Stayed 2 nights on a weekend about $300 per night. 32 floors, 2 elevators, small lobby. Good service helpful staff. Typical Hampton free breakfast. Room was very clean, comfortable bed, tight shower. Walking distance to subway, Times Square, Theater District. No complaints.

On first impression, the Hotel lobby was small, but in New York City that is to be expected. Overall, the hotel was a tight squeeze. The rooms were very nice, although small. Breakfast was pretty bad. Breakfast quality varied greatly every day. I wouldn't touch the eggs on my first morning, the second morning they looked a little bit better, but not much. I was mainly disappointed with the breakfast. Location was great.

If going to the theater--this is a great hotel -- a little less pricey than some just one or two blocks closer and nicer beds and room size than some. We were able to walk everywhere, to several theaters and restaurants, and never needed a taxi or subway. The room was spacious, by Manahattan standards, and we were able to have a king size bed versus a double offered at a more expensive hotel down the street. We'll stay here again!

I really was very pleasantly surprised at the size of the room for this Hampton Inn as I had been repeatedly told most NY hotel rooms are very small in size. My stay was for 3 nights. The beds were comfortable, the elevators were fast enough, the breakfast was decent and the breakfast staff was super nice and welcoming; really enjoyed chatting with them each morning. The front desk and bell staff were very friendly and helpful. The lobby area is small but that is something I'd expect anyway.... Read more

They valet' my truck!!!! That's huge for me as I was in NYC on business with lots of equipment. Cans and ubers after that. The staff was incredibly friendly! The room was very clean and felt updated and ready for business. Loved the USB ports built into the front of the night stands as I forgot my plug but not the cable. I will stay here again.

I do not really like to go to NY and pick a hotel but after a lot of hesitation we picked this hotel. We had a wonderful experience from the time we stepped into the lobby until we left. The front desk was so nice to us. We checked our bags and were able to go off to our appointment with out worry. We arrived at the city early. The hotel is near Penn Station, walking distance. Stayed at this hotel in August 2013 and August 2015. This hotel is perfectly located to everything New York City has to offer but far enough from the noise. We always had restful sleeps. The hotel is narrow, only 6 rooms per floor, but many floors. Both times we stayed on lower floors so we could use the stairs. We heard complaints about waiting for the elevator. Our view was not great but we did not come to New York to sit in the hotel room. The breakfast was a nice way to start off our day.... Read more

I enjoyed our stay here. However, the night was cool and beautiful and I really wanted fresh air in the room and our windows only opened about an inch or two. So that was a little disappointing but besides that great place to stay. If I were them I would add a little more variety to the complimentary breakfast as well.

Breakfast greeter was especially nice, cheerful, helpful with directions and very friendly. Naturally, she was from the mid-west. Room: Clean, average tiny NY hotel room but had everything we needed. Great value for the price we paid. TV went on the fritz but the staff were quick to remedy the problem. Breakfast: lots of variety during the week we stayed. Arrive early as it tends to get busy. Location: perfect. We were able to walk to most attractions. I had to go down for the pillows after two calls and over 4 hours of waiting the first day we arrived. Little did I know this was a normal thing. Finally went down and got them myself. Pleasant stay, great location. I give an average review because that's what this hotel is. Average. It was clean, friendly staff...request housekeeping early because your room may be the last. It is busy, so although tempting to be on a high floor I would pick the 2nd floor just so I could use the stairs as the elevator can become crowded and the wait is long. I had read reviews about a busy breakfast, but it wasn't too bad. Overall...the location is the best. I would stay here again.

There was a very strong men's cologne scent, my friend had her baby there and I'm sure she smelled it too. There was no shower gel, as we pulled up to the hotel to take the stroller out we began to have second thoughts, there were at least 8-10 huge blue plastic bins with thousands of towels on the side walk in front of the hotel. It made sense when the smell of the towels in our own room didn't smell fresh at all, one almost made me throw up when I used it after the shower. It smelled like huma... Read more

This budget friendly hotel was just that, budget friendly it really didn't offer any thing spectacular other than being a five minute walk from time square. The rooms were Too Tight (small) and the lobby was even smaller. There was no where to spread out other than to go out. To sum it all up quickly stay here if you want to be close to Time Square don't stay here if you need a lot of room. Other than that the staff was wonderful and attentive, breakfast was included, the hotel was clean and qui... Read more

Booked this through Travelocity, and to be honest, I wasn't expecting anything incredible. I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the room...It was immaculate, perfect, freshly updated, and extremely comfortable. I would have stayed a second night, but it would have been almost double the rate of the first. I am shocked this is only considered a 3* far the nicest Hampton I have ever stayed in.

The hotel itself was perfectly fine. The folks at reception were great. You could tell they enjoyed their jobs and were friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and clean, lots of plugs. Nice touch that they handed out breakfast bags to go. Came in handy as I had to run out both mornings and could not enjoy the free breakfast buffet. Also warm cookies in the evening work for me! Now the down side. It it the neighborhood. It is not the hotels fault. It is society's fault. I hav... Read more

We tend to stay at Hampton Inns when traveling - especially along the highway. Always clean, good service - and beds that are comfortable for all of us. This Hampton was excellent - and our first experience of staying in one in NYC. Room was small for 4 people - but nothing out of the ordinary for the city. Service was excellent. Location perfect.

We've stayed here three times now in the last year, and it's been consistently good. Up to date property, rooms are decent sized for New York city, and the location provides easy access to just about everything in mid-town Manhattan. On our past stays, while they were doing renovations, the elevators were admittedly slow, which during busy times could get a bit frustrating (I think only one worked), but on this past visit, both were operational and we never waited for more than a few minutes. ... I have stayed at this hotel twice a year for 5 years. It's a great location. They renovated the rooms in 2016, changed the layout in the rooms which made the space smaller than before. Not happy about that

I booked this hotel because at the time of booking it was a competitive rate and I always stay within the Hilton family of brands. However when I got there I was disappointed. The lobby feels more like a youth hostel with all of the people coming and going, and the location is on a street that feels almost out of the city. I think it might be because the Lincoln Tunnel is right there but it feel more like something you'd find off the highway than an urban city centre hotel. I decided to leav... Read more

Good hotel centrally located. Nice room. Great bed. No problems with lift. Good breakfast. Friendly staff at reception. Not a great immediate area but close to Penn station. Overall a very satisfactory hotel.

I booked this hotel for a business stay in Manhattan. My room was extremly clean and I got very good sleeps without any noises and issues! The price was not so bad because IT was very closed to The fashion week and The position is good, IT is very close to Times Sq. and central park is not so far if running is one of your favourite activties!!!

We had booked another hotel two doors away. Upon checking the room and being dissatisfied, we went to the Hampton and were pleased to be greeted by very friendly and helpful staff(Fildys Diaz). The rooms were clean, beds comfortable and room quiet. We enjoyed our breakfasts every morning due to a very courteous breakfast team who seemed to enjoy serving the guests. Isaiah is a top notch employee whom strived to make the guests happy.

I spent 5 nights here in September. Pros: a quite good location close to metro and Penn Station, reasonable price, small but ok rooms, rapid elevator, 1st class internet, very helpful and rapid staaf. Cons: a quite noisy street (one of the feeders to the Lincoln tunnel, I heard the sounds of 1000 different car horns these days) despite 3-glass windows, added noise from cross-street constructions, breakfast to large extent "canned". Overall a strong 3 out of 5 rating.

My stay was in general stable, however, staff wasn't as friendly or very enthusiastic to help or listen to our requests. Most of things i needed weren't available when i asked for. However, the porter at the gate was excellent help during departure, but when we arrived we had to carry our luggage by our selves because there was no one available to help, that caused a medical problem for my shoulder.

Good location, a few blocks walk over to attractions. Slow elevators can be a pain, be prepared to wait. Breakfast was a zoo, but its ok with a little patience, but location and staff were great, room was quiet, staff did a bag check for us with no problem and bag retrieval later that night was super fast. We would stay there again without hesitation.

What does a hotel in a big city need? Clean room, good breakfast and friendly staff. Hampton Inn South has it all 3! Very close to the subway and Times Square... do you need more? We liked it a lot. Love to come back

A friend and I stayed here for four nights from Oct 3 to 7. Our stay was pretty much perfect. Our room was on the 4th floor and had a king bed. The room was small, but this is what we expected for NYC. The room was very clean and comfortable. The space is well used and we had no trouble finding space for our things. The hotel was quiet, our room was across from the ice machine, but this really did not pose any problem. Staff were friendly and pleasant. The breakfast was very good....choi... Read more

Hotel was convenient to Times Square and transportation. The hotel was small, but was situated in an area that you can get to the theater, activity and subway. Staff was extremely gracious and helpful. Should probably have more staff during high check in and check out time.

Convenient location is the key here, in a quieter location in Manhattan. It has all that you need/expect from an Hampton, rooms are clean, modern and have all the basics. The rooms, like all room sin Manhattan are small, but perfectly adequate. Small bathroom with shower. They do have the room safe and coffee making, with large TV and desk. The gym is well equipped, but small. The breakfast room is adequate and breakfast is the usual Hampton Inn. If you want a quieter room one facing the back of... Read more

For being in NY, where friendly isn't always a guarantee, this staff did a phenomenal job. They were there to serve and made us feel great about staying at the Hampton Inn. We could easily go back to this hotel.

This is a great location and price - wonderful king size bed, probably the most comfortable of any hotel stay, very clean, space was tight but to be expected in NYC. Good shower and nice freeby toiletries. There are only 6 rooms per floor with two lifts, so a couple of times there was a wait, but nothing to worry about. Free Wi-Fi and a great breakfast were a real bonus. The staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed quiet hallways no noise from our neighbors. The free breakfast was very good as well as all day coffee and tea service. I was happy with the location of the hotel close to all the places I wanted to see. I would stay there again when I visit in the future.
