It is one of the best New York hotels I believe . Very nice and safe location (next to it is the New York police station ) . It is very clean and the rooms are big enough for a hotel in the center of New York :)

Pros: large rooms to accommodate 6+; modern look; clean; excellent location next to Times Square and Penn Station; decent restaurant Cons: pull-out bed is like sleeping on springs with a sheet; $25 charge for cots even when needed because of discomfort (+ we were told cots may not even be available); extremely poor wifi; intermittent television signal; no fan in bathroom

We liked that the hotel was not too far a walk from Times Square but far enough away so wasn't noisy. Was also quite close to The Highline The hotel itself was nice & clean & our room was spacious. We flew into/out or JFK & the hotel was really handy for getting the air train & then LIRR, it's literally a few minutes walk from penn station

Booked this hotel according to the reviews that I had read and unfortunately was not what I was expecting. New York hotels are expensive enough as it is and for the price that we paid for our stay we were quite disappointed. We booked a deluxe room-the size of the room was good but cannot say the same for the cleanliness. We found crumbs on the couch-the floor was extremely dirty-bathroom was not clean so it left to wonder if the room had been serviced before we arrived. Needless to say we had... Read more

Very nice and modern hotel in a great location. Close enough to the main streets and the center of the city but also away from the crowded parts. Good food options in surrounding neighborhood. This would be a great option for large groups or families. The room we had was a premium room which was almost like having your own studio apartment. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was cleaned to a high standard every day. I would happily stay here again.

My sister and my daughter and I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend which was my 50th bday as well. I chose the room because of the two queen beds instead of full size. The room was very nice and we had plenty of space. I did learn that the closer you are to the street....the more you hear the street noise. Trash pickup was around 4:00 am twice during our stay. Not fun. We were beside the police station but that was just a comfort and not a problem. There was a subway connection within ... Read more

I was told my room would be ready between 12 and 1pm, as I am writing this it is 3:30 pm (checking in should be at 3pm). Besides Edwin and Zahir who took great care of my suitcases as I needed to get into them all afternoon. When I first got here (I booked thru Travelzoo at $199.00 a night) someone walked in and got a better room for $149.00 and got it right away.

I really wanted to give this hotel higher rate but after some thinking they really don't deserve it. We came at the hotel around 2:45 pm and our room wasn't ready which I understand it can happen and for us it wasn't problem to wait. BUT it was already 4 pm and although we were waiting on sofa literary 1 metar from reception, nobody even looked at us. Eventualy we asked for the room and finally got one. Having stayed in luxury hotels in India, it was a rude shock to me to see a room as small as the one I stayed in at TRYP Wyndham Times Square for an amount that would have easily fetched a junior suite in one of Mumbai's top 5-stars. Well, welcome to the USA! The location is literally 'a stone's throw' from Times Square. Check-in at 11 pm was a nightmare with three people in front of me and only one check-in clerk but thankfully I could check in quickly. The rooms are really small as are the bat... Read more

The hotel has recently changed to the gallivant hotel. It is perfectly locate one block away from times square and only a short 15min walk to central park all in all perfectly situated, one negative is the size of the room that we where in room 1002 it was tiny even for new york standards. But we still enjoyed our 5 nights in newyork.

We are from Texas so we definitely like our space! However, we were fully prepared when we traveled to New York to have a tiny room. That was NOT the case at all! The rooms were very spacious! This hotel is located about a 15 minute walk to Times Square. We loved the location as it was close enough to walk but didn't have the noise of "rush hour" and all the people. Chad overheard this and told me that he would try to get one for me. When I returned to my room, it was set it up and I was watching movies that evening! New furnishings, very stylish. Great staff. My great rate put me on a lower floor, which is a problem. The interior and exterior walls are thin. NYC street noise is 24/7. Our family rented two rooms for 8 days at the backside of the building, 3rd floor. Some guests on higher floors at front complained about the garbage truck noise....we had no problem. Although we spent most of our time outside the rooms, the rooms were perfect for us. Adequate space, very clean, comfortable beds, very nice bathrooms. Good location. Close proximity to the police station was a plus. Bar is classy, but I'd skip the breakfast. Expensive, short staffed.

Visited with the family in the end of June. Great hotel. Nice and friendly staff in a very good location. The only the reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is the Internet. It was so slow. Having internet when planning and booking restaurants is very important when visiting a town like NY. I hope Tryp can improve the Internet. When that's fixed I'd give it 5 :)

Great service, super friendly staff, including Herbert, Gennaro and Ramon, very clean. A police station next door makes you feel safe. The subway is just down the street, Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden and Times Square within walking distance. We had a previously assigned smaller room and were offered to move the following day. The lady at the reception desk organized a smooth transfer even without us being present. The new room was spacious and quiet. Next trip to NYC, we will def... Read more

We had a problem with our booking which was made by Travel Zoo...I would not recommend them...The reservation no. they gave us was not valid and they claimed that the person who we spoke to no longer worked for them. We wasted at least 2 hours of our time trying to straighten things out. Ana the assistant front office manager for the hotel made sure that we had a room at the price quoted. She even comped us breakfast. The rooms were modern, clean, and comfortable....and the service was outstand... Read more

Loved loved loved our stay at Tryp. Genaro and John were incredibly helpful. We loved the family room accommodations - plenty of room for our family of 4 - which is remarkable in NYC. Loved the gastro bar too - great drinks and good food. We would stay again! Many thanks -

Family of five (3 children aged 10,6 and 5) stayed in New York for a couple of nights as a precursor to going to Florida because we wanted to see New York. The hotel is in a good location we walked in 36 degree heat to the Empire State Building, The Top of the Rock and the Central Park no problem. The room was massive for a hotel with two double beds and two good sized singles in bunk form, these could be folded away when not needed.

Stayed here recently for a week mid July, got an amazing rate in the Tryp flash sale that they had in January 2016 (via their facebook page. Check in was quick and we were soon in our room on the 6th floor (601). It was a large room, 2 double beds, 2 bunk beds and a sofa bed, plus 2 bathrooms. It was spotless and I would say functional rather than luxurious, but that is what we expected and were very happy with. It was a corner room with views of 35th st and 9th Ave. We heard very little no... Read more

We only stayed one night before a cruise, but the hotel is in a perfect location near Penn Station. The rooms are large and extremely well kept. The staff is positive and helpful. You are near Starbucks, two pharmacies, and close to the high line. Restaurants abound including the pub in the hotel.

This central New York hotel was a pleasant surprise - nice, clean and good size rooms, new and modern, quite - no noise from street, centrally located. Nice reception area with possibilities for socialising with other travellers.

We stayed here a few weeks before Christmas to take in all of the NYC sites during the holiday times. We booked a deal through an online broker and paid $229 per night, not too shabby for an NYC hotel close to Times square, etc. The rooms were nice, but small NYC style. The bathroom was a bit strangely placed and did not allow for too much privacy, but other than that, sleeping was comfortable and the rooms were quiet. There was some construction going on next door so it was noisy during the... Read more

This hotel is very well located. We (5 persons) were in a family room on the 5th floor. Room was large and airy even with 5 of us. It had 2 queen size doubles and a bunk bed as well as a sofa bed. Only one bathroom which was an issue a couple of times. I had to use the lobby restroom! Well decorated. Overall absolutely no complaints at all.

We stayed at this resort for a 4-day weekend back in March 2016. We were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday with another couple. We found a really good deal for this hotel on Travel Zoo. When we arrived they gave us a "welcome package" with sweets and salty snacks -- a very nice touch! The people in the lobby were very helpful. When our pre-arranged cab didn't arrive as planned the concierge was right there to help get us a limo to the airport. The hotel was also close to some very nic... Read more

Our flight got delayed by one day and we called the hotel to inform them and ask if we could stay a day longer and we got immediately the phone confirmation. When arriving at the hotel it went according to what we agreed on the phone (no penality) and we got a nice room at the 15th floor. Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was correct and it's worth to mention the food at the bar where I ate the best guacamole I've ever eaten. The price/quality of this hotel is good.

We stayed here for 3 nights and although things started off badly (the room offered did not include the sofa bed we had booked) the hotel made amends by offering us free breakfasts for the duration of our stay. We liked the modern feel and the location - an easy walk to Times Square and also Penn Station for the subway. Our room on the 14th floor had great views. Nobody told us that there was a terrace on the 15th floor, until we found it by chance on our last evening! Also the gym is smaller ... Read more

On the positive side the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel had over booked on twin rooms so we were given two rooms with an inter connecting door on a very high floor, which was good. One room was a good size the other very small. In the shower room of the small room the shower cubicle was not clean, I had to wash it down before using it and remove hair from the last occupant. The front of the shower gel holder kept falling off. On the floor of the shower room near the d... Read more

I've reached mostly destinayions by foot. My trip with TRYP was successful as for business and for leisure! Highly recomended!

We had a fantastic family holiday in New York and I wanted to take this opportunity to give special mention to the TRYP Hotel Times Square South. The hotel itself was ideally situated as a central base for touring around the city's attractions. At the start of the trip my wife had inadvertently left her leather jacket in a shuttle car that had brought us to the hotel from the airport. The loss of the jacket would have put a damper on the holiday, but due to the efforts of the hotel's staff (both... Read more

Travelled in a family group of 7 had a double room and a family room. I stayed in a double somewhere in the 700s room. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable. The decor is very cool & modern. The only down side is the walls are paper thin!!! I could clearly hear people's conversations next door. As I was in New York & had a busy time sightseeing it didn't bother me too much but I am generally a light sleeper. The family room was very spacious & is great value slep... Read more

It was in walking distance from Penn station, Times Square, Madison Square garden and so much more. Next time I travel to NYC, this is where I will stay!

Booked this for one night - wish we had more time to stay but were in for a Broadway play. Coming out of state by train, two tickets in the Orchestra, staying at TRYP was by far the best value! No carpeting, great wood floors, nice glass table for eating or business work. Loved the modern style- fits right in with big city life. Incredible room, luxury linens, plush bath towels great space to move about. Super clean, sparkling mirrors and glass tops. Nice seating area on the 15th floor balcony... Read more

Cannot recommend this property highly enough if you are looking for a room that sleeps a large family (6 or more) - the room was enormous and easily contained us and our luggage. It was also on a relatively quiet street (for NYC) and right next door to police station. Great location and amazing value for money.

We stayed at the TRYP for 3 nights this summer and it was fantastic. We rented a family room that had 2 queen beds, 2 bunk beds and a pull out couch. The room was very spacious and well designed. The beds were very comfortable and the room was very quiet. You can even open the windows in the room, which I just love. It was quiet enough to even have the windows open over night. So many hotels are sealed up tight.

This hotel offers excellent value for NYC. The hotel is a few blocks from Penn Station and there's a subway stop at the corner. Times Square and the theater district is within walking distance but the hotel is not on Times Square. There isn't much on the block of the hotel, except for a police station, but there are lots of restaurants and shops on the avenues. We arrived very late at night and had booked a stay for 8 nights. We were first given a very small room (I would say it was a single, not a double). The following morning we changed rooms without a fuss. The second room was spacious, clean and the bed was decently sized. Everything looked new and properly taken care of. Toilet was new and sufficient. It is well located, near the Madison (2 minutes) and 10 minutes to times square. The gastrobar had good food at reasonable prices and a very good... Read more

Not sure why the people who work there is unhappy. Never a smile, did little to extend warmth and customer service beyond the basics. Room was very good. Housekeeper and rooms were great.
