Came here for a group meeting this weekend. Unbelievable bad breakfast buffet. No eggs, no bacon etc. Cold muffins, some fruit, hash browns, biscuits and gravy (?) and watery oat meal. Really? Wait staff extremely overworked by number of guests. One cup of coffee if you are lucky. My wife came down for breakfast about 20 mins before it ended and there was none of the above. some folks never even got coffee. I went down the street for a decent cup. Rooms are showing their age. ... Read more

This hotel is very historic and important to Canton's history. Canton Ohio is a small town and the former (as in original) governor's mansion, and hotel's namesake is located across the street from this hotel (so the location is somewhat historic as well) . I would classify it as a boutique hotel because it's furniture old/rustic/traditional and some is even original -but its decor and furniture adds charm is because of that originality. It's a nice hotel, but the furniture condition in my room ... Read more

Probably the best way to sum up this stay is by quoting my teen grandson. "When you walk in the front lobby, it looks like a five star hotel. But the rooms? Not so much." I rated this hotel a four -- I could have made a case for a three, but I added marks for the reasonable price and the great staff. The lobby area is well done and has a number of historical displays including a replica of one of First Lady McKinley's inaugural gowns. The rooms are definitely well past due for an updat... The hotel has an average accommodation. Room is a bit outdated but it is well kept and clean. Fresh and good smelling sheets. The wifi connection is good. The free breakfast buffet does not offer many choices but was decent. The front desk personnel were very pleasant and accommodating.

I booked this hotel for one night so I could visit the NFL Hall of Fame, but The room & hotel was so nice I stayed for an extra night. It's in downtown Canton, but the police station is a block away, so there were no problems. The Hall of Fame is about 2 miles away, President McKinley's house is across the street, & is now the National First Ladies museum. Canton Brewing Company is just a short walk away.

Safe, clean, comfortable, all in downtown Canton. Parking garage across street is $8.00 per day. There's an elevated enclosed walkway from garage to hotel. Indoor pool has ample sun light, gym also is bright and clean.

After reading the reviews I was thinking wow I hope we made the right choice and I will say we did! The town of Canton is old, historical President McKinley is all over the town because he lived here. The hotel is very old fashion which we liked, our room was clean, bed comfortable and quit. The indoor pool was really nice we went in the spa, I did notice rust on the bottom of the pool which I though was not good hence the 4 stars. The workout room was clean and people were using it! This hotel was recommended by the wedding party for a convenient hotel to Varian orchards wedding venue(beautiful orchard).Drive the extra 5 minutes to Everhard Rd where there r many options in hotels. This hotel is older and in downtown canton. The only parking is a garage($), or on the street. I purchased this room for my 2 daughters (ages 22/19), that were in the bridal party because that is where everyone in the wedding was staying. Upon returning to their room after the after party, my ... Read more

Stayed two nights for business in this centrally located Canton hotel. Guest rooms are modest with modernized bathrooms. Furniture showing age and use, but still functional with flat screen TV and channel guide. Nice breakfast buffet included in room fee and local paper available. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful with local information. Extensive parking garage attached though covered elevated walkway and vouchers provided.

Booked last minute for a funeral. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Parking is a little odd, parking deck across the street, with a in closed walk way. Hotel is very clean and well kept. It does feel dated though. All in all a good experience.

After riding hours in the rain on a motorcycle I was disappointed to find the least compassionate reception I have experienced ever. Usually we receive understanding for the desire to assure security for the motorcycle. We were neat and riding BMW touring bikes. One of the three desk clerks was no less than rude and inattentive. Further disappointed that we were unable to get a cup of coffee prior to turning in our breakfast ticket for breakfast. On the positive side the room was clean and com... Read more

We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The room furniture is a little older but the bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean and spacious. We stayed on a very hot day and the air was already on for us and worked great. The parking garage was free just across the street but would not recommend the walkway on a hot day as it is all glass and extremely hot. Was very easy to just walk across the street. The breakfast included was ok but a little light on selections. The coffe... Read more

We stayed at the McKinley Grand and loved it. It is clean and safe (and fun). Yes, it has seen better days and it may not be the Ritz - but it is a great place to stay on a visit to Canton. We found our room to be clean and we enjoyed the breakfast the next morning at the hotel. I will say one odd thing was we were a party of three and they only ofdered two passes for breakfast - for hotel that was not full they might want to rethink that policy. We loved that the parking garage is connecte... Read more

I really enjoyed this hotel. It was very clean and the staff were very nice. We didn't use the pool but it looked really nice. We did park in the connected parking garage that cost $8, but we could have parked on the street for free on the weekends. The free breakfast was very good. I'm already planning on staying here again.

We were visiting family in the area and last minute I did an express deal with Priceline so for $57 this was totally worth it . Parking was easy on the street just had to be outside by 8 am to put money in the meter. Staff was nice breakfast was ok just basic cold stuff not worth it if you have to pay for it . Used the fitness center but needs to have towels there to wipe yourself off . Also some spray with paper towels to wipe down the machine would be nice . Rooms were clean , bathrooms too on... We went thru Hotwire for our booking so the price was less than regular, at least from tripadvisor or booking prices. Check in was smooth and the staff greeted us with a smile. Our room was on the 2nd floor around the corner from the pool. The "spa" area was closed and had a strong massage type oil odor, which may be bothersome to some guests with sensitive airways. Our room was comfortable, the decor as many have mentioned is very dated with areas that have peeling wallpaper and the mattresses... Read more

Hotel showed a good bit of deferred maintenance. Restaurant not open for dinner; however they were serving in the bar. Menu was limited and overpriced. Included breakfast was below average. Location is excellent: across the street from First Ladies' Museum and short drives to McKinley Library and Football Hall of Fame

Reserved my room 3 weeks in advance for a concert I would be attending with 4 other women. We all flew in or drove from various places in the US. I called 3 times the week before check in to confirm that I'd need 2 roll away cots for our room as there were 4 of us and 2 double beds wouldn't work. I also confirmed our flight information so the shuttle could pick us up at the airport. The shuttle was 20 minutes late and I had to call the hotel to find out where it was. There was no cots in th... Read more

During my business trip this full service hotel offered clean comfortable rooms with great service. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. Rooms could use some updating but for the price it fulfilled my needs. I enjoyed dinner in the lounge with TVs and Karen's excellent service. Check in and out was very prompt and courteous. I will return when I am in Canton.

We stayed here for a wedding. The staff is very helpful and pleasant, but the hotel is very run-down. The wallpaper in our room was pealing off the wall and the place was pretty banged up. Others made similar comments. Add to that, the place was probably great in the 70's, but the section of town it's in is now pretty depressed. At least the Police Station is on the next block. We'd not stay here again.

Just a quick getaway - received a really great rate through a local radio station and opted to just come for some solo R&R. My room was a two double-bed room and was clean. Bed was comfortable. For downtown Canton Ohio this hotel is perfectly fine. The parking garage is across the street with a covered bridge/walkway on the 2nd floor to take you to the hotel. The lobby of the hotel gave a nice first impression and the staff at the front desk remarkably professional, kind and helpful. I asked if ... Read more

I got this hotel on a prepaid website for a great deal, so it is really hard for me to complain too much, but to say this place is out dated is an understatement. They have memorabilia from President McKinley and his wife. It sufficed for us as we arrived late at night (midnight) and left early in the morning to go see the football hall of fame. On the plus side, they did have free breakfast, but it was only mediocre. Most Holiday Inn Expresses breakfasts, blow this out of the water. Would... Read more

My room was nice and rather large and included a comfortable King bed and flat screen TV. The carpet was pretty outdated and the bathroom was a little small and outdated by far. The staff is fairly friendly but not very "enabled". When I needed a late checkout on my last day, the manager was needed and then finally able to get me taken care of. The bar/restaurant was great and the food was delicious!

Comfortable bed with many pillows, flat screen TV with WiFi, bathroom and shower dated and moldering, old style coffee server, ice machine on floor 7 and beverage dispenser out of order but you get what you pay for. If you like nostalgia and yearn for the good old days this is your place. Free breakfast provided bread, but toaster didn't work, muffins, fruit cup, biscuits and grits and runny oatmeal in a huge urn with choice of many toppings. When I inquired why they didn't have waffle makers I ... Read more

Recently my wife and I stayed at the McKinley Grand in downtown Canton. Similar to the downtown area itself, the McKinley is not quite as grand as it was in it's heyday. Still, the hotel has nice common areas, and the bedrooms were adequate. You also receive a complimentary breakfast each morning of your stay. Overall, it was fine, and for our purposes on this trip, very convienient. Thus, if your looking for a place to rest your head, and downtown Canton is your destination, the McKinley will d... an historic hotel in downtown canton. its fine to rest your head but the rooms (and the hotel itself) are in need of an upgrade. very dated look. not enough servers in the dining room and the food was not stocked (we were told there was only one chef on duty). i ordered off of the menu and after a long wait the food was ok...nothing special. dinner was much better. the pool was dirty and the hottub needed maintenance. an ok place to rest your head but lacks amenities.

By far, the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The bar closed up at 8pm. The front desk clerk was very unfriendly. The HVAC until was practically hanging off the wall in the room. Furniture was in the condition you would find in thrift stores. The public area's looked they had not been vacuumed in months.

After reading so many reviews I must say I was pleasantly surprised our room was nice and clean . Tastefully decorated for an historic hotel. The rooms do not have mini fridge and microwave, yet they did have a cooler in the room at our arrival. The only issue we had was when I called to cancel the first night of our stay due to work obligations, I was told it was not a problem yet I was charged for that day at check out, this was quickly cleared up. My family recently visited Canton to attend a youth football competition. We chose to stay at the McKinley Grand Hotel in downtown Canton. First the good news...the staff in every area were helpful, friendly and efficient. The bad news is very simple....the McKinley Grand is an old tired property that needs a major upgrade. I could make a long list, but everything is old....carpet, furniture, phones, etc. The "free breakfast buffet" was so bad, we chose to go out to eat. Just saying, if you boo... Read more
