It is one of the best New York hotels I believe . Very nice and safe location (next to it is the New York police station ) . It is very clean and the rooms are big enough for a hotel in the center of New York :)

Pros: large rooms to accommodate 6+; modern look; clean; excellent location next to Times Square and Penn Station; decent restaurant Cons: pull-out bed is like sleeping on springs with a sheet; $25 charge for cots even when needed because of discomfort (+ we were told cots may not even be available); extremely poor wifi; intermittent television signal; no fan in bathroom

We liked that the hotel was not too far a walk from Times Square but far enough away so wasn't noisy. Was also quite close to The Highline The hotel itself was nice & clean & our room was spacious. We flew into/out or JFK & the hotel was really handy for getting the air train & then LIRR, it's literally a few minutes walk from penn station

Booked this hotel according to the reviews that I had read and unfortunately was not what I was expecting. New York hotels are expensive enough as it is and for the price that we paid for our stay we were quite disappointed. We booked a deluxe room-the size of the room was good but cannot say the same for the cleanliness. We found crumbs on the couch-the floor was extremely dirty-bathroom was not clean so it left to wonder if the room had been serviced before we arrived. Needless to say we had... Read more

Very nice and modern hotel in a great location. Close enough to the main streets and the center of the city but also away from the crowded parts. Good food options in surrounding neighborhood. This would be a great option for large groups or families. The room we had was a premium room which was almost like having your own studio apartment. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was cleaned to a high standard every day. I would happily stay here again.

My sister and my daughter and I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend which was my 50th bday as well. I chose the room because of the two queen beds instead of full size. The room was very nice and we had plenty of space. I did learn that the closer you are to the street....the more you hear the street noise. Trash pickup was around 4:00 am twice during our stay. Not fun. We were beside the police station but that was just a comfort and not a problem. There was a subway connection within ... Read more

I was told my room would be ready between 12 and 1pm, as I am writing this it is 3:30 pm (checking in should be at 3pm). Besides Edwin and Zahir who took great care of my suitcases as I needed to get into them all afternoon. When I first got here (I booked thru Travelzoo at $199.00 a night) someone walked in and got a better room for $149.00 and got it right away.

I really wanted to give this hotel higher rate but after some thinking they really don't deserve it. We came at the hotel around 2:45 pm and our room wasn't ready which I understand it can happen and for us it wasn't problem to wait. BUT it was already 4 pm and although we were waiting on sofa literary 1 metar from reception, nobody even looked at us. Eventualy we asked for the room and finally got one. Having stayed in luxury hotels in India, it was a rude shock to me to see a room as small as the one I stayed in at TRYP Wyndham Times Square for an amount that would have easily fetched a junior suite in one of Mumbai's top 5-stars. Well, welcome to the USA! The location is literally 'a stone's throw' from Times Square. Check-in at 11 pm was a nightmare with three people in front of me and only one check-in clerk but thankfully I could check in quickly. The rooms are really small as are the bat... Read more

The hotel has recently changed to the gallivant hotel. It is perfectly locate one block away from times square and only a short 15min walk to central park all in all perfectly situated, one negative is the size of the room that we where in room 1002 it was tiny even for new york standards. But we still enjoyed our 5 nights in newyork.

We are from Texas so we definitely like our space! However, we were fully prepared when we traveled to New York to have a tiny room. That was NOT the case at all! The rooms were very spacious! This hotel is located about a 15 minute walk to Times Square. We loved the location as it was close enough to walk but didn't have the noise of "rush hour" and all the people. Chad overheard this and told me that he would try to get one for me. When I returned to my room, it was set it up and I was watching movies that evening! New furnishings, very stylish. Great staff. My great rate put me on a lower floor, which is a problem. The interior and exterior walls are thin. NYC street noise is 24/7. Our family rented two rooms for 8 days at the backside of the building, 3rd floor. Some guests on higher floors at front complained about the garbage truck noise....we had no problem. Although we spent most of our time outside the rooms, the rooms were perfect for us. Adequate space, very clean, comfortable beds, very nice bathrooms. Good location. Close proximity to the police station was a plus. Bar is classy, but I'd skip the breakfast. Expensive, short staffed.

Visited with the family in the end of June. Great hotel. Nice and friendly staff in a very good location. The only the reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is the Internet. It was so slow. Having internet when planning and booking restaurants is very important when visiting a town like NY. I hope Tryp can improve the Internet. When that's fixed I'd give it 5 :)

Family of five (3 children aged 10,6 and 5) stayed in New York for a couple of nights as a precursor to going to Florida because we wanted to see New York. The hotel is in a good location we walked in 36 degree heat to the Empire State Building, The Top of the Rock and the Central Park no problem. The room was massive for a hotel with two double beds and two good sized singles in bunk form, these could be folded away when not needed.

Stayed here recently for a week mid July, got an amazing rate in the Tryp flash sale that they had in January 2016 (via their facebook page. Check in was quick and we were soon in our room on the 6th floor (601). It was a large room, 2 double beds, 2 bunk beds and a sofa bed, plus 2 bathrooms. We stayed here a few weeks before Christmas to take in all of the NYC sites during the holiday times. We booked a deal through an online broker and paid $229 per night, not too shabby for an NYC hotel close to Times square, etc. The rooms were nice, but small NYC style. The bathroom was a bit strangely placed and did not allow for too much privacy, but other than that, sleeping was comfortable and the rooms were quiet. We had a great experience here. Four friends and I booked one of the family rooms with 2 queen beds, bunk beds and sleeper sofa. It was a great use of space and big for an NYC hotel. This was ideal as we were all together in one room. Would be great alternative instead of getting two rooms and hoping they adjoin especially if you have kids. Clean, comfortable beds, close to everything! Staff was wonderful. Would absolutely stay here again.

The situation of the Hotel was excellent being near attractions, close to the subway and near the rapid link from JFK via the LIRR. In spite of its central location it was quiet ( possibly being on the 10th floor helped). The room was comfortable and everything worked including the free wi-fi. Reception staff were efficient and helpful

The rooms with 2 Queen beds and two bunks are very useful if you are a family of 5-7 people. The location is incredible as well, on the E line with easy access to both JFK airport and the West Village. Madison Square Garden and Herald Square are 2 blocks away. Times Square is a 8-10 minute walk. If you need a laundry, there's a great laundromat around the corner on 9th Ave.

Everyone we had contact with at the TRYP NYC was exceptional, from front desk staff, bellmen, to housekeeping personnel. We were accommodated with an early check-in, a perk for which many NYC Hotels are requesting an additional fee. The rooms are very modern with reclaimed wood floors, free WiFi, HD TVs and iPod docks. The desk area housed a Keurig coffee maker and a stocked bookshelf for those who forgot reading material. The bathroom was small, usual for NYC, but there was a lucky bamboo plant... Read more

The only thing I would say (which is not a detriment to the hotel or it's staff) is that there was construction directly outside my window at 7 a.m. Monday morning (two night stay) which apparently is going on on weekdays.
