We were at the Hawthorne Inn in a large family group (four rooms booked) due to a family member having surgery at Wake. The hotel looks a little plain outside but the inside is nice and mostly up to date, very surprised at how nice it was when I walked in. The short version is that this is a very clean and safe place to stay, 5 minutes from the hospital and is easy to locate. Beds are mostly comfy, good pillows, fresh white linens and the carpets are clean, bathroom clean, working a/c, mini frid... Read more

My 7 month old daughter was having a major surgery at Baptist hospital a few miles away so we decided to spend the week at the Hawthorne since we live 50 mins away from the hospital. The rooms were nice and they demonstrated true hospitality as soon as we walked through the door. We felt so welcomed! We also received a discount since we had a family member in the hospital. The food in the restaurant was good too, especially the free breakfast. Thanks so much Hawthorne for taking such great care ... Read more

Nice hotel close to old Salem and downtown. Rooms are clean and nice. No noise from other guests. Barrooms clean and roomy. Free breakfast was best I have had. Only issue with the whole stay is they charge your card at check in for room. That's ok. Then they charge your card for incidentals. Put my room in my debit card. I expected the $300 and change taken off for room, but they also held another$300 and change for incidentals. That's quite a bit of money not available when you are planning a v... Read more

The staff is extremely helpful and very friendly. The rooms are clean and neat. The air conditioner is loud but can be turned off at night if need be. The breakfast is very nice. It is not your usual cold cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and fruit. It was a nice hot full buffet with many choices and it tasted very good. I was impressed. Keep up the good work all of you. Team work is the best.

Very clean, comfortable nice hotel. We walked dowtown for dinner. It is very close to shopping and many good restaurants. The clerk was very friendly and professional when we checked in. They serve a complimentary morning buffet which gets the day off right.

I stayed at this hotel for a tourism conference, the hotel itself was well kept and the staff there made it even better. Everyone from the front desk to the housekeepers each morning made my stay very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a nice, clean and relaxing stay when in the area.

There is not enough I can say about this hotel and its staff. If I could I would live there permanently. No place is perfect and certainly there are exceptions but on the whole nearly everyone I encountered there during two different visits was kind, helpful, pleasant, accommodating and supportive. It is exceptional value for money. In addition I had met someone during my time in Winston who was from France. He was under treatment at the Baptist Hospital and alternatively was a guest at the Ha... Read more

I have stayed here many times when my husband was a patient at Wake Forest Baptist. It feels safe and secure, the beds are super comfortable, and it is nicely refurbished. I still haven't used the pool, but would like to. I highly recommend this place as a great place to stay in Winston-Salem!

We stayed here two nights recently. The room had a fridge and microwave, and a nice tv. The hotel is fairly old and can use some updating. The ac made a lot of noise including a strange gurgling sound in the vent system as if there was a babbling brook in the room. The hotel has a restaurant and small bar where one gets a nice breakfast buffet. There was nothing within walking distance although downtown is just minutes away.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and we had a wonderful view. The breakfast buffet is complimentary and one of the best. The restaurant serves a crab dip during dinner that is out of this world. This will be my hotel of choice when I stay in this area!

Spent two nights here and it was pleasant. Attended a festival and the accommodations were excellent. Only thing that is difficult is that there are stairs between the registration desk and the rooms unless you exit the hotel and drive to the rear. Rooms are nice, large and clean. Free parking. Restaurant on site.

The Hawthorne Inn and Conference Center is an awesome place to stay. The staff is very friendly and will do their best to make your stay a pleasant one. Breakfast is included. Also the other two meals are served in the restaurant. The prices are very reasonable. The rooms are immaculately clean! And the beds are comfortable. Very quiet. Also, it is affiliated with the Wake Forest Medical Center which is near by. We will stay there again for sure! Handicap accessible.

This is a property that serves the hospital. We stayed there for a downtown business conference when the other hotels were full. The staff was nice enough. The hallways and rooms had a faint nursing home smell if you know what I mean. The breakfast was poor. Fortunately, it is very reasonable priced, and if you aren't going to spend much time there anyway and aren't the "fussy" type, you can deal with it.

Every time we have hospital appointments at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, we stay at the Hawthorne Inn. The staff is very supportive and the hot breakfast in the mornings before the appointments is nice, so we don't have to think about what to get for breakfast before we start the day. All the rooms we've stayed over 2 years are very clean and comfortable.

The only thing I can really say that annoyed me is the hotel was out of coffee they put in the rooms. Apparently they ran out of K-Cups and they were on order. We were able to get coffee in the lounge where they serve breakfast. The coffee was not that big of a deal except on check out morning we left before breakfast started - would of been nice to have coffee. Breakfast is complimentary, we were please with the variety. Eggs, sausage, bacon, dry cereals, fruit, oatmeal, french toasts, potato... Read more

Found this hotel through trivago and then Expedia. It was a bargain. Stayed two nights. The location was great. Convenient to everywhere. Right off the highway. They are affiliated with the Baptist hospital. Staff was very friendly and diligent. Decided to eat dinner at the hotel the first night because of convenience. Not disappointed. Room was very clean; nicely done. Shame they changed the windows and did away with the balconies.

I recently stayed at Hawthorne Inn and Conference Center for 3 nights while a family member had a procedure at Baptist Hospital. The Inn is part of the Wake system, so complimentary shuttles run to and from the hospital hourly. We had 2 rooms which were both large with a table and chairs, small refrigerator and microwave. My sister and I would get up and go to the gym to work out before heading to the terrific complimentary breakfast buffet. In addition to the usual eggs, breakfast meats, pa... Read more

Probably one of the most comfortable rooms I have ever stayed. Our room was clean and the mattresses on the beds (and pillows) were of high quality. The breakfast was delicious and the restaurant had excellent service. Thank you for your attention to detail; the accommodations were wonderful. We will recommend and stay here again in the near future.

This hotel appears very basic but the property, amenities, and staff are wonderful. There is a terrific breakfast every day as well as coffee in room. The pool is refreshing, and there is ample room to relax there. The rooms are clean and we'll maintained. All for a modest price. As an added bonus the hotel is merely minutes away from downtown.

We spent 3 days here moving a family member. It is only .5 miles to downtown. You can drive under or over the freeway to get there. The room was spacious with 2 queen beds, table, chairs and a side chair. The hot breakfast included eggs, sausage, biscuits/gravy, and the normal continental foods. We also ate a very good dinner here and the portions were large for about $10 each. The Bayberry Bistro is rated 73rd out of 555 restaurants. The swimming pool is very large and has lots of tables/chair... Read more

In between gigs on the road, I got to stay at the Hawthorne Inn & Conf. Ctr. From the minute I walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly & helpful. My room was huge and had a great view of the city. My bed was very comfortable and bathroom was spotless. My room had a kitchen, which made me go out, buy groceries and prepare my first night's meal. I took a dip in the pool, which was very clean and my free breakfast the next morning was one of the best Free Hotel Breakfasts I had ever had. ... Read more

This is our second visit to this hotel. The first time was lively and vibrant. This time not so much. The staff (Deborah) was wonderful. The rooms were clean and modern. Special requests made when booking were ignored. Can't load luggage in through the front lobby, must use back door which had many steps. On our visit, we assisted an elder who just could not manage luggage and herself up those stairs! Perhaps the hotel is transitioning. Although there is a Keurig in the room, coffee pods are SO...
