This was our favorite Hotel for many reasons but it has lost some of its appeal. The rooms and the lobby need work, they are getting shop worn and need attention. The hotel rooms are still very clean. Most of the front desk help are the best from Patricia, Christina and our favorite NANCY. The dining staff are great as well as the short order cook. Avoid KIMBERLY the front desk manager. She has no personality. Look at my past review to compare. Sorry to drop from 5 to 4 rating.

Our room was located to the back side of the hotel and we heard loud music each night until 11 P.M.. There is a banquet room on th efirst floor and they have frquent events. They closed the restaurant on a Saturday night to host a ticket only event in the dining room. We had to dine in the bar area and with a very limited menu, but at regular restaurant prices. It really turned out to be nothing more than bar food in small portions.

In passing I mentioned it to Miss Noriega and about 30 minutes later a person came by my room with a six pack of Bud Lite Lime. I was blown away, I travel with my job a lot and never has any hotel done that, even a repeat hotels. My family arrived to this hotel with great excitement. Was the first time for all of us to visit the "Big Apple". I spent a ton of time planning and researching. We decided to stay here so we wouldn't have to drive into Manhattan. Was a short drive to the Ferry. However, that first night was pretty rough. On my side of the bed, one of those air pockets in the bed was over inflated and was causing my back to arch all night. The setting would not change as I turned it. I made the hotel awa... Read more

We are Hilton Honors members for the past several years. We know they are known for having a different standard then other brands. I want to advise everyone on how dissatisfied we were of our recent stay at this hotel. The room was very small for four people. You had to turn sideways if two people were passing each other. The lighting in the bathroom was awful for a female. It did not appear updated. The floor / carpet was dirty looking even though it may have been cleaned. As a Hilton Member I was very disappointed with this location. The breakfast buffet was expensive. No outdoor pool that we found. The employees were nice.

This hotel is in our opinion the best option when staying on Staten Island. The rooms are spacious, the staff are so friendly, and you are only 25 minutes away from the ferry crossing to New York. We much prefer to stay on Staten Island and get the ferry each day to NYC. Its a lot cheaper than staying in Manhattan and you can escape the madness when you have had enough. Well worth paying for the breakfast and room deal as it is cheaper than paying for breakfast as extra.

The line to check in/out requires patience.. And be ready to ask all the questions you have when its your turn bcoz otherwise you will have to spend another good 15-20 mins in the line again. I think it's also the location of the front desk. It is in the way between the front door area and the hallway to elevators. Ppl are being bothered to be in the line and to move over all the time by other annoyed ppl who is trying to go outside or to the restaurant.

Was disappointed in the hotel. Room was old and did not have any soap in it. There was toilet tissue in the toilet so it didn't seem like the room was cleaned totally. The staff were very nice, though. We had reserved two beds and only got one. The bed mattress was very firm and the control dial wasn't working to soften it. Maintenance came in and couldn't fix it. I think for us it was just one of those bad luck situations. Might normally be an OK place.

We stayed there for 2 nights while attending a wedding. The location was convenient as it was only a couple miles away from the venue (Snug Harbor) and a shuttle trip away from the ferry. The room was small per our standard, but this is New York so I was not too surprised. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but not much options for food or things to do around the hotel. You need a ride to get to the closest ones. In all, it is a decent hotel that may need a little facelift.

I arrived the hotel at 1 am; the hotel was booked for some wedding party, ended up in a double bed room, which I completely understand, my gripe with the hotel is as follows: - I paid upwards of USD 340 for a night, in a room, when I woke up, had carpet wet with humidity and smell....a nightmare...imagine you getting up from bed and walking on wet is a creepy and horrendous feeling. Nothing special, no breakfast, paper cups. Could hear people out in the hallway quite clearly and the room next door through the shared door. Toilet seat was loose. Like I said, nothing special but we were in town for a wedding so...what are you gonna do?

Having visited the NYC area for the first time I expected an entirely different experience. The hotel is well appointed and the employees from the shuttle bus driver to Front desk to maintenance engineer make sure your visit is pleasing to you. The front desk can take appointments for a free drop-off and pickup from the free Staten island ferry. On sight restaurant is great but J and B Italian personal pizza delivery is as good as I have had anywhere.

Even our taxi driver said it was the best hotel on Staten Island. Stay here when visiting the Big Apple, especially with friends seeing NYC for the first time. Can't beat that ferry ride skyline view/Statue of Liberty experience. HGI usually midrange value properties but this one is an event location...weddings, etc., beautiful landscaping. Every staff member we met was terrific, including in the restaurant (except the female chef at the breakfast buffet, sorry to say). We'll be back.

Recently stayed at Hilton Garden Inn during business trip. Upon check inn the front desk staff was quick and courteous and they advised me of the hotel amenities available. There is plenty of parking at the hotel and they offer valet service as well. As this was a busy business trip I did not use any of the restaurants or services other than the room. The room was clean, smelled good and everything in the room was in working order. I did find the bed to be a little firmer than I like, but that ... Read more

Hotel was clean. HUGE GAP under my room door. Could hear everything in the hallway which made for poor sleep conditions. Breakfast (and the wait staff during that time) was stellar and by far the best service provided during my stay.

The hotel lobby is nice and the staff were OK; however, the room was not clean. The bathroom was filthy and looked like it was not cleaned from the last guest (hair still everywhere and toilet was not clean). We were there for three days and did not get any cleaner. The mattress was uncomfortable - it was like sleeping in a valley. Also, there was a foundation issue with our room. The floor was not evenly leveled and there was a huge crack running in the ceiling. I was really hoping this w... Read more

I booked a room at the Hilton Garden Inn on Staten Island to accommodate a visit to friends who live on Staten Island. I didn't expect much, but was pleasantly surprised at how large and how pretty the place is. There were many beautiful public rooms and yard areas for private parties and events and the artwork and sculptures were very, very interesting. I was comfortable staying there for four nights, but there were a few problems. The rooms are cookie cutter hotel rooms and so drably decor... Read more

Dirty sheets and since I have short blond hair I know the long black ones I found in the morning when I woke up were not mine. I stay in Hiltons when I travel and have been a Diamond for many years. I was very disappointed in this hotel and will stay there again. I am writing this for my travel partner who did not get the survey. I wonder why.

I recently stayed 2 nights here for a company training. The staff are amazing, check in was quick and seamless. I had a nice King Room on the top floor on the back wide of the bldg facing the green space, my request. The lounge/restaurant was wonderful, food above par. They offer Free shuttle service to Newark Airport which I took advantage of. If I had to stay anywhere on Staten I, this hotel would be my first choice.

I look forward to staying at another Hilton Garden Inn in the very near future.

Nice hotel but the internet service is totally unacceptable. If you're traveling for business and need internet, stay at the Hampton Inn. Not Worth The Price. The rooms are dated and dingy. The music from the club and the event rooms is so loud the thumping of the base keeps you from sleeping. Heaters don't work in all the rooms. Way overpriced and wouldn't recommend staying here at all.

Overall hotel was very nice; upscale, clean, and fairly reasonably priced. Very surprised to find TV not working to the point where you could not watch it (serious intermittent signal distortion, checked all wiring secure to no avail). Tub drain partially blocked to the degree that tub filled up with water while taking a shower, shower diverter only partially diverts water from faucet to shower so you don't get full shower flow, the entire hot/cold water valve assembly would move along with the ... The shower in my accessible room was not well lit, in fact not lit at all and was a step in tub. In addition there were no anti skid treads in the tub or a rubber mat to install. The air bed did not work, and there was no other breakfast choice but the $14.95 buffet. Won't be staying here again..

I read a few reviews on this hotel and decided to stay here the night before the NYC Marathon. The hotel itself is pretty standard for a Hilton Garden Inn - semi updated rooms and clean overall. When I got to my room, I heard loud (ground shaking loud) music coming from upstairs - a venue called "Above". There was a wedding that was going until 11pm - not ideal for someone who is waking up at 5:30am. I asked Samantha, a person working at the hotel, if I could switch rooms given my circumstances.... The hotel was hosting a large contingent of runners for the NY Marathon and a wedding. And while logistically that would be challenging to seperate...It would have been smart. I was woken up at 229 a.m. the night before the marathon by drunken loud guests fighting in the hall way. People in multiple rooms near my least 4 people. Victoria and staff did an outstanding job in servicing our event. The food was very good. The Italian cookie table was awesome. The bar/tender was great. The DJ was ok. The room was too small for our group, and it was hard to move around. The music was too loud for people who just wanted to chat with their old classmates who they haven't seen in many years.

Nice location. Front desk personal failed to accept my Hilton Honors advance reservation and pre payment for the full stay and charged my credit card for the full amount of stay, which resulted in tying up my credit line. When I contacted the front desk all I got from him was excuses, and he could not find where the pre payment was posted. The charge was removed after five days and my emails to Hilton Honors.

Believe it or not, there aren't too many good hotels on Staten Island. HGI is a great option: safe, clean, free parking, on site bar/restaurant, and close to the highways. It's a busy hotel, so book in advance. Also, it's a huge wedding and special events menu, so for HHonors folks, upgrades aren't always available. Staff is gracious, even the breakfast Chef is friendly!
