I have been staying at this property for years and have always been happy. The only drawback are the elevators, though this is the case of all new hotels in the neighborhood. The staff are superb and I always feel welcome here.

Great location, great staff. Front desk, housekeeping, Bellman all awesome. Valet parking is pricey but if you not ready to pay in NYC don't come. They provide water and cookies when you arrive! You can't ask for more when you stay in a NYC hotel.

Way over priced for what you get. I couldn't believe in today's world Hilton allows moldy corners in the shower. The coffee maker was almost inaccessible and could not be operated without spilling water. There are much better values at nicer properties nearby...a huge disappointment.

My experience from check in to check out at this hotel was excellent. I was there on business for 10 days and if ever I needed anything the staff was available to help immediately. They even had an umbrella for me to use one day when the weather wasn't ideal!

The location is great if this is your first time. Close to subway, empire state and penn station. However, the rooms are tiny, our bath tap did not work and had to wait for an hour for the reception to send a repairman and get it fixed so that we could shower. Expensive for what you get but compared to the other hotels in the area this was the most affordable for a hilton chain.

I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and would stay there again when I´m back to NYC. The location is excellent. Walking distance from main attractions and also from Penn Station which is very handy if you are coming by train. I booked one of the rooms on the top floors and the view of the Empire State was just amazing. Quite spacious room for NYC and very kind staff.

The staff goes the extra mile and then some to make your stay comfortable and see that you are concerns are addressed as best as they can. That is the best thing about the hotel along with the location. The rooms are small as noted by the other reviewers. I feel the room rates can be a bit lower as it isn't value for money at 300$/night without breakfast.

Room wasn't that clean. Inconsiderate staff being loud working in the hallways in the early morning waking people. Bacon at breakfast wasn't usual Double Tree quality. If you want attention to detail and usual hilton quality don't stay here.

We stayed for 4nights in April 2016. We were given a room with a view of the Empire State which was awesome for my 11yr old nephews first trip to the big apple. The location of the hotel is brilliant with a number of subway stops within 5mins walk so you can get anywhere in the city. It is also within 15min walk of Empire State and Broadway, times sq, with a wee bit longer to Hell's Kitchen and highlife. The hotel itself was very clean, very quiet and staff were lovely. Arrived late at night tired and exhausted from a 15 hrs. trip. The room was small and the cigarette smells was so overpowering. It is as if someone has just left the room smoking. The carpet has stains all over the room and the hallway has more stains on it and dirty. We stayed on the 4th. floor. I wonder if this is just a room for an emergency accommodation.

This hotel is squeezed into a tiny space in a rather scruffy street in midtown New York. Its just scruffy although there is a tavern in the middle whose patrons get a little merry by about 8 at night, but they just want to sing a song with you. It is 26 stories tall, and given that narrow footprint has just two lifts. That means guests need to show some patience on occasions. The front of the hotel is not very glamorous and some of the public areas are showing some wear and tear. So, whats going... Read more

I was visiting NY for a brief 24 hour trip and stayed at this hotel during my stay. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the hotel was in a great location. If you enjoy a nice morning walk or jog Central Park isn't too far away and the eating choices end the area are endless. The staff was a complete delight. I would definitely stay here again. The only issue that I had is that they only have two elevators and one of the elevators broke down. It led to a delay at times.

29th street at this location is dark, filled with handbag shops, and not very appealing. It is relatively convenient to subways however. The room is minuscule and was smelly. The staff were average, although one bellman was extremely helpful with subway information as well as booking a car to LGA during rush hour. I would go elsewhere next time.

Slightly dingy hotel. With noisy air-conditioning at $800 for 2 nights. Ouch. I would not stay there again at this price. Too steep for what was just an ordinary, old-fashioned hotel in need of an upgrade.

Springhill suites on Yale is a better value. Better rooms, no odor and less costly valet. I'm a diamond member of Hilton and i have stayed at many Hilton properties, this was one of the least appealing. If I desire to stay at a Hilton property near capital hill, I wild recommend garden inn on Boren. The maintenance of the home wood is lacking.

The Hotel Staff seemed confused upon our arrival. Did not know where we could park really, suggested a place but did not offer to valet. They suggested that we just leave the car out front until early morning because it would not be towed. We did opt for this, but did leave at 7am, not my favorite choice as I was on minivaca with husband and had just gone to a Wedding the night before. I'll start by saying that the hotel has friendly staff, good housekeeping, a convenient location near Penn Station, and comfortable rooms with modern, but somewhat dated (think early 2000s) furniture. Wifi is free -- and reliable. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and spacious by NYC standards. Note that this is a high-rise building and there are only two slow elevators (one of which was out-of-service for a few hours during my stay), so if you can, it might be better to request a lower-floor roo... The location was great - a short walk from Penn Station, convenient to the Subway, within a reasonable walk of Times Square, and a long but pleasant walk from Battery Park. We were able to do everything someone on a first-time visit to NYC would want to do without ever getting in a car. The room was smaller than in other DoubleTrees I have stayed in, but that is to be expected in Manhattan. The beds were comfortable and the room had everything we needed (safe, closet, etc.).

It is an NYC cramped, small hotel room! Our room was clean. Nice view of a corner of the Empire. This tall hotel only has two small elevators, which are for customers and employees. When both are working, the wait can be very long. Since there is no service elevator, it is not uncommon to have the elevator FINALLY arrive, only to be full with maid's rolling carts and luggage carts...forcing the customer to wait for an empty elevator. We are HiltonHonors members and as a family, this is our third weeklong visit to NYC. This is our least favorite Hilton property in this city, by far. In fact, the concierge went well above and beyond the call of duty when he assisted us with selecting the venue for our anniversary dinner (he prepared a list of personally suggested restaurants for us to review along with comments and descriptions of each) and the dining staff left a wonderful bottle of champagne in our room along with chocolate-covered strawberries when they heard we were cel... This hotel is dated and needs a room overhaul. The curtains in our room had several pin wholes throughout. At night, it felt like we were looking at the stars. As a Diamond member with Hilton, we thought we'd at least get an upgraded room. The only upgrade we got was to the Hilton HHonors floor. The room was smaller than my college dorm room from 20 years ago. The towels had about the same thickness as a paper towel. Just low quality overall. The hotel itself is fantastically located, it's easy to walk to Chelsea, the West Village, Soho and even LES from there, you can get most places in 40 minutes. With a great view up to Times Square also, you very much feel you're in New York. The rooms are basically nice, the AC a whirring hissing on-going noise that may keep you awake, the toiletries simple and coffee politely awful - in many respects it's an average hotel. This was a place to base ourselves whilst we covered New York and it did just that. The room was clean, with a coffee machine and tea making facilities. Wi-if was intermittent and the lack of a fridge was difficult at times. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful and the free cookies at check-in were a nice touch, particularly after a long flight. The room was basic but clean and functional with a large screen TV, safe, hairdryer and iron & ironing board. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom well stock... Read more

The hotel was clean and tidy, staff were friendly and helpful at all times. It was within walking distance to Maddison square gardens, 5th avenue and with a subway 2 blocks down so was perfect for accessing everything easily. The street doesn't look the cleanest but it serves a purpose and we had no trouble at all. Rooms was a good size, view was poor but we were hardly in our room! The room was either Cold or boiling as the heater is a little out dated and it could be noisy at times over night ... Read more

This was my second time here and both times were great experiences! Positives: every and I mean every hotel worker was friendly and helpful. No questions re: request for more cookies, and the breakfast staff worked so hard but all were there to help out and ask if I needed more juice, etc. Thanksgiving morning was able to just walk out of the hotel and down the street to see the parade!!! It was so awesome!! Near Macy's and Koreatown plus all the other 34th Ave shops. The room was clean and quie... Read more

We arrived here after a long flight from the UK with no bags as BA hadn't managed to get them onto our connection. We were told on arrival that the hotel was overbooked and 2/3 rooms would have to transfer to the hotel around the block. It took such a long time to arrange the transfer and we had to walk a block at 1am in the freezing cold and dark, with little guidance. They also didn't have anything to give us to sleep in - no robe or adapters to charge our phone. The alternative hotel should h... Read more

We arrived slightly earlier than check in time but this was no issue. We were told they had oversold on rooms so didn't have the queen room we booked, so instead placed us in a double king. For us this was no problem and the reception staff were very friendly. The next day we changed into a queen room - again no fuss as the hotel staff moved our belongings for us, so when we arrived back after a long day out we just needed to pick up our new room key. Both rooms were warm, clean and comfortabl... Read more

Hotel itself is decent, the lifts are extremely slow, sometimes had a 20+ minute wait in the mornings. The rooms are a little dated but they are clean and well presented. Bathroom was okay, and the toiletries provided were a nice little touch. The hotel is in a good location in regards to attractions, however it is on one of the roughest streets going. On our two day stay, I saw a woman and man "canoodling" against a wall, a man at 9pm urinating in the middle of the pavement and many drug deal... Read more

We stayed for 4 nights. Room was big enough for the 2 of us. We hardly spent any time in it we were so busy shopping and sight seeing. Maid was in daily to change towels etc. We had tea coffee in room and also an iron and ironing board. There was also a safe deposit box available free of charge. The bathroom was quite small but adequate There was also an alarm clock in the room. Reception staff very nice and helpful. We were only 10 min walk to Macy's. We would return

Hotel was great and clean. It was small but comparable to most nyc hotels. Bed was comfortable. Location was convenient for me. Luggage storage was easy. Only negative is that all rooms are close to elevator and you can sometimes hear hallway chit chat but it didn't keep me awake. Overall very satisfied.

I stayed one night at the hotel, but got in early and had to leave the hotel late. The staff was very accommodating with my schedule, which I appreciated. The room itself was fine, if a little dated. Still, comfy bed and quiet room. My only issue is that the concierge told me to take a car service to my dinner date, rather than wait for a cab. He told me it would be about the same cost. Well, the car service was $37 and the cab back was $14 so clearly that was not the case. It made me wonder if ... Read more

Room was clean except perhaps carpet. Room and bathroom small but adequate, comfortable and clean. Good TV, linens, amenities. Elevator broke while we were there. Went to the restaurant to check out room service and menu and the manager (?) was so nice and sat me down and I ordered a burger he said would be sent up to the room. It was. It was a REALLY unexpectedly good burger and fries. Room a bit noisy in terms of hallway. But all the way around a good room.
