We are in NYC once a month for a few days and have our favorite hotels; however, I booked late and so, had to settle for something different. While the Crowne Plaza wasn't horrible, it was not awesome either. POSITIVES: - centrally located near subway and very close to Times Square; walking distance from Central Park, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Centre - rooms are quiet even though hotel is in Times Square - rooms are bigger than average for NYC hotels - very clean and beds are okay - airport car... I booked this hotel because of location and price. I've stayed at a variety of hotels in Times Square that all tend to be noisy and somewhat tacky. Not the Crowne Plaza. Sandra at the front desk was a star. I arrived on a red eye early in the morning and she did not hesitate to find me a clean room that I could crash into soonest. Room 4527 was a delight. Good size, QUIET, clean, with rounded glass windows and a view of the river. I will come back again.

My girlfriend and I stayed here recently during a long weekend in New York. It's right in the heart of Times Square, about a quarter mile from the TKTS Ruby Red Stairs. It's within easy walking distance of lots of attractions and shopping in the area, so that's a plus. The hotel itself is pretty average for its price point--overall, decently appointed and the room we had was standard. However, there is a negative and it's a huge one: the Crowne Plaza sees fit to stick its guests with a $30 reso... Read more

Whilst this hotel provides the basics well it is a bit jaded around the edges and customer care is not as good as it should be. Our double room on 28th floor only had one bedside table and one bedside lamp - not exactly even 3 star rating. In the bathroom the toilet roll holder was hanging of the wall and the door stop was barely hanging on. In the bedroom one of the Windows would not shut tightly letting in the noise of New York at night. If the room had been properly inspected before letting ... Read more

My friends and I were concerned about finding a good hotel location in NYC, and ended up finding the perfect deal here. The rate was very reasonable (around $160) for an absolutely perfect location. We only had a few days in the city, and this was a great spot to explore with easy access to the metro system for getting farther away. The room itself was a good size, with plenty of room for all of our luggage to be spread out. Staff was very helpful when we were unsure of a good dinner spot our ... Read more

Hotel is situated in a very busy area of Manhattan, but once inside the hotel the street noise could not be heard. The hotel in general was very clean and kept that way all the time. The staff on the desk were efficient and our check in was processed very quickly, I felt staff could be more welcoming/ happy. The room was adequate for our stay. We did find the bed very comfortable. On the down side we only had a shower in the room which we managed with but really would of liked a bath as well. We... Read more

A good place to stay if you want to be close to Times Square. It's located really central and lots of things to do around. The rooms were nice with fresh linen. The lifts of the hotel can be a test of patience at times, especially if you are staying on floor above 28. We were on the 42nd floor so one can imagine. The ice vending machine was out of order in the floor too.

Boy were we glad we did. From the time we arrived we were greeted by all staff we made eye contact with. Sandra C. at the Rewards Desk was so pleasant and checked us in early. I was blown away by the employees here. Wonderful, kind, gracious people! We came here for my birthday and the front desk employee gave us an AMAZING corner room and even two drink vouchers for their on-site bar! As if that wasn't enough, hours later after a full day in the city, we go to our room to find a plate of cheesecake, a birthday card, and balloons! I've NEVER experienced anything like this in any hotel I've ever stayed at and I'll remember this experience for a very long time.

Great location in Times Square, rooms smaller but excellently appointed. Lobby is on 2nd floor with an always popular restaurant/bar with great views. Area often crowded as seemed to be a meeting point in the morning and prior to shows Breakfast was excellent and generally staff good

Michelle waited on me three times and every time she did she was very welcoming, friendly, smiling, and tentative. She'd come by and acknowledge me, even when she was not waiting on me. Michelle was fabulous and made my time at Broadway 49 and the Crown Plaza an inviting visit. I'm from Michigan and this was my first visit to New York, Michelle added to my delight on this visit. Got there a little early, so had to store our bags as our room was not ready. As promised while checking in, it was ready within the hour. The staff was very friendly at check-in. Our room was one of the corner rooms with views of Times Square, and the Empire State Building. We were right next to the service elevator banks, but not once in the three days did we get disturbed. This was a difficult one to review. This is your typical big city non-luxury hotel. First and foremost, the room (standard double) was nice and spacious and clean. Otherwise it was more like an airport with checking in unnecessarily long. You take your own bags up to your room. You can't check in until 3pm and have to check out at 11am. However you are a hundred yards from Times Square. You are given a voucher for 2 drinks & Wi-fi for "free" but not really as you have to pay £25 hotel Tax w... Read more

Great Hotel, excellent service and staff, especially Mariem at the breakfast buffet. She is wonderful. Her welcoming smile, energy and great serving skills is a refreshing start for your day. Perfect location, Times Square at your foot step. The Starting point for the Big Bus hop on and off is a street away.

If you want to be in the heart of Times Square, this is the place to stay. The location is perfect, but the rooms aren't the greatest. The rooms definitely need upgrading and are small. The bathroom and room in general was lacking the overall cleanliness I would expect from a Crowne Plaza. I stayed here for a long weekend and loved the location, but would probably try a different hotel next time.

Not much to it, but, I guess if you are in NYC, you wont spend much time in hotel. So, it doesn't matter! O yeah, you cant use the gym, or basically anything, unless you are a member. Although the accommodation at this hotel is of a group Crowne Plaza standard, all other aspects appears to be different from other similar hotels in the group. While water is provided in other equivalent establishments, none is provided in New York, no kettle for brewing drinks rather a coffee machine, which doubles as a tea maker, however when using it for tea be aware of the lingering coffee taste. There are many good things to say about this fine and friendly property, BUT just recently they've started a rip-off policy where they add a $30.00 "Service charge" to the bill. This is the kind of cheap-trick which a site like Trip Advisor can expose. Every other property in the IHC chain in New York does NOT have an added service charge. So if you do an IHC search for NYC and you see a price of, say $270.00 for the Crowne Plaza and $290.00 for the Intercontinental, the Crowne Plaza actually co... Read more

The location is fantastic as you are in Times Square so 5 min walk and you are in mid town Manhatten (normal shops), 5 min walk the other way and you are in up town Manhatten (posh shops). We were given a room on the 15th floor, there are 48 floors. It was a big room, very clean and a fab view. Only downside were the housekeeping lifts were right next to our room which was 'a view of Times Square' room. Think I'd forgo the view for a no lift noise. It has a nice bar and great restaurant where we had breakfast every morning, eat as much buffet style which was great ... Read more
