I recently stayed at The Dunhill Hotel on my first trip to Charlotte, NC. I cannot say enough about the beauty, charm, and hospitality of this wonderful hotel. The staff were exceedingly warm and courteous, and were always willing to go the extra mile. The hotel itself is on the historic register and its old world charm is breathtaking. The rooms had restored woodwork and gorgeous crown molding, but were renovated to include ultra modern amenities such as a large flat screen tv, free wi-fi a... Read more

I liked the hotel. The bartender Pete was so nice and superb service. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel and the food was good also. The breakfast however, was not good at all. They had a decent variety but all of it was COLD! Oatmeal cold. Egg sandwich looked like it was left over from the day before. Pretty shocking and expected quality for what the rooms cost. I'm not sure I would stay there again. ??

OK, I admit it from the start that I'm a sucker for historic hotels, but they still have to perform and The Dunhill does just that. Built in 1929, it provides the character you'd expect but also the modern touches to make your stay comfortable. The Dunhill also draws much of its charm from its size. It features only 60 rooms so you don't have a busy lobby. Parking is easy, whether valet or the parking deck immediately behind the property. The Asbury restaurant that adjoins the hotel is a solid p... Read more

Second visit to this well appointed and well situated hotel. Situated within the business district in Charlotte so no need for taxis to reach office buildings. Equally well situated for many restaurants - 20 yards from The Capital Grill. Room was compact but ok. Bathroom clean and shower was lovely, powerful and hot. Breakfast included is ok but nothing to shout about. We decided to miss it the second day and rely on the office caterers instead. Minor gripe is the two short sets of stair... Read more

The Dunhill is a classic old hotel that has been renovated. It has a good restaurant attached & a lively bar scene. The staff is gracious & helpful. A wonderful location. Nevertheless, the absence of a working gym, the creaky elevators, the old bathroom & the street musicians making noise throughout the day make it hard to recommend. So if those sorts of items don't bother you than by all means enjoy the good location and helpful staff.

Visiting family in Charlotte. Great hotel staff. Requested room on high floor, which they gave us [ask for room facing N.Tryon or 6th street for an open view]. Breakfast was great in the 2nd floor dining room. A/C quiet. Bar/lobby is noisy in the evenings. Great location uptown. Parking garage costs but is worth it. We got room with sofa as only desk and hard chairs for seating its seems. Ate at restaurant before and it was great.

I have stayed in many hotels in downtown but The Dunhill is my absolute favorite. My boyfriend and I stayed for his birthday and had an amazing time. The staff is absolutely wonderful, and the room was so comfortable and quaint. Pete is amazing, awesome drinks! At almost 3am my boyfriend went downstairs to find a snack and Pete asked him what he needed and personally made us (delicious) popcorn. So many nice touches you don't get at other hotels. Can't wait to go back!!!!

The Dunhill had a B&B vibe. It was a nice change from staying in the large chain hotels. Everything was very well maintained. The room was in excellent condition as was the bathroom. The bed, tub, sink, toilet all looked relatively new. There were plenty choices for breakfast. The staff were all helpful and polite. All in all a wonderful stay.

We transferred to this hotel after another local hotel had power issues. They were very accommodating and the staff were fantastic including the lady who was in charge of servicing our floor who introduced herself when we stepped off the elevator and gave us our bedtime chocolates early.

Went here with about 20 guys for a few days of meetings. The hotel is a boutique type of hotel, pretty vintage looking. If you like the antique setting, older type of rooms and furniture you will really like it. Has a character to it, and a reputation of being haunted. The service was good. Everyone with polite and southern hospitality. Meeting rooms was ok. Nothing high tech, but I guess you would not expect it here.

We were set to stay at the Duke Mansion when a power outage took out that park of town. The hotel kindly arranged for us to stay at the Dunhill instead. We were in transit and had no time to do any research so we just went with the arrangement. So glad we did! What a pretty and charming historic hotel! Yet, the rooms and bathrooms are nicely updated and fresh. Comfortable beds, soft linens, fluffy robes, quiet air conditioning. Our only complaint was that the shower had very little water ... The location is perfect since you're walking distance is a ton of restaurants and bars. Parking is available in the back of the hotel but at $18 a night, which I find ridiculous but it is what it is. The hotel itself is well maintained and the staff is pretty friendly. There was complimentary breakfast with our booking and the food was incredible. The dining area on the second floor is beautiful and the service fits for the star rating. We'll definitely stay again

The hotel was clean, with an excellent breakfast included every day. Although this is a hotel it is more like a large bed and breakfast. I was there for business and the only negative I experienced was the elevators were slow. They were even slower when one of the elevators was out of order.

The good are the people who work there are friendly and the lobby is okay. The hotel is extremely overpriced for the very small dingy rooms. I know it's a historical hotel but it is no excuse for the boring beige depressing rooms. The bathroom was ridiculously small. The continental breakfast included with the room was a joke - no fresh fruit, Grocery store bagels and English muffins served in another sad looking room.

There's things to like here: location (you can easily walk to any downtown venue) and as it's an older historic building there's an engaging ambience; and the staff is certainly friendly! But having stayed in many of Charlotte's downtown hotels I'd suggest that the Dunhill is "between and betwixt." Not as totally classy as other luxury options (our room could have used an upgrade: water stains on wall, old mattress?) and at the price more costly than some of the other upscale "chain hotels" near... Met friends here for a quick weekend trip since we all live in different parts of the U.S. We chose the Dunhill and were very impressed. Staff was great and accomodating to our needs. Plenty of nice restaurants and bars in the area. We will definitely be back!

If you like extra service, then this is the place for you to stay in downtown Charlotte. Lots of historical value and beautifully appointed accommodations in keeping with the time period of the roaring twenties, so if you're looking for a "modern" hotel, this really isn't. Comfortable rooms though, and updated bathrooms. The valet had my car ready for me quickly, complete with an icy bottle of water in the cup-holder. There is an emphasis on customer service at this hotel which appeals to me!

Very clean and comfortable. Lovely free breakfast and a nice turn down service. Offers most of the amenities you would look for traveling on business. Limited room service menu from restaurant but was very good. Tomato soup and grilled cheese was excellent. Will be my pick for my Charlotte visits

Location was perfect. Amenities were superb. The staff were all pleasant and kind. Speedy registration. The room was elegant and the bed ever so comfortable! The only thing I would change is ask for a room that wasn't at the front of the hotel - very noisy with nighttime traffic and again early in the morning when everyone is going to work. The complimentary breakfast bar was well serviced and stocked with any breakfast item one would want. Dinnerware and cutlery right down to white table... Read more

There was an odor issue with the room that we received. The staff handled the problem promptly and placed us in a different room. The room was very nice. The location of the hotel cannot be beat. Lobby bar has great service.

This hotel was very nice. The lobby was clean and inviting as was my room. The beds were very comfortable and noise was fairly minimal. The location is convenient and in a nice part of town. The downside was when I left my eyeglasses in the room by mistake. I would have expected the hotel to call me once those were turned in to let me know, given how critical eyeglasses are! They did not. Disappointing but not that big a deal. When I realized and called, the representative said they get t... Read more
