Our first visit to Raleigh. We wanted a hotel in a safe neighborhood. If it was close to attractions and restaurants, that was a plus. Hotel is fine. Parking on site. Breakfast buffet was $10.95 per adult plus an extra $3.25 for a glass of orange juice. Service was friendly and efficient. Brenda brought us fried eggs. The grits and French toast were good. Fruit was fresh. Restaurant is on 20th floor with view of state Capitol and churches. Our room was typical holiday inn with sink and vanit... Read more

They charge $7 per vehicle to park and a $50 incidentals fee (which is refundable), but they don't accept cash at check in. Bring your credit card and prepare to pay an extra $60 than what you planned. Upstairs bar is okay. Nice renovations and nice updates.

Not bad, but nothing special either. I was on the 19th floor facing north - lots of train noise, some noise from the restaurant above, and there must be a fire station nearby, as there were lots of sirens as well. Honestly not too bothersome, but I did hear all that, so beware if you're a light sleeper. Staff were friendly, though it took about 45 minutes for the ride they called for me to show up :-/ Good location, with restaurants, attractions and brewpubs within easy walking distance,

Very efficient and friendly personnel. Check in and check out very fast. Practical location. My room was big and clean. The only problem was that I could hear the trucks and suv's in the main road. All together I still recommend it Enjoy the view from the breakfast room

I haven't stayed at this hotel for many years and was pleasantly surprised last week when I stayed here for two nights for a business meeting. Within walking distance of many restaurants and also museums and business offices. I didn't have to move my car for my entire two day stay. Rooms updated and nice. Nice restaurant and bar on 20th floor, with very accommodating waitstaff. My only complaint is that there is not an ice machine on every floor. Next time, I think I will just ask to stay... Read more

Easy check-in, hotel was booked but I still managed to get a room on the 9th floor. They have a full restaurant on the 20th floor that stays open till 10pm which was great since I checked in late. They also serve breakfast ($15 for the buffet) and there is a fee for parking. The room was large, desk, great view and a nice size bed. The bathroom is SMALL, (see pics) the toilet is literally next to the tub so of tight spaces make you uncomfortable don't het room 913. The hotel does have great wa... Read more

Overall the 3 stars did it justice. Location was great. Breakfast on the 20th floor was okay for the price especially when my son was free. Bathroom was small, but for me it's just about having a clean place to sleep at the end of the day. The bathroom became much smaller when I was eye to eye with a big cockroach at 3 am. Had difficulty getting back to sleep after that. In their defense I didn't have a chance to talk to mgmt about this and didn't give them a chance to rectify since we had ... Read more

Great place to stay if you like to walk. The building is a little odd but the doors are offset from the hallway. So once we were in the room we never heard a peep from outside and it was a busy weekend. Not a super luxury but nice enough since we spent most of our time exploring downtown. We had planned to go out to the piano bar after being out the whole afternoon and evening but the comfortable bed set a trap.

During a conference, I stayed at this location. The round hotel is interesting. It is centrally located and within walking distance of attractions and restaurants. The front desk staff was helpful. The hotel is old but the rooms were nice. The bed was comfortable and the sink area was large. The toilet/shower/tub were very small. There is a restaurant on the top floor.

Traveled to Raleigh for a nights get a way and loved this hotel. The guy at the front desk was very polite and very helpful with my questions. Stayed on the 19th floor and had a wonderful view of Raleigh. The breakfast buffet was also really good. I must say that all of the employees that I encountered were extremely gracious.

This is a retro hotel with updated finishes. I thought the building structure was cool, built in the 60's? The finishes appear to have been recently updated, seemed like new to me. It was a great location for walking to show a Red Hat...maybe 10-15 minute walk? Good food at the Flying Saucer next door. The room was good, somewhat pie shaped as all rooms spur off a central circular hallway. All the finishes and furniture seemed like new to me. Some may find the old school design not to the... I have stay here before, close to Legislative Building and other places. Now the parking is $7.00. The bathroom are very small, but the staff at the front desk are very nice. The bed, TV and the wifi are very good. No mini frige in room. With all the restaurants near by that would be very helpful to put your food in. Pretty view from upstairs bar/restaurant. The trash can bags were not in the trash can also. They were folded across the trash can. I have never seen that in a room before.

Very nice hotel close to everything downtown. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Would I have preferred the bathroom be a little bigger? Um yeah. You literally have to step beside the toilet to shut the door and if you're a bigger person then forget about it. Why even use the floor mat? It doesn't even fit in the bathroom. Kind of silly. My husband and I were more upset by the fact that the restaurant closes for breakfast during the week by 10:30. Yeah because no one ever eats brea... Read more

Room okay bed comfortable but the bathroom is just too small. Had to walk round the toilet to close the door and no window so in the hea5 having a shower was just awful. Top floor restaurant was nice,we didn't eat just had drinks reasonable priced. $7 to park overnight which I think is okay. Good location for Downtown.

It's been yrs since I've stayed at this hotel, was another chain before. Holiday Inn (IHG) has done a great job modernizing this old hotel. Our room was small, but fine. the AC was either HIGH or lame, very cold and bathroom was TINY, but the room was fine. No breakfast offered, but the top floor restaurant was nice. Food was not that great, my flat bread margarita pizza was not cooked all the way through, didn't finish. Service at restaurant more then made up for the mediocre food. GREAT... Read more

My family and I checked in very late at night and front desk clerk acted like it was a bother to see us. We were offered no information on breakfast options (which we later found out was a buffet starting at $10.95/person) and when we asked for a few extra towels hotel security had to bring them to us, and was not very friendly about it. Bottom line ?? a really good place to stay. Not too expensive and still very close to down town. It is the tallest building in the area (20 floors) so it is very easy to find it on the way back. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom is a bit small (WC & a bath) and if you are a big person you may feel uncomfortable, but for me it was perfect. Plenty of parking, yet it cost an additional fee per day. Internet, on the other hand, is free and the signal is strong. My only complaint is that the... Read more

We were filming for PBS and used this as our HQ. The top floor was amazing. The staff was great. Yes the rooms were small but so is downtown Paris. The founder of NAPSTER stayed here and did not complain. Our Pulitzer Prize winner also stayed here. We all went to film at Campbell law and our Billionaire liked the food at Cafe Agora. All good!

We were visiting Raleigh to do some research in the archives and this hotel was in a nice area in downtown. We didn't have reservation and they had a room for us and we were excited to stay here. The building makes the experience wonderful. We were on the tenth floor and our views were wonderful. The rooms were clean and the staff very helpful. Would love to stay here again and visit more of the downtown area.

For the most part, there were inept people working the front desk. I witnessed lots of complaints as I checked in. My room was changed part way through my stay, which I only found out when I got back and saw that my room had been given to someone else. My beverages and some toiletries were thrown away, and my computer was stuffed in my suitcase and placed in the lobby. The hotel was clean and had a good lounge on the top floor.

My daughter and I plan weekend excursions. And we like visiting Raleigh. The HI Raleigh Downtown is the only place we've visited more than once. It's a cool retro-type hotel with a killer view from the top of the tower bar/restaurant. (Worth it for anyone visiting the area, not just hotel guests!) What can I say? It's walking distance from most all interesting sites in the town. And the city of Raleigh is truly worth visiting and spending time in. We truly love this place.. And will return.

I had read that the Holiday Inn had taken over this property from Clarion (I believe) and that it had been renovated, so I was interested in the renovations. I can only say that it is better than it used to be but it was okay. Our hallway had a funny smell as did the room. The room smell disappeared after the AC ran for a while. Very centrally located - you could walk to many of the different districts, Clean and roomy room. Bathroom had an small layout for toilet and tub/shower - but had an roomy separate sink/mirror area. Limited selection on snack purchases and a bit of a walk to a drug or corner store. Bottled water was $1 more downstairs than in the vending machines located on our floor.

I stayed here at this hotel a few years ago when it was another brand. The new hotel is a lot nicer. The room was clean and the bedding comfortable. The staff was friendly. The pie shaped room is a little quirky, but is still nice. I stayed on the 19th floor. The view was nice, but I was below the bar/restaurant, so it a little noisy. This hotel is a short jaunt to NC State and is a economical alternative to the other hotels downtown.

They've really made this hotel lovely.... the lobby and the rooms are first class. And the location is perfect. The staff at the front desk was more than helpful. Only one tiny complaint and that's in the design of the toilet and shower area.... It's a bit of a tight squeeze .... you have to maneuver a bit when you're on the Throne to get the door closed.... There are only a few key things needed at a hotel to keep this business traveller happy. In order of priority: 1. Strong signal and fast speed internet 2. Comfortable bed 3. Quiet rooms 4. Place to work 5. Drinks and refreshments Luckily, the internet at the Holiday Inn Raleigh was OK, but travelling with my wife required use of the 'business center' for early morning and late night work.
