The Hilton has been there since the late 1960s, my colleague David Brinkley stayed there often. This is a functional hotel across from the Radio City Music Hall. The lobby and breakfast room are sterile. So, what's the deal? You are a short walk to the theater district, 30 Rock or Central Park. The entire city is close-by. I was a kid in the Writers Guild East (20 years old) and working at NBC Nightly News. You wanted to get invited there after work, and I was!!

It was very disappointed once we arrived hotel, we arrived at hotel around 21:00 and the room was not ready yet! It's increditable! How come the room still not yet ready until 9pm!! I reserved for 44th floor, but they told me only left 34th floor and it still needed to check it out! After half hour the hotel gave us 24th floor! What a wonderful! We have been changed from 44 to 24! It's very very disappointed! While we were waiting our room, we needed to store our luggages the bell man is not the... Read more

Located on the Avenue of the Americas at 53rd Street, the NY Hilton Midtown is a good spot convenient for business meetings in surrounding areas, as well as the vacation traveler. Lobby is very busy and a bit noisy, but the hotel is fairly modern, and clean, and for a business traveler, quiet. I wish there was additional security (ie: do not allow elevators to work without a room key - for a single woman traveling, it is a bit disconcerting to know anyone can walk in and board an elevator). The best thing about this hotel is its location, otherwise, it's a hotel relying on the Hilton name and pretending to be something that it isn't. It isn't a luxury hotel, although it charges luxury prices. Service is average. Some staff are extremely friendly, others are surly. We recently spent two nights at the hotel in a room on the 13th floor. The bedroom was very large (great), offset by a relatively small bathroom (shower over bath) with essentially no bench space for your toiletries etc.... Read more

I stayed a the hotel while attending a conference on the premises. First and foremost, the location is excellent; very central for everything we wanted to do, accessible for police transport, and great for runs in Central Park. The rooms and services were very good, and the service from the staff top notch. Prices are what one would expect from a Hilton in the middle of New York!

No coffee available in the room or in the lobby without paying. Drink selection in the "Executive Lounge" on the lobby floor was very limited selections of wine and beer only and THEY EXPECTED YOU TO PAY FOR IT on top of paying additional to have "Executive Lounge" privileges. Have never seen that in a hotel from this chain and will never stay here again.

Quick and easy check-in with mobile app. Clean and comfortable room. Several of the rooms feature sofa sleepers and if you need to use that feature you might have to wait for sheets, since they do not stock rooms with them and the housekeeping staff seems to be running behind at times with this service. Convenient sundry shop and quick service food counter available in lobby. Easy subway access and walking distance to many theaters and other attractions.

The location is great. Easy walking distance to Central Park, the Museum of Modern Art, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Plaza, Carnegie Hall, Times Square, Broadway theaters, etc, etc. The staff was helpful and friendly (not a given in NYC). The conference facilities were good. Like other reviewers, I had some issues with the WiFi. My pet peeve though was no in-room coffee maker. We went because of an exceptional deal. We normally do not stay in such hotels. The hotel is huge > 1000 rooms. We waited 15 minutes for an elevator, 20 minutes for bagage storage (Be prepared, $3 per item), and another 20 minutes for baggage claim. The breakfast, however, was good. Lots of Salmon

This hotel has a great location in mid town. It's very big catering to conferences. We took one of the recent upgraded rooms which is located on a lower floor. The room was very nice and the hotel staff was top notch. The only negative I was accosted by a street person inside the hotel next to the elevator who asked me for money.

This is the 5th time I've stayed and this time not on business. I booked primarily due to the location and gym which are great (fully equipped with techno gym equipment, weights and stretching kit) however the plus points end there. I think in future I would stay elsewhere as it's a very expensive hotel given the nickel and diming and lack of extras. This feels like an accountant has decided to cut costs without thinking of customer impact. Negative points are: - No tea or coffee facilities ... Read more

A lot has changed in 13 months, both good and bad. I found two very good restaurants in the area, which are much cheaper than dining in the hotel. One was Rue 57, a three block walk down Ave. of the Americas, towards Central Park. They have a great $17 brioche French Toast breakfast that includes juice and coffee. The restaurant is very nice. Closer to the hotel, across 54th St, is Faces and Names. Yes, it's a strange name, but the food is excellent. If you must eat at the hotel, I recomm... Read more

A few blocks North from Times Square, Hilton Midtown is near Radio City and some great places to eat. The Herb & Kitchen hot breakfast buffet was awesome... smoked salmon, eggs, bacon, sausage, dumplings, congee, noodles and an omelet bar in addition to the standard cold continental stuff. If you don't feel like going out there are a few bars inside the hotel itself including a minus5 frozen bar. We have stayed at this very favorably located Midtown hotel from time to time over many decades. We like the Hilton brand, are owners at Hilton Grand Vacations Club at W 57th Street, and are Gold hHonors for life. For this hotel, there have always been certain things that keep it from being a top Manhattan venue. In the past, they had the dreariest dining area in the basement, which they finally corrected with a very pleasant space on the first level, Herb & Kitchen. The full breakfast buffet is... Read more

Staying here is like staying in a very busy hectic transit station. On arrival you pull up to two huge empty dirty areas out front which are unused commercial spaces with huge "for lease" posters taped on the dirty windows. Then you pass a cheap and nasty-looking ice vodka bar. Then into the foyer which is normally packed with people in queues or standing around (there are no seats in the big main area - it kind of sums the place up that they don't prioritise the guests' comfort on arrival) and... The location was great for sightseeing in Midtown. Valet parking is on the premises. We were in a standard room and it was basic with fairly new décor. Great walk-in shower. No tub. The room did not have a coffee maker or refrigerator although the cabinetry design was evidence that those items used to be a part of the room. This was our hotel of choice for many years while visiting New York. The location is good. However they no longer have coffee pots in the rooms and no room service. You need to go downstairs to coffee shop. The other change is the executive level hospitality room. It was previously on a high floor with great full bar and bar tender. Now on lobby floor and wine and beer dispensed from a machine. The night time snacks and morning breakfast also now a disappointment.

I used the post service to receive mail and it was incredibly effective. The apartment was just gorgeous, with two rooms and a living area. It was always immaculate and had fantastic views. Best of all was the location and its proximity to the park and other sites. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We were there Christmas week. This is a big Hilton but not a luxury high end Hilton. I would explore the Hilton Garden Inns instead. Pros: Clean large room, location and price. Cons: Lousy mattresses, old bathroom, not enough on-site food choices/restaurants.

We stayed here as a result of a conference we attended and we were beyond disappointed around every turn. No coffee machine in the room, no refrigerator, no restaurant besides an overpriced breakfast buffet/brunch ($45 per adult)- NO DINNER. There is a lousy store they try to pull off as a restaurant with nothing but 7-11 convenience store quality hot dogs, turkey clubs, pizza (you must stand there in a sea of people and wait for it for 25 minutes)- nothing moves quickly and service is atrocious... Enjoy staying at this hotel.. Wish that they would go back to having a nice restaurant for dinner. Their Herb Kitchen does not do it. The executive lounge is a nice treat but it will be soon close if people would realize that the food put out for everyone isn't for people to make a meal of it. It is merely for appetizers. It is such a nice treat especially at the end of a long day.

Last year, we stayed in this hotel for 8 nights and found it wanting. It was under construction, one elevator was broken and the Executive Lounge was always jammed. This year, everything was better. Front entrance, elevators and lounge were all much improved. Nice location on 6th Ave, just blocks from Central Park. We spent another 8 nights there this year and came away pleased.

We were greeted by the doormen who promptly helped with our luggage. Check in was a breeze, no long lines and we were issued our keycards quickly. I'm attending an 800+ person convention here, running five simultaneous sessions and everything is well accommodated on their 2nd floor complex. The rooms are nice and housekeeping is great. My one complaint is the absence of a good restaurant in the hotel. The location is one of the prime, close to all iconic places. The rooms are clean and comfortable, rooms are spacious comparing with other hotels in Manhattan. If you don't expect personal service, this can be your right place. You should know that the hotel is big and too crowded during high season. The lobby and the elevators are not the places you want to be around. My overall experience was good, no complaints.

Just arrived, some staff better than others. Made to feel like an inconvenience rather than guest. Room seemed ok at first look but bath tub had hair in it and the light switch is absolutely disgusting with who knows what. To top it off when we first laid in the bed the sheets were dirty and smelled bad. Absolutely unacceptable... we are regretting booking at this hotel.

I avoided the Hilton Midtown for the past year due to poor service at the front counter on my last visit, taking over one hour to check me in (only one person working the counter). Instead, I've been staying at a local boutique hotel which I enjoyed much more. However, a recent conference at the Midtown led me to book for three days. Checking in was no faster: it took 25 minutes from entering the door to getting my key, and while there were four people at the checkin counter, they spent more ... Read more

The hotel rooms are fairly average and quite compact and like every other Hilton I have stayed at apart from they have no tea & coffee making facilities here.
