We stayed at the Wellington for 5 nights in June. We had a large room on the 15th floor. The hotel is older but very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a luxury hotel this is not your place but if you are looking for convenience at a good price- this is for you! Everything is within walking distance; Central Park, Times Square, 5th Ave, and the subway is across the street. I would definitely stay here again!

My wife and I stayed for 4 days the week before Memorial Day weekend. The price was very fair for the proximity to everything. The subways have a bunch of lines within a few blocks and one station right outside the side entrance for the hotel. 5 minute walk to Central Park, less than 10 to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, or a Broadway show. We were on the 3rd floor and street noise was never any problem. It looks a bit dated but everything is clean and the room was a lot more spacious than I e... Read more

Stayed for 5 nights end of May/beginning June. Emailed hotel beforehand to request high floor and 2 rooms together. Heard nothing back, had a high floor but rooms on different floors. One room had a bigger bed and bigger bathroom than the other !! Paid $35 for wifi for 2 devices for 5 nights and they gave us the same again complimentary so all our party had it. Hotel rooms are dated as most have previously said. The net curtains have seen better days and the air con very noisy. Glad I took ear ... Read more

On arrival we were thrilled to be upgraded to room 2547 on the 25th floor overlooking Central Park. My neice had emailed the hotel to tell them it was my 60th soon. We had a lovely suite with 2 ensuite bedrooms. Every day we had clean towels and bedding. Overall a perfect hotel at a perfect location for sightseeing. Hope to be back next year

Ideally placed on Seventh Avenue, a couple of blocks from Central Park, one street over from Broadway, a stone's throw from the restaurants of Hell's Kitchen and with nearby subway entrances (when you finally recognise them!). Our superior twin was on the 16th floor of the East Wing, windows facing brick walls and windows so very quiet despite being in the hub of midtown Manhattan. The bathroom was tiny, with matching towels, but clean and well equipped with toiletries. We had two incredibly ... Read more

I recently stayed at this hotel for a 5 day trip with my family. This hotel is in the perfect location it's about halfway between Times Square and Central Park and there is a subway station right outside the door so if you want to go downtown you could be there in 20 minutes. Location on 54th and 7th is perfect for all the attractions however hotel is a bit dated. Our double room on the 25th floor was quite small. The only good thing about this hotel was the location, check in staff were blunt and unhelpful during check in. Rooms incredibly old and small, I'm 6'3 and could barely fit in the shower or bath. I hate moaning about hotels or here but it really just wasn't very nice, yes it was cheap but I honestly would stay here again!! I'm surprised at some of the good reviews on here as really unsure if they were staying in the same hotel!!

You can't beat the location of the hotel, it's the perfect base for sight seeing in New York. It's clean and comfortable but quite dated. The room could definitely use a facelift, especially the rattling/noisy air conditioner and dingy lighting. Free Wifi would have been appreciated. Rooms are quite small, but we did get a complimentary upgrade from a standard room to a queen room upon check-in which was a nice surprise. Stayed in a suite and considering the size, I was pretty disappointed. It was just ok for a family of 4 !! It consisted of 2 small bedrooms with a common bathroom. Guess this is normal for New York. The entrance to the subway is located right outside the hotel and this along with the location of the hotel is probably why it is still surviving today. Traveling with another couple we found a 2 bedroom apartment at the Wellington. Located centrally only 5 min walk from Time Square we loved the atmosphere while also able to take time out in between expeditions. Clean, tidy, quiet & private. Microwave, fridge & electric kettle avail but no crockery, cutlery, or tea/coffee supplies. Sadly this omission influenced a 4 not 5 point rating from me. I travel to a different state three weeks a month. I've been in all 50 states. I've been to NYC multiple times and have stayed all over. I picked this because a friend told me of the history, the movies and it being one of the oldest hotels here and it was "'doable'" but, nothing fancy (I typically stay in Marriott's all the time and have stayed at all in the city) This hotel was VERY CRAMPED from the small crazy lobby and check in with the wildest way to funnel people to the front. when I got t... Room clean, comfortable and quiet. Staff very unfriendly and miserable like everyone else in New York. The food in the attached diner was horrible. Be really careful in the local luggage shops. I purchased a small suitcase and they took $550 off my card. Thankfully I looked at my receipt and threatened to call the police until I got a refund. I got most of it back. Also almost got robbed in Times Square.

This hotel is in a very good location, minutes walk from Times Square and plenty of attractions and restaurants within walking distance. The room we stayed in was fine, bathroom was small and dark but clean enough. The ac has to be on 24hours due to the heat and humidity but it is very loud and right next to the bed. The staff were not the friendliest but we had minimal interaction with them so nothing to comment on really. I wouldn't stay at the hotel again but it was fine for the price we paid... Read more

The location is perfect let's make that as a start, but the staff are not too helpful bordering on rude. The room is old and very tired with an air con unit that sounds like a jet plane taking off. The bathroom is low by motel standards. Make alternative arrangements unless you booked last minute like us!

The Wellington Hotel must have been one of the most impressive accommodations in New York when it opened in the 1920s and its current owners are trying hard to make the most of its traditions. The lobby area is decorated in updated 1920s style with reproductions of the art of the period and the rooms, while very comfortable, are also furnished with that period in mind. In addition to the excellent location and the relatively low cost, there are other features that make the Wellington a better ... Read more

Bath accessories such as shampoo, conditioner, and lotions are made in China, which is the first time I've come across this so quality is not there there. No slippers and not robes. Great spot to stay which is in the middle of everywhere. Friendly staff. Rooms clean. Rooms a bit dated but still a pleasure to stay there. Has a Greek restaurant, a great coffee shop and a small gift shop.

If you want to stay in a small room with an even smaller bathroom, pay for wi-fi (yes, in this hotel you'll have to pay for internet), cope with grumpy employees, and pay as you were staying at a five stars hotel, then Wellington is perfect! The only thing I can highlight is the location.

This hotel is clean, comfortable and located in a perfect area for all buses, shopping etc. This was my first visit and was upgraded to a king bed. The hotel is a little dated but pleasant staff, clean rooms and good quality toiletries make it well worth the money. I would stay here again. My only irritant was the noise from the street, with the aircon attached to the window the noise comes through rather loudly. New York is a naturally noisy city and after a long day visiting places you really ... Read more

Stayed at the Wellington for four nights in October. As per previous reviews, the rooms and building is very dated and in need of updating. That said the housekeeping staff keep the rooms very clean. The two star rating is as follows: 1:- for the location, perfect, straight out the door Central Park to your right and Times Square to your left. 2:- the bell hops/doormen are accredit to the hotel. Working very hard to get you to your room, get you to your car etc and were really helpful with sub... Read more

Have stayed here a few times now. A little more "old world charm" than the glitzier place across the street, but clean, some very spacious rooms, a great location, a nice coffee shop downstairs that serves good sandwiches for lunch or a quick early dinner before heading out for the night. While prices can be high anywhere in New York, the Wellington offers some great deals from time to time. The front desk staff is pleasant and extremely efficient.

Easy walking distance from Times Square, subway entrance right beside the hotel side entrance. It's a good value, older but well kept. I'm definitely going to consider staying there again for my next trip.

We were 4 adults and a child of 3 years old. Room 918 was perfect. Big, comfortable and clean. Two rooms inside and a small kitchen with microwave and refrigerator. Friendly staff. My only concern were the concierges. They tried all the time to give us a non official taxi. We never picked up those and use Uber or the yellow ones. Location excellent.

The location is second to none, a few blocks from Central Park and Times Square, and easy access to pretty much anywhere else you need to go. The bedrooms are small, and room service/ breakfast is very expensive, and wifi is not including, costing extra. As far as value goes, for NYC and the location it's among the best you'll probably get, I just found the wifi a big issue.

We had 4 nights at The Wellington to celebrate our daughters 18th birthday, we had a room with another one off it for our daughter, I had e mailed the hotel and asked if we could have a high room and were so pleased we were given the 27th floor.....when I opened the curtains I nearly cried the view over Central park was fantastic. After a few minutes we had a knock at the door and a man gave us a complimentary box of biscuits for Erins birthday we thought that was a lovely touch and so un expect... Read more

We stayed here for a week recently and found the location ideal, a short walk from both Central Park and Times Square, and a subway station very close by, found the room to be pretty good, large comfortable bed and very clean. The hotel in general could do with a bit of an update but we didn't have any problems. Would definitely consider staying here again if we're back in New York

This was the third time I stayed at The Wellington and I had a very pleasant week as always. The location is perfect: a short walk from Central Park, Times Square, MOMA, Apple and a subway station very close by. The room was small but cosy and warm and I had a large and comfortable bed. Would probably consider staying here again when I come back.

Very good hotel next door to Carnegie Hall, and caty-cornered to Carnegie Deli (soon to close!). Very large room, more than we expected. Includes micro, fridge, not mentioned in website. Nicely renovated. Elevator needs work. Also entrance has a removable ramp for wheelchairs or those needing assistance. Otherwise, 4 steps. Desk people very nice, but when we arrived, they gave key to bellman to escort us up "to insure the room is to our liking". (Tip.) We had 2 small bags, carry-on size, wh... Read more

This hotel was very well located (5m walk to times square) and had subway right outside. But the room is a bit worst than it showed in the pictures and it was never cleaned properly. We stayed at the 16th floor, room 1616 from 25th October to 02nd November and had no problems with bugs like others in NY do but under our bed was an empty bottle of water from the previous guests. We have just returned from a stay at The Wellington. On the plus side the location was great and the bell boys were fine. We had high hopes after looking at the photographs provided by the hotel. Our room was cleaned each day, but having looked again at the photographs provided by the hotel see why we felt disappointed. The pictures all show large well decorated rooms, with good size beds. The pillows on the bed were great--best I have had in a hotel in a long time. The bed was comfortable. I was on the 15th floor--quiet and the room was very clean. The housekeepers greeted me every day and were very quick to accommodate requests. My only comment was that WIFI should be free. $5 per hour or $x per day is way to much in this day and age. Get with it! Subway station right outside the door and very handy for commuting to and from Times Square. I will stay here again!

I booked through à BA package holiday. The location is great but the reception staff are rude, there are no tea and coffee facilities in the room (they want you to order coffee at $10 a cup), extortionate wifi fees and it could do with a refurb. I could have had a different hotel if I'd flown from Heathrow for the same package price and I would have got breakfast, tea and coffee, free wifi and a gym. We booked this hotel through Virgin holidays, as it was paired with good reviews and one of the lowest prices. I was expecting a basic, clean room, and that's what we got. The hotel decor in general is a little old fashioned. It looks like it would have been very swanky in the 1980s, maybe? But I have to say, it was all very clean and well maintained. The room was small but we were on the corner so we had two windows which made it feel more spacious. The bed was large and very comfortable. The g... Read more

The Wellington hotel at the lower end of Central Park is ideally situated for visits to the great green place yet still has the feeling of being in the heart of the big bustling city. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable and when you step out of the door there are places to eat and drink and the Avenue takes you straight down to Times Square.

Not a lot of positives about this hotel. I will start by praising the staff of the hotel, they were very polite and willing to help. Now we stayed here for our honeymoon, and yes we could have stayed somewhere a bit more glamorous, however we were of the opinion we would be out sightseeing for most of the time, so we would just need a place to put our head down for the night. From this hotel we were able to walk easily to Central Park; to 42nd Street; to restaurants. Theaters are within easy pedestrian range. For location, you can't do better.
