"My wife and I had booked this hotel for a romantic weekend away when we saw how great it looked online! we were so excited UNTIL we stepped foot inside. The girls at the front desk are very kind and helpful but that is as far as it goes from there. the door man does not greet you and the bell man never offered to help us with our bags even though he was standing RIGHT NEXT to us!. when we arrived to our room and opened the door we were horrified. the rooms are extremely small but yes it is nyc we could deal with that. however the room looked like wolverine had just gone through. the furniture was all chewed up and looked horrible. the bed was ripped and the lighting in the bathroom just forget about seeing what you are doing to get ready. way to dark and only had a dim light above the shower. we demanded to be moved to a different room because of how horrible it was. the girl at the front desk was very kind and gave us another room with no hassle. we figured that things would be much better this time. o how WRONG we were. when we opened the door to the second room it was even WORSE! there was a water leak in the corner and the wall paper was falling down. behind the wallpaper was horrible black mold and the headboard appeared to have old blood stains on it. the bathroom was much better this time though. so of course we absolutely refused to stay in a mold infested blood stained room. and once again went down stairs very upset this time. there was a different girl this time and she was very very apologetic. she gave us yet again another room and free wifi this time. woo hoo what a way to try to distract from the filth. the third room was the best that we had yet it was still very uncomfortable to stay in. if other hotels near by were not sold out we would have def forfeited our money and went elsewhere. we will NEVER be back to amsterdam court!"

"Okay, the rooms are small but I was only there to sleep. Duh! The bathroom was also small but it was clean and servicable. The water was hot and the lighting was good. No complaints! I got to NYC at 6:30am at this hotel by 8 am and they let me check-in. This was very cool since I had been on a plane all night, I will stay here again!"

"I think the very best attribute of this hotel was location, location, location! It was really in the heart of everything we wanted to see and do while in NYC. Broadway shows were all close, Times Square just down the street, an easy walk to Central Park, and about 4 blocks from Rockefeller Center. The only down side I/we found to the hotel was our room was a bit cramped by 'flyover country' standards, but not really a big deal unless you plan on spending most of your time in the room."

"VERY tight quarters - but clean! Water running and pipes tapping - but so tired after a day walking the city - didn't keep us up! TV pretty small. Understand they are under renovation. Overall, still a good value for NYC - and location was great."

"THE worst hotel in my life. Never have I experience such a place, hall ways tight and closed in, dark and dungeon like. Open door to room and bed was the biggest thing in the room, you could not get out of the bed on either side, bathroom was tiny didn't feel clean, door cracked, scared to take off shoes, because I didn't want my bare feet to touch the floor. Could hear persons in next room. My walk-in closet at home was bigger than this room. There was nothing good about this place. Would not commend this hotel to anyone. I checked in, say room and checked out of hotel."

"I had read many reviews on this specific hotel, personally I feel as though some of the workers may be putting in all the good comments because honestly, the hotel was not really that great. The good points were as follows:
Our room was neat, well cleaned and tidy on arrival.
The receptionist ladies are most helpful. Another good point is that it is in the heart of Manhattan, right where everything is, times square, 5th avenue and also the empire state and rocker-feller centre were all under a 10 minute walk.
Apart from that, the rest of the stay was not so great.
Apparently our room and also the floor we were staying on was 'newly renovated.' Because of this, the toilet system was flooded which had then led to a blockage in mine and also the neighbours room...everyone else's waste was floating in our toilet...not too great! When asking for help we had waited almost a full 2 hours for maintenance which had also held us back for what we were planning on doing. When maintenance had arrived one of the guys were unnecessarily rude and impolite. After that there was a leak in the ceiling which was just outside the door frame of our room in the hallway. We had complained and nothing had been done. By the time I had woken up the next morning, when reaching the front door I was practically walking in water. Once again this was not fixed until later on in the evening, we were not even offered a different room to stay in for the meantime. My Mum had wanted to call back to England and had asked the receptionist if she can use the phone in our room in order to call, because of what we had experienced we were told we would be allowed to make any call for free and also have free breakfast for the rest of our stay...it was free until we got home and my mum had already been charged almost £100. I am happy the only time the hotel was used was to sleep in.
For extra information,, if it helps, WiFi is I think $10 for 24hours...which is kind of crappy seeing as most of the time you will be out and when back sleeping. Take an adaptor that will allow you to use electronic devices, they do sell them here but I think they are $20, or just under.
Although I have stated some bad points, I would say I would stay here again, I would have had a more enjoyable experience if in another room, of course and because of the good price. I went in November...hopefully they would have fixed these changes. Receptionists are amazing!"

"I received a Groupon for this hotel....I can tell you that in all the hotels I stayed in over the last 50 years, this was the worst! The ads were VERY MISLEADING and the room was tiny and dark and depressing, nothing like the picture shows!
I would NEVER come back...and I WOULD NEVER recommend it...a complete nightmare, thank god it was for only one night! No Deal even for $25. a night.

" failed to notify the hotel that we were coming,so they had no reservation for us. The desk person had to make some calls and we had to wait until he received confirmation. When he did get confirmation,it wasn't correct,but he said he would upgrade us to the room that we had originally paid for anyway. Quite a headache. The room was clean but smaller than we had anticipated. Plenty good for the price. It was loud from other people in the halls through the night,but all in all well worth the price...."

"The good:
Comfortable bed
Courteous staff
VERY close to Times Sqare
Close, easy access to multiple subway lines

The bad:
Shower like a fire hose, sometimes cold water. It was impossible not to get water all over the entire bathroom.
Tile is bathroom was cracked and moved under feet.
Toilet water ran sometimes.
Could hear water running in bathroom wall pipes ALL the time.
No fan in bathroom. Not good for steam...and even worse after 'number two'.
Weird tapping sound in wall (street side) every night from 10 to midnight.
Wall heater made crazy sounds all night.
TV had horrible reception, some stations had no sound, and REALLY bad TV color.
Never found ice machine (but didn't ask staff either).

"No doorman/bellman. The room was extremely small, dark and sparsely furnished. A prison cell might have more in it. My laptop screen was bigger than the TV screen in the room. Even the display on the alarm clock was broken. The bathroom was cramped, dimly lit and without an exhaust fan so you had to wait for the mirror to de-fog before you use it, which was surprising since the tub/shower faucet was broken and it had to be held in order to keep the hot water on! Overall, I would have to say that we've stayed in motels in the Poconos with better amenities! Definitely not up to par with other hotels that we've stayed at in Manhattan."

"Great Location and very friendly staff!!

Rooms are small but that was expected, Call ahead before arriving and you can get an upgrade if available at no extra charge!!!

Furnitue was a little worn. Bed was very comfortable, though.
