I stayed here for 6 nights on my most recent visit to NYC. I have been many times before staying in different hotels but so far this has been my favourite hotel experience and I will more than likely return on my next visit. Checking in was quick and easy. Our room (sadly!) was on the 5th floor with a view of a car park so we didn't get the amazing views that the hotel can offer from the higher floors, but the room was nicely sized with 2 double beds, very clean and the bathroom was huge. Though I live in Manhattan, I stay here every so often when I've had a long week and don't have the will to make it home. I'm not a by any means a regular, but I've seen a few of the rooms. They are all well appointed, and standard size for luxury Manhattan hotels, plus the hotel is still pretty new and they are meticulous in the maintenance and housekeeping departments, so all is in beautiful condition. I definitely give all the staff at the hotel maximum grades. Impeccably courteous, helpful,... Read more

This is one of my favorite places to stay in the city. But my experience this trip was so good, I felt I had to write a review. I actually wrote the GM personally to express my satisfaction but I never heard back, which, from previous experiences, is unusual. But that's another story... I was in NYC for two weeks and my stay at the Intercontinental couldn't have been better. They're giving their counterparts at Intercontinental Chicago a run for their money. I was here for business and pleasure. From a disorganized check-in, small rooms and absolutely no feeling of being welcome in the hoteI cannot recommend it. I was here for four days and not one time did a staff member open a door, say hello, or make it seem like they cared that I was here in the hotel. As an Intercontinental IHG Platinum Ambassador member I hoped for more. When I asked about an upgraded room I was told that the hotel was sold out the next night. Nothing else. It feels like a... First time in New York and so pleased we chose this hotel you could not get a better location and the whole ambiance was great. From the doormen who remember you every time through to Todd English's food both in the Cava restaurant and breakfast truly something that will stay in our memories for a long long time. Room overlooking 44th and 8 Avenue brill!! Would recommend immediately.

what a nice hotel this ought to be... and how wrong it went. We arrived late from a delayed flight. Despite calling ahead to let them know, they gave our room away and one of us spent a very uncomfortable night on a campbed, which took a long time to arrive. The next room was lovely and the view spectacular, but no compensation or other apology was offered for the joke that the first night had been. It just continued like that... not sure why we came back to our room with the temperature set... Read more

Terrific location, in the middle of everything. Beautiful lobby but not especially friendly staff. Beds are comfortable, our windows were impressive. Would definitely stay again, but would also be open to somewhere with a little more personal attention. Rather rude valets-- my kids were horrified!

Great location if you are seeing a show. Otherwise not so much. Check-in was disappointing. As an "ambassador", there is a separate check-in area. Woman was unsmiling, not helpful almost to the point of being rude. Room was on a high floor, but small. Nothing outstanding about the room. We were never greeted upon re-entering the hotel, never told to have a good day when leaving. The breakfasts were ok. Ate there on our last morning since we were supposed to receive a discount for being a ... Read more

Stayed at the hotel for 8 nights and as usual, excellent. This is by far not my first stay and enjoy it every time that I stay here. Special shoutout us to the concierge who assisted me with many small tips and the Ambassador representatives who are great. The fitness center is really respectable for a NYC hotel. The rooms are large and very comfortable- also a rarity in NYC. What is missing is a spa, but that is my only complaint. Overall, very good.

I am a Platinum and an Ambassador with IHG, and it was as if I was a regular customer; which is fine if the hotel is very good, you may indeed forget these details. Though, the checking was slow, incorrect and no care for their loyal customers, in my case. The room was nice, though, its carpet was so stained, you would not feel comfortable walking bare feet...mind you this is a $300 USD room we are discussing here; The turn-down service was limited closing the curtains and opening the beds, tho... Although the location of the hotel is good, the service provided doesn't seem like it's 5 star hotel. Some of the Front desk staffs do not really know how to provide a good service. Quite disappointed during the stay as I don't feel like I am staying at a 5 star hotel. Paying 5 star hotel price but service is like 3 star one.

Over the years I have tried quite a few good hotels in Manhattan. I need to stay mid town for the exhibition hall and found The Intercontinental to be in a good position for the Javits Centre (where I walked every morning) and getting round on my days off. I was upgraded to a slightly better room, not sure if that had anything to do with the room itself or the floor it was on but it was lovely, clean, big, with a fabulous walk in shower, room to work as well as relax. I have stayed at this hotel a few times now for business. The hotel is centrally located, and pretty much you can access the city from here (Times square subway). The staff is helpful, courteous, not over bearing (as they are in so many other hotels in NYC). The rooms are nice size; beds are comfortable; the place is clean; the Todd English restaurants are consistently good. The internet is stable, and strong. One of my three mid priced chain hotels to stay in NYC. Highly recommend.

I am a west side person so this is my favorite hotel in NYC. My nephew and I are both night owls so this is the perfect hotel. We came downstairs at 11pm and the streets are buzzing with energy, not like the ones on the east side. I have stayed in this hotel several times. The experience was always good. Staffs were professional and rooms were clean and modern. I also like the hotel is right next to an entrance of Metro station. However this hotel doesn't have a club lounge. Stayed here for a few nights on a business trip. Room was spacious, bathroom was modern and clean and bed was comfortable. Views of the city from the room were pretty cool. Restaurant was also very yummy. Staff was very welcoming and efficient. Only complaint was that I am an IHG member and the people with whom I was traveling were not and they got the nicer corner rooms. Not sure how IHG membership is factored into the visit but other hotel membership plans wouldn't do that.

I got this room for free on points, but still this hotel was sub-par, I expect more from an Intercontinental. Upsides first: 1. Comfy bedding! Always in an IHG hotel, gotta love that. 2. Spa like bath (with the rain from the ceiling shower, no bath in my room, nice soaps/gels/etc) 1. Check-in time was over 10 minutes, totally unacceptable, staff was really cold and unfriendly. This trip was our last holiday before our baby comes, so we wanted to make it special. The hotel is generally lovely, the reception and bar are attractive and spacious. The room was spacious (but all US hotel rooms are big to British eyes!) There was quite a bit of road noise in our room that woke me up, the windows weren't great at keeping the noise out. I always request a room far from the elevator which was given to avoid the noise. The room is spacious (comparing to other rooms in New York). The location is exceptional if you are visiting to explore New York Manhattan: it is located exactly in the middle of Manhattan which makes it easy to walk 20 minutes to Central Park and 30 minutes to Soho. I've been underwhelmed by the staff's attitude and (lack of) professionalism: 1) the front desk does not answer when called from the room. Not only did I observe this (twice), but guests were queued up in the lobby to talk F2F because they too "couldn't get anyone to answer" - it seemed to be a systemic problem. 2) checking-in and checking-out always involved waiting in line. We were twice left without washcloths, once with no bathmat and once with no coffee (only decaf and tea). There is a convenient subway entrance nearby. Abundant resta... Read more

For an intercontinental I was disappointed. The wifi constantly dropped. And the second night the sheets smelled so strongly of detergent or fabric softener I actually had to get up and change beds in the middle of the night, fortunately I had 2 doubles and the other bed sheets didn't reek of flowers. Also the hotel didn't have complimentary bottled water in the room,it was only available for purchase at a ridiculous price which is especially annoying being their top tier spire status. Not my f... We booked plays p, 6 of them over the course of 4 days. Everything was within 2 or 3 blocks. Two Queen sized beds for 2 people at a great rate. A large room too, as far as New York rooms go. A very friendly staff.

I travel to NY every year and always stay in a different hotel. This is easily the nicest hotel I have stayed in. It's very clean and modern. Beautifully decorated, with a homely comfortable feeling. The room service is delicious, especially the breakfast. The bathroom was the best thing about the room with a walk in shower. The room also had a massive window which really brightened up the room. Speaking from experience NY hotel rooms tend to be quite dark. The location was perfect just off time... Read more

This was a surprise birthday trip and our first time in NYC. My husband chose the InterContinental hotel due to its central location in Times Square. We had a high floor room which provided excellent views and reduced any noise that may have come from the hustle and bustle of Times Square. We didn't eat in the hotel having read reviews of there being many restaurants around, which was true. Check in was quick and professional and whilst our room wasn't ready, the bell boys quickly arranged for... Read more

I stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is nice and the location is really nice but overall it was below what I expected from Intercontinental. I would say the cleanness of the hotel is not that good and the service is not that good as well. They have a real issue of late check in (4 P.M) and very early check out (11 A.M). I know it is kind of NYC standard but still for me not acceptable. Low level room is a bit noisy.

Didn't know there was an Intercontinental West Side--I always just thought of the Grand Dame on 48TH and Lex; this is a beautiful new hotel; great rooms but still having issues mostly check in and check out. The front desk is clearly understaffed for the crowd at Xmas time--wait was not terrible but annoying. Check out more severe as they should have a separate person at a separate desk to handle departure. Come to think of it, I wonder why the new sophisticated electronics didn't have an expres...
