Excellent location for walking, catching transpo & watching people. In a sense, the locale is between The Peninsula @ 6th & The Plaza @ Central Park. Another Gotham Group Hotel, The Royalton, is just down 5th on 44th. The lobby there used to be, perhaps still is, a giant bar. The {tiny} Paramount is just 'round the corner. If you are into it, ask for the street~facing, small~ish suite on Flr 2 or 3, at The Shoreham. Decent out~ & in~house Room Service and a morning paper. The feeling is like bei... Read more

I really cannot say anything negative about this hotel, especially for the price we paid from a third party website. For a hotel room of this quality, in this location we got an amazing deal. - Rooms: Our room was on the 5th floor facing the street (55th). There was no "view" in NYC terms, but we could see the street below and had ample natural light. The room was a standard size with a bed and a long narrow desk/table with a chair beside it and a bench. More then enough space to set our thing... Read more

When you look for an affordable hotel, mid Manhattan, you surely have to take a look at the Shoreham. Be aware they charge a bail of 100$/night, which will be returned some time after you're back home. It's the time I had to pay a bail when staying in a hotel. Rooms are clean, good bed. Some of the infrastructure (like bathroom) can use some fixing and update (shower crane in our room). Breakfast is limited and comes at a price (maybe this is normal in New York). But you have lots of other optio... Read more

On arrival at the Shoreham, after a long flight, we were kept waiting and then informed that they did not have a twin room to give us. After much more waiting and the manager being called we were offered a roll away bed. My daughter is an adult so that was not great. We were shown to our room on the second floor. The rollaway bed arrived soon after. The room was so small that you would have to fold up the bed and move it every time you wanted to us the bathroom. The bathroom was the smallest... Read more

Making my first visit to NYC, I was nervous about finding the right hotel for my budget, location, and being a solo traveler. The moment I walked into Shoreham, all worries were erased and I was very pleased. I had an early morning arrival into LGA and I was concerned I couldn't get into my room before the posted check-in. I didn't grab her name, but the desk agent went above and beyond getting me into a room nearly three hours early. The location is great for Manhattan, easy access to several s... Read more

Perfect location for exploring NYC, subway is only a short walk away, though we used Uber most of our trip, or walked. You are very close to 5th Ave and all the upscale shopping and dinning locations. Central Park is also very close. Our first night we walked from the hotel down to times square and back. My only disappointment was through the booking company I used when making the reservation. Since our group was 4 I had requested 2 beds, however I had a mixup with my reservation and had to have... So this was sold to me as a 4 star hotel and I was looking to stay near the park. First I asked about an upgrade. Went up to the suite and saw it was big but it was in poor condition, the ac did not work, and the blinds have fallen out of the windows, a strange smell was experienced. Serious renovations are in order here. After a trip back to the front desk and a demand for a refund of my upgrade I was sent to my Jr suite as originally reserved. The room was much nicer than the scary suite, usua... Read more

This hotel has a really decent sized room, and the price is very reasonable, given that the location is near central park and right in the corner of 5th Avenue ! The staff are very helpful as well and value for money if you are in New York to explore around the area. Times Square isn't a far walk as well.

We ended up here because our previous vrbo didn't work out. In less than an hour we had booked and were in our room. We had a king and a futon suite. For the price it was just what we needed. And the shower was the best ever! Awesome water pressure and hot immediately. Housekeeping was very nice and attentive to detail. The doorman who wears the fedora was friendly. All these little things add up. There were several cons but not enough to make a huge difference for me. I'll list them in case t... Read more

This hotel has a great location and nice service at the front desk. It is the rooms that are lacking. Cracked tile, missing wall hooks, dirty carpet, moldy tile, dirty windows. They really need to update and not with a coat of paint. The front desk is very helpful with questions, taxis etc.

The front desk was a bit rude, but not a big deal. Rooms are small, decor is weak, but it's the cheapest option in the neighborhood, it's clean and makes midtown easily accessible. If you need a place to crash, this isn't a bad option. Being near the elevator is a bit loud, the doors are pretty thin. Plus there is absolutely no view, so don't expect to see anything. The sheets and bedding are minimal and the bed isn't especially comfortable.

The room was clean It's within a walking distance to didn't like the bathroom very much because there was space to hang only one towel (we were 3) and no space for cosmetics on the sink. Stayed here for just one night, and found the property a disappointment. It is well-located, and the customer service at the front desk (mainly Tim, who checked me in and out, and the bellman with whom I left luggage) was quite good. I stayed at the Shoreham Hotel during June 2016. The hotel is located in a good spot in New York City & is less than a ten minute walk to Times Square. The hotel itself is a bit basic but definitely not a bad hotel. I stayed in a standard room & it was pretty average. The hotel doesn‚??t offer free WI-FI in its rooms, only in the lobby. The hotel is on 55th between 5th and 6th which is about as prime as you can get for exploring Midtown and it still manages to be fairly well priced for NYC and for the area. The room had a few scuffs but nothing to detract from the overall quality of the room. The staff were very chatty checking us in and were very helpful when we left in appalling rain. No complaints. The thing about Manhattan hotels seems to be that - unless you pay for real luxury - you get pretty basic rooms for the rates. This hotel was no exception; it's a great location for Central Park and the business (not financial) district, and is an easy subway journey down to Union Square (about a 20 minute walk to Times Sq). The website made the hotel look very modern on the website and it wasn't quite as it seemed. It was nice enough but the rooms were very cramped and small and also a little dirty.
