Let's face it, you are reading this review because you want to stay downtown in Wilmington. Then, stay here because this is the perfect location: it's on the water; it's walking distance to some great restaurants, coffee shops, and watering holes plus you get to bank some HHonors points. If location doesn't matter or you are traveling to the beach, it's a toss up. The pro's - best location on the river. The bottom line - the hotel is fine - it's a baseline hilton with some great views. The r... Read more

Great location. No refrigerator or microwave in room. $11 a day extra for parking. It's worth the extra money to be on River Walk and a block away from the heart of downtown. Lunch buffet a bargain at $12. Restaurants all around hotel along with interesting shops.

Loyal to the Hilton family of hotels, I can not honestly recommend this location. No hot water upon check-in and no water the last full day there. In 10 days our room was never cleaned before 3:00 and one day after walking all day in 85 degree weather we had to wait until almost 6:00 PM for a shower. No replacement toilet paper and two hand towels? Were they afraid we would steal one? Even ran out of tissues. Valet and morning front desk staff excellent but communication during later hours was n... Read more

The cost you pay is for the building, not the rooms. Rooms should only be about $89/night but you're paying for the building hype. Sorry, but it's not worth it at all. Don't want to deter people from staying, but do want them to know what they're going to get up front. Excellent staff!

This property has been in business for some time. The views are great on the river. The bed quality is good and the rooms are clean. Small and outdated, but clean. This property gets a lot of wedding traffic in the summer. The weekends are normally full. Some staff needs to be retrained to be able to represent a full service Hilton. The parking staff valet for any parking is sorely lacking in skills and politeness with customers. Not on the ball for service. Could not get a bellman to answer the... Read more

Hotel has a great view of the river in Wilmington. The location is great for the river section of Wilmington (currently under repair that could have been disclosed). The hotel has transportation options for local attractions such as the Battleship North Carolina.

Besides a great location, this hotel has a great pool, well-trained staff and better than average restaurant options. However, the furnishings are a bit tired looking. The bed was comfortable enough, and we spent very little time in room so this was not a big deal. The King bed suite was very spacious.

If you want a location convenient to the entertainment of downtown historic Wilmington, this hotel could work for you. But watch out, there's a hefty premium. Rooms are dim and lack amenities expected at the price range (refrigerator, for example). No expedited or mobile check in/check out, gotta head down to the desk and wait in line to check out and receive your bill. Left having the impression that guest satisfaction was much less important than the better service offered to people just going... Read more

The room and bathroom is what I'd call "European size". It is not small, but leaves much to be desired. I was disappointed that it did not have a small mini fridge. The TV is new, and the bed and sheets are comfortable. Not sure if they had a continental breakfast because we are here for a conference. The staff are perfectly friendly and the room pretty clean, but what you are paying for is the location. It is just off the riverwalk and walking distance from downtown.

The hotel location is great for the Wilmington downtown/Riverfront. The rooms felt older and the hotel was starting to show it's age. The staff was great and the food was excellent. I came in town for a wedding weekend and joined my girlfriend who had stayed in the Hilton all week in different rooms. She said every room had a different bed so the rooms are somewhat variable.

I like the Hilton for its quality and service. The rooms are quiet. This is very important to me. But the exemplary service is your strongest asset. Registration process is easy and early check in is most helpful. However the additional cost takes away from this service.

I frequent Wilmington for business and pleasure. The area is wonderful with plenty to do. The service is great but the rooms are a bit stuffy even after the remodeling Every time I have stayed at this hotel there has always been something that did not work right. Although the location is excellent, the hotel itself fell short of our expectations of what a Hilton should provide. We usually stay at Hampton Inns but we choose this hotel for its downtown riverfront location. The room was small and crammed, Bathroom consisted of a small sink 2" deep (really) and a shower stall. No place to put toiletries. Took about 1/2 hours for hot water to finally reach the room. $11.00 to park your car. Elevators slow as heck.

Very nice stay and our room, 803, afforded a great view of the river, USS North Carolina and pool. The bathroom had been remodeled and was nice, except while the sink looked nice, it is very impractical as it is only about two inches in depth, barely enough space to wash one's hands. This is a standard Hilton Hotel. Typical rooms. No mini-fridge but otherwise nicely furnished. Breakfast buffet ($15.95) was nice with many Southern dishes (grits, biscuits and gravy, etc). The front desk staff was quite accommodating when we had to switch rooms by comping our valet parking ($15/day). This was a standard Hilton hotel...nothing fancy. We didn't check out any of the amenities as we were in town only one night. Our view was facing the street, but I'm sure views facing the river are much nicer. The area was very nice and the hotel was a short walk into downtown or along the river. It was very close to the Convention Center, where we attended a wedding, so there was no need to make any driving arrangements.

My first issue was that my room was not ready until 3:50 and I did online check in for 3pm. Then the digital key would not work. The views are fantastic and right on the river walk, so if it's the best location for any Hilton property in Wilmington. I had a 2 room suite and the air conditioning barely cooled the bed area and I set it on 59 starting at 4pm and it never got cool in the bedroom.

I was so disappointed with the Hilton in downtown Wilmington. My room #729 was extremely dusty and the room air smelled very stale, like no one had been in the room for months. I called housekeeping and the cleaners were equally amazed at the level of dust. You could write "dust me" in the think layer of dust that covered everything in the room. The sheets and towels were stained. There were only decorative pillows on the bed, no regular sleeping pillows. The television set did not work at all, ... Read more

No hot water. Was told that the water heater was just updated and to let the water run for 15 minutes to get hot water. That is real environmental conscious, Not! I was not the first to complain as my comment was pushed aside. Have stayed here before and it was great, but maybe they are getting too comfortable being the real only game on the Wilmington waterfront.

Very nice reception and staff. I would say it is a little overpriced for the area, and I was told there were no room upgrades available even though I looked on the site and there were. Nice river view

Our room was a comfortable riverview king room and had a wonderful outlook on the river and west. You could see the Battleship and the absolutely beautiful sunset that day. It was pleasant. This would be a perfect room to watch the fireworks at the great Wilmington Celebration in July. We were supposed to have a bed/breakfast combination but something went wrong with the reservation but the manager of the restaurant was very nice in understanding and taking care of the breakfast. The breakf... Read more

The Hilton Riverside is located on the Cape Fear River in a City that was once he largest city in North Carolina. The hotel offers excellent service, the highest quality of guest rooms, and a restaurant that prepares delicious meals every time.

This was my first visit to Wilmington, so I decided to stay downtown within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. There were a number of hotels in the area, but I opted for the Hilton given its location on the water. As it turned out, my room did not have a water view, but no matter---the fact is that this property is in dire need of updating and renovation and so there was no great desire to spend much time in the room anyway. The hotel is well located, a block from Front Street, t... Read more

This is a past due review. We, my boyfriend and I, received phenomenal service from the time we checked in, to when we wanted to extend our stay, all whilst the Marines and at least 1 wedding was booked, until the time we left. We even got to stay in our same room the second night, even when the place was packed. We even got into the steak house for a drink right before they closed. The bed was immaculate, the tv didn't matter, happy to be out on a Halloween Wilmington night.
