My stay at Econolodge was very unpleasant. If I hadn't been so tired from a long day of traveling I would have moved on to a different hotel. The room was filthy and the fixtures were falling apart. The walls were dirty (literally dusty) and had holes all over them. The bathroom was gross. The floor looked like it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in ages. There was gunk built up in the corners. The kleenex dispenser was covered in rust and only had one tissue in it, and the tp roll was almost empt... Read more

Reserved room using Discover Card, told card would not be charged until arrival, called a week ahead of arrival to confirm reservation and was told reservation had already been charged onto my Discover card, that I would not be able to pay cash for room now at arrival as I had hoped, that I needed to bring discover card with me. Arrived at hotel check in was told again my room was prepaid and was asked to see my Discover card and drivers licenses, which I did. They then proceeded to photo copy m... Read more

We had to deal with a very interesting situation: We booked through Hotels.com about two weeks before our trip. On the day of our arrival we called Econo Lodge to tell them we'd be running a little late. They said they had just canceled our reservation because our 'info had been declined'. What? That doesn't make sense as we had booked through Hotels.com. After an hour on the phone with Hotels.com we figured it out. I cannot make this up: Hotels.com's credit card got declined! Instead of Eco... Read more

I arrived at 2:25 and asked what time check in was. The guy at the desk said 3pm. Any chance of an early check in? Yes---it will cost you $5. Really? No thank you, I will come back after check in time. I had room 126 and do NOT expect much. There was a huge plaster patch that was nearly 1/3 of the ceiling. The bathroom was much to be desired. The one gem was a the flat screen TV. The breakfast was basic and a lot of construction guys getting breakfast. Yes, I know this was not... Read more

My girlfriend and I went for a weekend in Asheville and stayed at the econo. Not the worst hotel ever. But we both got a sketchy vibe. The first day we laid around until about noon. At 1040 they came to clean the room we declined. The next day we stay out until noon and they waited until we got back to our room to try to clean it so we said sure. They didn't come back to clean for an hr. Which was odd. We also had to place a 60.00 deposit on the room we were not aware of. It would be fine for a ... Read more

My boyfriend and I took a trip to Asheville for our anniversary and it was almost ruined due to this hotel! Stained sheets, shady employees, and the room reeked. Paid for our hotel room with cash(due to another review on here saying they had their identity stolen) and they did not inform us they required an extra 60 dollars to "hold" as a deposit. Not a ton of money but to be side blinded with another fee was crazy. To top it off we checked out around 7 AM to get on the road, 15 minutes down the... Read more

We could not check in two hours early. Staff was surley and rude to my daughter in law and handicapped son. Weird guests on property made me uncomfortable. Old room. The wall next to our room was smashed in by a car. (not while we were there). Worst hotel of our trip. Worth $40 not $60. Go elsewhere.

The room smelled bad and had a section of wet carpet due to plumbing issues. The furniture and bedding were years overdue for replacement. The coffee served at "breakfast" was weak and awful, they were clearly using re-using grounds from a previous pot. Overall, a poor choice of places to stay.

If you're planning on having a great night sleep and a nice, clean room, this IS NOT the place for you. If you don't mind everything in your room smelling like an ash tray, a bed that is so hard that you don't sleep, and rude staff, then this IS the place for you. I understand that you get what you pay for, but I think $150/night should get you a lot more than this.

The hotel is literally on the last yards. Damages had been poorly fixed (not by a professional) holes just filled with a lot of spackling mud and not bothered to sand it down and finish it. The breakfast option was "continental" but a better word would be a sample. The room did not have a hair dryer in it, it did not have a ironing board or iron. The Wi-Fi connection was absolutely horrible. I was unable to maintain the connection on multiple devices and the speed was barely good enough for an... Read more

We stayed here out of necessity because of family emergency. Way over priced for quality. Water in shower goes from ice cold to scalding hot in blink of eye. Is not safe for smaller children. Beds are a bit on hard side. We stayed here 2 nights then moved to better place for remaining 3 nights. I would only stay here as last resort. Staff is very sketchy and tried to charge extra for my son after other staff knew there was 3 of us.

Based on Expedia review we booked this for hotel for 1 night. We paid twice what its worth. In the evening you check in through a glass window with a slot for money. The checkin counter area is locked. There is no lobby and the "Free breakfast" is poor coffee, 2 choices of cereal, gallon jug of milk and dollar store donuts and rolls. Honestly, your money is better kept in your pocket and sleep in your car. Very disappointed. In summary, we were in a non smoking room. Mattress cover had cigarette ... Read more

first thing I saw upon check-in was a cockroack.(called to report and guy said" I'm sorry to hear, but there is nothing I can do, except spray.) no thank you to bug spray fumes in the room all night. the air conditioner did not begin to cool the room until almost dawn. called today to speak with the manager and he said he could not do a refund because he does not have evidence of the bug in the room. Room walls and Door were dirty and the safety chain on the door had been removed.

Very nice room. Had construction going on 100 feet away starting around 6 am. Breakfast was old. Coffee was the only thing fresh. Was waken up several times because of doors slamming. The topping on the cake was getting out of the shower opening up a towel that had been used. Brown stains all over it. Not good housekeeping.I live close to Asheville and want to keep out of town visitors coming back. This place does not help.

Upon checking in, the attendants asked for my credit card I used to book the hotel and photo ID. No problem, I don't mind folks checking the validity of my credentials. However, they made a photo copy of my credit card and driver's license. I asked them what they were doing and they said we keep a copy on file. I asked them if they destroy this when I check out and they said no, we put it in one of the manila envelops and it gets stored in the back office. I asked how long, and the attendan... Read more

We are traveling with our dog and stayed at a very nice Econolodge in West Virginia the night before. So we saw this one and registered. What a mistake! the whole place was badly in need of renovation and repair. The first thing was the refrigerator, which was in a cabinet, started to fall out when we opened the cabinet door, because one of legs on the refrigerator was missing. The room was in terrible shape, the carpet was filthy and worn through in places. When I took a shower the water w... Read more

She said not that she was aware of. She said she would check with the ower when he came In to work. I left and came back about 1 PM. Internet still out. Booked non smoking room and given a smoking room, found a dirty sock and a lighter in one of the beds. We booked for 4 people and they wouldn't give us more than 2 towels per day. Housekeeping was rude when we asked for more towels.

Asheville was my fifth stop on a one week Skyline Drive / Blue Ridge Parkway road trip. The hotel and my room were both very nice and I have absolutely no complaints. The price, however, was substantially higher than comparable accomodations on four of the previous five nights; $100, as opposed to $55/53/57/68/100. That is the only reason for the "4" rather than a "5." Evidently prices in Western NC are higher.

Spent the weekend of 10/22 in room 221. Next day had big welts on body from bug bites. Paid way too much (even for a a Saturday night). Continental breakfast was a joke. I called the health department to complain.

Room smelled musty, door to bathroom wouldn't shut, poor water pressure, and the pillows were very lumpy. Do not be fooled by their website pictures, the room doesn't look nearly that nice in person. It worked ok as a baisic place to sleep for a few hours since we didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on a nice place downtown when we'd only be in the room to sleep while on vacation. It wasn't terrible but it definitely isn't that nice and I wouldn't recommend it.

This is a nice place the room is nice and so is the price but forget this place if you are hoping for a nice breakfast. There a Waffle House across from the Lodge and a nice shopping mall with in walking distance and many nice eat places. If you are on a budget consider Econo Lodge.

BUYER BEWARE! We booked this hotel for two nights day August 12, 2016. Upon arrival we noticed the poor condition of the outside of the hotel. Concrete was falling off the stairway, paint peeling from the soffit and the building itself. Against our better judgement we checked in and went to the room. When we walked in we immediately saw the dirty conditions and could smell the musty, moldy smell in the room. The bathroom had black mold on the ceiling, the light switch was falling off and sizzle... Read more
