My husband and I were here for 6 nights. The positives: great location, very accommodating and friendly staff and all of the amenities were available. Breakfast buffet was pretty good, but the offerings were the same thing every day. We ate dinner there one night and it was good. Now for the negatives: when we arrived, we saw the pardon our dust sign and were surprised since their announcement of the renovation had a completion date of Spring 2016. As we walked to our room, the hallways looked l... Read more

My disabled parents and I came to North Carolina for my daughters graduation. I booked the hotel 8 months in advanced and called one and a half months to finalized the stay making sure we had a handicap accessible room. When we arrived I was told they did not have a handicap room available. I tried to find somewhere else for us but due to all the graduations nothing was available, so I had no other choice but to take what they had. We were given a room at the back of the hotel. This hotel is so bad i hardly know where to start! The first day of my stay the hot water was turned off for the WHOLE day without prior notice. The hotel caught fire and was evacuated, and there were workmen drilling outside my door at 7am. Yes, that was just the FIRST DAY! The second day there was jack hammering outside my door at 7am. The hotel shuttle is not accessible for disabled people, the shuttle drivers were mean and unaccomodating, except for Teddy. Teddy is the only good thing... Read more

We were visiting Durham for my wife's graduation and we'e fine paying a premium, $320 per night with a 3 night minimum, at the hotels request, given the high demand for graduation weekend. I can't even begin describing our negative experience with this hotel. In a nutshell, we had to change rooms 3 times since the bathroom vents had some loud noise and the person checking us in was clueless. Now imagine having to do this after 26 hours of flying and having to walk back and forth trying to expl... Read more

I have been overwhelmed with the incredible service I have received at the Millennium Hotel Durham . John and his awesome front desk staff Melissa and Azu have just been the best. I highly recommend that you take a stay here on your next vacation or next hotel stay. Marvin Mumford

Where do i even start?? Jack hammering outside my door at 7am one morning, drilling another morning. There was a fire and everyone was evacuated. Different stories were told to us about how it started. Even though our clothes stunk of smoke we weren't even given $3 to wash and dry them. The hotel provides a shuttle for guests to anywhere within a 5 minute radius. I was told they accommodated disability scooters, which i need. I waited in the lobby for the shuttle. From the moment I checked in Octavia and Ratechia were attentive and so incredibly welcoming they made sure to greet me each morning and ask me if I needed anything. Making me and my family feel so special. On my second day I was approched and asked if I would like tickets to the ballgame. I could not beleive it,I was given free tickets. I feel lucky to have stayed in this hotel during a recent training/business trip. The hotel at this time is upgrading their rooms (and renovating other areas of the hotel) and I was able to view one of the new rooms which was beautifully laid out as well as comfortable which will become available in October (so don't pass this place up). The room I had was comfortable, nicely furnished, clean, had nice amenities, linens, and furnishings. The air worked great and I could open the window and hear ... Read more

There are plenty of good hotels in Durham in this price range. The hotel is being renovated and is a mess. By current hotel standards the clerk who greeted us was unpleasant. Because of the renovation the place is confusing to get around and we were given terrible directions and had to come back for a better explanation. Traveling with my son so we booked a room with two queen beds. When we got to the room it hadn't even been cleaned. They offered a room with a king and a roll away bed! ... Read more

Hatchett Family Reunion 2016 July 1-4. I would like to say from the very time we started looking at hotels for our event until the day of the event. I have never met a nicer staff. Everyone went above and beyond to make my family's stay and this event as great as possible. The ground we clean, the hotel inside and outside area was spotless. Nothing was out of place. I stayed at the Millennium for 9 days while my husband was at Duke Hospital. The service was great the front desk staff were very kind and helpful. The food was very good. The shuttle bus was a life saver for me and Nate the driver was wonderful. He took me where ever I needed to go and was there when I was ready to be picked up. He's fun to talk to and very nice. I look forward to staying there again when we have to go back in a few weeks.

Our room was so clean and the staff was super nice and helpful. The pool and hot tub area was so clean which surprised me because of past experiences at other places. The drivers taking us to the hospital was very knowledgeable of the area and when traffic was hectic took us another route to get us where we needed to be. Teddy, was by far the best. He had us laughing the entire time.

Totally turned a rough trip and reason for staying around in a great way, EVERY staff member we encountered treated us like we were the most important guest there and sitting back and watching them ( which I do because I work in hospitality for a national company and know good service) they did the same for each and every person! The hotel has been undergoing renovations for some time now, but still they made every effort to provide me with the venue I wanted and needed. Our rooms were newly done, and very attractive with lots of room. I had wanted a parlor suite, which turned out to be still under renovation, so the hotel gave me an alternate venue, and assisted me in every way. I would especially like to thank Ratechia, Teddy, and Ed, and Tracy, for all they did for me. I will be back next year.

Minus the location, nothing about this place is worth the stay at all. If I didn't HAVE to stay here, I would have stayed at a Motel 6 or some other budget hotel. Front desk staff was cold and unhelpful. They had stone-cold scowls on their face that screamed "I hate my job" and "go away". The bar, if you want to call it that, was the only NICE part of the whole place. This looks like it was built in 1982 and not touched since. It was about 1400 degrees in the pool area, and smelled like ... Read more

The staff at the Millennium Durham are what makes this a great hotel. I can't yet give this hotel a 5 Star / Excellent review, they are undergoing major renovations to the guest rooms, ballrooms, lobby, bar, etc area, and I am sure in a few months this place will be a gem. Since my stay in early August, I'm sure they've made progress and the major renovations are probably done. The front desk was outstanding, always with a smile and ready to answer any question or give advice on restaurants and ... Read more

The hotel has been under renovation for quite some time. The room was clean, but very noisy at night because the bathroom fan was set up to be on permenantly. However, the staff there was very friendly. The driver Thomas, the staff at the front desk (Judy, Ratecula, and Tedyy) are very nice and professional. :)

Stayed for two nights while a conference was being held in the hotel. Conference was about 150 people and fit well. Food served at the conference was just okay. Asked for breakfast to my room both days at first time slot which was between 6:30 & 7:00 am. First day arrived on time. Second day arrived at 7:10 am. Quality of breakfast was good. Much better than the lunch and appetizers at the conference. Rooms are being renovated. I had a new room. Carpet smelled new. Nicely decorated. Saf... Read more

I have stayed at the Millennium Hotel several times and have always had great service. On my most recent trip, however, the front desk service was exceptional! Ratechia and Octavia were working when I checked in, and they accommodated several special requests, as well as checked our bags for us. They did this all with a smile and some jokes, making my fiance and I feel extremely welcome! We will definitely be back, and are now even considering having our wedding in their ballroom.

Great location and good price - reason enough to stay. The entire old building is under construction, though, so it's definitely a "buyer beware" situation. The GOOD: Service is really friendly, warm and helpful. There's a local shuttle and for $7 you can go pretty much anywhere in a 5 mile radius. Duke is right up the road, as is the Hospital, so if either is your destination and you don't want to waste your time trying to find parking and where to go, take the shuttle. This is a tired old hotel that is trying but not hard enough. They are currently undergoing renovations in the rooms but the rest of the hotel is old and shabby. The service is also sub-par and disorganized. We booked one of their new rooms but were given the old, mildewy, and dirty rooms our first night because they "forgot we were coming," how does that happen? Home away from Home ! The Millennium Hotel in Durham just a block from Duke Research Hospital has medical rates and transportation for your family while being close to hospital. Octavia is a welcome sight at the front desk and glad to accommodate you in anyway you may need. Her refreshing smile and helpfulness makes your trip so much sweeter. The hotel is undergoing a facelift but that just means nicer things are coming. If your in the area give her a call , you won't regret it.

Octavia Ratechia ElSana was a delight to interact with as well as the staff in their restaurant. The meeting rooms were comfortable and set up perfectly for our use.
