Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Great location near Hells Kitchen. Older hotel with a lot of character. Room very basic but met our needs. Some street noise at night, window air conditioner helped drown that out!

The Washington Jefferson Hotel is in a great location. It is clean and the service you receive from staff is excellent. It is a VERY BASIC hotel. Small room and no luxuries - Very plain. It is safe. For the prices it was not a good value.

On a leafy street, the WJ Hotel provides good, clean, basic rooms and amenities in a location adjacent to the theatre district. There is the C Line subway one block away, as well as not one but three Starbucks within two blocks! Ninth Avenue has many good, funky, reasonably priced restaurants and good delis.

Whenever I go to NYC I like to stay at the Washington Jefferson. The location is ideal for Broadway shows, great restaurants and conveniently located to the train lines and all the city has to offer. This is a boutique hotel with only 6 floors allowing you easy access in and out of the building. The hotel is located on a quiet street which is ideal after experiencing the vibrancy of the city. Excellent clean hotel. The reason I booked this hotel was I am a single traveller and hate paying double for extra rom I don't need. This hotel offers single occupancy rates and I stayed in a decent sized room for New York standards with a single bed. Comfortable, clean. My room was back of the building overlooking a courtyard so less noise which was great. Aircon in room which was very welcome to escape the New York heat. Very good location, 5 minutes walk to Broadway and nearest subway about a... Read more

You will not regret your stay at this hotel. Staff is great and very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. This was a very clean and functional hotel in an excellent location. We booked the standard room which was small with a tiny bathroom, but too be expected. The Wi-Fi hardly worked which was frustrating - even when we paid the additional costs. The staff were friendly and welcoming. If you are watching the budget and don't want to spend too much time hanging around the hotel, then this would be a great choice - especially if they fix the Wi-Fi issues.

The unfortunate side of this review is that we had stayed at a large 5 star hotel prior to this one, so our expectations were high. The staff are excellent - friendly, happy, efficient and nothing was a drama. Definitely one of the best parts of the facility. Check in was smooth and efficient. The lift is straight out of the 70's - small and slow. The room we had, at the front of the property on the 3rd floor was small - one side of the bed had about 6 inches space to the wall and we really stru... Read more

We stayed here at the Washington Jefferson Hotel four years ago, & really enjoyed the location. It was as we had remembered it, very convenient, clean, friendly & helpful staff. The coffee shop at the next corner had unfortunately moved. However the Hotel had added coffee in the foyer, which was helpful, excepting that it was only from Monday to Friday! The laundry a few doors down the street had also unfortunately moved. It had been very reasonably priced, & far less than hotel rates. Ther... Read more

Clean rooms and beds, every day clean towels and sheets. Our compliments to the houskeeping of the WJH in New York City. If we come back we will come back to the same hotel. No doubt about that.

Unfortunate start- quickly resolved. Booked by a friend, our room was not suitable for a longer stay. Ok for a business stopover, but we had just spent 3 weeks travelling, including a cruise, and had big suitcases. The very small room just couldn't cope with us and our luggage! Spoke to front desk staff and told them our dilemma, they were sympathetic and quickly organised a larger room( a bit more money but we didn't mind). The staff were great helped with every enquiry and even the tours and theatre tickets. If you are looking for places with bars and restaurants in the hotel your doing nyc wrong. Plenty of pubs delis diners on every corner, your hotel is the last place you want to be.

Front desk staff were very friendly. I was a little concerned about the looks of the elevator, and the loud sound from the AC when I got to my room, but it was just right for me. Clean, firm mattress, soft pillows, free wifi, nice bathroom. There was no bathtub, but the free bath products were quality, and again, it was very clean. The location is close to the subway and very close to some great ramen restaurants! I will definitely stay here again.

Needed a simple and affordable place to stay in NY. The location was very good as it was near Times Square and asian restaurants. The room itself was small, hence the name. The desk was old fashioned and crammy but workable. A/C was cold although it was installed under a window. Bathroom was also small but good enough.
