My sister & her now husband were married in the hotel. Many of her friends and family stayed in this hotel during the days around the wedding. Staff were all friendly, accommodating, polite and educated (meaning properly instructed how to treat guests). Rooms were clean and classy with bottled water and chocolates provided for guests. We found the hotel rooms to be very quiet and beds were supportive and comfortable. The downstairs lobby was the perfect place to meet friends, have a coffee (Star... Read more

My son and I stayed for 3 nights, and we were very pleased with the hotel. The room was comfortable and clean. The bed was good and the bed linens were fantastic. We didn't eat here, but the bar in the rear of the hotel was nice. Comfy chairs, good service. In general, the staff was pleasant and accommodating. We arrived at 9:00am after an exhausting morning of travel and they checked us in right away. One employee, Patrick, was great. Super friendly and upbeat. Each night he gave us wonderful r... I had a pleasant enough stay at the Smyth however events after my stay have really overshadowed my experience. I booked through Expedia and paid in full prior to my stay. The Smyth charged me twice at the conclusion of my stay. Having read other reviews, I see I am not the only one. I have sent numerous emails seeking a full refund each of which has gone unanswered. Appalling customer service and I won't be staying there again. I am still waiting for my full refund.

I recently recommended friends from Toronto to stay here on the second weekend of May. They booked to rooms and totally fell in love with the hotel and it's surroundings! They also wanted to acknowledge Adriel-Luis, the hotel engineer who went out of his way to recommend what lower Manhattan has to offer. Thanks for making them feel welcome!

The service and hospitality from the moment we arrived to the moment we left was outstanding and topped anything I have experienced and I have stayed in the top hotel around the world. The Smyth is a medium sized hotel in a purpose designed building in Tribeca. It is within walking distance of the major sites in lower Manhatten (Wall Street, World Trade Center etc). The hotel is well managed, the rooms spacious and comfortable and the hotel bars and restaurants very welcoming. Good for both business or tourism visits.

Just finished 4 nights at the Smyth for business. Overall it is a great hotel for those people not looking to stay in the heart of shopping and tourist districts. Location wise you are in the heart of TriBeCa with several great restaurants and cafes minutes walk away. Meatpacking and the Financial District are all very close by. Subway directly outside the hotel. The one thing to point out is that it is up to 30mins away from midtown and Central Park by taxi so for anyone looking to shop or se... Read more

Free newspapers daily at your door. the staff is incredible. Friendly, without the tiniest bit of NY attitude. Just really helpful and nice. I stayed with my parents in a mid-sized room in facing towards West Broadway, we wanted to try something else than midtown, and I can say the hotel is located in an awesome area with tons of restaurants nearby and three blocks from the 9/11 memorial. The part I enjoyed the most was the restaurant next to the lobby, the Little Park is a delicious gourmet style restaurant offering great choices of fine dining.

My group had an amazing time in this upscale, clean hotel. The location in Tribecca is perfect being steps away from a subway station & a close walk to desirable locations such as SoHo. As well, Eddie the concierge was extremely accommodating and helped make our trip a ton of fun!! 5 star service & 5 star location.

I stayed with my husband and son in the Smyth Hotel for four nights. We have been there a couple of times before, so needless to say we really like this hotel. The staff is great and very friendly. The hotel room and beds are perfect and I really like the design of the rooms and the hotel. Feels a little bit like home and that is what you want. Location in Tribeca is nice. It's just a short walk to Battery Park or Soho.

This place is newish. The rooms are sizable for NYC standard and bed is extremely comfy for my liking. The lounge bar is very cozy. Ground zero is 5mins on foot. Do check out the Whole Foods which is a couple blocks away. It is amazing! Staffs at the hotel are very friendly. This hotel is really close to everything you want to see in downtown.

Low key and upscale, in a fantastic neighborhood. Close to many bars and restaurants. I loved this hotel because not only for the interior but for the location. I loved that I felt like I was part of the neighborhood, rather than another tourist in Times Sq. Rooms were average size for NYC, and the hotel is also quite small. But made it all the more cozy.

With just the basics - location, room size/comfort and amenities, the Smyth Thompson in Tribeca is a fantastic place to stay while visiting New York. I recently spent a week there and couldn't ask for a better spot. Access to the subway is right outside the front doors and the variety of restaurants, bars and things to see and do (neighbours the new World Trade Centre and the WTC Memorial) made it the perfect spot. The room was clean and the service fantastic, always checking in to make sure ... Read more

It's pretty much as described on reviews here and on their website. We had the queen doubles which were more than adequate. Furnishings are beautiful and beds are very comfortable. Only drawbacks were that breakfast was not included (and nor do they offer any discounts for residents in the restaurant downstairs) and the bar is very expensive. Otherwise location is great and it's on a safe street. Good restaurants within a few minutes walk - we tried distilled, odeon and edward's which were all g... Read more

We stayed at Smyth for two brief nights- we loved the location, clean rooms, fireplace lounge and perfect little restaurant / bar on the first floor. The most incredible was Eddie. He remembered us from the moment we arrived until we left- his sincerity in making sure we were comfortable and happy was incredible. Thank you! Ps, the pizza reco was perfect.

The Smyth Thompson Hotel won't disappoint! The service was 10 star!!! I'm a difficult girl to please but this hotel experience was exceptional in every regard. Eddie was the go to guy for all thing NYC. He gave us superb tips on where to dine and go for a drink at night. It really was a positive experience! And the in room dinning is delicious!! :)
