Holiday weekends with friends, family birthdays/anniversaries with 30+ people, or even a quick getaway with my wife and 2 little boys (ages 5 & 2.5yo), Doral Arrowwood never disappoints. We‚??ve come here many times in the past few years (all seasons, mostly spring/summer) so this review is a bit overdue, but I felt I needed to give it the proper recognition it deserves. Check-in is usually very easy and we are always able to call in advance and request specific rooms/floors we want. They usu... Read more

My visit consisted of three nights Thursday through Sunday. I was staying with family friends for a graduation. We had one room the first night and two rooms the other two nights. The stay the first night included the breakfast buffet the next morning. The good things. The room was clean. The beds are conformable. There was plenty of desk space. The room included free Wi-Fi and had a modern flat screen with a wide selection of channels and other entertainment options. The heated indoor/outdoo... Read more

It was a return visit for us (last one three years ago) and we were surprised to see some deterioration -- HVAC system sporadic with temp control, dangerous gaps in sidewalk coming from self-parking lot (hard to see at night), peeling wall paper in hallways, leaky bathroom faucet, However, did see some renovations begun on lower level so hopefully all of this will be completed by our next visit. The Atrium restaurant is still excellent with great food and impeccable service. Food in th... Read more

If you can go here when the hotel is not at capacity, it is a lovely getaway. The staff was really helpful and abundant (except at breakfast in the Atrium and at the pool, but that might've been a function of the fact that it was nearly sold-out). The bartender at the overly dark bar upstairs was good, and the dinner on the Overlook Terrace was also nice (although the menu was far too limited and overpriced. Then again, it was their first day of operations). The gym is large and well-stocked... Read more

The best part of this hotel is the staff. They are all very attentive competent and friendly. The hotel in general is "old school" classy. The rugs and some decor need updating, but the cleanliness and service makes it easy to overlook. I ate in all 3 restaurants and the food quality was very good. In Mulligans(at golf course) I had the grilled vegetables sandwich on ciabatta roll which was delicious. I heard from others in group the burgers are very good as well. Stayed here for 4 nights in June booked by local office of our company. The room itself was just OK but definitely dated. The air-con is too noisy to leave on when in the room. The generator outside room 285 is almost impossible to sleep through. The breakfast is average at best and not starting until 6.30 means multiple people around waiting - this is too late. None of the other guys from our company were impressed either. The room in 70's and 80's numbers are a very long walk fr... Read more

I have been coming to the Doral at least four times a year since 1998. I believe there are new owners but my last two stays have demonstrated a marked decline in facilities and service. Cleanliness is bad. Windows don't close. Broken tiles In Bathroom and Higher rates. Ran out of God at breakfast. Pub food has grown exorbitantly expensive (10 dollar add on for. This is a large hotel/resort in Purchase, NY, literally 2 miles down the road from SUNY/Purchase. Our son will be attending SUNY so we were looking for an easy, comfortable place to stay near the campus. They offer a special lower room rate for people with a SUNY affiliation, so that is a bonus. Our room was not spectacular but it was pleasant enough, comfortable and clean, with everything we needed for a restful stay. With a very early flight, it was safer for me to stay overnight at the Doral rather than leave home at 3:30 am to drive to Westchester Airport. The hotel complex is very large. Self-parking is immediately adjacent to the hotel, but a good five minute walk to the front desk. The lobby has an immense expanse of windows and a multi-tier seating area. The stay was relaxing.Very peaceful environment. The staff was very accommodating. The room was clean with no complaints in that regard.A major negative are the many "Hidden Costs" which were never explained up front such as paying for Valet Service everyday ($15),paying for Internet Service which I needed due to situations at my place of employment and also even having to pay for a refridgerator in your room at the cost of $25.I took for granted that these amenities would be part of the cost of ... We stayed here for a wedding. For the nightly cost, we expected more. Rooms were very outdated, and the lighting in the bathroom and vanity areas was terrible. Front desk staff was very good and helpful. There is a connected indoor and outdoor pool, which looked nice but we did not use. Had the buffet breakfast, which was adequate. Overall our stay was ok, nothing great.

I had an event in the area and took the whole family for a getaway. I had a issue with my reservation as I was accidently checked in under a different name and the room I was given was a downgrade. The staff immediately corrected the issue, provided me 2 drink tickets and a $50 bill adjustment without skipping a beat. I appreciate how they handled the hiccup. However, the desk staff were lacking in professionalism and responsiveness. Several instances, I had to call the front desk multiple times in order to get someone to answer the phone. The cost wasn't bad for the area, but whatever was saved on room will be paid for via everything else. Rooms are so far away from the reception area...mainly because there was a lot of renovation going on. This hotel is old, the carpets in the rooms are quite worn and the worst for me was.....THE WIFI ISN'T FREE. It costs $8.95 for 24hrs. Lastly, if your phone provider is T-mobile, you will pretty much have no phone service.

Good Confrence Destination, there are plenty of rooms and they are well laid out. It also has a very good layout for breaks, better than most. The food for a conference was better than average as well. If you are staying at the facility as well, the rooms are adequate. They are clean and a good size, however they are a bit tired and really in need of some renovation and upgrading. They need pluming updated, better lighting, and more power outlets. This was the noisiest "upscale" hotel I've ever stayed in. The fan on the air conditioner makes an annoying loud click every time before it turns on and then sounds like a leaf blower. The toilet flushing sounds like a jet engine. There was a sign asking guests not to get the bathroom steamy while showering because it would set off the very sensitive smoke detector. Can't even imagine how loud that would have been. Our room was next to an outside door that made a loud bang every time someon... Read more

This is a business conference center hotel, not a luxury resort. The rooms and hallways show lots of wear and tear. We had to call housekeeping three times to get basics that were not in the room when we arrived: toilet paper, shampoo, extra towels and a functioning hair dryer. The pool design is fine but the water was murky. My hair smelled so bad even after rinsing it that I had to wash it again the next morning, after requesting shampoo.

While the grounds of the hotel and immediate area are beautiful the hotel itself is sorely lacking. Before we arrived I received a half dozen emails changing my reservation without my request and we ended up with a room at the far end of the hotel in desperate need of updating with a dirty bathroom. They seem to be understaffed and common areas of the hotel were littered with empty bottles, glasses and room service trays all over the floors. It was disgusting.

I paid additional for what appeared to be a better room and it was horrible. The 1st level floor felt like an unkept basement with clutter and garbage all around. Not to mention smell. We changed our room, but it took over 45 minutes waiting for bell to bring new keys so we ended up going to front desk on our own. 2nd room better, but hotel overall was a disappointment. You should not be renting out rooms on first level AT ALL. clean it up first and finish renovations before renting out.
