"When I booked this Hotel for my wife and I, we were under the impression we were getting a renovated room. This was not the case! When we arrived the lobby doors were blocked off and we had to enter through the door on the side. This was a shock to both my wife and I. The room that is now there lobby was dirty and a dump. It took about an hour to get the room our room key. As they were completely unorganized. We still had hope as the new lobby area looked OK. We hoped the rooms would be too. After they asked us for another 57 dollars for a service fee. We received our key. When we went to our room and opened the door it was very clear the room was not renovated. Old bed, curtains, kitchen cupboards and table. The room was very small, But we new that. We just wanted it to be new. After I went to the bathroom I noticed the toilet was leaking. I went to phone the front desk but the phone didn't work. I went back down to the lobby to complain and was told there was nothing he could do. So, I went to the managers office and asked why the room wasn't renovated as advertised. I was then told just to 'relax and enjoy my holiday'. But, they would do nothing. I told them the toilet leaked. She said she would send someone to look at it. The guy came and said yes it was leaking and needed to be removed and a new seal put on. I then went back to the manager and told her. She then gave us a new room K4 and was told to see the front desk to get a new key. The front desk then made a call and we received a key for 3. Not sure what happened there. Went to the new room and it was not renovated but did have a new bed. Anyways, we would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It also has not restaurant. But it was close to Time Square. It was a disappointment but we did have a great time in New York!"

"We arrived to NY after the office had closed and had booked 2 studios but only 1 was on the 'night watch' records - this was sorted out reasonably promptly but our daughters room was 2 floors away from us. The rooms were dusty (so not sure why we were paying a cleaning fee?). The kitchen had the bare minimum and didn't even supply appropriate cleaning products to clean the extremely small kitchen. Location was good to Times sq and Broadway shows but the construction site across the road was very noisy going 24/7 except for Sunday. We were quite disturbed by the smell permeating through the corridors and people walking around who didn't seem to be staying at the hotel. In the room next to our daughters there seemed to be a non stop party going on all day and night with the loud noises going on. We asked management to ask them to quiten down which helped for a small amount of time but we were leaving soon and didn't want to cause trouble and goodness knows what. Our advice would be to find somewhere else even though the price and location was appealing."

"When booking this hotel it said that there were renovated rooms and balconies. I arrived at the hotel and got neither of these in my room. The lobby door was closed due to 'renovations' so we had to go into this gross dirty entrance where we were eventually greeted by a security guard. He called the office to check us in and he said they would call back in a few minutes. While we were waiting the security guard was cursing and saying I have no idea what is going on here, they just tell me to mind my own business. Lovely! About 10 minutes later the office called back and said they would call back in another few minutes. I have no idea how hard it is to look up a reservation, but obviously it was! Finally someone from the office came out and said you have to pay the service fee of $25. She walked away. Then the security guard told us where to go to pay the fee. So I walk into the office and the people are sitting there doing nothing, the lady that told us to pay is eating, very unprofessional! So the lady finally puts down her food and I ask her what the service fee is for, she says for cleaning the room when we leave and tv and internet. So they do not even clean the room while your there, but you have to pay for it. The TV was anything but worth paying for. It had horrible picture and not many stations. I told the lady we booked a renovated room with a balcony and she said our room had neither. She said they only had a couple of rooms that were renovated. So why are they advertising it?!?!? She offered no help for the 'misunderstanding' and just made me pay the $25. She said the room we had was a 'nice one'. As I'm in the office, one of the managers walks right into me like I'm not even standing there, very rude! So I figured I would look at the room. The room was ok but not what I thought I was paying for. There was no balcony and the room was obviously very dated. The bathroom ceiling was gross! There was also garbage in the pale when we got there. If they are being paid to clean the room after people stay there, the least they can do is clean it! It was alright overall, but I was upset that I paid for something that was not what I thought it was. For the price I paid including the service fee I could have gotten something a lot nicer where you would actually be greeted by a friendly receptionist who knew what they were talking about. The elevator was disgusting also and every time I took a shower it ran out of hot water."

"this place was a pleasant surprise. I booked two nights based on other reviews and price but was still skeptical. Although a little rough around the edges in places, overall the accomodations were clean and pleasant. I wasn't expecting a kitchenette but there it was. Everything worked fine. Not the most picturesque location in town, but pretty hard to find a more convenient one. I would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable room at a reasonable price."

"The hotel is a merry, and sometimes not so merry mix. They are in the midst of getting it together, though that may never happen. renovation issues abound. A newbie to the NY gesthalt might well be scared off, with the temporary entrance likened to an ashtray. Wifi is sketchy, coming and going...And with Port Authority one block away, even IF they surmount renovation issues, the din of buses making their way make sleep a challenge...YET one is two gritty blocks from a great neighborhood offering everything from food to theaters...And the price kind of encourages dropping you critical faculties at the door."

"We stayed at the Metro 2/18 and 2/19. First off, upon arriving there is no indication as to where to park and there is no drop off parking area, there was heavy traffic so we figured the parking garage across the street must be the place to go. It was not but we were not going to go around the block again (it took us 40 minutes to get around the block due to traffic congestion. So we payed 50 dollars to park since I will come back tomorrow for the 25 dollar parking.

Upon checking in I was greeted by someone who at first could not tell me if this was actually the Metro or not because he was giving vague answers about the parking. He finally admitted there was a driveway around the back but there is glass and nails because of construction so it is park at your own risk. First off it is NOT a lot but a yard with room for maybe 4 cars and the yard was strewn with debris so the parking ended up costing us 100 dollars.

We finally get in a rickety elevator with a decaying ceiling. The rooms ARE redone and not bad. However there was a broken shower curtain laying on the floor that did not get replaced until sometime Sunday afternoon.

Also, there is NO on site restaurant, I have no idea why they are advertising that.

So in conclusion, the room itself is pretty decent for the price but the bizarre desk man, the rip off parking and mis-advertising of an on site restaurant was enough for me to write this review. The first bad review I have ever wrote."

"Being a New Yorker, I wanted to give my twelve year old niece and eleven year old nephew a true New York experience for their first trip there. The hotel location in Hells Kitchen, steps away from Times Square was perfect. We took the subway from Port Authority, conveniently close, and was able to transport to the Statue of Liberty, walk to the Empire State Building and visit the flea market within walking distance.
The room was clean, very nicely decorated with all the amenities we needed. We saved money by cooking some of our meals. The beds were comfortable. The baloney gave us a nice gritty picturesque view of the city (and a place to step out for a smoke, as the room is non smoking).
I was very pleased with the Metro!!!"

"Although we didn't spend much time in the room, I was pleasantly impressed. We originally booked a studio room, but upon arrival were given a full king sized apt. (I'm assuming this was because of the 'slight' inconvenience of the remodel) I was concerned with being charged extra for this upgrade, but we weren't. The 'room' was huge, living/dining area, with small kitchen, two full sized/queen sized beds with closets. The remodeled room was modern and very visually pleasing. We even had a small balcony that overlooked the buses. For the price, it was a definitely surprise, and only 3 blocks from Times Square, you are able to be in the know without being right in it. Each time we needed anything, help working the T.V. or changing a lightbulb, the helpful and sincere staff worked quickly to help us achieve the desired result. Overall staff was very helpful, room was great, and we enjoyed our stay. Hopefully the price won't jump excessively after the remodel, because this place was a steal!!!"

"In these days of recession, we found that our usual Manhattan hotel was beyond our means and opted for an apartment without the frills that we were accustomed to. We fixed on the Metro Apartments and after some misgivings about the area, we found that our apartment on the sixth floor was spotless and in an excellent state of decoration. All

culinary items were present in new condition (some even with the wrappers still afixed) and the bathroom was spotless, even if the bath and wash basin plugs had been removed. As previous travelers in Russia, we carried spare plugs as a matter of course. The location was replete with restaurants, diners, theatres, shops, and transport."
