We recently spent eight nights in a corner room (#902), which has large windows overlooking busy 8th Avenue. The very well maintained room has a sofa, a desk and desk chair, a Keurig coffee maker, a refrigerator, and a microwave. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. We bought breakfast fixings at the nearby Food Emporium supermarket, and two nights we had a light supper in the room. We were pleased with the housekeeping and the good elevator service. A group of coworkers and I travel annually to NYC for a conference, and this year were forced to find a new hotel for our week-long stay. We chose the Hilton Garden Inn based primarily on location and price, and couldn't have been happier with our decision! Every one of my coworkers commented on the friendliness of the staff, the overall cleanliness of the hotel, and the fact that we've never had an easier check in/out process at any of the other hotels we've stayed at over the years. We stayed at this hotel for one week and had a great time. This hotel is within walking distance of Times Square, Rockfeller building and central park. Very clean and the rooms were massive! Beds were very comfortable too. There are lots of charging points in the rooms, a big tv, safe, iron and ironing board. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking 8th avenue. It was a bit noisy which is to be expected but the windows cancelled most of it out. We had breakfast across the road at times square ... Read more

The hotel is just off the theater district and surprisingly quiet given the location. I was worried when I found ear plugs in the room. The rooms are small, but very nice and the beds comfortable. I felt very safe walking around the area at night. There is a market right around the corner and microwave and refrigerator in the room which was a nice surprise.

We spent Memorial Day weekend. Our room in the 11th floor was very comfortable, with an excellent city view (choose even numbered rooms), a renewed bathroom, and a refrigerator, not common in all hotels. Access to Broadway, Rockefeller Center, and the subway were ideal. We slept like babies despite being right in the middle of everything. The staff were very courteous and understanding of our every need. We will definitely be back!

I made my hotel reservation on the internet and then I confirmed my price and booking over the phone. I then printed everything just in case. Thankfully I printed my confirmed price because my hotel reservation magically changed by an extra $400! The only thing that saved me was my printed confirmation which is what made one of the managers honor my confirmed price. I highly advise every prints their confirmed price.

A wonderful hotel to stay for our short visit to NYC. Great location - within walking distance to Broadway shows, Central Park, numerous restaurants and bars and subway stops. Room was very clean - excellent service from the entire hotel staff - front desk, bellman, housekeeping and concierge. We had a room on the 4th floor facing 8th Ave - had no problem with outside noise in the evening. Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel. It is a great location and walking distance to Times Square (1 block away), the Broadway shows, Central Park, roof top bars, and a lot of eating options. The Hilton Garden Inn has Charles, who is a truly fun and knowledgeable guy when it comes to finding out what's nearby. Ask him anything! The hotel itself is on a busy street, which is great for people watching but can be challenging if you want a little less noise at night. As noted in other reviews, ask to stay on the other side of the hotel, on a higher floor, if possible. It helps. We were lucky because we had a little bit of a nice view from our 11th floor window. I like staying at Hilton hotel properties and this location didn't disappoint. The rooms were not flashing nor is the lobby. Just a good old fashion hotel. There is a connected restaurant/bar which was nice and a big table in the lobby if you wanted to work. This is also probably one of the few downtown NYC hotels that has a coffee maker in the room (for those who do not always prefer Starbucks). I will be staying here again.

The best thing about his hotel is that the theaters, time square, subway, etc. are very close. Currently, there is not a restaurant/bar in the hotel, but there are a multitude of options nearby. The hotel looks looks like an older structure, but also like it had been renovated in the past couple years. Furnishings look fairly new. The bathrooms are a little small. Even number rooms face Eighth St. and odd numbers face the wall of the building behind the hotel.

We usually stay at the Hilton Garden Inn next to Herald Square when visiting NYC but it was sold out for our dates so we took a chance and stayed in this hotel closer to Times Square. We were seeing two shows on Broadway so the convenience factor was definitely a plus. The beds were comfy. Bathroom is very small though, even by NYC standards. We expected this and weren't terribly inconvenienced, but I do always like it when hotels put the toilet and shower in separate rooms. The one thing I... Read more

We really enjoyed the location of this Hilton, you can walk to theaters, restaurants and the half price ticket booth. However the room was very small. It contained a fridge and microwave so we could have a snack, but you had to sit on the bed to do so. The restaurant breakfast buffet was high priced and you could not order something smaller than the buffet for a more reasonable cost.

We stayed at this hotel for my husband's birthday weekend celebration. Loved the location. My only complaint was that our room was located near the ice machine, which was a little annoying to hear every time someone used it. I'm sure if I requested a room change the moment I realized this machine was there, the hotel would have made a room change.

Everyone was so friendly and so very helpful. We had a good size room that was very clean. The housekeeper always worked around our schedule. The beds were amazing. So comfortable! A great experience!

Little confusing that the lobby is not on first floor. Wasn't as easy to get a cab as you might think but luckily so much is in walking distance. We had a fancy dinner in the restaurant - little pricy was good. Staff very helpful at checkout when we had tons of luggage for a cruise.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel from Oct 14-16, 2016. We have stayed at this hotel 3-4 times in the past and never had a problem. Hotel is clean and employees have always been courteous. My husband's jacket turned up missing, which we are 95% sure was in our room. We searched and searched our luggage and the room but no jacket. On our way out my husband reported the jacket missing to a front desk manager named Tennile. My husband called me over to explain to her about the missing jac... Read more

I stayed one night and my only disappointment was the restaurant (and therefore room service) being closed at this time. The location is outstanding if you want to be in Times Square, midtown. The room was good size for New York but showed its use. The bed was very comfortable! My only concern was that unlike the Hilton Garden Inn on 42nd (or other hotels) there was no card key security in the elevator so anyone could walk in the lobby and go up to room floors. I was even told by front desk t... Read more

This hotel is in a great location and it's easy to get around Manhattan from here. The staff is quite accommodating. Most of all, the rooms are surprisingly 'big' when compared to a typical big city hotel room. Highly recommended and I'd definitely stay here again.

The hotel is in a very central location just around off Times Square - lots of great stuff going on around about - good bars, restaurants, central park, shopping within a few minutes walk. The hotel rooms are spacious and ideal (some with 2x double beds) - the beds are super comfortable. The bathrooms are clean. Overall the rooms were much better than we were anticipating. Though the restaurant and bar are being refurbished, the hotel did let us know before we arrived. The staff were very fri... Read more

This hotel currently has no food and drink facilities so don't stay here if you are looking for room service, a bar or breakfast/dinner options. The restaurant is closed until next year I understand. Also be careful in selecting a room. We paid for a deluxe room which looked out on to a brick wall. On the positive side it is clean, beds are very comfortable, the staff are friendly and the location is excellent.

Stayed at this hotel in October. Firstly the good parts, the location is fantastic and one of the most central locations in NYC. The hotel is walking distance to Times Square with most theater shows close and good dining options around. Nice diner across the road actually, and Food Emporium and Starbucks a block away. The hotel itself was very different, the staff never welcomed you as you arrived or left, or once offered to help with bags as I arrived or left. Only upon check-in did they menti... Read more

Recently returned from 4 days in Midtown. First trip to Manhattan and the location of this hotel and the staff made it an easy trip. The concierge is very helpful in planning your day and getting you through the subways. Breakfast is a full buffet with eggs (omelets or scrambled depending on the day), yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, cereals, coffee, juice, pastries, toast, waffles... all very fresh, full and yummy. Great location in the heart of Manhattan, the only downside is the noise outside but its kind of expected, just take your ear plugs. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and check in was very swift. I stay over 150 hotel nights per year. See all the major brands. Yet, I never had an experience like the one I had at this hotel. In short, while I was still occupying my room before a 1 PM late check out that was approved, the hotel actually reissued my room to another guest. When I came to my room at 12 noon, for a phone call, I noticed the room had been made up-no big deal. Not so clean, elevators take very long on Saturday morning at 10am we had to wait over 5 minutes and we walked down the 10 floors. Staff is not to knowledgeable and very young. You would think with a young staff they would be up on things in the area but they have no clue so used Yelp & tripadvisor. The restaurant next door is a total ripoff so beware. There are MANY Hilton's in the Times Square area and we were so pleased with this one. It is the one at 136 W 42nd, that means it is between Broadway and 6th Ave and 1/2 block from the Sondheim Theatre. That was great luck because we came out of a matinee performance there to find the skies had opened up so we only had to dash across the street to get to our hotel. We stayed in for the night and had a great meal in the hotel restaurant. But, even aside from that one unusual event, it was pret... Read more

Disappointing hotel, generally feels rundown. Poor shower, weak water and no detachable shower head. Cheap and nasty (plastic?) curtains on the window do not close tight at either the side or in the middle letting light shine in after dawn. Someone else has had this problem; their solution has been to staple the curtains into the wall. These have now come out, so the light gets in and the edges of the curtains have broken and twisted staples embedded in them. Noisy air con. Bin not emptied on fi... Read more

The location is terrific: near all theaters, restaurants, busy action of Times Square. We were disappointed at the rather surly service attitude, but very happy with the room. Small things like real glasses instead of cardboard ones were lacking. Although the room certainly accommodates two, there is only soap, shampoo and conditioner for one. No reading lights. Otherwise room was fine. Next time we will stay at the Waldorf Astoria -- a little further away, but much classier.

Great hotel, great location, friendly staff! We had a great trip. Like most NYC hotels, the rooms are smaller than a typical double room, but there was still enough room that a family of 4 wasn't falling over each other. There was a microwave and fridge in the room and we had a good view of the ball in Times Square from our room on the 26th floor.

Positives: Fabulous location, so close to many theaters! Easy, fast check-in; quick elevators; large, clean rooms. Negatives: our 11th floor room looks out onto a featureless brick wall; mushy pillows that go flat in the middle and the ends puff up and wrap around your ears. The positives far outweigh the negatives though: location, location, location!
