i will say the room was clean and comfortable. But the front desk attendee charged us for two days even though we kept telling him we are staying for one night and even prior to coming we called to see if it was okay to stay one night. After two hours of back and forth with the hotel and our bank, the problem was solved and we were given a refund for the second night we were charged which would take another 5 business days to be put back on the card. LATER THAT husband checks his acco... Read more

we travel to the USA every December and try different places in the NY area this was our first visit to Nyack and we were very happy that we did it is a lovely place the hotel is with in walking distance of the little city bars and restaurants also close to a great shopping mall and the taxi are very cheap if you did not want to walk the hotel staff were great and friendly the rooms were good and clean with comfortable beds. Just one thing that bothered us was that the hair dryer is situated ... Read more

My family and I tend to travel a lot and we have stayed in many hotels in which the customer service that we have gotten has honestly been amazing. Unfortunately we cannot say the same thing about this hotel. The receptionist was very nasty, had a lot of attitude, and didn't quite answer all of our questions. Also, the receptionist was bilingual but refused to speak Spanish once spoken to in Spanish, we found that very rude. This hotel experience has been enough to never stay at this hotel again... A family crises took us to this area, totally unknown to us, We happened upon this hotel, stopped in and found from the start the employees would go out of their way to help you. The accomodations were clean and comfortable and include a refrigerator and coffee maker. A real breakfast (not a continental) is usually included in their rate. In addition they offer a 10% discount at their restaurant. Try the shrimp scampi. Lisa's cheesecake is to die for. They are conveniently located near m... Read more

My husband & I were in the area a few weeks ago visiting with some old friends. We decided to again stay at the West Gate Inn before we headed upstate for the weekend. We were pleasantly surprised to see the new changes & upgrades to the rooms they had made since our last visit. The rooms were very clean, new bedding, had a flat screen tv, small refrigerator, microwave & coffee maker too. We have always enjoyed our stay here, the staff is always very friendly & accommodating. We had dinner & br... Read more

West Gate Inn is an older motel in need of upgrades. The rooms are small. Our king bed was uncomfortable and I woke with a sore back and hips every morning during our weekend stay. The main issue was with the wifi internet. We arrived early on Friday afternoon, checked into our room. Since I do some work during my travel, I tested the wifi and found there was no internet in our room (ours was at the end of the building, farthest from the router). I went back to the desk and told them of the prob... Read more

I stayed at the West Gate Inn for a night while on a road trip and ended up forgetting my retainer/retainer case in the bathroom! I called the front desk the next day and they were able to send the retainer to my home free of charge, and even better, they wrapped the case in bubble wrap to ensure it would arrive safely. I really appreciate the hotel's responsiveness and responsible nature since we all know how scary it can be to leave something expensive behind!

We had a second floor room in the rear building, which is a little farther back from the highway, restaurant and lounge. There was no elevator, so if you prefer not to climb stairs, be sure to ask for a first floor room. Our room was clean and comfortable, with the mattress in a full cover and the blankets properly enclosed in sheets. However, one of the extra blankets in the wardrobe closet had a prominent burn hole in it from a cigarette. The room had a microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker ... Read more

We were in Nyack visiting family and this was a very conveniently located little place to stay. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, provided with free coffee and tea. Across the street from a car wash, gas station and a Walgreen's. Also, the diner attached to the hotel is famous for its award-winning cheesecakes which we can vouch for as well!

Our room was adequate and clean but NO hot water for a shower. Terrible attitude with the waitress in the coffee shop with breakfast - watched her treat all customers bad. Prices are high and lousy service :( Non-smoking room was full of disgusting stale smoke. Learned lesson - you get what you pay for. No parking with Latin night (Lounge) on Saturday when we returned back to our rooms.

We stayed at the West Gate Inn for a week in early May while visiting our daughter who lives nearby, and enjoyed ourselves very much! Greg, the owner, even gave us a personal tour of the motel's beautiful art collection, and were pleasantly surprised by how accommodating he and his staff were during our stay. Our room was clean and comfortable, and enjoyed having breakfast in the restaurant each morning. And, we received a great weekly rate to boot. We will definitely stay again the next time we... Good price. Room was extremely small. Not a lot of outlets. If i moved the power strip that was on the desk, the tv would shut off. Moved the nightstand looking for outlets and loads of dust and dirt. Breakfast was good and was served fast.

Standard motel room but clean and quiet. Room was large; beds a little firm for my taste. Plenty of towels and hot water. Complimentary hot breakfast at the motel restaurant was great. Staff was pleasant and helpful. This motel was in a perfect location not only to explore charming Nyack, but also near scenic route 9W which takes you to Bear Mountain and beautiful villages on the way.

We stayed here last minute, and found the area good for what we needed it for, a place to stay while we toured Nyack & Piermont. Perfect to get away for the weekend & enjoy the artistic crafty town of Nyack!

Over all had good stay. Bathroom had no exaust moisture very bad during shower leaving mold on ceiling and around fixtures, causing drop ceiling to sag. Over all my stay was not good, and would not recommend this motel. the only good thing was the key lime cheese cake in the restaurant. GOOD!!!!

This is an old hotel, yet well located in an interesting little village in outer New York City. Given the location it is reasonably priced, and comes with all amenities we needed. Wifi was excellent, an old fridge with freezer section, microwave. Ample free parking The room is in dire need a a make-over, new carpets, wallpaper, bed are old, but still comfortable. Free Breakfast in the on site diner was quaint, plentiful but strange menu style selection process... Eg you can't have both co... Read more

The West Gate Inn is about 40 minutes north of New York City, making it a good compromise for a cost-effective place to stay when traveling to New York. The room was clean and the wireless bandwidth was satisfactory. Breakfast is provided in the attached restaurant,so it was a cut above the normal budget hotel breakfast. The only downside is that it is located right next to the New York Thruway, so there is traffic noise. If you are someone who can tune that out, this place is a good choice.

This is a nice, older hotel located in the outer NYC region. It was very easy to get to from the highway and was very quiet. The room was very quiet and clean. I slept wonderfully in the bed and the shower was very clean and comforting. We were able to order Chinese/Thai food to our room which came quickly and was delicious. The front desk had provided menus of local delivery options. There was a very clean gas station across the street where we grabbed some beverages (tea, Gatorade, bottled wat... Read more

It is a basic hotel that serves your needs if you don't need frills just a reat bed for the evening. The staff is great and always at your service. First they noticed my wife having a difficult issue walking after they had assigned me a room. Before we left the check-in area they asked if we'd prefer a 1st floor room rather than the 2nd floor room they had checked us into. It was great and even had a handicap parking space. The room although not really large had everything needed. Very comfy m... Read more

People at the reception are very nice. The room is basic and clean. There is no elevator to the second floor rooms. Breakfast is good, but the wait staff is slow and expects a tip. Is it worth $130 for the evening....I do not think so.

The first problem was with making a reservation. The advertised price was $100 for one night, so I booked it. I received a confirmation email showing I my credit card was charged $126. I thought that was high "tax" amount. Trying to call was problematical. The recording system is almost impossible to navigate. When I finally did reach a live person and posed my question, he hung up on me. Later, I received another email explaining that the higher charge was due to a fee for "currency exch... Read more

I had to attend a wedding at The Time Hotel (a 2-minute walk from the West Gate) last Saturday night, and didn't want to spend $200+ to stay there, so I stayed here. Thinking that I could avoid the late-night West Gate Inn Lounge/Bar-goers (i.e. drunks), I asked for a room, as far away from the bar, as possible. Well, not only did I hear the pulsating sounds from across the street at The Time Hotel (those poor guests!!), but the West Gate drunks, didn't stop being "themselves", until 4:15 a.m.!!... Read more
