"I stayed in the Microtel in Matthews this weekend, and was expecting a nice overnight stay with the kids. When we came up to the hotel, it looked fairly nice, but when you got inside, the look of the hotel was not so nice. The young lady who greeted us was very nice and sweet, and that was the highlight of our stay. The room we were given looked nice on the surface, but it was after my kids went to bed that I really noticed the problems. The bath room had not been cleaned very well. When I closed the door to take a shower, there were long black hairs sticking to the doorframe behind the door. Then, I turn on the shower and the hot water gives high pitched squeals. Lets just say I took a fairly fast shower. Then, after my shower, I went around the beds to over by the window in order to kiss my son goodnight. The rug under my bare feet was crunchy at parts. I knew that this wasn't from my kids, since we hadn't brought any food to the room, and we had only checked in an hour and a half earlier. Then, to make things worse, the next morning, we came down to breakfast, which was a pitiful mockery of what I had expected. Set out for breakfast was a few bagels, muffins and pastries, and apples. The cream cheese was not in individually packaged containers, but one big unsanitary container. To be honest, breakfast was pitiful, compared to what I would normally expect from a hotel. All in all, I was severely disappointed in my stay, especially with the cleanliness of the hotel, and do not plan on returning again."
