On the plus side: - comfortable bed - clean bathroom - cookie on arrival Things that make you pause & wonder... - why there's an imprint of an iron on the wall? - the air conditioning unit looks like it lost a wrestling match - the random dingy hanger which they clearly got from the local dry cleaners - why it would take 4 calls over 24 hours to get a shower cap and a toothbrush? It's barely average, but inhabitable.

Very disappointed in the Hotel, it was difficult to get. Taxi, the elevators were slow, , rooms were small, hallways were small, I had a problem with a authorization form that I filled out to charge my clients room because I was not going to be there when she checked in.

Good: The reason we chose this hotel was that the place my wife had to for work was a block away. The location is nice.. I would have preferred living in mid-town but this hotel saved us some commute time. Bad/Needs improvement: - Tiny rooms: The rooms a super small and there is no space to walk or move around. It was a pain to have a little baby in the room who wants to move around. - Not clean: The bath rooms had mildew everywhere and the bed sheets were torn or dirty. I had to get the repl... Read more

A great location. Near Battery Park, Wall Street, Brooklyn Bridge and many other NY sites. Hotel is average. Small and compact. The day I checked in the shower handle came off in my hand. I called the front desk and someone was there within 5 min to repair. Was offered a new room which I declined. Repair was made quickly. Hotel elevators (only 3) are slow. The adjoining resultant uses them frequently as well. With this being high rise hotel, the elevator wait can be 5 min.+. Staff was very... Read more

I just spent a weekend at this hotel with my son and it was very convenient and nice. I used to live in NYC, and recently moved to a different state, but I keep going to the city to visit friends and places. This time I wanted to go alone with my 2-year old and stay at a hotel in Manhattan instead of at my friends' places in Brooklyn. I mention that because the location of this hotel is perfect if you are going to be visiting both boros. The hotel doesn't have a garage, which in Manhattan is a b... Read more

This hotel is located near several attractions. The rooms are reasonably priced. Because you're in NYC, space is at a premium, but our room was larger than expected. The best thing about the hotel, by far, was the friendly service we received. Two different bellmen--one named Henry and the other whose name I didn't catch--spoke excitedly with our young children and made them very happy. Every time we came into the hotel, they greeted us warmly and chatted as we waited for our elevator. We ... Read more

Stayed there for the weekend. It's a good location. The 9/11 sight, battery park and wall street is with in a half mile. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are very small and could us a up grade. Some the light switch panel's were broken also the ac unit was leaking water on the floor. Don't pay extra for a city view not worth it ours was look at a rusty roof top ac unit. Thus also located very close to several subway stations.

Couple initial comments: 1) The lobby is on the second floor, so when you enter the hotel you need to wait for the elevator (see #2) 2) The elevators are the slowest I've seen in NY. There are something like 45 floors and only 4 elevators. If you are on a mid-level floor, be prepared to wait up to 15-20 minutes for an elevator in the morning. Guests from higher floors (particularly those checking out) cram the tiny elevators, and they tend to be full by the time they get to the lower levels. Ti... Read more

I stayed in the double tree at the end of a business trip to New York. The location was perfect for me as it was close to the subway and tour buses. It was very reasonable for New York City. The room was very nice with everything you need but the lifts can be packed and slow depending on the time of day. The warm cookies on arrival were a nice surprise and the staff were very helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will book again. Tony, Belfast, Ireland.

Does not have coffee in lobby or rooms, but a Fresh and Co is next door and it's a deli/coffee shop with reasonable breakfasts and many healthy convenient options for all meals. I stayed at this DoubleTree for the first time, for a nearby business conference. The hotel is very convenient to the Financial District for business meetings, and near lower Manhattan attractions ranging from Fraunces Tavern to Delmonico's. Other than the occasionally slow elevator service, the hotel was a very good value compared to pricier hotels in the neighborhood. The public areas and rooms were clean and the staff responsive and friendly. I plan to stay there again in the fall.

Some rooms (3307) have a bath tub others have a glass standing shower. Rooms were clean and comfy. The ac unit was loud and I found the bed and pillows too soft but linen was soft and fresh. Parking is $40 for regual car but #55 for oversize our F150 counted as oversize. Parking lot is across the street

Unfortunately, there is a building development across the street, so noise begin at 7:00am to noon. Maybe will be better if you bring earplugs for sleeping. But i can only recommend this hotel.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was in a great location for Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, and 9-11 Memorial. Park right across the street was most convenient. Train stations near buy for easy access to all parts of city. Very good value for hotel in NYC.

Recently enjoyed our 4 day visit to 'The Big Apple' to attend a family wedding in Central Park - beautiful! Our stay at the DoubleTree in the Financial District was generally very good with an ideal location. The only disappointment was the quality of the buffet breakfast for such a large hotel chain in New York City. Love the city, but a word of caution, don't hesitate when exiting a New York City cab unless you want to hear horns blasting and cabbies jumping out of their cabs screaming at yo... Read more

If you need to stay in the financial district this is a nice hotel to stay at. I had a room on the 43rd floor with a nice view of the Hudson River. Room is small but that's standard for most NYC hotels. Shower is tight. If you were a very large person you might have an issue. Front desk was very nice and customer service driven. Breakfast buffet is standard....scrambled eggs, bacon sausage. Nothing special. For price paid its a good value hotel

AVOID !!! I always thought double tree was a great hotel that cared about their guests but apparently not. First off the front desk employees were not completely trained and they were unaware of how to do regular check in procedure. The elevator wait times are incredibly long at least 10 minutes to go up or down. The staff is RUDE ! I called the "care line" to receive another remote after room service took mine and the lady gave me attitude and hung up on me! The night before that I called for... Read more

Construction that surrounds the hotel is too noisy. Sound insulation of rooms is a also a problem, people are able to listen to talks in another room pretty clearly and you have to lower down your voice to avoid being heard. Elevators are small and slow. Even during the peak checkout time, 10am - 11am, the hotel scheduled a moving using the big service elevator, which cause the other two small guest elevators extremely crowded. We waited 30 minutes to get into the elevator and many people chose ... Read more

3 elevators for a 44 floor hotel doesn't cut it. Sometimes the wait for them is long, and they're often full during rush hours. Staff was excellent. Be aware that there is major construction happening on the Stone St. side. I had a 4th floor to avoid the elevator problem, but the noise was unbearable. They start work around 6am. Make sure to get a room on the other side higher up. I moved to the 12th floor, facing the other side, and it wasn't bad.

Upon Check in , I received the keys to the King Room with River View numbered #4310 After wayting about 10 minutes for 1 of the 3 elevators, I was lifted to the 43rd floor, to my room with a superb view to the Hudson River and a good acclimatization provided by an internal AC unit . The Room is less than 20 sq. meters, but OK , with a good walk-in shower in the small bathroom, and the smallest wall armoire I ever encountered at any Hotel, in Europe North and South Americas and Africa !... Hotel is dated and dingy and the carpet needs vacuumed. I tried to call down to reception but the two phones in the room don't work and the main line I called from my cell only takes reservation, everything else is and endless loop. Now I find the outlets and lights next to the bed don't work. I asked for a room awway from the elevator and I got the room across from them. I didn't give the lowest score as I haven't seen a bug.

We had to stay in New York for an extra 4 nights due to hurricane Matthew preventing us from flying down to Florida. We chose this hotel for our final two extra nights, moving from mid town. The view from our very comfortable and large room on the 41st floor was breathtaking. An amazing view of the new World Trade Centre tower. That view was worth the entrance fee alone. We spent lots of time just staring out the window at that tower. But when we weren't partaking of 'tower staring' we were ou... Read more

This hotel was in a good location, but did not provide enough rooms for us at check-in, resulting in our late preparation and departure of a Broadway Show and lots of confusion due to the varied times of check in for our group. Cold air came from the heater no matter what temp it was set at. The elevators were so slow and so small it created a HUGE problem! Breakfast buffet was not worth $20 plus 18% gratuity. The only thing we really liked was the shower. Great water pressure and plenty of hot... Read more

Every day we had to remind the cleaning staff that we were three people in the room as they kept setting up the room only for two people... and trust me it is not nice to have to go EVERY SINGLE DAY to the reception (40 floors with a busy lift - as the phone in the room wasn't working) and queue to speak to the only person in a busy reception just to ask for towels!

Hotel definitely not to recommend despite acceptable location. Reservation of junior suite for 3-night stay and late arrival via internet was not accepted or recognized at all - only very tiny bedroom was available - no excuses or anything else was accepted by service personnel. Change of room was only possible after massive intervention. Very slow and des interested support for room change. Overall a good stay in the Financial District. Poor lighting and very tight room space. Great hospitality, service, and attention. They are very personable and accommodating. Dealt with Tina, Helena, and Tony. They were friendly and it's always nice to be greeted and conversate. The security downstairs as well looked like they enjoyed their jobs because it probably has to do with good management. On another note, it does take the elevators a lengthy time to arrive... I spotted some seriously negative on-line reviews shortly before our scheduled arrival which sent us into a panic. We came prepared, & were very watchful. Had a 3 night stay with no problems whatsoever. Nice linens, towels, toiletries. The room was tight but for the price and NYC real estate, that's hardly surprising..... Elevator waits were minimal. My co-traveler was impressed by the fitness room. The location is well served by the subway.

There are plenty subway stations around the hotel so getting anywhere in New York is quite easy. The hotel is also a few minutes walk from the ferry and WTC memorial so location is great. The hotel lifts weren't nearly as bad as some of the other reviewers suggested. We waited 5 minutes at most but generally didn't wait much at all. The room was small, but it's New York and this is standard. Staff were friendly and except for a leak at the shower base we didn't have any complaints.

We were in this hotel the thanksgiving week. The best of the hotel is the location as it's located in the financial area close to the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street and the Staten Island ferry as well as good subway connections. It is true what people comment about the elevators; there are only three for like 50 floors. Although they are fast, they do a lot of stops which makes it very slow. The room was ok, a bit small but with a king size bed. The WiFi worked properly. The staff was ok, the... Read more

Weekend of thanksgiving 2016. The staff was proficient at their jobs, friendly and the cookies at check in were great. The women checking us in, while very friendly, could slow down while talking as some of us are not that adept at understanding English with a strong Spanish accent, I'm sure I missed some of what they said. The lobby is on the 2nd floor. The ice machine on the 10th floor was not operational. The hallways and the rooms are smallish since it's NY. The rooms are reasonably clean. L... Read more

First: After arriving at the hotel at 10.00pm and being told that our room was no longer available we were told to stay in a substandard room with no compensation whatsoever. After getting to the room we were surprised to discover this bed was a king single (which is a boarder line joke for two people to stay in) I rang up the front desk to ask if there was a room with anything bigger and after being on hold for 2min we were given a room with a king size bed as per our original reservation. Overall a decent Double Tree, great location. There were a few things which were sub par - Firstly - the elevators - I understand it was an extremely busy period so I could let this fly - but waiting over 10 minutes for an elevator? Also - there is no Hilton branded breakfast room - instead it's located within a private restaurant - the service was sub par and as a HHonors Silver member I would expect the breakfast to be complimentary. Since there was no space to sit in the tiny room I requested... Read more

We travel to NYC from Alabama about twice a year and stay in different locations each time. We were able to get a great deal on this hotel through Expedia and it did not disappoint.
