Had a great stay at Hotel Hugo and would definitely return. The roof-top bar is well worth it to see the sunsets (faces West) and good cocktails. But it does get busy so get there early or reserve a seat/table. The rooms are excellent and well-finished, and surprisingly a good size. All amenities worked without a problem and staff were friendly. The hotel is not in one of the well-known areas but was very convenient - subway stops a short walk away, and was only a 10-15min stroll intot he heart... Read more

This is an under-the-radar location in West Soho immediately north of Tribeca. It's quiet, yet accessible and the neighborhood has pretty much everything you need, while being adjacent to busy Soho and the beautiful walkways and fresh air of Hudson River Park. Kind of the best of both worlds.

Reasonable price for the location, great view of the Hudson, roof top bar! Room, while tight, had a good size desk and no carpet! (I hate carpet And good for allergies) So/so - small rooms and food is ok. Great service and easy to book direct. Prices same though between hotel site and a hotels.com.

Overall, it's a great hotel! The rooftop bar is beautiful, but it does get really crowded, so we only spent about a half hour in the bar before dinner one evening. Aside from the rooms being small, they are well designed, very clean and the beds are very comfortable. No water pressure in the shower, definitely need new shower heads! Great location and wonderful concierge service.

My boyfriend and his band performed there on a Sunday night in June. It's a nice rooftop. It was a real nice evening and met some great people that evening. The vibe was wonderful and really nice people. The bar is cool but drinks a bit pricey. I had appetizers were good, but the waitress that evening was a bit rude as she had no eye contact and no interaction. Which I find it weird as everyone else was super friendly. The bartender that evening was super cool and I will be back again.

I think this hotel appeals more to the under 40s than to those in an older age bracket. For the former, it has a streamlined, cool feel to it and a stunning rooftop bar. The older age bracket likes proper maintenance undertaken in their rooms before they arrive (broken blind/non-working basin plug) and the room itself to be made up. Also, given the size of the rooms, beware hitting your shins on the square corners of the bed, as you navigate your way around the limited space. Location is excell... Read more

Feels like a nice place to stay rather than just your average hotel. This is a good hotel - rooms are nice, very well appointed and come at a reasonable size (for NYC). The location is slightly off the core of Soho - but it is just a 10-15 min walk to the action. The rooftop lounge was a disappointment - music far too loud and no real external space (pictures gave me the impression the terrace was wide - bit there is de facto no terrace as such, just opened doors on to a narrow balcony type of space). Hotel Hugo was fabulous! Clean, comfy, and friendly . The hotel staff answered all our "first time in New York" with a smile. The room was spacious and decorated beautifully. Easy access to the subway. NY hotel rooms are small, this one was especially so. we could barely walk around the bed. Lighting in the room was poor - the closet was dark. These are the reasons why Hotel Hugo has received a poor rating: 1. We asked the concierge to book 3 restaurants, 3 months prior to our arrival. She confirmed that it wouldn't be a problem, but 1 week prior to checking in it turned out that only one reservation was made. One of the restaurants was subsequently booked out so we missed our opportunity. We complained to the manager but no response was made. 2. One of the highlights of my visit to NYC is a stay at the Hugo. The only thing more accommodating than the hotel and rooms is the stellar staff. If you need ground transportation, do yourself a favor and request their car service from Eddy. The rooftop bar is not to be missed and the neighborhood is great to stroll around.

Booked one of my team into this hotel with 2 separate confirmations as stay was extended. They refused to honour the 2nd confirmation & asked her to leave. In her hurry to pack she left some clothes behind. Emailed the hotel to ask when she could return to collect them... no answer. She left NY and is now back in London without her clothes. Hotel Hugo was in a great location close to the cool shops and restaurants in SoHo and the West Village. The roof top bar is impressive and the rooms comfortable but compact as you'd expect in Manhattan. I was shocked to be charged 6USD for a bottle of water in the room. Most hotels of this standard would provide a complimentary bottle. They were also stingy with the toiletries - only one of each product and likewise with the coffees and teas. And only one bathrobe when we were a couple staying ... Read more

We were a party of ten and stayed for four nights in New York. Loved the downtown location and how near it placed us to a very different and more village feel from previous trips. The immediate area of the hotel is somewhat run down and gritty, but the proximity to the vast array of brilliant bars and restaurants made it more than worth it. The staff were friendly, especially on reception, concierge and at the door. We'd booked the hotel for its rooftop bar which sadly didn't open during our f... Read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Hotel Hugo. I attempted to book an in-room nail treatment that was offered to me via a pre-stay email, but apparently that is no longer done at the hotel. I felt bad for the front desk staff because they were extremely confused about the request. Also, I arrived in my room to find that my refrigerator was broken (someone had left it open and all of the items inside were hot), the WiFi was absolutely awful, and the fitness center was tucked away ... Everything about this hotel we loved from the view out of room to the huge comfy bed. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfy and in good repair. Downside was the bar upstairs, it has wonderful views unfortunately the bar staff I found to be unhelpful and the drinks prices way too expensive. Had a great weeks holiday here.

We were staying in July 2016 with two kids (10 & 11 years) in this hotel. The room was very small, but that is NYC - if you want more space, be ready to spend a fortune. Otherwise, I can definitely recommend the Hugo. The view that the rooftop bar (on two floors) offers is breathtaking! Empire State Building, Hudson River, Freedom tower- it's all there. Comfortable, stylish small hotel on Greenwich Street at Spring. Not the best venue if you want a great view of the city, but the rooftop bar does supply a great view across the Hudson. The rooms are not a bad size for New York. I do agree with another reviewer, that the shower control is badly positioned, so yes, you do get a cold blast while turning it on. An awesome hotel for many reasons: Clean, comfortable, and trendy hotel. Good sized room given it was a double. Quiet at night (no street noise and although it has a fabulous rooftop bar, its not a party hotel). Walking distance to restaurants, shopping, subway, and many sights like the Highline and the World Trade Centre memorial site. The rooftop lounge is a must. Stunning views of the Hudson, cool vibe, great service! Recommend for families with teenagers, couples, or a girls weekend.
