Service was poor from valet to front desk and then concierge showed limited support in printing out a document. W staff always seem to have something more important than helping the customer. Room was OK for NYC although hot and the Air con made a loud noise so had to turn it off. The late night concierge lady with "colourful" hair was awesome and went above and beyond to help me out - She is definitely your saving grace.

I admit that I am a fan of the W chains but there's a reason. Great customer service. I enjoy staying at this hotel for its location, the easy access to the Bliss spa, located within the hotel and the great service. The rooms I've stayed in have varied a bit - from a smaller room to a suite - but the decor is a little more modern and in good condition. If you get room service, you might have it delivered by Reza, if you're lucky, And then if you come back - even months later - he remembers you. ... Read more

W is good in one respect. The location is very good if you have a lot of dealings on the East side of New York, and it is within walking distance of Grand Central and many good restaurants. The rooms are very small. I think the price they extract from you is overboard for what you get. But that's NYC.

This is a very comfortable hotel, but not at all appropriate for a traveler on a budget. Pros : excellent location, clean, comfortable bed. Cons : cost, excessive noise from the hotel bar (we arrived to our hotel to a fistfight in front of the main doors), rooms are small, 15$ surcharge for wifi. Despite the location, there are better alternatives for a better price. The main reason for the three star rating (instead of two) is due to the staff being very courteous and knowledgeable, and the... Read more

My New York weekend started at the W Hotel on Lexington Avenue. I was greeted Buy Derron who is always courteous and welcoming. The Derron knew how to point me to all the right directions from Rockefeller Center to Tao restaurant. He's one of the main reasons I come back to that hotel time and time again. This hotel is in the perfect spot for so many attractions which makes it really easy to get to. The meatball at Lavo restaurant nearby is a must for Foodies. I can't wait to go back!

We're currently staying at the W New York, Lexington ave and travelled from the UK for our first time ever in the US. When we arrived we were able to check in early, however one of the lady's at the front that we spoke to didn't seem as friendly as we would have expected, so that had put us off from going downstairs to ask any questions. This hotel is clean and tidy. The only down sides i could see whilst i visited the W New York is that walls are very thin and you could hear people in the hallway when they are checking in and out of the hotel. the security is very good specially as you need to use your room key to use the lift, it would of been nice if they had explained that on check in but luckily someone else came into the lift and told us. Also, complimentary fruit was available in the afternoon, as well as coffee in the morning and ice water (flavored with lemons and mint). As a single woman, I appreciated the security measures in the elevator. My room was lovely--a very comfy king size bed, bathrobe, bath amenities from Bliss Spa, and a minibar. This hotel was in a central location. Valet parking was great when checking in, however it took a while to retrieve our car when checking out. It was quite a busy morning though, so I don't blame the employees. The lobby was quite loud at night time, but the noise could not be heard from our room. The room was a decent size, with a view of the busy street below. The Bliss products were a nice touch to the washroom.

Midtown location was perfect and easy to get around to see and experience what we needed. The hotel is modern, alive and has the energy of the city. Great lobby bar, well appointed room - although tiny, met our needs. Bed was comfortable, tight but functional bathroom but overall quiet and pleasing to arrive back to after walking 20,000 steps in the big apple. Would recommend if in the midtown area and looking for something hip and stylish.

The hotel is in a great location but I would recommend staying somewhere where you don't feel like you staying in a closet. Also there is construction going on next door and unless you are up before 8 am it will wake you up. I asked to be moved to the other side of the building away from the construction.

It is definitely interesting when I opened the hotel room door. The room is mauve and is cosy, I mean small. You cannot lay your suit case out and the bathroom, luckily I am on my own but if you have a couple it may get a bit challenging. Like most New York hotels, no kettle. You need to get one from the front desk and strangely it was not even intuitive that they bring the mugs and coffee. The location of the hotel is great! It's close to the 5th avenue and most of the main tourist attractions, that's probably the only reason why we chose this hotel. The rooms are tiny, the front desk service is horrible. We were told that we needed to leave a deposit, so I gave them my credit card. Was not informed of how much they will be taking, were very rude and not welcoming. At the time of the deposit I was told that it is only a hold and would be released at the time of checkout. Nice room. Beds comfortable. Down comforters. Great water pressure. Robes, hair dryers, makeup mirror for the ladies! Decent view. I will say - don't get a room w 11 - i.e. 2011 (20th floor) it is next to elevators! You hear them all night! That's the only thing I would change! Staff is great - professional, friendly - the terrace and lounge are very nice! Didn't try any of their food!

This was my first stay at this property, and I was impressed by the top-notch service and overall "can-do" attitude I encountered among all staff there. My requests, even the most minor, were addressed quickly, courteously and professionally. I had a cozy but nicely appointed room on the 16th floor--and the "mini view" was lovely. Bed and linens were first rate, and the windows must be, too, as I heard very little street noise. The only downside I experienced was no coffee service in the room. ... Read more

Having stayed in W Hotels in Asia, I had come to expect a certain standard of hospitality. I have previously stayed at W Sentosa Singapore, W Taipei and W Retreat Bali, both for business and getaways. This particular hotel matches those hotels in terms of the ground level bar and reception, unfortunately that is where it ends. Our 'Wonderful' room was clean. However there was no guest compendium available to me, until I called an impatient operator who eventually got a photocopied version o... Read more

While this location is helpful for business travel in midtown, beyond that, this is a bad W hotel. The addition of self-swiping kiosks at the front desk makes it look like a supermarket, complete with long lines in the mornings and evenings. The rooms are dated and in need of a refresh. On this particular trip, I needed to find a place to have a conference room with a coworker (prefer not to do that in my hotel room) and we couldn't find anywhere that wasn't absolutely pumping music at 9AM. ... From the looks of this place, this hotel seems high class/ high touch. They have beautiful modern decorations, rooftop pool, nice breakfast, attractive bar, etc. But the service was very disappointing. The room is incredible small and was promised a room with double bed but ending up with a rollaway bed. Worst W experience ever and was there for two days. The only good thing was the location.

This is a decent hotel in a good location, with a nice bar and lobby area. The rooms, however, are very small, particularly the bathroom in the standard type room. I'd avoid it if you're a larger than average man, but otherwise, a good choice for a place with a bit of design flair.

It is tough to travel to NYC, especially after Asia and to some extent Europe. This W ain't one. Apart from the lobby and the bar as well as the amenities, the room looks like inside my boat. The bathroom is probably 1.5m2 and there is 20cm between the wall and the end of the bed. The TV screen is up in the corner like in cheap hotels. Yes this was a simple room, although you pay $300. I guess that for NYC, it is quite good. The only thing that compares to other W is the crowd. Btw, the service ... Read more

Prior to booking this property, I read many reviews. Having stayed in several other W properties in other cities, I had an expectation and this property not only met, but exceeded my prior experiences. When we arrived, we were greeted so warmly and the staff throughout the entire trip was exceptional. We arrived in our room and it was clean, neat and we had a great view. Obviously since it was in New York City, there isn't much space but that's to be expected. With that said, the space that... Read more

I strayed one night at the W New York and was really disappointing. The room was very small, and next to the ice machine. The hot water in the shower was not working properly and the AC was incredibly noisy. I slept badly and was highly unsatisfied. When i complained at the reception the answer was a shrug. Definitely I will not come back here, and wonder if going to other Ws in the future considering the quality was so low.

Stayed at the W New York for work for three days, two nights. The staff was fine. The bar areas were really nice. The room itself was very small. The closet had one rod sticking out of it toward you for hanging clothes (not parrallel to the wall but protruding away from it). This wasn't ideal as I was there for work and needed to hang up my clothes. The bed was one double bed. Again, super small, but it was fine for just one person for a night or two.

Good efficient hotel with wholesome green apples at the desk. Was easy to walk to our various destinations. We had a suite on 14th floor which had view of a giant crane. Even though we had asked them to supply the complimentary coffee pods for every morning, we had to remind them everyday to do so.

Traveling to NY for the first time I was expecting hotel room to be on the smaller side. With that in mind I booked the "Spectacular" for its slightly larger size. I was amazed at quite how bad my hotel room was. The downstairs area seemed nice enough and the staff are good, but the rooms were in total disrepair. The tiny bathroom with flimsy door and fluorescent strip lighting had a number of holes in the wall where fittings had fallen out and been moved, with no attempt to tidy them up. The rooms were dark and, presumably as a result, not well cleaned. This might be expected of a $50 a night highway stop, but not a $600 a night central NY hotel, even wit... Read more

I stayed three nights at the W Hotel on Lexington Avenue while in New York on business. The hotel is perfectly situated for both business and shopping in mid-town and is a short walk from Grand Central should you need to take a train to the suburbs etc. The room was "cozy" so not the biggest I've stayed in, but was adequate.
