Excellent location for walking, catching transpo & watching people. In a sense, the locale is between The Peninsula @ 6th & The Plaza @ Central Park. Another Gotham Group Hotel, The Royalton, is just down 5th on 44th. The lobby there used to be, perhaps still is, a giant bar. The {tiny} Paramount is just 'round the corner. If you are into it, ask for the street~facing, small~ish suite on Flr 2 or 3, at The Shoreham. Decent out~ & in~house Room Service and a morning paper. The feeling is like bei... Read more

I really cannot say anything negative about this hotel, especially for the price we paid from a third party website. For a hotel room of this quality, in this location we got an amazing deal. - Rooms: Our room was on the 5th floor facing the street (55th). There was no "view" in NYC terms, but we could see the street below and had ample natural light. The room was a standard size with a bed and a long narrow desk/table with a chair beside it and a bench. More then enough space to set our thing... Read more

When you look for an affordable hotel, mid Manhattan, you surely have to take a look at the Shoreham. Be aware they charge a bail of 100$/night, which will be returned some time after you're back home. It's the time I had to pay a bail when staying in a hotel. Rooms are clean, good bed. Some of the infrastructure (like bathroom) can use some fixing and update (shower crane in our room). Breakfast is limited and comes at a price (maybe this is normal in New York). But you have lots of other optio... Read more

On arrival at the Shoreham, after a long flight, we were kept waiting and then informed that they did not have a twin room to give us. After much more waiting and the manager being called we were offered a roll away bed. My daughter is an adult so that was not great. We were shown to our room on the second floor. The rollaway bed arrived soon after. The room was so small that you would have to fold up the bed and move it every time you wanted to us the bathroom. The bathroom was the smallest... Read more

Making my first visit to NYC, I was nervous about finding the right hotel for my budget, location, and being a solo traveler. The moment I walked into Shoreham, all worries were erased and I was very pleased. I had an early morning arrival into LGA and I was concerned I couldn't get into my room before the posted check-in. I didn't grab her name, but the desk agent went above and beyond getting me into a room nearly three hours early. The location is great for Manhattan, easy access to several s... Read more

Perfect location for exploring NYC, subway is only a short walk away, though we used Uber most of our trip, or walked. You are very close to 5th Ave and all the upscale shopping and dinning locations. Central Park is also very close. Our first night we walked from the hotel down to times square and back. My only disappointment was through the booking company I used when making the reservation. Since our group was 4 I had requested 2 beds, however I had a mixup with my reservation and had to have... So this was sold to me as a 4 star hotel and I was looking to stay near the park. First I asked about an upgrade. Went up to the suite and saw it was big but it was in poor condition, the ac did not work, and the blinds have fallen out of the windows, a strange smell was experienced. Serious renovations are in order here. After a trip back to the front desk and a demand for a refund of my upgrade I was sent to my Jr suite as originally reserved. The room was much nicer than the scary suite, usua... Read more

This hotel has a really decent sized room, and the price is very reasonable, given that the location is near central park and right in the corner of 5th Avenue ! The staff are very helpful as well and value for money if you are in New York to explore around the area. Times Square isn't a far walk as well.

We ended up here because our previous vrbo didn't work out. In less than an hour we had booked and were in our room. We had a king and a futon suite. For the price it was just what we needed. And the shower was the best ever! Awesome water pressure and hot immediately. Housekeeping was very nice and attentive to detail. The doorman who wears the fedora was friendly. This hotel has a great location and nice service at the front desk. It is the rooms that are lacking. Cracked tile, missing wall hooks, dirty carpet, moldy tile, dirty windows. They really need to update and not with a coat of paint. The front desk is very helpful with questions, taxis etc.

The front desk was a bit rude, but not a big deal. Rooms are small, decor is weak, but it's the cheapest option in the neighborhood, it's clean and makes midtown easily accessible. If you need a place to crash, this isn't a bad option. Being near the elevator is a bit loud, the doors are pretty thin. Plus there is absolutely no view, so don't expect to see anything. The sheets and bedding are minimal and the bed isn't especially comfortable.

It is well-located, and the customer service at the front desk (mainly Tim, who checked me in and out, and the bellman with whom I left luggage) was quite good. I stayed at the Shoreham Hotel during June 2016. The hotel is located in a good spot in New York City & is less than a ten minute walk to Times Square. The hotel itself is a bit basic but definitely not a bad hotel. I stayed in a standard room & it was pretty average. The hotel doesn‚??t offer free WI-FI in its rooms, only in the lobby. The hotel is on 55th between 5th and 6th which is about as prime as you can get for exploring Midtown and it still manages to be fairly well priced for NYC and for the area. The room had a few scuffs but nothing to detract from the overall quality of the room. The staff were very chatty checking us in and were very helpful when we left in appalling rain. No complaints. The thing about Manhattan hotels seems to be that - unless you pay for real luxury - you get pretty basic rooms for the rates. This hotel was no exception; it's a great location for Central Park and the business (not financial) district, and is an easy subway journey down to Union Square (about a 20 minute walk to Times Sq). My wife and I spent 5 nights here during our visit to NYC. Aside from the decent location the hotel offered little else positive during our trip. We arrived early on a Thursday morning and checked our bags to go explore. Totally normal. When we came back at 1pm, 4 hours later the rooms weren't ready. We had to wait until 3pm, the company policy's check in time. I'm not usually the one to complain about this side of the hotel routine. But I think this was a bit much. To get ice you have to c... We found this hotel to be in an excellent location ,just off 5th Avenue, and close to Central Park. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was enormous and very comfortable. It was a little strange not having an actual bathroom light as the bathroom was partitioned off by opaque glass and relied on the bedroom lamps. Stylish but not very practical for putting on makeup, doing hair etc, but this is a small quibble. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was very hot complimentary coffee se... Read more

On arrival we found the hotel staff friendly and welcoming. Our room, which was situated on the fourth floor was quiet, clean and comfortable. There was no view from the window but that wasn't a problem as we only used the room to sleep in. The bed was very comfortable after a busy day sight seeing. It's not a luxury hotel but if you are using it as a base for sightseeing, as we were, it's ideal as you don't spend much time in the hotel. There are no tea/ coffee facilities in the room but you... Stayed here for a week. The hotel as described in other reviews is in need of some updating - shabby is a good word for the decor in the hallways and bedrooms. The type of room we had was at the back of the hotel with views directly into other rooms and so we had the blind closed the whole time. There was also considerable noise from ventilation/ air conditioners. They moved us on request to a higher floor but couldn't move us to a front facing room. The rooms were very clean and the bathroom fa... Read more

I have just checked out of the shoreham after a three night stay booked with Booking.com. I was excited to be staying there given its location and how it portrays itself. I booked a Queen room which was impressive going by the description, however upon arrival I was less than impressed. Tiny shoe box of a room which was in real need of some TLC and a deep clean. Housekeeping didnt do a great job over the 3 nights leaving Candy wrappers on the desk and even a room service tray (with dirty dish... Read more

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. We were upgraded for free to suite room - two very big rooms. The big disadvantageiss the small bath room and the top of it the very tiny sink - I really don't know what ran in the mind of the man who planned the rooms. The hotel's location is the best - near the Times square, Centeral Park and the 5th ave. The hotel is very clean and stuff at the front desk were very helpful. There is a very good coffee machine in the lobby that makes espersso, cappuccino etc.... Read more

This place is great, I stayed for business but saw families there vacationing, the location is perfect for any type of stay. I expected a smaller room but was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room, you get a safe in the closet, a separate desk and seating area, and a bench at the end of the bed but there is still plenty of room to move around. The room stays frigid just like I prefer, I had a nice big bathroom, got a great night's sleep each night, and the internet is quick and works with... Read more

On a short stay back in the City, my friend surprised me with this hotel. Living in the City, I had not known of it but was pleasantly surprised! The sleek, modern atrium suite was nicely appointed, and the giant step up and in bathtub jacuzzi was very relaxing. A great little weekend stay!

Stopped here for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cheerful and helpful reception staff who sorted any problems we encountered. Also the friendly barman whose name I didn't get (giants fan) looked like he enjoyed his job. Rooms were excellent and a decent size, only complaint no tea or coffee but there is excellent free beverages in the lobby, the French vanilla coffee tastes fantastic. All in all definitely would recommend it and would not hesitate in staying there again

Enjoyed a 6 night break at the Shoreham. The room was a good size and very comfortable. The staff we all very friendly and helpful. We did not eat in the hotel but the free coffee in the morning was a nice touch. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of Central Park, Times Square, Broadway theatres and several subway stations. Only drawback is lack of free Wi-Fi in the rooms.

I am not sure how stars are allocated. The rooms need a definite refresh, toilets are so tiny one cannot move inside nor put cosmetics on the sink table, closet is tiny with no shelves, wifi in the rooms is paid for (does it still exist??) and our room 309 is by the elevator and has a full time engine humming noise. Bottom line value for money is not good... On the positive side location is very good, decent modern lobby, free coffee in the lobby (though one machine out of 2 has been out of orde... Read more

Stayed in the Shoreham Hotel, absolutely loved it, not to far from times sq, Central Park 10 min walk. The hotel was clean and well kept. Service was excellent. Booked a car to take us to Newark Airport and we got a white Limo!!!!!. Would definitely recommend a diner called the stardust, where the waiters and waitresses sing broadway songs totally amazing but go early as the queue after 5 is round the corner! also the food is good. Wifi free in lobby, not in room.

We stayed at the Shoreham for 4 nights and the best I can say is that it was ok. The first night we realized after getting into bed was that the bottom sheet did not reach the end of the mattress! The second morning we realized our TV was not working. Not really a big deal but we like to listen to the news and weather in the morning. We reported the sheet and TV issue to the front desk and they said it would be taken care of. Front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were ... Read more

Stayed at this hotel for four days while staying in New York. The hotel is in a great location, just five minutes work from Rockerfeller and Centre and about fifteen to twenty minutes walk from Times Square, with Central Park being just round the corner. I have never written a review for any hotel before, but i felt compelled to write one for the shoreham. This was honestly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Upon arrival, there was no one there to park our care. Once we finally found someone they were not very helpful. The hotel itself is very outdated and run down. The room was just as bad. The bed was concaved in the middle. When I would roll over I would slip into the middle of the bed. There were holes in the wall in the bathroom. The ro... Read more

The Shoreham is located in a great place. The room was nice and modern. But the staff is somewhere between rude to antipathetic. Certainly no smile was seen in the reception. 4 stars hotel with no complimentary water in the room. And internet connection costs nearly US$15. Have not seen that lately around the world. The staff is really the biggest negative. Since there are many options, and the price is not really very competitive, it is hard to recommend.

The hotel room was ample for the two of us, we found it very clean and modern- although the air con unit buttons do need looking at. Originally I was a little nervous about staying at this hotel. I have seen bad reviews and was horrified of risking my 7 day stay at a poor hotel. Gabriel Rodriguez and the hotel staff made it great! The beds were a little stiff, room felt a little dated and there are some cosmetic things that should be fixed. But all in all I was happy I gave this hotel a shot. The employees definitely exceeded the hotel by a long shot. Proper staffing does go a long way and Shoreham has done that.

There were good things and then there were surprising things. The good - location is wonderful for seeing NYC. The bed was very comfortable. the room was clean. The surprising - the elevator was about the size of a phone booth! Smallest one I've ever been in. The bathroom is smaller than one on a cruise ship. Happily I'm a petite woman so it wasn't an issue for me, but had my husband been with me, I don't think he could have gone in and closed the door! On Friday night, there were cookie... Read more
