Nice enough hotel, room smaller than expected but with great location. Would have returned but have decided against for two reasons: 1. Husband and I had an omelette each plus just one coffee. Cost $80!! Ridiculously over priced. 2. Concierge promised us that the cost to buy a shuttle ticket through the hotel was the exact same price if bought directly from the shuttle provider. NOT TRUE. Was more expensive. V cheeky.

We had a 2 night stay at this hotel in Oct last year. Front desk staff greeting us was not enthusiastic about their job. The room was small but functional. Bathroom wasn't up to standard, had disgusting stains on door frame. Next day, we went out shopping for the day. House keeping didn't bother cleaning our room. Complaints were made. Follow up emails after the trip were never returned. Don't bother with this hotel!

This hotel is in a great location, being next to Grand Central Station and walking distance to a Times Square. Our check-in was quick and efficient, and our room was incredibly spacious, a big change from a typical Manhattan hotel. Our only complaint was that, other than the desk chair, there were no other chairs in the room. When I left a note regarding this for housekeeping, we returned that evening to find one had been brought up. The king size bed was very comfortable with crisp white li... Read more

The hotel is a convenient location near Central Station and can walk to Time Square and Broadway. Some close by restaurants, Starbuck cafe's and a CV Pharmacy across the street. Only issue with the room was the bathroom basin was a bit small and cramped by shelves and the touch button light switches did not work that well. The room was clean and staff friendly. My wife and I overall enjoyed our stay.

The bathroom was small; the toilet was a squeeze. The location was great as a base for seeing New York City. The in-room documentation of the hotel facilities was scant. The list of TV channels was all wrong, but the channels available were okay.

I stayed in that hotel for one night (luckily) on 28 May 2016. I should be happy as the hotel gave me a suite when I checked in in the late evening. However, I was frustrated at the end because, i) the toilet was not in right proportion. It is so small that I can not even make a turn in the shower room. ii) there were a plate of cheese and bread in the sitting room. The food appears to have been in the room for the whole afternoon. iii) the surface of all furiture was full of dusk. It look... Read more

My wife and I recently spent 4 nights at the Grand Hyatt New York. We were travelling for our wedding anniversary and the Hyatt were kind enough, not only to upgrade our room to a suite, but also to provide us with a bottle of wine and a cheese board upon check in. The room was very clean and modern, with a large screen TV and a good quality king-size bed. For a city centre, it was a good sized room; really the only fault I could find would be no coffee machine. We only had limited dealings wit... Read more

Then the room I had was roomy with a King size bed, view of the 42nd stree below with Cipriani across and a large screen tv. The Concierge was very helpful and knowledgeable. Disappointing is the best way to describe this hotel, it's ok but could be better. We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary and I'd booked a Club Room, when we checked in we were told we had been upgraded to a corner Executive room with views of the Chrysler building, well you can't see it when your room is facing the back alley of the hotel. The room itself was large with a walk in closet but the tiniest of bathrooms (why? it's smaller than the closet), the bat... Read more

The location of the hotel is great for exploring the city. However, the room I had was not particularly clean (I actually started to struggle with my dust allergy after the second night). My room was very dark as it looked out into a very narrow alley. When I returned to my room at 7 pm on the first night my room had not been cleaned - the cleaner told me it had been done and reluctantly came by to check it out (it was then cleaned). Nice 50"TV in the room. The room was ready when we got there and we were allowed a late check out when we requested it. My boyfriend and I just got back from this hotel today. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. First, I'll start with the good: excellent service, a great location, comfy bed and decent looking room. We often try to visit NYC during July 4th weekend due to the low rates. We paid around $434, including tax, for 2 nights in a king room. Which is a great price for this hotel. Recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt for a long weekend and it was OK. Service was great, and the hotel is very clean. Outstanding hotel, remarkably efficient, excellent staff, and perfect for the published author. The restaurant staff is outstanding, the rooms are clean, comfortable, and for New York, QUIET! If we have a complaint, it's that the acoustics outside the ballrooms aren't designed for receptions before the banquet. Oh, and it's a quick and easy walk to Grand Central Station and the Oyster Bar for fresh lobster.

My wife & I visited the Grand Hyatt in October with our three teenage sons, aged 13-17. We booked two executive rooms & we extremely pleased with them. The hotel kindly gave us interconnection rooms & we were pleasantly surprised with the room sizes as some of the reviews indicated that the rooms/bathrooms were extremely small, this was not the case. The receptionist were very helpful & the location suited us perfectly. We will definitely return.

I travel frequently for business and am in NY once a month for work. I've been staying at Grand Hyatt over the last few months (I've stayed there 6 times this year so far). The hotel is centrally located and easy to get to the touristy destinations. The hotel appeared to be in need of a make over. The carpeting seemed old and in need of repair. During my stay there we (3) elevators out and I had to walk from the 30th floor to many floors below to catch a working elevator. The service at the bar was marginal and my cost for a 3 night stay was a pricey for what I received. I had access to the club service (16th floor) and that was a bright spot in the overall stay.

The hotel is withing walking distance from Broadway and Times Square. It is also right beside Grand Central Station. The rooms are clean and comfortable, which to me is the most important thing when traveling. Of course, being in Manhattan, the rooms are not as large as the rooms in other Grand Hyatts (i.e. San Fran, DC); and you will hear the noise on the street. But what do you expect it's Manhattan?? I was in NYC on business and needed somewhere in this area. Hotel has a contemporary feel that extends to the rooms. I had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both were good. The rooms are comfortable with small bathroom and strangely no coffee machine for the morning. The mini fridge was sitting on its own in the corner and noisy so I unplugged it. Unfortunately I arrived late and got a room opposite the elevators. An 01 ending number. It was noisy because you could hear the elevator ann... Read more

Visited in October for business. Efficient staff help the place run well. MAID staff very kind. Central location works as near Bryant Park/Grand Central. The hotel itself has a rather worn look to it. Rooms have received a freshening up (hardwood floors) but overall - bland. The gym is too small for a property this size. Breakfast/lunch area was ok but wait staff excellent. It's expensive as expected for NY but that being said, could use a good scrubbing. Fix all the scratches in the elevators, ... Read more

We got a great deal on this hotel so worked out quite reasonable. We got the cheapest room available - an ADA Queen, as we literally needed somewhere to sleep at night and explore by day. The hotel is so big and impressive as you walk into the foyer, staff were very helpful, and check-in was super fast. We arrived 15 minutes before official check-in time but we were able to check-in right away. There seemed to be more business-people than tourists staying here, but that made no difference to us... Great location, staff most attentive, food was adequate, very busy but it's a conference hotel not a boutique hotel so expectations were known and met. It's simply a very busy atmosphere. Best situated Hyatt property right next to Grand Central is a big dissapointment. This hotel desperately needs a renovation. Peeling wall paper, old furniture like plastic sofa seater, and dirty hallways, it left us wondering: is Hyatt just giving up on this property, or has management given up? Staff was nice and professional as expected of Hyatt, and food was good, but pricey. If nicely renovated, this could be a crown jewel.
