Pros: post-renovation rooms are clean and pristine, excellent Midtown East location, beautiful floral arrangements in the lobby Cons: check-in took over 30 minutes because my room was unavailable, which was surprising for a hotel of this caliber, but I was offered a free upgrade, which I appreciated

I stayed for three nights for a business trip. From the start, the staff was amazing, very helpful and kind. I really enjoyed newly renovated rooms and lobby. The breakfast itself was extraordinary. The internet connection was very fast. The room was well furnished and quiet. I will definitely come back and become a loyal customer of this hotel my future NY visits.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the newly reburbished NY Barclay. Firstly, I must say that the hotel looks beautiful, fantastic lobby, clean and well serviced rooms. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. However, the hotel just fell short of a 5 star rating. We were in NYC to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and despite informing the hotel of this special occasion when we booked, via social media and to the lady when we checked in we were not even wished 'happy anni... On the back of a hectic business conference schedule in Orlando. It was a pleasure to experience the newly renovated hotel. From the quick checkin to the high end room and bathroom finishes , I enjoyed the overall experience at the hotel. Rooms surprising large for New York location and based on the competitive pricing. I will definitely be revisiting this hotel on my next trip. Close proximity to some good quality Hell's Kitchen food improve my overall experience.

After a 250 million upgrade, and closed for a year, we visited this weekend. A great new look, new rooms, new bar, etc. what did not change was the great staff. from Ann Mara & Leslie to Ramon and the restaurant staff, many familiar faces with the same warm and welcoming attitude. It is still for us like coming home and we will continue to patronize this hotel.

Staff is generally friendly and accommodating here, but poorly trained. This hotel, although renovated, has a lot to still work on in terms of guest services. The hotel did not have hot water the next day due to scheduled repairs. The staff failed to mention this to us at check-in and I found out while trying to take a hot shower at 10am on a weekday. The front desk informed me that a piece of paper (false) had been left in my room as notice of the lack of hot water. Even if they had left no... Read more

Wow....what a wonderful "five star" experience! The hotel has been totally renovated and exceeds expectation. The warm engaging staff, the beautiful surroundings, fine quality bedding and towels, excellent dining facilities and an outstanding lobby bar and lounge made for an exceptional stay. I highly recommend this hotel and will be returning on my future NYC visits!

We came here for my mother's birthday - she was pleased with the room, the lobby/decor. It's a few blocks from the subway and there are several eateries in the area. We even walked down to Grand Central Station and over to Central Park. Pretty large rooms for NYC, comfortable beds and the bathroom was gorgeous!

They renewed the hotel but they should have renewed the management. We are used to stay here, I am IHG ambassador, so I should receive a special service... I was disgusted by the service this time. Few examples: -I purchased some stuff from Amazon to be delivered at the hotel. Name and room number was well specified. The Barclay is back!! Extensive and obviously meticulous renovation to restore it to its original glory. I loved the history of the hotel and enjoyed reading/seeing the artifacts by the elevators. Built in 1926 and originally constructed as part of the Grand Central Terminal expansion, it catered to men & women coming to NYC. Stayed there only one night: June 15, Now, it has such a contemporary and polished feel, yet a nod to the history behind the hotel. -Great lobby bar and delicious bar s... Read more

This place was amazing. I can't remember what kind of room i had. It was either a standard kind...or one level above that. But it was amazing either way. The bed was so comfortable. I adored the shower and the heat controlled floor in the bathroom. The tv channels were great. I had a lovely stay here. However, i will mention the front deskman wasn't the most friendly.

Me and my partner stopped here some time ago on our first visit to NYC. I can't comment on the new refurbishment as this was done after our stay but the stay that we had was very good. The room was lovely and although we only had the view of the side street and the passing traffic it was still lovely. The staff were friendly and I don't recall any major problems with our stay.

Remodeled to bring back the glamour of years gone by. The hotel is perfect in every way (the rooms are small but this NYC and InterContinentals. Booked this hotel as the location was convenient and we had a convention nearby. For a 4* hotel (or is it 5?) their service is horrible. Concierge service is fine, but the counters were terrible. They weren't willing to exchange my notes to quarters? Yes maybe taking a bus or a sub is not something touristy but this tourist likes to soak in that way. That was a terrible thing to experience. Work colleagues had always recommended staying at The Barclay even before it's renovation and I thought I??d give it a go since it??s reopening. It??s obvious that the hotel has undergone a major refurbishment - the whole place still looks fresh and new (which given it reopened in April and the amount of foot traffic NYC hotels get, that??s not bad going). Stayed for 3 nights for a Christmas shopping break, the hotel seemed quite grand and a lot of business travellers. Greeted on arrival by the front door men opening the door of my taxi which was nice. The hotel was decorated xmassy inside and had a xmas choir with warm ambience and atmosphere. The rooms were very nice view over the Chrysler building, big comfy bed and a plasma TVs. Clean comfortable and a good location central to grand central station and Times Square.

I had the pleasure of staying here after I had surgery. I dealt with Lakshmi Tiwari, who ensured that my immediate needs were met. She went above and beyond in ensuring that my room was close to the elevator (given that I was recovering from a recent surgical procedure), provided me with a welcome basket of fruit (thank you very much), and provided me with an orientation to nearby amenities--including recommendations for restaurants in the neighborhood. Overall, the staff was extremely hospitabl... Read more

I came to the Intercontinental Barclay last week to tour the hotel - I had been meaning to since they reopened in April. I was greeted by a vast, comfortable lobby that felt extremely classic and attentive staff. Lauren led me on the tour and was very friendly - I learned a lot about the history of the hotel. The event space is elegant and great for large groups. The guestrooms were roomy and I loved the having a keurig machine in the room. We ended at the Gin Parlour and the Gin & Tonic was the... I chose this hotel because of the location, the updated rooms and lobby, and the rate for two nights. Walked to the hotel from the Grand Central Terminal, about six blocks north on Lexington. We got an early check-in, we had a choice of king with walk in shower or two doubles with tub/shower. Went with the walk in shower. Room 1765 is located right over the lobby, in the bottom shape of the u-shape hotel. The first night we had the windows open and the traffic on 48th Street was exceedingly loud... Read more

Hotel is in a great location and very clean but those are about the only positives I can find. Rooms are small and don't have a bath tub and as previously mentioned, the walls are paper thin. All of this would be completely irrelevant if there was a five star approach to customer service but there just isn't. Queued at reception on both check in and check out as there were never enough staff on duty. Asked for an ice bucket and glasses to be placed in the room whilst we were out but they didn't... I love this hotel! It is located on Lexington Ave and close to Park Ave. Lots of amazing restaurants around. You know how some hotels look nice from the outside or lobby looks nice but the rooms are dingy? Not this one! It is stunning, from the lobby to the hallways and all the way to the rooms. The property managed to keep the old elegance but updated at the same time. My room was impeccably clean, bed was very comfortable and there was nothing to complain about! I stayed 4 nights at The New York Barclay with my girlfriend. From the moment we arrived we were positive surprised when we entered the lobby. It has the style of NYC from the twenties with a passion for every little detail. The Barclay has been renovated and reopened this April, therefore it has everything to offer you wish to have. Yes it still is big, but we never felt that. Our room was big, the bed comfortable, the location was perfect and the staff was always asking for help and took car... Read more

The people at check-in and answering the phone are striving and putting forward their best but the hotel can't quite seem to pull it off. To obtain a room upgrade I signed up for the Ambassador Program. Two hundred dollars, which was also to include a daily newspaper, fresh fruit on arrival and water in the room. Do not bother with this or spend the money. It simply is not worth it. I suppose we were upgraded but our room seemed to me typical of this hotel. And two people but only one cha... Read more

I'm a hotel vagabond, I may like a hotel but it doesn't necessarily mean I'll stay there again. This is especially true of New York City, where there's always a new hotel to try or, for that matter, a new/old neighborhood to explore. I was deciding between the Indigo on the Lower East Side and the Barclay and ended up with the latter. I by no means regret trading LES with Midtown East but will say that, next time and in line with my vagabond ways, the Indigo (or some other LES hotel) will prob... Read more

I think they call it a mid-range hotel but i thought it was great value for money as part of a package deal with British Airways. A striking marble entrance lobby that has a real class about it.
