball field. Room was adequate but thats all. Needed updating. Beds were clean and comfortable. $130 a night.

This is literally the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. You are better off sleeping in a outhouse. It probably would smell better. I never write reviews about hotels but I had such a horrible uncomfortable scary experience here I felt it was warranted to warn others. Do not stay here. The rooms have gross carpet and very old appliances that do not work. There is graffiti in the elevator. There are about 30 homeless people all outside this hotel. I did not feel safe at all walking outs... Read more

Absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Usually I do my reviews immediately, but I blixed this one because I just wanted to forget about it. We had to haul luggage from around the corner, thru some building, up stairs, thru another building then elevators to just get to the lobby from the parking garage. The rooms were nowhere near clean. Everything was very old, the stove, fridge, furniture. the tvs were from the 80's or 90's and I am not exaggerating. Th halls were dirty with buck... Read more

Plain and simple, this hotel is old and is in desperate need of updating. It has been let go. We paid about $120 for a Friday night while in town to see the Reds play. The location is good, as long as you're okay with downtown Cincinnati. Walking distance to many attractions. The room we stayed in was on the 8th floor and had a small balcony. The square footage is impressive, as this type/size of room could qualify as a 1 bedroom apartment. Living room, bedroom, balcony, bathroom, and a f... Read more
