My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in June 2015. The hotel is in a brilliant location - extremely close to Times Square. The rate for our room was very reasonable. The staff were very friendly and polite without imposing in any way. We stayed in a classic room which was very clean and comfortable. Surprisingly it was very quiet within our room (even though it's located in a busy area) so we were able to sleep well and make the most of our holiday. We are returning to NYC in December 201... Very convenient location for seeing the sights and attractions in the Theatre District. Pros: clean and comfortable room, friendly staff, excellent location. Cons: long wait time for elevators, inconsistent Wifi speed

The location of the Hotel Edison is awesome! So close to the Theatre District and Times Square. Rooms were kept nice and clean, and the room was very quiet. The room where me and my girl friends stayed the bathroom is extremely small. You have just enough room to turn around. With 4 of us, there was really no room in the bathroom to put our items. The only other issue we had was the ELEVATORS!!! They were horrible. I don't know if they were all running, or if they had problems, but we wa... Read more

Our stay at the Hotel Edison was good. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We arrived early to the hotel and prechecked in. Had our luggage stored until we returned from our sightseeing. When we entered our hotel room, there was a nice surprise for the kids. There were three small gift bags with a balloon tied to each bag for the kids. That was a nice surprise and unexpected! The hotel room was nice and quaint with a street view. The hotel was right around the corner from Time Square! The bathro... Read more

We went to NYC for a couple of days of theater. The Edison is a few feet from Times Square and across the street from a Broadway Theater. The hotel seems to attract a tourist group audience because the lobby was filled with groups checking in and the wait at the elevator was long if you hit a group arrival. The staff was friendly and competent; but at times overwhelmed by the groups. The room was small by US standards, but pretty normal by NYC standards. It was clean and well maintained. ... Read more

A bit late with the review - we visited February 2015 and found the hotel central for all we needed. The rooms were a little tired but very clean and warm. Most of the staff were very helpful and the door men were great even though they were outside in a foot of snow. Very handy for the subway, bars and restaurants - great coffee at the store next door. Would stay here again if we get back to New York

Room and staff were all excellent. Was like a "Home Alone" hotel. Bell hops, concierge, security and fantastic entrance and lobby decor. Down sides...Wi-Fi very expensive to hire and no dining room in the hotel. A small pub was attached to the hotel, but this was also quite pricey. It is very well located for all the Broadway shows, Times Square ( less than a minutes walk) and for sight seeing. We would deffo go back there.

Brought my family of 4 to NYC for Broadway Shows and you cannot beat the location. We were put in a 2 room suite with exterior balcony, which was excellent! We had a late check in and the night manager helped us personally and provided interesting information about the Hotel and renovations as well as advice on local restaurants for a family. We were very impressed with the night manager's knowledge and friendliness, so much so that we told him we would be coming back to stay at the Hotel bec... Read more

I arrived around 3 pm on a very hot and humid day. There was a line-up to check in but it moved quickly as there were 3 or 4 agents working. I got the divine Miss M, who I remembered from last year. She's still as lovely, kind, efficient and professional as I remembered. I had reserved a Signature room and was very delighted with it on the 19th floor. It was spotless and tastefully decorated. I loved the marble walk-in shower. The air con worked very well. The housekeepers were very pleasant and... Read more

Our first experience was with a male who had a non American accent who was from welcoming. This was followed by a prolonged wait for an elevator that took a ridiculous amount of time to get to us. Followed up by walking into a tiny room that had its air conditioner held in place by cardboard and tape and made the noise of a light plane. Then we found that if you pulled the blind down to keep the light out, that you blocked off the air from the air conditioner. With the summer temperatures in NY... Read more

My five girlfriends and I just stayed at The Hotel Edison for a Surprise 40th Birthday! What a WONDERFUL surprise and a FANTASTIC experience. The Hotel was PERFECTLY located to all we wanted to do in Manhattan. But the Hotel itself was above my expectations. I planned this over night stay and was so pleased with how helpful and friendly the reservation staff was over the phone. When we got there Marco, at the front desk was so pleasant and accommodating. This hotel was easy to find and only a short walking distance from Penn Station. From the moment we walked up to the front of the beautiful entrance, there were doormen to greet us and assist with out luggage. Kind and courteous only begins to explain their welcoming demeanor. The lobby décor was modern, there was a bustling atmosphere, and the environment was very clean. Check-in was a breeze and the room was ready when we arrived. The hotel is located close to Times Square, the perfect location for us. Very impressed with this Hotel, as located centrally, with helpful staff, immaculate rooms, and felt very safe. Pretty much everything you need is a few minutes walk away, although I would avoid Danny's Deli (couple doors down) as food appalling. Beautifully refurbished rooms, which were cleaned daily, and given fresh towels, etc. Although very close to Times square, the room was quiet and peaceful, for a good night's sleep. (much needed after a day's sightseeing!!). There was also blackout bl... Read more

We are a family of 5 and stay at Hotel Edison whenever we visit Time Square. Location, price, and comfort are second to none in this area. Hotel security is top notch, The Rum House is great for evening drink & live music, and the beds are absolutely the most comfortable of any hotel we've stayed at. Thanks for another great stay and will be back again soon!

The hotel has been under renovations though we didn't see any evidence of construction at all. The lobby is absolutely stunning, faithfully and tastefully renovated in Art Deco style. The rooms are the same. We booked a standard room, the room was quite small which is apparently normal for NYC, but the fit out seemed poorly thought out. There was 3 pieces of furniture, just a bed, desk and tall boy that weren't well placed. No bedside tables (which I found very annoying) and our 2nd suitcase ha... Read more

I went to New York for 1 week at the beginning of June and while being there stayed at The Edison Hotel and in terms of location it was amazing as it was in the middle of Times Square, so if that's what your looking for then this is the hotel for you. The staff we were in contact with were very lovely and helpful.

the location was fabulous, less than a 1/2 block off Time Square. Old hotel that has tons of history. therefore rooms are small, bathrooms smaller. ours smelled of sewer gas. Price was way too high. too few elevators and since we were on third floor took stairs frequently. Nice soaps, shampoos, towels and beds. We had to book in a pinch and therefore can't complain, they even let us check in at 9 am.

This is my third visit to this hotel and the first one in the summer time. They have two types of rooms, Signature (updated and remodeled) and Classic (not remodeled and updated). I stayed in the Classic due to price concerns. The location is great and the staff is very nice but there are few amenities. There was not coffee maker in the room and no coffee or tea available in the lobby. We had a king sized bed and the room was very large considering most rooms in NYC are small. The bathroom was a... The best thing about this hotel is the location; right in times square so it is great for tourists. There was usually a long line for the elevators so we wanted to take the stairs and you always had to ask to have the stairwell opened for you. I'm sure it's for security to prevent those not staying in the hotel from accessing, but still somewhat of a nuisance. The beds were not very comfortable but the room was more spacious than what I'm used to in NYC which was nice with 4 people! The sh... Read more

The Hotel Edison on 47th Street is one of those previously grand hotels that is making a comeback. The lobby decor is a bright and flashy Art Deco, the staff are friendly and professional, and the property is clean and well cared for. I've stayed here twice. Both times my room was clean and modern looking, and recently updated. This most recent time, the bed was on its last legs, with a noticeable swayback. Time to put it out of its misery. Aside from that one problem, I've only had a pleasant s... Read more

We stayed two nights at the Edison and when you enter the lobby you do get your hopes up. At first were really disappointed by the look of the room (16th floor, so maybe due some love) - clean and trim but the decor tired and a dent in the wall where the cupboard door handle had clearly banged against it once too often. View was onto the back end of a building and some kind of service area, with a sliver of a view of a billboard, but you could shut the blinds and that solved that problem. Good ... Read more

From what I read there are new and old rooms, but i think we got one of the new ones, although I didn't see any others. The only complaint I have was that the airconditioning was really noisy, not only when it was running, but when it turned on and off. But the service was good and staff friendly. Like most tourists in NYC we hardly spent anytime in our room anyway. It was basically a place to sleep and shower. NYC accomodation seems to be expensive, so if many are similar priced then it's than ... Read more

On August 22 my husband and I checked into Hotel Edison. This hotel is perfectly located, (why I gave it two stars instead of one) but there are problems. When we arrived we had heard that rooms could vary in this hotel so we asked to see the room first. We were not completely satisfied with the room, we were then given a second room which was really lovely.
