Another Holiday Inn which doesn't realise that travellers need to get on the road as early as possible all 7 days of the week, not just Monday thru Friday. Our room was spacious with a table and two chairs. Sink was in the bathroom and draining it took forever! Safety handle on bathtub was at taps end which I find dangerous - slip and you fall into the taps. The coffee maker had not been cleaned and the room generally did not seem clean and fresh. Breakfast was normal fare and lots of it though ... Read more

Visited here to see a bit of Mayberry USA. Loved the hotel. Rooms are clean and spacious. We had a small problem with the first room, & were immediately upgraded to another (larger) room. No problems there. The breakfast lady, Lynn, is awesome! She keeps the breakfast hot and full! The team members here are all so friendly! Thanks for a great stay!

The rooms are very big and they allow pets. Beds and pillows are comfortable and not warn out like some hotels can be. They offer both a pool and a hot tub a huge plus. As of right now I would stay here again and would recommend it to everyone I know :)

Stayed at this new Holiday Inn Express on our visit to Mt Airy (Mayberry) NC. Perfect location. Quiet, clean, wonderful b-fast and friendly, helpful staff. About 3 miles from downtown "Mayberry". Very nice indoor pool and jacuzzi. Refrigerators, coffee makers and microwave in the spacious rooms. Highly recommended and pet friendly!!

CONS -I went to get a kleenex to blow my nose and all 4 tissues came out of the box, really? -Toilet clogged -Water leaked in the shower and ran to the bathroom door, for all 3 of our showers and we did our best to prevent it -Our keys didn't work when we got to the room, so me and my husband stood in the hall with a cart with our belongings and my daughter had to go back down to get the cards "activated" -We were reminded by the front desk staff person that she had just started her shift-becaus... From the moment we walked in their front door, this place was a complete and utter revelation. Delightful in every regard. - Genuine warmth of welcome and greeting. - Font of knowledge about the area, scenic drives, viewing spots, restaurants & bars etc, and, of course, the whole Mayberry History. - Spotless inside and out. - New (ish) establishment, so everything was very well-presented, neat, clean, newly painted, very few scuff marks. - A block off the main road, so set-back. This Holiday Inn is about 2 miles off the interstate. We booked through Book.com. Check in was fast, friendly and polite. We where upgraded without asking to a king suite. The suite was roomy and clean. The mattress was so soft we both ended up with a stiff back. The complimentary breakfast was so-so, great if you had kids but not so good for an older pallet. All -in-all exactly what you would expect for a Holiday Inn Express.

When we arrived, we were greeted by construction workers painting and sanding walls. The lobby and dining area were under renovation. It was a mess and somewhat of an inconvenience during our one night stay, but understandable. Wished we had known beforehand. Checkin took an excessive amount of time. There were three workers sharing two computers. The workers were friendly and doing their best, but it seemed disorganized. Our room was a typical room. No issues. The indoor pool area was fin... We stayed at the hotel after the first night of our trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's about 15 miles off the Parkway itself (there is little any closer) but easy to find. It's close to a number of restaurants and has easy access to the sights of Mayberry USA. We would definitely stay there again if we happen to be in the area.

The room was large and clean. There is updating going on but it did not hinder us. Everything in the room was working. The bed was comfortable. The people at the desk are aware of what discounts are available and they try to help guests get the best price. This will probably be my normal stop on my frequent trips through the area.

We arrived around 2:45 knowing there was a chance our room would not be ready yet. When I went to the desk I was told it wasn't ready yet, that they were working on my floor now and it'd be another 15, 20, 30 minutes. Yes, that is what she said. I went back at around 3:20 and the room was still not ready. Check in process for others as I waited was very slow and there were problems with reservations. This made me very worried about how my stay here would be. We stayed in the King Executive room ... Read more

Arrived Thursday the 4th of August after our truck broke down on a trip. People at the front desk were very nice. After spending 1 night there for about $66 (employee rate) we left. Next day my wife checked our bank account and we had a charge of $209, so we called the hotel and were told the charges would be reversed. Sunday the 7th we were out with friends and our card was denied (embarrassing to say the least.) After the movie my wife checked our bank account, the hotel had additional charges... Read more

This hotel is Pet Friendly, with a very spacious, well-kept lawn for pet use. Very convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway (about 20-30 minutes to the entrance. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. The front-desk lady asked if our little dog enjoyed her stay. Room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Hot breakfast was delicious.

We switched hotels after our first night and stayed here for 3 nights. Had an executive room on the top floor, meaning a king bed and large living area. No kitchen but a good sized fridge. The staff was wonderful, very friendly, good local knowledge and recommendations, and superb housekeeping. The indoor pool and hot tub were very clean and more importantly usable at the end of December. Breakfast was plentiful in selection and lasted until 10. I'll be returning this year to Mt. Summary: Pros: Clean and up to date Very comfortable and attractive inside Convenient to the Interstate but quiet Friendly can-do staff Great breakfast experience Cons: None that we experienced This was a nice surprise enroute from the Atlantic Coast toward our Kansas City home. My husband and I spent the weekend in Mt. Airy and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Our room and bathroom was clean and the bed very comfortable. Everyone on staff was professional and friendly. We chose this Inn because of the proximity to downtown Mt. Airy. The lobby and breakfast area was under renovation; however this did not detract from our stay.

The hotel appeared to be undergoing renovations, but it looked like my room at least had already been completed. The room was a good size, appeared clean, and had a microwave and refrigerator. One problem with the room though was the curtains would catch the air conditioned air, so I had to pile things against them to get the air conditioning to come into the room instead of just hitting the windows. Once I did that the air conditioning was fine. The room was quiet at night and I slept well.... Read more

My wife & I spent one night towards the end of August and had a nice stay. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Check in was quick and easy. The breakfast was very good. We only had a few minor complaints such as the toilet seat would not stay up so it had to be had up while being used by a male. And it seemed like a poor design because you can't open the shower door without first closing the bathroom door.

From the time my wife and I entered the hotel, the overwhelming experience began! The front desk staff warmly greeted us with that great Southern Charm! The entire hotel was completely refurbished and only a 7 year old establishment. We were also greeted by all staff as we ascended to our spacious, well furnished and extremely welcoming room. Our stay was only 1 night but could have been multiple nights if we were not planning an ocean ft rip to North Myrtle! The breakfast cuisine was aptly ... Read more

I usually regard this chain as a safe reliable choice however this stay here left me a bit dissatisfied. The mattress in my room was old and not as comfortable as I wanted. I stayed at the Super8 chain a few times recently and their beds were new memory foam and much nicer, and the price was quite lower than Holiday Inn. Difficult to be enthusiastic about my experience here considering other options.

Have stayed here numerous times and 99% of the time, the staff if friendly and top notch. Lynn who works the managers reception in the evening & breakfast in the morning is a sweetheart! The rooms will be updated from what I understand, but we find them adequate in the current condition. Pillows could be updated.

This Holiday Inn Express is one of the friendliest places we have ever stayed! We feel safe, welcome, and in a sense, part of the family. Perhaps this makes total sense for a hotel in Mt. Airy, the home of Andy Griffith and in a sense, Mayberry itself. Currently, the hotel is finalizing a remodeling; however, that in no way detracted from the enjoyment of the stay. My only real criticism is in the "institutional decorating" of this branch; this is Mt. Airy - the hometown of one of America's b... Read more

Being in town for Mayberry Days, there are not a lot of options for rooms and some places are sold out well in advance. I thought this would be a good option for a place to sleep but I would not stay here again as I did not get much sleep. I had asked for the top floor but was put on the third floor and all I heard was footsteps above me. I'm not sure how many were in that room or who would walk so much in the room but soundproofing was not done with the remodel. Conversations could also be he... Read more

We stayed here during our trip on the blue ridge parkway. This hotel is very nice, clean, friendly staff etc. But unbeknownst to us it was during Mayberry days which I suppose hiked the prices up. However besides the price you will find no complaints from me on this hotel. Top notch!

My daughter and I stayed here for 1 night during her basketball tournament. The front desk was so friendly. The room was spacious and clean. The place for breakfast was nice and big and had plenty of seats for people to sit and eat. I have been to other hotel chains that were very small and had no seating. This was a good option for Mount Airy, but a little on the expensive side. We wanted to visit 4 "Mayberry" sights, 3 of which we're open on the Monday we were in town after we'd spent the night. The breakfast was just ok (I think the eggs are powdered eggs).

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel on my trip to Mayberry, NC. The outside of the hotel is beautiful and the room was nice. When I entered the bathroom I found a printed notice saying that I was asked to reuse my dirty towels and linens instead of getting fresh clean linens the next day. Upon checking out the bed I found the same notice. I was extremely offended at this notice! I do not reuse dirty towels! I was in town on business. I've been staying at HIE lately so I picked this one in My Airy. Check in was smooth and easy. Room and bed was great.
