"We loved our stay at Ameritania at Times Square. The location can NOT be beat...right around the corner from David Letterman studio, a block from Times Square, a good deli down the block. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The desk clerks were courteous, fast, and helpful at suggesting different places for meals, shopping, theater, etc. The doorman was also helpful and we had no issues with checking our bags early before check-in so we could get out on the town. The rooms were clean, comfy beds, and enough pillows. The view was of the construction across the road but we are in NYC to be in NYC, not sit in our room and stare out the window. We booked our rooms through a 'half price at halftime' deal during a BCS football game. After checking other prices during spring break, we feel we got the deal of a lifetime. Thank you Ameritania!!"

"We could not have been happier with the Ameritania. The location was ideal easy walking distance and right between time square and Central Park with subway stations very close. The hotel was simple, clean and nice. The rooms were very comfortable with soft beds and a nice tv. We would stay here again on our next trip to New York. "Newly redecorated lobby & rooms. Very nice. Rooms are small, but nicely equipped.
No real shelf space in bath. Glass shower wall does not keep splash of water from getting on floor. 42 inch flat screen TV new.
Continental breakfast was sparce and costs extra $10. Our price ($127 per night) was reasonable for the area. Half mile from Times Square, near Lincoln Center & Central Park. Subway a short block away. Would use again and can recommend.

"The hotel seems to have been renovated from top to bottom. Great room, excellent location and terrific staff. We really only had 2 complaints, albeit minor ones... 1) the view from the room was non-existant, unless you consider a brick wall and pipes a view and 2) the windows were old and let in a lot of air so the room was a little chilly at times. That being said, we would not hesitate to stay here again."

"The room was clean and the location was close to the subway entrances. It was also close to the attractions we wanted to see (the Christmas Shops at Columbus Circle, the tree at Roc Center, etc.). It appears to be an older hotel that has been recently redone and updated. The staff was friendly and helpful. I might stay again if there is something I want to see in that area of NYC. If you are looking for a contemporary, sleek, new hotel this would not be for you."

"Not sure if I would recommend this hotel. Location was excellent but there was hair stuck to the walls of shower, a cracked window in the bathroom and the inside of the door and light switch was totally gross, ( I went through and had to clean) bobby pins and tags on the floor left from the previous person, the tv was out for most of the little time we spent in the room. The staff was very nice and the location was great!!!"

"I left my luggage at 10am and was told that I;d get a call when my room was ready. Really nice staff at that time.Returned at 5, after show. to be told that I was being moved as others had decieded to extend their stay. Rifght off, I felt this was wrong.Their sister hotel is a horror. it needs to be closed and totaly refurbished.Even the staff seems apologetic."

"The Hotel decor was very nice and modern. The room was also decorated very modern and clean. The room is small but it is all you need for a short stay. Our air conditioner was not working. Our room felt like it was 90 degrees. We were so uncomfortable. We tried to open a window but the window was cracked and fell nearly fell out . We did manage to open the bathroom window but the noise from construction outside was so loud we still could not sleep."

"During our stay (11-14 MAR 2012) we were general happy with the Ameritania Hotel. There was good and bad but the location was worth most of the bad. You couldnt have been in a better location for the Broadway Shows and Times Square fun. If you are not planning on spending a lot of time in the hotel room then this is a great place. The room is small and even with just the two of us, it was a bit tough to find room to place our suit cases and put our clothes. The closet is only about two feet wide and has a safe in it so its tough to really hang things. There is a small desk which is nice but that takes up about the only real place to put your bags down. There was a small trunk /stool at the end of the bed but that made it impossible to walk around to the other side of the bed. At night the water pipes were loud and woke us up a couple of times to the sound of screaming water. The bed was comfortable. The bath was small and forget trying to get two people in there at the same time. The room was very dim even with all the lights on. The bathroom had the good light that you had to use to get ready by. The staff was friendly and ready to help in anyway they could. There was construction across the street and if you planned to sleep in past about 8AM....well .....its not going to happen.....but that was OK with us. it was a good alarm clock. You are just down the block from the STARDUST dinner and I highly recommend it. The wait staff sings Broadway songs and its like getting a show for the price of a VERY well priced meal. Great kids and VERY talented. They make a late meal, after a Broadway show, a great end to a great day. You walk back to the hotel with a hop and a smile."

"I spent a week in NYC with my son, who is a Senior in High School, and my brother, and we LOVED our stay! The location was perfect, just around the corner from Dave Letterman's studio and Times Square. It was an easy walk to the subway to go anywhere else in the city. The staff was very friendly and helpful, kind and considerate and always had smiles for us! I was asked several time by managers that I 'bumped into' if I was enjoying my stay. The room was always very clean and comfortable, with fun, modern decorations. The construction across the street (it's everywhere in NYC!) was easily managed with drug-store ear plugs. For a Manhattan hotel, the price and value was second to none! I would highly, highly reccomend this hotel, and it will be my first choice when I return!"

"We took a weekend trip to NYC for my 21st birthday last weekend and the staff was incredible! When we got into our room, the front desk manager and and housekeeping manager personally signed a birthday card and left me a cupcake with a candle! It was the sweetest! The bartender was fabulous and took great care of us. The bathrooms were so modern (water came down like rain!) We were totally amazed at what a great location it was (you can see times square from your window) and the value ($269 total for four people in a lux suite!) We will definitely be staying here again!"

Although I didn't have the greatest view, that wasn't a big deal b/c we didn't spend much time in the room. "After reading the other reviews, I can second what Lisa from Athens says. We stayed in room 316, a room in the rear and it was nice and quiet while there were jackhammers going right in front of the building! The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were spotless, the lounge was cozy and they made a good martini. The location is wonderful. It was an easy drive from the Lincoln Tunnel. It is right on the corner, with a Starbucks caddy cornered. The only issue we had was the chill in the bathroom. It was very drafty. But we stayed during a particularly cold snap. I think the price was good for NYC. They validated our parking stub, saving us money, and I would stay here again in a heartbeat!"

"Overall I would recommend this hotel. They are in the final stages of updating so still some things to work on. Our room was clean, newly decorated and adequate for what we required. No coffee pot or refrigerator. We had some issues getting the heat controlled. We left our system off most of the time and it still seemed to run. Other rooms had trouble being cold. The elevators went out while we were there, however they did seem to try to get to the issues as quickly as possible. I was not affected because I was on the 2nd floor. I would suggest asking for a corner room. We were room 216 and was spacious enough, however others in our party had to ask to be moved because their room was smaller and had no closet. The 05 rooms seemed to be good rooms too. (405, 505, 605) these rooms are on the front of the building and you will encounter street noise. Our room 216 was on the back, had no view, except the pipes and stairs from the back of the Ed Sullivan Theatre, but it was quiet and stayed dark when we wanted to sleep in. The staff was very accomodating when asked for assistance. Renaldo made some great recommendations for restraunts. It is a wonderful location. We walked almost everywhere. We did make use of the subway which is tricky, but everyone we asked was helpful. Overall we would recommend and stay at this hotel again."

"Despite the on going renovations, we still had an excellent experience! Improvements were being made in the hotel, because of this there were some additional problems now and then. However, for the most part we loved our experience! The location is phenominal, the rooms were clean, and the staff was accomodating. "We had a wonderful time. Hotel was splenid. Everything we needed we got I even needed a flower vase for the bunch of flowers myh son brought I asked at the front desk and they provoded one for me. AAll the people working at the front desk were very nice the bellhops were also nice. The room was great just recently remolded. The beds were very comfortable even with good pillows. Bathroom was beatiful. I would recomded this hotel to anyone. I hope to stay there on my next trip there."
