My husband and I have stayed at the Lucerne Hotel on the upper West Side of Manhattan numerous times. We have also recommended it to friends who loved it as much as we do. It is a charming hotel that is architecturally beautiful. It is quiet elegance. The lobby is so inviting with its large comfortable chairs and antique decor. The manager is a delightful man, and the staff is excellent in providing outstanding customer service. The beauty of this hotel is that it is in one of the loveliest... Read more

We arrived in New York tired from a long days travel only to be told it would be 4pm before we could check in. Tired and in need of sleep we had to fill in four hours before the room was ready. When we finally got the room there was no fridge and no bottled water unless you paid $6.75 US. If there had of been water the was no way to keep it cold. There was no coffee maker and the TV from the room next door was easily heard and it was not up loud. That night someone next door was snoring and agai... Read more

I normally don't review hotels. Typically, the accomodations are "fine" and the nature of the place is just what I would expect. I want, however, to call out the Lucerne Hotel for being helpful when I needed it. I arrived the other day with a reservation in hand -- only to find that the reservation (which had been made for me by my client) was for the wrong day -- the evening before I arrived. It was 1030 PM, I was tired, and the hotel was full. It looked ugly -- but the Lucerne came throu... Read more

There aren't many options on UWS and the location is fabulous! Rooms are small, yes, but not terribly small by NYC standards- space is a hot commodity in the city that never sleeps. Lobby is nice but small. One elevator was broken. Rooms are tired, smell musty and seem circa 1980. But they are clean which is a huge plus. Beds are very comfortable. AC worked great. Forgot tooth paste and they sent up the tiniest tube I have ever seen. No mini bar in room? That was a disappointment but they did... Read more

As other reviewers have said. This is a clean and classy hotel away from madness of Times Square and Theatre District. Liz the Concierge was great. Staff was accommodating. Door man did amazing job packing luggage in car upon departure. Close to subway, great local grocery market and many delis and restaurants. Wonderful value. We will return. We are from Texas and did not bring warm enough clothes for a NYC March.

The staff is amazing, and the rooms are very large for a NY hotel. The neighborhood has a great mix of restaurants and is not at all "touristy". It is very close to the park, the museum of natural history, and Lincoln Center. The subway is at the end of the block, which is a big bonus. This is our second stay here and will be back again at the end of the month highly recommend The Lucerne!

This small hotel is well located on the UWS. Rooms are clean and nicely furnished if a bit on the small side, but this is Manhattan after all. Baths ditto - small but clean and certainly adequate. I like counter space and this hotel bath provides that. Relatively quiet - ask for an upper floor, of course. No coffee maker in room but you can request one. All in all, satisfactory for price, location, and cleanliness. Free wifi is nice.

We loved the Lucerne Hotel. It has spacious rooms with an old school NYC decor. The staff is simply outstanding. It is located in a great, quiet neighbourhood with a subway station down the block. There is a terrific deli (Amsterdam Deli) on the corner and a nice restaurant (Coppola's) across the street. There is also a 24 hour (Duane Reade) store, and news stand near by. Hotel is quite dated but clean. There are some good places to eat around and a close walk to Central Park. Also close to the subway which is really useful. The Lucerne is a lovely red-brick building in the Upper West Side, perfectly sandwiched between the gorgeous green of Riverside Park and Central Park and surrounded by so many dining and shopping choices the mind reels. I stayed at the Lucerne for three nights in mid-July and found the experience exactly what I was looking for. The hotel is small, very clean, and has one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! While it was softer than what I have at home, which made me a bit nervous about how well I would sleep, I shouldn't have worried. Lovely boutique hotel, nice spacious rooms, loads of Restaurants and bars in walking distance. A lovely quiet location away from the noise of Times Square, yet only a $10 uber away. Upper West Side is a lovely location, friendly free and safe. Fab location for NYC visit.

A totally uninteresting lobby. Helpful personal. Large, well-appointed, quiet room except for the air conditioner which was noisier than it should be. A good location near the American Museum of Natural History and Central Park, numerous mid-range restaurants and just a block from the subway an on a major east-west bus route. Unfortunately, the subway station is serviced by only one line and is a local stop making movement around the city by subway slower than if near a major station. Wond... Read more

The location of the Lucerne is perfect. On the Upper West Side it is quiet yet convenient. We walked two blocks to Central Park and the subway was just a block away. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable with a refrigerator and coffee maker. Not much counter space in the bathroom which is inconvenient. Staff was friendly and helpful and the restaurant attached to the hotel, Nice Marten, was great.

After an appalling experience at our previous hotel in London (Royal Horseguards - including a weak evasive management response) this hotel is the polar opposite. Everything works, rooms have views, staff are helpful and responsive, services - laundry, room, housekeeping - operate efficiently and are fairly priced, Location is perfect for Historical Society, Met, Frick, etc and restaurants.

I haven't stayed at the Lucerne probably for the last ten years. No reason why, other than I wanted to explore other areas of the city. I went back last Saturday and I can report that it still remains a great hotel. Wonderful location, extremely accommodating staff, and fair and reasonable rate. From experience, I did request a room on a higher floor, plus one that wasn't facing Amsterdam Avenue. The reason being that Amsterdam can stay noisy deep into the night.

It's a decent hotel, would stay there again. Not luxurious, but clean. Good location, between broadway and Amsterdam. Convenient shopping nearby (DWS, Marshalls, Bolton's, Sephora, and others). Free wi-fi.

Very well located, close to Central Park. We asked for a room on a high floor and far from the elevator which was a good idea to avoid the noise from the street. However construction is going on just next door.

I travel to NYC for business and the Lucerne Hotel is my home away from home. I prefer a King Room because they are generally more quiet. The room are lovely and spacious. The hotel is very clean. The adjacent restaurant is wonderful.

Just returned from a 3-nite stay at the Lucerne. My wife raved about the updated bathroom. It really makes a difference. Comfortable beds and a very good cool/heating system that was easy to use and did not make a lot of on/off noise. The Nice-Matin restaurant (attached to the hotel) was our favorite place to start and end the day. Great breakfast and a perfect place for an end of day drink. Location-wise: we could not have been happier. If you want to wake up in a neighborhood with "loc... Read more

We had a suite on the eighth floor, and loved it. It was quiet and spacious with a great view of NY street life on Columbus Avenue. Very comfortable sitting room as well. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.

This was always one of my favorite places to stay in New York when my son was at Columbia. I always liked being so close to Central Park and in the relatively quiet upper west side. I also like staying in a small, peaceful hotel -- the opposite of the big ones in and near Times Square. The service is very nice and personal -- the staff even remembers who you are from day to day, and the cozy restaurant Nice Matin is attached to the lobby. We got a good rate so went back for a few days. It's ju... Read more

I stayed at The Lucerne for a week in October with my mum and sister for a week and found it to be a great base to explore the city. The hotel is perfectly situated for getting the subway with the 123 line running less than a minutes walk away providing connections all over the city, it is about 30 mins walk to Times Square and 5 mins to Central Park so is in a really good location. In terms of the rooms, we booked a suite and it was a brilliant size, had a separate lounge/kitchen area and 2 la... Read more

I stayed there from 11/1/16 to 11/3/16. They put me in Room 201, which has a lovely view of an airshaft and no natural light day or night. Little traffic noise, but some from construction in the building next door. On the other hand, the room was of decent size, something not true of many of this hotel's rooms. The hotel is connected to Nice-Matin, an excellent French bistro. Room Service prices are fairly reasonable, but why the $6.50 charge for a bottle of water? When I checked in, I ask... Read more

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Being there for a week I was able to get a coffee maker and fridge in my room with no charge (I requested in advance) which made my trip even more Fantastic. The location was Supreme subway, Central Park, and Museum, places to eat if not a block, less than a block away. The staff were nice and helpful. Mr. Pierre the doorman and Mr. Michael the Concierge were Exceptional, THANK YOU gentlemen!!!!. I traveled alone and I felt Very Safe staying here.

The Lucerne is a well-situated Upper West Side hotel, close to the Subway and Central Park, and with a number of restaurants, coffee shops, bars (and tailors) very close by. The decor is dated but the rooms are clean and well-enough appointed. We stayed as part of a package for the 2016 Marathon so prices were distorted but we booked an additional night and the price was appropriate for what we got. As is often the case in the USA we were initially allocated to a poor room, at a low level with... Read more

The hotel is neat clean and worthy of a 4* badge. Very centrally located with close transport, eateries, and things to do. We stayed for three nights, were put on the second floor but the traffic noise was horrendous so we requested a higher floor and got moved to the 8th floor which was far better..

As me and my husband would be celebrating our 1 year anniversary we decided to do it in style by visiting NYC. I found this hotel on booking.com. the reviews on b.com and TA were mostly positive so I went ahead and booked. The hotel is beautiful inside and we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff (throughout our visit we felt all staff were friendly and helpful) we got to our room and instantly I was happy. The bellmen are fantastic. The location is great, very quiet and convenient. I highly recommend breakfast down the road at Barney Greengrass or across the street at Irving Farm. The room was very clean and the staff is attentive. I would definitely stay again.

The Lucerne is a great find. We stayed at this property with our 13 and 16 year-old daughters over Thanksgiving weekend and we found it exceptionally clean, quiet, and superbly located for all of the NYC things we wanted to see and do. An easy cab ride to the theater, shopping, and sightseeing. The room was well-appointed, very clean, the water hot (and pressure great) in the shower. From Gemma at the front desk to the bellman at the front door, the staff were professional, helpful, and frie... Read more

I wish I had known about The Lucerne during my previous trip to NYC. The hotel is in a great location. I was close to the subway, Central Park, and a plethora of shops, stores, and delis. The hotel has an elegance to it; the decor is very traditional but tasteful. The doormen are attentive and polite. The rooms are average in size but amazingly quiet. I never heard any street noise or hotel neighbor noise. Although, there was quite a bit of construction noise from 8am to about 6pm. Fair ... Read more

The rooms are dated but very clean. We stayed in summer, so we probably paid more than average, and didn't think it was worth the price. The air conditioning didn't work at all on one of the nights we were there, so we barely slept since it was so hot. The hotel was fully booked so there wasn't much to be done about it. The staff were very variable in their knowledge of hotel policies, and at one stage called us in our room because they had lost our booking. They took a deposit for each night in... Read more
