My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in June 2015. The hotel is in a brilliant location - extremely close to Times Square. The rate for our room was very reasonable. The staff were very friendly and polite without imposing in any way. We stayed in a classic room which was very clean and comfortable. Surprisingly it was very quiet within our room (even though it's located in a busy area) so we were able to sleep well and make the most of our holiday. We are returning to NYC in December 201... The location of the Hotel Edison is awesome! So close to the Theatre District and Times Square. Rooms were kept nice and clean, and the room was very quiet. The room where me and my girl friends stayed the bathroom is extremely small. You have just enough room to turn around. With 4 of us, there was really no room in the bathroom to put our items. The only other issue we had was the ELEVATORS!!! They were horrible. I don't know if they were all running, or if they had problems, but we wa... Read more

Our stay at the Hotel Edison was good. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We arrived early to the hotel and prechecked in. Had our luggage stored until we returned from our sightseeing. When we entered our hotel room, there was a nice surprise for the kids. There were three small gift bags with a balloon tied to each bag for the kids. That was a nice surprise and unexpected! The hotel room was nice and quaint with a street view. The hotel was right around the corner from Time Square! The bathro... Read more

We went to NYC for a couple of days of theater. The Edison is a few feet from Times Square and across the street from a Broadway Theater. The hotel seems to attract a tourist group audience because the lobby was filled with groups checking in and the wait at the elevator was long if you hit a group arrival. The staff was friendly and competent; but at times overwhelmed by the groups. The room was small by US standards, but pretty normal by NYC standards. It was clean and well maintained. ... Read more

A bit late with the review - we visited February 2015 and found the hotel central for all we needed. The rooms were a little tired but very clean and warm. Most of the staff were very helpful and the door men were great even though they were outside in a foot of snow. Very handy for the subway, bars and restaurants - great coffee at the store next door. Would stay here again if we get back to New York

Room and staff were all excellent. Was like a "Home Alone" hotel. Bell hops, concierge, security and fantastic entrance and lobby decor. Down sides...Wi-Fi very expensive to hire and no dining room in the hotel. A small pub was attached to the hotel, but this was also quite pricey. It is very well located for all the Broadway shows, Times Square ( less than a minutes walk) and for sight seeing. We would deffo go back there.

I arrived around 3 pm on a very hot and humid day. There was a line-up to check in but it moved quickly as there were 3 or 4 agents working. I got the divine Miss M, who I remembered from last year. She's still as lovely, kind, efficient and professional as I remembered. I had reserved a Signature room and was very delighted with it on the 19th floor. It was spotless and tastefully decorated. Our first experience was with a male who had a non American accent who was from welcoming. This was followed by a prolonged wait for an elevator that took a ridiculous amount of time to get to us. Followed up by walking into a tiny room that had its air conditioner held in place by cardboard and tape and made the noise of a light plane. Then we found that if you pulled the blind down to keep the light out, that you blocked off the air from the air conditioner. With the summer temperatures in NY... Read more

The hotel has been under renovations though we didn't see any evidence of construction at all. The lobby is absolutely stunning, faithfully and tastefully renovated in Art Deco style. The rooms are the same. We booked a standard room, the room was quite small which is apparently normal for NYC, but the fit out seemed poorly thought out. The best thing about this hotel is the location; right in times square so it is great for tourists. There was usually a long line for the elevators so we wanted to take the stairs and you always had to ask to have the stairwell opened for you. Well don't come here on your honeymoon! But if you need a relatively cost efficient stay in NY, typically a stone throw away from Times Square and all the theaters then this is an OK choice. Rooms are pretty old but comfortable. Water in pipes seems to be rusty, I had to run the tap for a few minutes until water stopped coming out brown! I'm here on business so hotel was picked by a colleague so I dont have much expectations.... In other words you get what you pay for.

Very close to Times Square just in the corner of M&M's shop. We stayed 9 days in the hotel the most pleasing side was very close to 2 different subway entrances and despite that it was very close to Times Square we were not disturbed by noise. except one morning where they were doing a road repair close by. Neatness and cleanliness is normal, not to except any luxury but a decent Hotel.

The Edison is ideally situated for Time Sq, room at the back without view but surprisingly quiet. Decor very tired but linen sparkling white. Staff very helpful, especially security, Sam on reception and luggage storage staff on day of departure, only 50c per case . Would stay there again.

Just left the Edison I have gave it 5 stars because from Check in to check out all the staff where amazing always happy to help and always smiling. Our room was very big for four people 2 adults and 2 children two queen size beds and very clean and tidy and enough room for two 8 year olds to play hide and seek and run around in. Literally 50 steps from time square We definitely will be going back thank you hotel Edison for making our stay so memorable

This hotel may have been one of the worst hotels I have ever visited. First off, the cost of this hotel was so high for what we got, you don't get what you paid for with this hotel. Second, the room is equivalent to a life sized shoe boxed that is hard to breath in, trying to get sleep in this hotel was near-impossible and the air-con was so noisy coming from one of their service rooms which they said they could not do anything about, i'm sure people around my room on the second floor could hear... Great location as it's only a block away from Times Square. Friendly staff and security to greet you each time you leave and return. The room was small but the art decor was appealing. Must be a busy hotel as we often had to wait for lift.

Literally less than a minute away from Time Square and all the Broadway shows. Deli's, Roof top bars, Restaurants, Hop on Hop off bus 2 minutes walk. Beautiful Art Deco hotel, all staff are excellent and the concierge secured us great tickets to Jersey Boys and On your Feet. We got kindly upgraded to a newly refurbished room with chocolates, Edison Teddy with free Wi-Fi as it was our Anniversary and what a lovely touch. Security, doorman always greeted with a smile. The positioning of this hotel is the big selling point - you are about 20 yards from Time Square with easy access to the subway (29 usd for a 7 day pass ) Another plus is the close proximity to the theatres however this does mean access by taxi can be very slow at peak periods (my son had booked a show on our first evening and exited the taxi to get there quicker by walking !) Reception check in was very smooth and quick with clear information on the services available - although other than ad... Read more

Wish I took a photo, as it was nothing, nothing, like those nice clean, modern, terribly misleading photos on their website. Walked into my room, sighed, and immediately went to the desk to ask for my money back. Which they did not do, adding to the full New York Ripoff Experience, but I would not stay here for any price. Room was dirty, wallpaper peeling off walls. Bathroom smelled bad. Would have been impossible to sleep given location beyond screeching elevators. This is in no way a... Read more

just back from 4 nights. Location is excellent, just off time's square, great deli next door for breakfast. Stayed in standard room on 11th floor. Room was in need of updating but good size and perfect for 4 adults for 4 nights. Recommend ear plugs because it can take getting used to the noise. We would definitely stay here again.

The Hotel Edison gave us a warm welcome to New York following our 5 hour flight delay. We had booked a classic 1x double bed room but when we checked in we were given a complimentary upgrade to a renovated 2 x double bed room with free WiFi which we were so grateful of. The room was spacious, which I understand is completely unheard of in New York! The beds were comfy and the room was kept really clean. The location is the best thing about this hotel. A girlfriend and I recently stayed at The Edison Hotel in Times Square to celebrate our birthdays!! We were so pleased with the location, friendly, attentive staff and the cleanliness of the room!! The property has a fabulous charm and we would highly recommend staying there on any future trips to Manhattan!! We had additional interaction with the security staff (Jonathan and Alex) regarding an outerwear item that we left in the room, they arranged for prompt return of the item and were so in... Read more

This was 9.30pm and we were very tired and not impressed as our rooms was not only taken but the hotel was fully booked for our whole stay of 6 days...What a disaster. I recently stayed at this hotel for my first visit to NYC. I received prompt attention at the reception. My room was on the 7th Floor, very clean and comfortable. The compact bathroom was well equipped, and I had no trouble with the shower. I overlooked a parking area, opposite a theatre, which was quiet at night, so I was not disturbed at night, including any noise from the nearby elevators. The storage areas were sufficient for my needs, but may have been small for 2 people. All the sta... Read more

Eight of us stayed for 4 nights in early November. Location is perfect for Times Square and Midtown Theatres. The hotel is Art Deco and the reception area is splendid (apparently it was used as a location in The Godfather film) and the staff were efficient. Waiting time to check-in and get the room pass was under 5 minutes. The lifts/elevators are being renovated, so only 4 of 6 are working, which means wait times can run into many minutes, especially at peak times. The rooms were perfectly adeq... Read more

My friend has been going to this hotel for more than ten years. It's now been redone and the rooms are nicely done with those new European air conditioners and gorgeous bathrooms. We had a room on the second floor above the entrance. Surprising not too street level noisy but the computer room, drink machines and maintenance room had many people talking in hallways. No breakfast so you can go next door to the grocery where there are hot choices and a place to eat upstairs. Great location for... Read more

Just enjoyed a 4- day visit to New York City. We stayed at the centrally located Hotel Edison in the Times Square area. A very safe and secure hotel with close proximity to restaurants , theatres and all tourist attractions. Clean and welcoming...quiet, well equipped rooms (we were on the 11th floor). I stayed here from the 9th of November- 14th. The location is amazing right outside Times Square and is accessible to anywhere needed(shops etc). However the hotel itself is very outdated. The curtains had mold at the end of them and you could just about close the bathroom door and have enough room. For the money that I paid I expected to have a decent room with enough space to walk around. They had great service which gave a spark to the hotel. I have visited 53 countries in total. Have been to New York City several times. Edison is absolutely the worst hotel ever, especially the first impression upon checking-in. I asked Youseuf (or similar spelling) for an upper floor room. He snickered and said, "You get what you booked." I told him there was no option available from the online booking, he ignored me. Mixed feelings about this hotel. The location is great and the rooms are clean and fairly big. But that doesn't make up for some of the flaws. TINY elevators and when we stayed, not all were in service. Many times, by the time the elevator reached us, it was already full. This often meant long waits for elevators or choosing to take the stairs. Street noise is terrible if your room faces 47th street. They clearly have done nothing to cancel noise, such as fitting the windows with soundproof glas... Read more

We spent six nights here in November. Location was unbeatable, but be prepared for a tiny room. I could barely get down my side of the bed and the air con/ heater was then very close to me and very noisey.
