I stayed for three nights for a business trip. From the start, the staff was amazing, very helpful and kind. I really enjoyed newly renovated rooms and lobby. The breakfast itself was extraordinary. The internet connection was very fast. The room was well furnished and quiet. I will definitely come back and become a loyal customer of this hotel my future NY visits.

The hotel just completed a major renovation. It's impeccably clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room I stayed in was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I really liked that the AC/Heating system was quiet.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the newly reburbished NY Barclay. Firstly, I must say that the hotel looks beautiful, fantastic lobby, clean and well serviced rooms. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. However, the hotel just fell short of a 5 star rating. On the back of a hectic business conference schedule in Orlando. It was a pleasure to experience the newly renovated hotel. From the quick checkin to the high end room and bathroom finishes , I enjoyed the overall experience at the hotel. Rooms surprising large for New York location and based on the competitive pricing. I will definitely be revisiting this hotel on my next trip. Close proximity to some good quality Hell's Kitchen food improve my overall experience.

After a 250 million upgrade,and closed for a year, we visited this weekend. A great new look, new rooms, new bar, etc. what did not change was the great staff. from Ann Mara & Leslie to Ramon and the restaurant staff, many familiar faces with the same warm and welcoming attitude. It is still for us like coming home and we will continue to patronize this hotel.

Staff is generally friendly and accommodating here, but poorly trained. This hotel, although renovated, has a lot to still work on in terms of guest services. The hotel did not have hot water the next day due to scheduled repairs. The staff failed to mention this to us at check-in and I found out while trying to take a hot shower at 10am on a weekday. Wow....what a wonderful "five star" experience! The hotel has been totally renovated and exceeds expectation. The warm engaging staff, the beautiful surroundings, fine quality bedding and towels, excellent dining facilities and an outstanding lobby bar and lounge made for an exceptional stay. I highly recommend this hotel and will be returning on my future NYC visits!

We came here for my mother's birthday - she was pleased with the room, the lobby/decor. It's a few blocks from the subway and there are several eateries in the area. We even walked down to Grand Central Station and over to Central Park. Pretty large rooms for NYC, comfortable beds and the bathroom was gorgeous!

I would not come back here - night dining was mot available, adaptors for a super charge of $35, cappuccino in the room was awful, for a breakfast I paid $54 - i ate just a bagel and muesli ?! The coffee is awful, no expressos So try to find smth else. With regards, Sergey

They renewed the hotel but they should have renewed the management. We are used to stay here, I am IHG ambassador, so I should receive a special service... I was disgusted by the service this time. The Barclay is back!! Extensive and obviously meticulous renovation to restore it to its original glory. I loved the history of the hotel and enjoyed reading/seeing the artifacts by the elevators. Built in 1926 and originally constructed as part of the Grand Central Terminal expansion, it catered to men & women coming to NYC. This place was amazing. I can't remember what kind of room i had. It was either a standard kind...or one level above that. But it was amazing either way. The bed was so comfortable. I adored the shower and the heat controlled floor in the bathroom. The tv channels were great. I had a lovely stay here. However, i will mention the front deskman wasn't the most friendly.

Me and my partner stopped here some time ago on our first visit to NYC. I can't comment on the new refurbishment as this was done after our stay but the stay that we had was very good. The room was lovely and although we only had the view of the side street and the passing traffic it was still lovely. The staff were friendly and I don't recall any major problems with our stay.

Remodeled to bring back the glamour of years gone by. The hotel is perfect in every way (the rooms are small but this NYC and InterContinentals. I love InterContinentals and never find them dirty or lacking in customer service. However, they tend not to have huge rooms. Everything from the front desk to the rooms crisp sheets was a wonderful experience. Ernst Hemingway used the Barclay as his home away from home when writing. I can see why.

Great property, recently renovated, in the heart of Manhattan. Conveniently located to just about all of the attractions. Excellent staff, fantastic rooms and comfortable beds. If you're so inclined, check out the bar and look for Chrystal, a very knowledgeable and friendly bartender who makes a great Manhattan by the way. We stayed for 4 lovely nights. The location was ideal as we could walk to anything, but the area was quiet and clean. The renovation is amazing and the desire to create a Park Avenue apartment feel was certainly achieved. We had a few little housekeeping issues that were quickly addressed. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful. We'll return!!

Walking into the Intercontinental NY Barclay is a beautiful experience! The entrance is wonderful - marble floors, crystal chandeliers, comfortable seating areas. Sharon at the front desk made us feel so welcome. We had two rooms and had arrived early, so Sharon checked with housekeeping whether one of them might be ready. Booked this hotel as the location was convenient and we had a convention nearby. For a 4* hotel (or is it 5?) their service is horrible. Concierge service is fine, but the counters were terrible. They weren't willing to exchange my notes to quarters? Yes maybe taking a bus or a sub is not something touristy but this tourist likes to soak in that way. That was a terrible thing to experience. Our family arrived at The Barclay, for our first New York experience. We loved the refurbished, new look of the hotel. Classic, stylish decor. The staff were always so helpful but special mention to the concierge, Adrian who provided details and ideas to take our sight seeing to the next level, as a family. July 8 & 9. Stopped in for a few days before on to Massachusetts for business. We occupied a very lovely Executive King room. Beautifully decorated and comfortable. More than adequate for a long or short stay in the city. Staff were professional and friendly. We would definitely stay again for a short stay. We are traveling back through the city this weekend and will stay a few extra days at The Plaza as is our preferred luxury hotel for longer stays.

This hotel has a classic old New York hotel feel. It is on the midtown east side of Manhattan. Many miss this as a great place to stay for business or fun New York activities. It is quiet but has an active bar scene. The rooms are well done, and I highly recommend it on your next stay!

It has been several years since I have stayed at the Barclay. I was just there for 2 nights and found it to be a great experience. The lobby is a beautiful time piece of old fashioned luxury. This is by far one of the best hotels that I have stayed in New York City for business. The hotel is newly renovated and it shows. From the beautiful high ceilings in the lobby to the large comfortable beds in the room. The rooms are pricey but does reflect quality and in my mind worth the extra dollars. The recent renovation at the Intercontinental Barclay makes the hotel stunning - one of the best I've seen. The lobby is bright and luxurious. Checking in was very smooth and they have two elevator banks that easily service the guest rooms. The room decor was a combination of classic luxury with a modern flair - very well done. This hotel is absolutely fantastic... best location... top amenities... staff were so inviting... The renovated hotel is beautiful. The decor is chic, grand and modern but cozy. I stayed at the hotel for 1 night and I absolutely enjoyed my stay. The rooms are comfortable and big for a hotel in the city. The bed is comfortable and the pillows are a dream. The bathroom shampoo, conditioner etc smell delicious and I love that it had a bathtub. Everyone at the hotel was very accommodating and friendly. I would come back anytime! It is absolutely worth every penny!

The Intercontinental Barclay Hotel in New York, a long-standing institution in mid-town Manhattan, has undergone substantial renovation over the past year. The lobby has a new face that is befitting a Broadway location than the Park Avenue. It is done in poor taste and without the charm that characterized its old lobby. My company's NY offices are right around the corner, so this is a very convenient option. It was still closed for renos the last time I was in town, and so this was my first opportunity to stay there. I admit I was a bit apprehensive. Love the new Intercontinental Barclay, the new look is amazing by keeping it classy and sophisticate. rooms are freshly done, great art work and the bathrooms have great lighting as well. Just completed a week at this property and was very, very impressed with the complete renovations. I'm a long time traveler and a elite member of the IC club.The room was very comfortable, heated marble floor was a nice touch. The room the servise the staff is whet I remember what is was like to stay at a IC property years ago. We stayed in the middle of a heat wave - 95f/35c - but the Barclay lobby always greeted us with a cool wall of air when we returned from a day in the city. The Barclay has been recently fully renovated and one can feel it's old world charm with understated luxury as soon as you walk in to the lobby. The hotel has all the modern amenities and I loved the SMART TV which allows one to see online shows from the device. Stayed for a week with my family. 2 kids (6 and 1 yrs old). Had a very pleasant stay. Nice room and professional and service minded staff. All smiling and helpful with kids. Location is a good starting point for exploring New York. Did not try breakfast at the hotel since right outside the door there were multiple options.

I've stayed in the Barclay several times over the years, but this was the first time after it was redone. The lobby area is tasteful and the rooms, who used to be sligtly run down, have been completely redone, with great decor and very attractive bathrooms. Great place to stay in New York.

Things that matter to me and I wish they'd change: - The fridge/mini bar has so little space that I couldn't even fit one bottle of water in there. There is a tiny square marked "personal space" in the mini bar that may be big enough to hold a can of soda. That's it. - There are only 3-4 ice machines in the entire hotel. Upon arrival of this shiny new gem in midtown we were blown away by the friendly staff as we entered the lobby. Being in the heart of midtown and right next to the Waldorf we were expecting great service but the warm hospitality was over the top. If you are a light sleeper do not choose this hotel. The Intercontinental Times Square is much quieter. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything your neighbors say. Quite disappointing at 6:30 am. The hotel is beautiful as it just came out of a renovation and the staff are very friendly. Location is great and outside the hotel is not as crazy as the Times Square location.

Stay there for 3 nights. Arrived a little bit earlier but check inn was smooth and fast!!! I got a free wifi in room access as part of their frequent guess club. We stayed 3 nights at the Intercontinental Barclay for a girls' weekend. Being Ambassador members, we were able to use our certificate for a free night, and the regular rates were very reasonable. We have been staying at the Barclay for many years. Now it is even better than ever. We stayed for a week in June. As always, the staff could not be more polite, helpful, and friendly. Luckily, many of the old staff returned after the renovation, including wonderful David at the front door, who always greets us as if we are family. I am a frequent traveller and stay at the Intercontinental hotels around the globe. The reason why I booked this one is because of my loyalty to the ambassador status. They don't even recognise ambassadors here so your better off staying at any hotel in NY as there is no benefit. The room upgrade wouldn't even be considered an upgrade anywhere else. Work colleagues had always recommended staying at The Barclay even before it's renovation and I thought I??d give it a go since it??s reopening. I have stayed at this property several times in the past and was absolutely amazed at the new and improved renovated hotel! Stayed for 3 nights for a Christmas shopping break, the hotel seemed quite grand and a lot of business travellers. Greeted on arrival by the front door men opening the door of my taxi which was nice. The hotel was decorated xmassy inside and had a xmas choir with warm ambience and atmosphere. The rooms were very nice view over the Chrysler building, big comfy bed and a plasma TVs. Clean comfortable and a good location central to grand central station and Times Square.

This was my first time staying at the Intercontinental NY Barclay and I must say that it was fantastic. The location was very convenient and centrally located. The lobby was large and the staff was helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only negative was that the standard size rooms were a bit small but apart from this everything else was great!

We stayed at Intercontinental Barclay for almost a week for business. The rooms are nicely renovated (much better than many of the hotels in NY which we find too old). AC is efficient and clean. First time stay in decades. The hotel is gorgeous. Staff was extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Needed a bandaid, no problem. Check in and check out went well. Getting cabs sometimes is a challenge. Rooms are well appointed. Not spacious but that's New York. Plenty of hot water. AC not the best. Put it on 66 and still a little warm. Would definitely stay here again. Kudos to staff. Great job.

The moment I entered, I knew this was a special hotel. It was beautiful, clean, sophisticated and different than any other NY hotel I have stayed in. I will now always choose Intercontinental Barclay whether I am staying for work or with my family. As sophisticated as it was, it also felt like home. Everyone I came in contact with on the staff was very warm, helpful, and welcoming. Great job!!

This hotel is above my normally-affordable price point, but we got a great last minute deal on Hotwire. Everything about this hotel is a total pleasure - the staff is helpful and friendly, the hotel itself is gorgeous and so conveniently situated, and the rooms are quite, comfortable and beautifully appointed. I've been looking for a go to hotel in Midtown East and I don't think I found it quite yet. Stayed for a couple nights at the Intercontinental Barclay and location is nice, lobby is nice, rooms is decent. However, there were a couple drawbacks. Stayed here for 3 nights. There had been a mix up in the bookings but it was sorted out well by reception. The rooms were comfortable and we got the interconnecting rooms we asked for. I stayed at the Barclay for the first time and was incredibly impressed. It was newly renovated and so clean. The location couldn't have been better for my stay in NYC, I could easily access anything right outside the door. With a location literally next to the Waldorf Astoria, there can be few if any better locations for a stay in NYC. This was our first trip to the US and we were so pleased with our choice of hotel and can really give the Barclay our highest recommendation. This place has great attention to detail. My room had a wall mural of New York harbor, very cool. The bathroom shower had 2 show heads and the tub drained on the opposite end. The controls for the show were very unique as well, like I have never seen. The bathroom and entry had real tile, black and white checkerboard. This added classy to the room. The location was great. What a stunning hotel, very central and only a few blocks from central park. The rooms are luxurious, beds are super comfortable with a good sized shower. This hotel feels like a retreat from the hustle and bustle of New York, even though it's perfectly positioned within walking distance from all the main attractions. The foyer is magnificent and the rooms are elegantly designed (with a top-notch coffee machine). The staff give it the fifth star. They go to the ends of the earth to help, with none of the pomposity that is all too common in high-end hotels. I'll definitely be back.

Spent two nights here last week, first visit since the hotel re-opened after two years of renovations. Front desk service still excellent. New lobby looks much better and bar area is a major upgrade. Being just 3 avenues from Times Square was perfect. Easy for walking to go to a couple shows but also not right in the middle of all the madness. Was a nice walk to Central Park as well. Subway is right there also. Special shoutout to Peter who was there at check-in and check out. He was very nice and accommodating. Although the building is not grand, NY style, the Barclay is beautiful, modern with a traditional NY feel. After 18 months of renovations, it re-opened in May 2016. I loved our room in the 14th floor. It looked out into the atrium. Although the hotel is at Lexington and 48th, the room was very quiet. I did not hear police sirens. This hotel looks amazing! The renovation was done perfectly and the entire hotel is gorgeous! The rooms are spacious and the decor beautiful. Loved the bathroom - especially the lighted mirror. The property has been recently renovated so the rooms have a very new feel to them. The bathrooms are nice and a good size for NY standards. The beds are comfortable although the pillows were not particularly good quality. The gym was disappointingly small for the size of the hotel and the queues at the front desk to check-in and check-out were way too long. Check-out at 11am is too early and should be a sensible midday.

The hotel was decent, a good location and a nice room. However the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. I didn't sleep all week and would wake up with hip pain, back pain. The mattress felt like a very low quality mattress. For this reason alone I would never stay at this hotel again. Stayed 2 nights at the Intercontinental Barclay and was very pleased. Arrived early and was able to check in and not only get a room right away, but get upgraded to a king bed!
