Small rooms (two people need to coordinate movements to avoid bumping into each other), very clean, strong wifi, coffee in the lobby, funky decor, good location near Chinatown. Our room had night tables made from old packing crates which gave an interesting feel to the room as did the artsy NYC themed drawing on the wall - painted ON the wall. Great channel selection on the 32" flat screen tv. Safe and refrigerator. Some second floor rooms overlook Lafayette st which provides excellent peop... Read more

This is a very affordable place to stay just steps away from a direct subway line to Times Square. Our room was quite small but highly functional - just 2 feet bigger on all sides of our King sized bed. The bathroom was tight, but again, highly functional. The front desk staff were all very helpful and extremely friendly. I can't say enough about the location. It's on the border of Chinatown and Little Italy, so there are many restaurants to choose from, as well as a great breakfast diner a... Read more

We should have guessed when the room comes with earplugs. It sounds like you are sleeping next to the trucks and semi-trailers and the room vibrates with the subways. Luckily we were exhausted enough to sleep. The room was tiny. So small only one person could walk past the bed to the toilet at of each time. On the positive side the amenities were good the room was clean and the staff were friendly. I think this was very overpriced. Also the area was great

City Rooms SOHO is a perfectly fine budget hotel. Clean, if small rooms, friendly staff and a pretty good location. The one thing to know - and it's really important if you're a light sleeper - is that it sits on top of the subway. And it feels like a minor earthquake...every 8 minutes. They leave ear plugs next to the bed, which is very thiguhtful, but if you have trouble sleeping this may not be the right fit for you.

Room 405 was just what we needed, nothing more, nothing less. Quite small, but clean. The room had a window to Lafayette st., and I enjoyed watching the busy street at night. The hotel is situated 30 meters from the subway station (green line), which made it easy to get around. The staff was super friendly, and had heaps of tips. We stayed for 7 nights.

I would definitely stay here again. Location was great. Although small the room was modern and clean and everything we needed. The staff were are very helpful and friendly. One day it was raining a little and the lady from reception came out to offer us an umbrella to take with us, this was a lovely gesture.

Because I was looking for hotels specifically in Soho area and tried not to spend a lot in accomodations I chosed this hotel that use to be known as Hotel Azure also. The location is great, few steps on the right and you are in Soho, few on the left is China town and one street over is Little Italy. The hotel is a simple place, small lobby and rooms but then I'm not in NYC to spend time in the room. The room was just enough for 2 people, small bathroom also. The bed an pillows were comfortable, ... Read more

A excellent budget choice for lower Manhattan. Hotel is very basic but clean and easily located near several subway stops. The staff is very eager to please and the rooms are bigger than some more expensive places I've stayed at in Manhattan (my room had a view of the new One World Trade Center and Canal Street). We had some minor issues with getting replacement door cards but I chalk that up to that particular room's door RFD needing to be replaced. The staff went the mile to help with this ... Read more

A nice friendly greeting but the room was disappointing. We booked a Queen sized deluxe room. The bed was Queen sized but it took up almost all of the deluxe (not) room. There was no wardrobe and no drawers. the bed was pushed up against the wall will very little room to squeeze past the bottom. There was a clothes rail but it was only about a foot long. We had to live out of our suitcases, which we had to store on the window ledge, for the whole of our 4 day stay. I appreciate that NY hotel r... Read more

After reading other Trip Advisor reviews, we chose this hotel because the location sounded perfect, the facility sounded clean, there was AC, the staff sounded friendly, and the price was reasonable. We were not disappointed!! We had a WONDERFUL stay!! The water refill station and other basic supplies in the lobby are a really nice touch. We were able to refill our water bottles each day before we began our adventures and refill again at night upon our return. There was also a mini-fridge a... Read more

Convenient access to the subway and a few different lines which will take you in all directions of the city. The staff are lovely, although rooms are snug I figure for the price and location it's worth it. Check out Ship Bar and Nomo which are just around the block

This hotel was great for us (my wife and I) but not be for everyone. If you've never been to New York City before all of the rooms are small unless you are willing to shell out hundreds of dollars per night. Additionally, the location is great if you would prefer something closer to an actual New York City experience than what you would find closer to Times Square or Central Park. That said, it is a great hotel for the price. Pros: 1. Very helpful and friendly staff 2. Free Wifi 3. Location (on... Read more

This hotel is very conveniently located on the edge of Chinatown & Soho. There is a lot of local hustle bustle around the hotel as you would expect for NY. The Canal station is a stone's throw from the hotel with the J,N, Q, R, Z & 6 lines all having stops here. This station allows easy access to the rest of Manhattan, to Brooklyn & as well to Penn & Grand Central stations. The hotel does exist on top of subway lines however, so there is a gentle ongoing rumble that does occur which was not v... Read more

Friendly staff, clean room, great location! I'm used to the city noise so it wasn't loud, but if you like your quiet when you sleep...I would reconsider. I had a room facing Canal St, and it can get quite noisy...but then again, that's the whole nyc vibe :)

we booked the deluxe room as we were there for a whole week with bags and knowing how small NYC hotels can be decided we needed a little space. The bed was enormous with plenty of room for the bags and 2 of us..We were on the 3rd floor overlooking Layfayette Street and expected road noise but didn't have a problem or the need to use the provided earplugs. The staff were all friendly and greeted us each time with a smile. This hotel is close to lots of subways, great dining and the area is busy, ... Read more

We booked this room for a short leg of our trip to explore NYC! We really enjoyed our stay here; the room was clean, pretty easy to get to via subway and within walking distance from a lot of cool stuff! The staff were very friendly and attentive and we really enjoyed their continual presence in the secure lobby. Bonus feature: If you are considering a bus tour of Uptown/Downtown Manhatten, we booked with Big Bus Tours and our stop was almost right out the front! Very easy!! Definately will ... Read more

I was a bit dubious about our booking here but it turned out to be just perfect. This place was very good value. I cant really fault much. Reception staff were polite and very helpful whenever we had a problem and were able to pre-book us a taxi for our journey back to the airport and there is coffee available every morning. The rooms - small yes. Very cosy and the bed was soooo comfortable! Make sure you like the person you will be sharing with!! There isnt a cupboard for clothes, just a... Read more

This room fit 2 people nicely....although it was small it was only a couple blocks to Chinatown and Little Italy...The staff was very helpful and pleasant and gave us some tips on places to eat. I loved the fact that this hotel recycles the things used in rooms such as pipes for coat/clothes to hang/crates attached to walls as storage, etc. Also soap and shampoo is being saved by using the wall units in shower....The only negative I can say is that the elevator had a very unpleasant/unusual sme... This hotel features small rooms so if you're not into that, move on. If you are into small rooms (and super low prices), this place is a great choice. Not only is it in a super great location : right in the middle of all the action of Soho and Chinatown and directly adjacent to the Subway, but this place is super clean and the staff are welcoming and friendly. If you want an inexpensive and simple room in New York, this should be a consideration.

A small but very cosy place to stay. Staff was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Cant speak highly enough of the service and very helpful with bookings etc Small room but had all the requirements for 2 singles, bathroom was great. 5th floor no intrusive noise except for police ambos etc . the location was perfect just 2 mns from subway. in the middle of Soho with China town, Little Italy a whisker away , Delancey and Hester st within easy walking distance very good value

We have stayed at a lot of places in NYC and this was the best so far. Modern, clean, roomy room, wonderful staff and great location. We will definitely be staying there again on our next visit. Also, being so close to Chinatown and Little Italy are worth a mention, so much to see and do!

All staff we met during our stay were helpful and welcoming. The twin room we booked was a good size however we had to live out our suitcases as there isn't much storage space - only a small rail. The room came with earplugs which were needed as the noise from the traffic outside made it difficult to sleep. Good location but probably wouldnt be staying here again.
