I have been a fan of the Hampton brand for a while for their clean rooms, free wifi, complementary breakfast which is quite nice and reasonable prices. The Raleigh Downtown location though was far and away my favorite Hampton of all. It sits in the heart of a beautiful downtown and on the banks of the river running through it. I stayed at this Hampton Inn twice in the course of a couple of weeks. It is painfully in need of renovation, or perhaps just a wrecking ball. Nearly everything but the bed was worn, shabby, out of date. In one room lampshades were torn and lamp bases dilapidated. Mirror frames in the bath are mangled. The hotel staff was very professional but the hotel has seen better days. It needs a major renovation. The furniture in the lobby stained room is older...popcorn ceiling looks terrible...the person I was traveling with had ants invading her room. They were unable to move her to another room but did refund the room feeand were very apologetic.

While this Hampton Inn is somewhat dated, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean, quiet, and comfortable it was. My elderly mother was in the hospital down the street and this was a perfect place to relax after spending a stressful day in her hospital room. The beds in my room were firm, which I prefer. Not what I expected from a Hilton chain. Luckily I was there for the weekend only. I've stayed at other Hampton Inns and this one by far was the most disappointing. My reservations got mixed up, I was charged for one of the rooms that I specifically stated was for another quest who would be responsible for the charges. The breakfast is lovely and the room is clean, but it was near impossible to reach the front desk by phone. We called to request wake up and later to report repeated slamming doors on our hallway between 4-6am and we never reached anyone. We usually stay in this Hampton when our usual hotel - North Raleigh Hilton - is booked. Always have a great experience with them. Beds can be uncomfortable at times depending on which room you are in but it's the experience of different hotels so I don't complain too often about that.

I stay and Hampton Inn and Hilton properties 60-80 days out of the year and must say must or all the locations in the Raleigh area are filthy and run down. The room for this stay has some kind of hole in one of the walls, the floors are sticky and have debris left behind. Great service but the hotel is very old and has an odor as if it has been wet at some point. Needs to be updated and cleaned. The staff was great as we arrived very late and left early. The water was brown when first turned on.

The rooms are very clean. This hotel is less than 10 minutes from downtown, it is close to a lot of stores and restaurants. I would stay here again it is much less expensive than staying downtown but it very close. I would stay here again

The air conditioning was so loud every time it clicked on that it kept me up all night! It didn't work very well either as it was never really a comfortable temperature. The hotel itself, especially the rooms, seemed rather dingy - needs updating.

As I travel, I am almost never disappointed by Hampton Inn. In this case we were near Duke Cardio for a medical appointment, and proximity was great, breakfast was absoslutely delicious. The staff was very helpful in giving us directions to the restaurant of our choice, as well as for our appointment the next day at the medical center. A top notch location, and hotel.

Not up to the usual Hilton standards. First my key didn't work and I had to haul my bags back downstairs to get the reset. Then the TV would not turn on. They had to come fix that issue. This place definitely needs the carpets cleaned in both the lobby and the rooms. I was disappointed to say the least.

This was our first time visiting Raleigh. This hotel has a convenient location across the street from a Trader Joe's store and several shops and restaurants. The hotel staff was warm, friendly and very welcoming. The beds were very comfortable in our 5th floor room, and the bathroom had a granite countertop. Really poor service for a Hampton Inn. No Hilton Diamond recognition at checkin (guaranteed amenities not delivered), nor was I given any information about wifi or breakfast. The room I was given had been heavily smoked in and covered with air freshener, I had to switch rooms. The room I ended up in had damaged furniture (see pictures).

Easy stop for our big family, on our way coming home from the beach. Clean. Modern. Bright airy lobby and breakfast area. Hotel in a nice wooded area. Breakfast includes: Hot oatmeal, scrambled eggs and egg mix topped-bagels, waffles, cereals, muffins. Friendly staff. Neutragena products a plus. Outdoor pool open 8-8.

Visited for business 3 nights and 4 days and overall the hotel is average or a little below. Kind of a strange smell in my room, dealt with that. Had a room by elevator (mistake), couldn't tell if pool was open (but I'm sure it was), and the bathrooms were old and dated. Overall I would probably choose another hotel but it wasn't the worst.

It was an ok value. A lot of noisy guests in the lobby...they were having a birthday party in the lobby when I arrived. There was hair between the mattress cover and the head of the bed, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months!

When our neighbors prepared for a huge party, we knew that we had to escape for a quiet night. We were familiar with the Hampton Inn and chose that Inn for our escape. Success. We had a wonderful night and were glad that we made the right choice, for the price was right and the beds were comfortable. On Sundays, there is even a church service in the meeting room.

My daughter and I had a mother/daughter overnight stay. The hotel was clean. The pool was clean. The staff were friendly and very nice. We had a great stay. They have coffee, 24/7 which was hot and fresh @ 9:30 p.m. We plan to come again next year.

Room had chemical smell. Furniture was very worn, cracked and sticky. Bed was uncomfortable. Can not believe this hotel is in the Hampton Inn system! No refrigerator in room that was requested on reservation. However one was eventually brought in. We were so disappointed in the conditions of this room that we could only stay one night out of the seven originally reserved! Do Not Recommend This Hotel until it;s upgraded and revamped!

I've always considered a Hampton Inn to be at the top of limited service hotels. This property in no way represents that. It is in serious need of updating, and especially the carpeting and furnishings. We only needed to stay 1 night to take the state board exam the next day. The perfect was location for us, 3 minutes away from industrial drive. The price was great, a very nice hotel, room were very clean, beds comfy and i love that they use white sheets and white comforters. check in was fast and friendly. Breakfast was a nice plus and had a good choice of food. no complaints at all. We enjoyed our stay and the staff was excellent.

The hotel was conveniently located near stores and places to eat, which made the stay better. The service of coffee and tea all day was a great perk. Overall the trip and the stay was wonderful. I would stay again.

This hotel is old and needs updating. Carpets were stained and our tub filled with water while showering. Had to watch toilets every time we flushed for fear of it overflowing. The staff was very nice though.

I booked this hotel via the Hilton site. It did not give an accurate description of its location. Its location is near almost nothing. There is a shopping center with some fast food type places and it is not far from the freeway. No real sit down restaurants in the area. Its location has a business park feel. This is the second time that I've stayed at this location when travelling to Raleigh on leisure trips, and will continue to do so. I have always found the Hilton Honors family and chain to be the best value. If there was anything wrong I'm sure that they'd be quick to correct it.

Came here for a business trip and I can honestly say that this is the worst Hampton and Hilton brand hotel I have ever stayed at. The hotel is outdated, the bathroom had specks of blood in the tub and you could see mold growing around the toilet. YUCK! The beds were okay, but I wondered what could possibly be lingering on the sheets...

The guy at the front desk was very nice and helpful. There are microwaves nor refrigerators in the rooms but there is a microwave available for guest use downstairs in the 'dining' area. Breakfast had multiple selections available and it was great! The bed was comfortable and slept well. I watched HBO the entire night!

Stayed here for 1 night and was not impressed. The front desk staff was friendly, and the room was clean. However, the hotel was built in at least 1988, and the furniture in the room seems to reflect that it hasn't been updated since that date. We stayed here while my family was having to stay overnight in Rex hospital. I was pleasantly surprised. The nice lady at the front desk even moved her car so we could have a parking spot up front. The room was clean but was just outdated. I personally didn't care what it looked like as long as it was clean. Breakfast was ok. We would stay again.

Do not stay here unless there's a major renovation. As in millions of dollars put into a renovation. This hotel is a dump. There were holes in the carpet, phone was stained yellow and looked like it had been there since the 80's, water heater did not work.

First, when entering the hotel you're greeted with a musky scent and heavy air, similar to a mold-ridden basement. The first room we tried had excessive water damage on the ceiling and the second room is pictured below. Courtyard right around the corner was lovely though.

We have stayed in this Hampton Inn about 20 nights over the past 5 years. The hotel has a good location and provides normal Hampton Inn benefits. Since we stayed here last year, this property has deteriorated badly. All the carpets are filthy. The carpet in our room felt sticky. Had to do a last minute decision to evacuate from South Carolina due to Hurricane Matthew and was glad we could get a decent room here with complimentary breakfast. Good points for this property - somewhat off the main road and though only a block away from I-440, it was pretty quiet, even though we were across from the Ice/Vending room, I was pleasantly surprised by that. If *VINTAGE* doesn't bother you, you need a good nights rest, hot shower and access to a nice coffee & instant cocoa bar 24/7 this Hampton Inn provides. I was happy with my stay here because I paid about 1/2 of what I normally pay for a stay at Hampton. I would stay here again to save but if atmosphere is important- you may wish to upgrade to a more expensive Hampton!

Rooms sorely need updating, they definitely need a decorators touch. Breakfast selections could have been improved and better quality items. Not all rooms had the amenities that were described online. Prior to arrival staff assured that we would either have adjoining rooms (requested) or at a minimum the rooms would be in close proximity to each other. We received neither. My son and I stayed at the Hampton Inn in November for a weekend soccer tournament. The staff at the hotel were very nice and accommodative. I think the lobby has been updated, but the rooms are in need of serious updating....not dirty, just really old... While the location of the hotel is good, i am sure you can find a better option, or at least a hotel built within the last 20 years. Good luck.

I felt that I have had excellent experiences in other Hilton hotels. This hotel gave me an average experience which is not a bad thing but I will not go out of my way to stay there again. This hotel needs a major face lift. Not only does it look and feel extremely old, the mattresses and amenities have not been updated either. Worst Hampton/Hilton property I have ever experienced. The only business center available is sitting in the open in the lobby.

This is your average, run of the mill Hampton Inn. Nothing great, nothing awful. The first room they assigned to us had no working air-conditioning, but they promptly reassigned us to another level, and all was fine. Front desk staff is friendly. Parking lot is a little dark to my taste, especially in a city.
